Pride month jokes aside, BTS are a rainbow, they're so jaw droppingly incredible together but it would be crazy to deny that any color isn't beautiful on its own. And within a rainbow, you can only see a limited shade range, even when the color comes in many different shades. I'm so happy that we get to see all the different shades of the members that they aren't able to show us within the group but I'll always be waiting to see the rainbow!
personally i believe all the varied boy groups are under smaller labels. people only see the portion of boy groups making loud music and complain about there being no fun or bright concepts when there are groups like cravity and tempest for eg.
That’s not true though, there are a ton of big company groups that could do any concepts, people really just pay attention to there louder songs because they tend to be more popular for example: Nct Dream, Shinee, Winner, Seventeen All are big3 groups that have done many different concepts including bright concepts very well
@@jAyBCD1 well in that case Txt, Wayv are both very versatile with concepts and from big companies, But I do agree 4th Gen boy groups are very lacking when it comes to concepts and it’s typically smaller company’s with versatility in their boy groups.
Regarding the yoongi shines better solo opinion: I think the boys who have released solo projects this year have definitely showed different parts of their artistry that they hadn't shown in BTS, so it could be applied to each of them. I'm glad they're using this time to experiment and create and it genuinely makes me curious to see what BTS will make after they finish enlistment, because they'll definitely all have different directions they want to go in. I think their group dynamic is special and that they would never leave the group to to solo but they'll definitely cultivate more personal projects in spare time
I saw a lot of Mygs (Suga's solo stans) on twitter that they wanted him to go solo because a lot of Armys sabotage his D-day album. He won 0 music show awards, d-day funds were stolen, people pt2 didn't chart on billboard and a lot of Armys didn't stream his album. I feel so bad for him. Although his solos are right, I still didn't want him to go solo, he's better with his BTS brothers.
About SKZ and their S Class : I had this problem with Case 143 😅 SKZ released it when I was still very much in love with their 'noisy' side and I didn't want them to change their conept like that. I wasn't alone with my dissapointment. That come back was very hyped by the fandom but didn't get as viral as the previous three 😐 And now they dropped S Class and I love everything about this piece (though I know the chorus may be annoying). I can totally listen to it without MV. But to be honest I think this song sounds the best with the rest of 5 Stars album. Which, btw, makes my jaw drop. This album is full of different vibes but somehow all parts fit together and make you sink in 😻 I know it's a matter of taste so not everyone will like this come back but I really hope it would at least get respect that it deserves for it's quality.
it's definitely hard to write lyrics in a language that isn't your mother tongue; if you don't speak the second language fluently, and I do love Soyeon's rap in Tomboy. However, I think in music as a whole, they should consult fluent speakers of the language they're writing in, just to make sure it makes sense, regardless if it's English, Spanish, Russian, etc. just to truly elevate their songs!
Soyeon's rap was amazing, people hated it for not using the grammar correctly, and now (G)I-dle make songs with incorrect grammar to piss the haters even more, like the "twerking on the runway" line in Queencard.
@@chenles_defender gidle pisses of haters by simply existing. sometimes i wonder if they could reach a farther audience if the songs did have better grammar. I showed queencard to my friend who normally doesn't listen to kpop but she loved the song...except for that part. it put her off, but im ok with it. maybe its a stylistic choice. i thought they were trying to get it right but failed. it seems like they like it this way.
as much as i love yoongi as a soloist and all of the members solo projects, there is something magical when all of them come together on stage. for example, jhope solo performance at lolla was incredible, but he shined just as much when performing run bts, the performance was literally one of the best i saw, I do think that all of the members, especially yoongi and hobi, would do a great job as soloist and are peobably better than a lot of other kpop soloist, but bts performance allow them to shine individually as well, i don't think a group is idk holding them back or whatever, i think performing actually let them shine brighter than when they're solo
For a boy group with a unique concept, I recommend KINGDOM. Their concept is kings throughout the ages. Their debuted was in 2021 with the song called Excalibur, which is inspired by Arthurian legend and their tracks are K-pop with some influences in the instrumentals from the time. And their performances are so elaborate too.
their latest EP had the b-side Song of the Wind and it genuinely was my most replayed song of that month. Their discog as a whole is really pretty sounding in general and cinematic imo so i love when people compliment them lol
Yess I really love their concept, so unique! I also love that they've kept to it if that makes sense? I was worried that the pressures of what 'sells' would make the label want them to change it up but they've stuck to their guns so far and I'm really happy about that!
@@dearyoongi yeah me too. I disagree with the judges on Peak Time who gave them flack for sticking to their concept. I think KINGDOM's live vocals still needed work though, and a lot of idols who debuted during the pandemic need to work on this. But they really put on a great performance overall, and work really well for the concept. I'm also really into Dreamcatcher, who has an amazing concept and discography, which is what made me fall for them in the first place. I wasn't into boy groups until watching Peak Time (VANNER and M.O.N.T changed my life basically lol), but KINGDOM and ONEUS were the exceptions. I think concepts might be what makes groups from smaller/midsized companies stand out generally. I think a lot of fans would revolt if they did change their concept.
I think s class was underwhelming compared to case 143 musically and choreo-wise. Its the beginning of that chorus that I cant really be sold on but the rest of the track is fine. I still watch the stages cause the members can really sell the chaos.
4th gen boy groups actually don't have the same concepts. People focus so much on only the popular more well known boy groups, and leave the noiseless/darkless actually different diverse boy groups in the dust. There's so many different songs from ballads, to EDM to beautiful emotional songs to sophisticated and elegant songs, but people focus too much on the girl groups dominating recently, and seeing only bigger Budgeted groups and not expanding their tastes, that they don't wanna look anywhere past big 3, hybe and bigger budgeted labels. Just because boy groups aren't making noise in the 4th gen as much, doesn't mean they're boring. It's because fans are not focusing on the music other than their noise/dark aspect. This boy groups do one sound opinion is tired, and I say that as a kpop stan who came into kpop as a girl group stan more, and still being a girl group stan more. I don't believe in the 4th gen boy groups are bad, because I've expanded my tastes and did research on the many nugu bgs who don't get noticed and found some different diverse music
i couldn’t have put this in better words. i think it all depends on who you listen to, what you listen to and what songs you listen to. a few songs won’t determine the entire discography, for anyone you listen to.
honestly i agree. there are so many groups with different concepts. like kingdom for eg have such a unique concept. there are loud boygroups who also have varied bsides. there are groups like onlyoneof, onf, dkb, dkz, etc. if you really look.
@@yangverse People number 1 look at only the noise aspect of a bg or the dark aspect. Number 2 they look at only the titles. There are albums like Stray Kids thunderous album where the title is a noise one, but the bsides have some different sounds. Like people just use this excuse to hate on boy groups simply because they hate men in general (I know it's an exaggeration, but I've seen so many unpopular kpop opinions who say girl groups are better than boy groups or 4th gen boy groups sucks or boy groups do one type of sound or dark and noise music) simply because they never explored at all. If 4th gen bg music isn't just noise. I made a video once on the different boy group songs, and I wanted to add bsides as well for 4th gen bgs, but I couldn't because the video got to long, so I added one song by each boy group instead of all the songs I possibly could. It shows how many noiseless songs actually exist, yet people live in their delusional fantasy world that 4th gen bg are just noise or dark music.
The boy groups opinion is tired honestly 😭😭 like even the big 4 boy groups have different sounds and don't all sound alike look at enhypen, txt, treasure, stray kids and nct dream they are all creative and even take a look at boy groups from smaller companies they ain't all the same....I honestly don't understand the difference between boy groups and girl groups when it comes to creativity because most of the time they do the same concepts like dark concept, cute, bubble gum, retro etc if you don't vibe with boy groups it's alright people just shouldn't go around saying they ain't creative when we are having vampires, wolves, magic etc in boy groups and they ain't afraid in trying out new things
I'm confused about Opinion 4, because non top boy groups are all doing something different from another whereas all the top groups all kinda look, sound and feel alike. So I don't get the comment on "perhaps they don't have the budget". There's some very good and high budget boy group releases from a lot of slightly lesser known groups recently!
Yoongi is amazing as a solo artists, however put him on stage with the other members, it's absolute magic. The choreograph, interactions and ping pong between the members vocals and rap is something neither of the members can do alone. That's what makes BTS BTS. Like in my mind all of the members would be able to go solo and they would all be different in the way they do so, but that wouldn't be able to replace what they can do together. Now, regarding Ive's Kitsch, I just don't like it, and it has nothing to do with the line distribution and everything to do with the chorus. Everything else sounded good, but the chorus ruined it for me, so I just noped out.
absolute yess to your words about BTS, they really just are magic together and it make perfect sense 💜 and I definitely get your point about Kitsch, I'd say the chorus is the hardest part to get used to!
Talking about virality and numbers, Kitsch is in the top three of both daily and hourly unique listeners on Melon for songs released in 2023 (while I AM is at no. 1 for both). Kitsch also had 121 PAKs, 248 RAKS and it would have had more if it wasn't pushed down by I AM. So based on those criteria, it's definitely a strong contender. Its impact in Korea is HUGE and is regardless of how people subjectively feel about the song.
yeah i can totally see kitsch being nominated for a few soty award shows but once again i think the true contenders will be i am and queencard by the looks of it. love dive and tomboy 2.0 lmaoo
@@nightingale4786 Yeah, the saga continues 😅. I like both songs much better than Kitsch, but I didn't like how it was brushed off in the video as almost a random flop release, when in fact it's probably in the top 5 songs of this year in terms of achievements
I honestly agree a lot with the first opinion about Yoongi! He's amazing with BTS, but he's even MORE amazing when he's by himself. Besides, you would be lying to yourself if you say you don't enjoy Yoongi swearing like an uncle sailor ☺🤭
oh I 100% see where you're coming from! there's something just so amazing about seeing him up there in his element doing what he was born to do :') (I am also not against the swearing like a sailor hehe)
About the Yoongi opinion: I have to agree. I am an army and I really like to see all the members work together. However I feel like Yoongi worked more than the other members in his solo activities. Like, he hosted his own program, make a well succeded solo comeback, was the first member to have a solo tour and had appeared in several social events. Basically, every day he's doing something. Of course all the others member have work hard in their solo activities but we didn't see the same variety from them. That time as a soloist was good for him because we saw a lot of sides of him and could see more of his talents. Like, he showed a great stage presence in his solo concerts and his program was entertaining to watch. In the group, he's overshadow by the others. He is not an unpopular member, but he couldn't showed his full potential as now. So yes, despite I want the group to stay together, is undeniable that Suga is going well as a soloist.
Personally I really like S-Class but I think the song would be better without the old-style rap second verse. It stick out in a bad way from the rest of the song and absolutely kills the momentum build up from the chorus.
@@yangverse my thoughts exactly. When I listened to S-Class for the first time it reminded me of NMIXX right away but in their songs the switch up is way more fluid. I love the song and I listen to it a lot but no matter how many times I do the second verse still feels awkward and not fitting. It's disappointing since all the other parts are great. The song would be much better with the second verse more consistent with the first one.
Ohh so thats what most ppl don't like? I personally really liked it even tho it was a surprise. If you haven't yet you should check out the whole album! There is a song called 'Youtiful' written by chan for us STAYs. The whole album is great in my opinion! I feel like just because they make "noise music" people shouldn't hate on them. If people don't like it then don't listen to it/watch it instead of showing hate, right?❤
@@arinontop143 I'm Stay from 2019, of course I listened to the whole album ☺️ My top 5 are: Hall of Fame, DLC, FNF, Youtiful and S-Class. I just don't like this particular part but aside from that S-Class is really really cool imo.
I've already written about my opinion on S-Class before, so I'll just put it here: "I understand why some people might not like S-Class, but I think people should realize that that is a very subjective opinion and that they shouldn’t call it their “worst song”. I’ve seen multiple people say that they think S-Class is bad and that Stays will still support SKZ regardless because we stan them. Honestly, maybe it’s true that some Stays don’t like the song and are still supporting regardless, but that isn’t everybody. SKZ are my ults, but I’m not one to blindly praise them. I don’t think they are the most vocally strong group for example and I’m not the biggest fan of their title tracks a lot of the time. With all that in mind I would like to say that I genuinely consider S-Class to be my favorite title track from them. Not only that, but it is in my top 3 songs from the album and that almost never happens with title tracks for me. The first thing that impresses me about S-Class is how consistently good each part of the song is. There is at least 8 separate parts to this song and around 5 genres that they incorporated. With that many parts there is a likely hood that some parts outshine other parts and that can be a problem. In fact I encounter it often with songs that I will love one part of a song, but another part will just not hit for me in the same way and it will cause me to dislike the song overall because I want it to be more like that one part. However for me that was not the case for S-Class. Every part had its own unique charm to it and every part made me want to listen to it for a different reason. The variations in texture were absolute heaven. And then of course they all blended together nicely for me. I think it is the case that if you don’t like a certain genre of music that is included in this song you will like it less. Maybe you love the nice pretty pre chorus and the gritty chorus, but the sort of 90s West Coast rap bit isn’t you’re vibe. Well, then maybe you wished they hadn’t included that part. But as someone who has very few genre preferences, that just isn’t a big deal to me. And maybe you thought it was disjointed. I don’t think that’s an invalid opinion to hold. They switch this song up a lot and I kept getting disoriented/shocked the first time I listened to it. But honestly I like that feeling in music, it’s something I enjoy. And after I listened to the song a few times it’s wasn’t nearly as shocking anymore anyway. So like don’t get me wrong, I get why some people may dislike this song. It isn’t necessarily for everybody’s music tastes. But, I don’t think that makes it a bad song. In fact, I really wish SKZ would make more music like this. I compare S-Class to a movie with a lot of shock value. Some movies put shocking things in merely to be shocking and that’s fun the first time you watch, but it has very little replay value because those shocking things don’t serve the overall plot. That IS NOT S-Class for me. There is so much replay value in this song for me. I catch myself wanting to listen to this song over and over and over again. And if a song had a plot I think this one is done very well. This applies to Stray Kids overall, but I’ve honestly always liked how Stray Kids incorporate rap into their music. I find it often the case, with both Western and K-POP artists, but especially K-POP artists that rap parts can seem out of place or unneeded in a song. This doesn’t always ruin songs for me, but it has before. Yet the way Stray Kids uses rap in their song never comes off as out of place or un-tastefully sudden. It’s always seamless. Maybe some would say that the 90s part in S-Class is a bit sudden or out of place and perhaps I would agree if it weren’t for the fact that there are other similarly sudden and drastic changes in the song. A drastic change in a song with a lot of drastic changes isn’t out of place. Even the distortion that they use to make a transition into that bit is brought back later in the song and therefore doesn’t seem out of place to me. And the end of the chorus is made in a way that subtlety introduces the 90s West Coast vibe of the 2nd verse. The dance break at the end was a great way to end the song imo. It’s similar enough to sound more like a supplement for the chorus rather than an outro and so it gives you the vibe of listening to the chorus while also being very different and ending the song at new high point. There are so many other things that I could talk about when it comes to this song that I just absolutely love. But honestly for a lot of them I don’t think I’m knowledgeable enough to even try to explain why I think they’re good. The production of S-Class and so many of the other song on 5-STAR was great in my opinion. And with my very limited knowledge of Korean the lyrics too. From the wordplay in the choruses of S-Class and Item, to the beautiful imagery in Collision." I'd also like to say that I don't really personally view this song as a performance song. What really makes me like this song is all the little production details and those sort of get lost in live stages. I still like the song live, but honestly I think it takes away almost as much as it adds. Then again, I've always been more into the music side of K-POP rather than the performance side. Also, if I'm being honest I'm not sure I understand the point about the chorus because they only play it "normally" once. The 2nd time is almost "normal", but its distorts the lyrics and the ending chorus doesn't really resemble the actual chorus that much, which I do like because while I do enjoy the chorus I could see it getting annoying if it was repeated normally 3 times like most songs. I'm pretty sure the only part of this song that plays through the exact same way twice is the pre-chorus.
i mean i don't get why idols got so many hate for cringe lyrics in rap. i like american hiphop but its the same in america. most of the raps are about sex , private parts of womens body , drugs alcohol and ... and people really enjoy that.
With s class and the whole album, it definitely seems not my style, but i’ve thought that about other skz and then come around. It seems like some leftovers were thrown into a soup and given to very talented people with top tier stage presence. The chorus grates a little because of the onamonapia but i will watch the live show performances because stage presence. skz has one of the best stage presences & performances period, so that helps.
TXT is so divers they have a song for every mood your in. Toured through a lot of genres already and slayed all of them. So excited for their Digital Single in July😍
S-Class didn't work for me but the drop after the first verse threw me off and I was confused on why they had it there and if it was a call out to NMIXX old songs and when they went back to the same beat as before the drop it just didn't tick the same in my brain
Congrats on the 10k and double congrats on getting engaged! An interesting set of opinions to react to as per usual! I hadn't heard S-Class. Just watched the video, and when it got to the chorus I actually said "Oh dear..." out loud. It's less S-class and more Class A Felony - Murder of a Song That Was Perfectly Good Up To That Point in the First Degree. Definitely have to agree on the lack of variety in boy groups - the only songs I listen to from boy groups are all from a few years ago like Hyde or Voodoo Doll from Vixx, and I couldn't even name many groups or songs that came out recently. Compare that with a girl group like Purple Kiss who can do everything from off-kilter bops like Nerdy, light fun songs like Agit, dark and emotionally complex songs like T4ke and Ponzona, or whatever you'd class Sweet Juice as, all great, all immediately identifiable as Purple Kiss - heck even the intro on that album is great. None of the new boy groups seem to have a distinct identity and it's a real shame - there's a huge opportunity for a new group though if they can nail that. Sorry IVE, my song of the year is Dreamcatcher B-side Propose. I am too old to be this obsessed with one song :-) Autotune...dicey subject but I understand why it's used. The thing that really gets me with post-processing that bugs me the most is the overly loud backing track that still has the vocals on during live performances - even my ult Dreamcatcher get this treatment despite having some of the most capable vocalists in all of K-pop. Sometimes, any group might go wrong, or it's simply not physically possible to do the choreography and sing live, and I'm okay with that. It's the nuances and ad libs that breathe life into a live performance, and I think sometimes the backing track throws off the live vocals.
To follow up my previous comment, here's some (slightly) lesser stanned gen 4 boy groups that I would highly recommend if you want a more refreshing sound: TNX, ATBO, YOUNITE, TEMPEST, HAWW, JUST B, VICTON, TRENDZ, NINE.i, CRAVITY, OMEGA X. Especially TNX, YOUNITE, TEMPEST NINE.i and CRAVITY put out a lot of high quality fun/retro/energetic bops.
the grat example of good autotune is park sumin. she is an rnb soloist and producer. the autotune in her songs are fantastic and listenable. if i want to hive you example , listen to her cover of newjeans cookie . the autotune its really heavy in it but its really enjoyable . also i really like autitune of jimins set me free pt2.
yk what my one issue with kitsch is? it's the fact that they have no idea what kitsch is and use it so randomly in the lyrics, that's my one nitpick about the song! besides that, it isn't soty but it's a good song for their discography! it fits well with the album it's part of
While I think BTS are great as a group, I get why people want suga to go solo. I feel like when he is on stage by himself ge shines even brighter than he did before. His raps go hard and he has great stage presence so uts understandable.
You are spot-on with your commentaries on these unpopular opinions. Speaking on boy groups, ones I have enjoyed recently are How Are You by HAWW, Seven Sins by Drippin, Macarena by Blitzers, Jump by P1harmony & New Dayz by Trendz. Love when you do these type of commentaries, Fran. 💖🥰✌️
About auto tune in songs: I honestly don’t mind it, but I totally agree that it’s best used within reason. I’m a Carat, but I really didn’t like the overuse of stylistic autotune in HOT by svt. I really didn’t think the song needed it, and when it’s performed live it’s used way less and sounds so much better! But on the flip side I love it in GameBoi and Ash. Crank up the tpain warble wooziP!! I don’t really have a point here 😅, I just wanted to get it off my chest about HOT I think!
ahah don't worry no point required, I'm more than happy for you to air something you need to get off your chest here! 😄 (plus don't worry I completely see your point about HOT!)
Im so glad someone agrees with me about S-class. Stray kids is mu top group but the song just feels so amazing. Theres more beat/style changes than in Nmixx or Aespa songs and it just doesnt flow cohesively to me
okay, for s class the more i listen to it the more i dont like it...? like the whole song is so good and when i heard it tor the first time i was amazed but... there are two parts of the song i dont like , the beginning of the song it ssems like it would slap you on your face😂 and the part where changbin and hyunjin sing their part of the bridg i think it's not well build, otherwise i like the whole song i like the changing up as well. the mv is so creative and insane even though i like case 143 as mv but both are so good.
i personally believe all of the hyung line will be very well off as solo. Tbh all of bts. Its because most of bts' songs are written by the hyung line and yoongi produces a lot of their songs. Most of song credits go to them. And their solo albums where my favs. Indigo was beautiful, we moved on too fast, jack in the box is my fav and agust D ofc making hit after hit. Ofc even the maknae line because obv theyre more famous than the hyung line and got more die hard fans.
If you people complain about boy groups doing the same concept again and again, then stan Cravity, they make a different concept every comeback and all of them are bops, it's so simple.
i get exactly what you mean with s-class. the chorus isn’t really for lots of people, bc it gets more vocal rather than instrumental. skz even said that they didn’t know how to feel about if s-class should’ve been the title track. as it does fit as one (and i personally really like s-class to just listen to. i love the bridge, and the part where they sing “swerving i’m spinning on serpent road” LIKE OMGGGGG) anyway i feel like for everyone, it look 4-8 listens to really get them hyped. HOWEVER i watched the mv 4 times and that’s what got me to explode about this song. basically my point is i completely agree with the 1st opinion on this song. in order to REALLY enjoy this song as a song is to watch the music video with it. and as i listen to the song by itself, i can’t help but to sing along or kinda imagine the music video. i loved this album so much! i ADORED all the b-sides and the title track and i’m glad nobody it wasn’t just me who was a little “eehhh” about this song on the first listen. but please don’t hate me when i say this but TOPLINE is kinda… well i like it but it’s seriously overrated :’) LIKE C’MON THERE ARE MUCH BETTER SONGS IN THE ALBUM THAN TOPLINE now for the 4th gen boy groups giving up… yeah i really don’t listen to new boy groups, but the reason i have something to say about this entire opinion is because there’s something many people need to understand, that is hard to realize and i don’t blame you guys for this. there are a lot more concepts girl groups can do that actually _fits them_ rather than boy groups. i mean seeing a bg try the cute concept is sad :’) the concepts that ggs use don’t really make you think of boy groups. mainly because they already exist and fit some girl groups super well! unique concepts like the horror concept or the ‘relatable chilled out teen’ fit groups like *Dreamcatcher* and *NewJeans* already right? isn’t hard to imagine those concepts as boy groups? i don’t even know what concept lots of bgs have tbh 🤣 except for *Enhypen* bc they’re absolutely crushing the vampire concept. AUTOTUNE _IS_ GREAT. nobody knows what it is but let’s say you have this certain song, and you know, you’re just listening and maybe dancing a little and all of a sudden you get this STRONG AUTOTUNED PART THAT JUST SLAPS SO HARD YOU PRACTICALLY FLY TO ANDROMEDA. it’s just top quality, pure, EPICNESS *EVEN JYP MADE IT ICONIC*
I feel autotune is great , when used properly. Otherwise there are times when it's done in such an obnoxious way , especially in kpop (jimins set me free for example, like I personally hate how he sounds after the first chorus 😭)
Damn, what a great comment! Agree, when you watch the MV for certain songs, it gives you a lot more appreciation for them, and going back to S-Class, for example, the beginning where they’re gently swaying with Hyunjin at the front? Like DAMN, it made me appreciate this part so much more And yes, Autotune is cool! I treat autotune like it is a normal musical instrument, so it can be used well or not. But its existence IN ITSELF is not bad whatsoever.
forget topline being overrated, everyone's hyping up super bowl instead ! (i don't find it too be particularly great, it's funny and all, but slightly annoying) there are some songs where autotune adds this neat effect, but it's definitely an artistic choice
I couldn’t agree less with the person who says that there aren’t bad raps or that we are basically too stupid to understand the genius behind bad lyrics. Just no. People are allowed to dislike music and to criticise it. As long as it doesn’t get personal and hateful, people can express their opinion freely. I also disagree with the notion that all lyrics have life lessons. First of all, no, they don’t. Not all songs are supposed to be incredibly deep. Sometimes silly lyrics are just that, silly. And even if there is some hidden meaning to the lyrics and a great message, that doesn’t mean everyone has to like it. It’s the same with songs that actually have great lyrics with obvious messages: you will find people who still don’t like them and that’s completely fine. Then again, I doubt that the majority of silly K-pop lyrics are secretly incredible meaningful. This statement really gives 8th grade’s English class in which teachers try to find meaning in every sentence of some old novel. I also disagree with the part about English not being their first language, so non sense lyrics should be excused. I am sorry, but we live in 2023. Are you really trying to tell me that idols like Soyeon has no way to reach out to a person who actually speaks English? Even if it’s no official translator, she probably has at least one friend who is good at English and whom she could turn to. Same goes for other idols and in the very unbelievable case that this isn’t given, then they shouldn’t use a language they don’t know in their lyrics or just accept that people are going to make fun of lyrics that don’t even make sense. After all, this is a song you present to the world and not a middle school project.
What I find so sad about s-class is that the Pre chorus and bridge are SO good , but yet the rest of it is disappointing, I feel like if the vocal parts were in their own song and the rap sections (especially the one after the first chorus) where in their own too , they would be 2 great songs , but as one , it's just too much . The Chorus is just too.......messy and so unlistenable .
@@binniewinnie244 yeah, a lot of people don't like the changes in songs. But thats what skz does they put the elemets that most ppl hate about their songs and put them all together with all their feelings in it! For example in ITEM they pronounce Item as ai-ttame😂
While I am more likely to dislike autotune than like it, sometimes I like it. It just has to work well with the song. I could probably stand less of it. tw for anyone who doesn't want to read this much & values their time 🤣 long post here Regarding 4G BGs; I like “noise music” (is that a concept lol). There are a lot of groups and songs debuting, comebacks, etc. It’s overwhelming. I didn’t know there were fewer BGs than GGs in 4th gen. I agree with others who say 4G BGs don’t sound the same, but I think that always tends to be the case when you like a genre and others don’t like it and vice versa. I can see how it sounds the same to people who are _not_ into it, but it does _not_ sound all the same to people who _do_ like it. Dating myself here 🫢 but it was this way with the 90s grunge/seattle rock sound. It did NOT all sound the same to those of us who were into it. But it DID sound the same to people who were _not_ into it. And especially later, when any genre becomes “retro”; it can more easily, in our minds, have a recognizable sound that can be characterized by the common features of that genre of music and the time period. I think this is human nature and really just relative to individual experience and preferences. A lot of other commenters brought this up but i agree that because 4G is probably more internationally driven than 3G or 2G. And it means there may be a more, idk, rougher sounds?, more profanity etc. But, there are so many more groups and releases to choose from. Note I said international, not meaning “American” or “outside of East Asia”, but a bigger and more “diverse” population. With capitalism monopoly or near monopoly is always a problem which is why it is better if there are more agencies, have some mechanism that limits monopoly, and preferably _not_ have the environment where one big agency can “blacklist” someone from getting exposure, securing spots on shows, etc. Of course, this is my opinion. Each national origin can make their own rules, and especially as this particular industry has exploded, especially on the scale of its national population. As we can all see there have been and will continue to be challenges that need to be addressed. [I kind of go off the topic here, so, read at own risk] Speaking of 4G, but not just 4G, and speaking of marketing. I can not deal with young people in s*xy concepts; neither boys nor girls. I wish these management companies would just not. Regarding 4G BGs, they are by far and away designed for teenage girls or young women (not _only_ girls/women of course). I have never seen or heard of any other music genre, time, national origin or really anything else, never ever in my life, that places _at least_ an equal, if not MORE emphasis on the visual and especially ’s*xy” concept with boys/men (as the objects) than girls/women. I say this as an observation about how marketing works, and I do not mean to be heterocentric in any ‘prescriptive’ way. This just my observation/description. It has been known for a couple of decades now that young girls/younger women are a massive and coveted market. There are reports that stores sell around 2X the toys, clothes, not to mention stuff like makeup, than stuff in the “boys section”. I won’t even get started on “girls/boys section” or w/e that is another can of worms. My point is that these agencies have captured that coveted predominantly young female audience, in a no short of genius way from a profit standpoint. With this market, we have the stanning culture. The expectation of loyalty. The emotional attachment/parasocialiality. The camaraderie of being part of a fandom. People talk about fandoms like they are part of the same family. They say things like ‘welcome to [fandom name]'. I am not saying this to make fun of anyone. There are all of the extraneous reinforcements that mostly exist in online space. The cultivation of for example, ships; confusing fantasy with reality. Like iphones and video games and many other devices they create and reinforce an almost addicted quality among the consumers. You and others have talked about this. All of this together is not necessarily just bad, it is not worse than other markets. There is some good, and some bad, like most things in life. I won’t go on too much, because I could, but no one needs to see a bigger encyclopedia from me. Marketing is manipulation. With any “commodity”, not just kpop/music/idols. Yes, I did use the word commodity. Which makes it somewhat uncomfortable when we know we are talking about people being commodified. As well as the manipulation of the consumer base who are also people. But it’s not like people aren’t commodified in other markets. These problems exist everywhere. And there is also the good. Music is therapeutic. I could go on. Do not think I am discounting talent, vocals, dance skills, and everything else; not at all. I would say though, that those have always been important in the US market and worldwide, so that is not a change. The main difference is the objectification, or “visual” emphasis on boys/men being so important, as opposed to the usual and traditional case, which has been about 10x to 100x more emphasis on beauty, youth, objectification, and so on when it comes to when girls/women who are the objects. I know this kinda drifted away from what you were talking about with 4G BGs being kind of the same. JS that this phenomenon is a very striking and marked distinction.
1. I would say I agree but disagree. Like of course he was great in bts but he was amazing as a soloist, so I'm with you on this one. 2. Well, it depends. There have been cringe lyrics from Australian, Canadian, and American rappers. But with Soyeon yeah, you would have to listen to the explicit version to know what she was saying. And she didn't deserve the hate, since she isn't a native English speaker. Sometimes lyrics are supposed to be "bad" or a little cringe. But, I do somewhat agree. 3. I understand that it might not be everyone's taste, as you said it's subjective. I do like a few of their b-sides a little better than S-Class 4. I get where they are coming from. But I wouldn't say I agree as much I wouldn't say I disagree. So I'm in the middle. 5. Hmm, personally no, I still like the song. But, again subjective. 6. Yes, sometimes it's great to use autotune. Maybe it's to make them sound a certain way on purpose, not to make their voice better.
I do love autotune if used for the song to be good. Autotune can be used extremely well and sound extremely nice thanks to the autotune which might not have been able to be done without it. I think my favorite autotune user is the khiphop artist Jvcki Wai. Her songs are very autotune heavy, but the songs would not be the same nor would they be as nice without the heavy autotune because autotune in her songs is used as a tool to create those stylistic sounds which makes the songs great.
I mean... I don't think he'd be better going solo, but he clearly can and is proving that he doesn't need BTS to make it. I guess he could be better mentally, health wise... probably less famous so more personal freedom? But as a Suga stan happy to see that even if BTS disbands my man can still make income alone 😂
yess I deffo agree in the sense that as a Suga stan, it's been so lovely to see that he will still get the support he rightfully deserves as a soloist too!
probably an unpopular opinion, but i never thought soyeon's rap in tomboy was cringe, mainly bc the flow of her rap against the muted guitar of the instrumental was always earcandy to me. furthermore, i wonder if this is smth most monolingual speakers deal with: the inability to make sense of english if the s/v/o order isnt followed and/or incorrect articles are used/omitted. i've seen SO many people not just say that soyeon's rap is 'cringe' but that they literally can't understand what she's saying. i don't know if they're just saying that to be mean (bc it's no longer criticism and teetering into xenophobia if that's the case) or if they are genuinely having a difficult time making sense of the verse. i almost wish cube didn't limit her from doing the korean verse she initially had written for tomboy.
i can’t picture any member of bts being better solo than together, the closest is probably jhope and i am not a stan nor have any bias and no offense to any of them bc they are all talented afaik. but they seem to have good chemistry together. perhaps this opinion is more for live shows so fair enough because i wouldn't know about that. i am sure i could be proven wrong over time but thus far that is my opinion.
I have luvd bts chapt 2, might b 1 of my fav eras of bts n some ways, even though it has been bittersweet (i came n rapline biased during hyyh & wings made me ot7), but i don't think we would have gotten this version of suga/Agust D w/out bts. 2025 is gonna b amazing after they have expressed & challenged themselves individually✌💜🙏
"i don't think we would have gotten this version of suga/Agust D w/out bts" - I love this point so much, you're so right! BTS' journey together is what has made them who they are today, both as a group and individuals 💜
I was trying to figure out what you meant by ‘rapping in a language u r not fluent’ (paraphrasing) because i’m like they all know Korean. Then you said they (commenters/redditors) are talking about soyeon rapping in English? 😳😮 Are you serious? wtf is wrong with ppl? It is called **K**-POP! 🙄
k i am trying to be respectful of the opinions u r reading. But people really gave u ish about military conscription. 😳 as if u made the laws there? ok i am not a hawk but who tf am i to tell another country what to do, especially one with an dmz on it’s border, no fly zone on its border & its particular history wtf
2nd opinion is dumb......there r good rapper in korea and in kpop so why do we understand the nuances and the delivery while others just use stupid references and call it a day?!!traduction doesn't erase the meaning of the lyrics nor does it excuse the korean rap version.....bad rapper exist and its cringe as hell even in korean........people act like attacking some idols rappers means we attack all korean rappers which is not the case. Give a listen to bts rap line kpoppers and u will understand why ur fav r bad....really bad.
4th generation boy groups never stood a chance against the girl groups to the point of companies targeting male and female fans with girl groups not even the hybe boy group couldn't stand a chance due to the toxic army that don't want anyone to replace bts and now with the 5th generation about to start with the upcoming new boy /girl groups the 4th generation boy group is done
the grat example of good autotune is park sumin. she is an rnb soloist and producer. the autotune in her songs are fantastic and listenable. if i want to hive you example , listen to her cover of newjeans cookie . the autotune its really heavy in it but its really enjoyable . also i really like autitune of jimins set me free pt2.
Pride month jokes aside, BTS are a rainbow, they're so jaw droppingly incredible together but it would be crazy to deny that any color isn't beautiful on its own. And within a rainbow, you can only see a limited shade range, even when the color comes in many different shades. I'm so happy that we get to see all the different shades of the members that they aren't able to show us within the group but I'll always be waiting to see the rainbow!
perfectly said!!
'BTS are a rainbow' I love this so much 🥺💖
personally i believe all the varied boy groups are under smaller labels. people only see the portion of boy groups making loud music and complain about there being no fun or bright concepts when there are groups like cravity and tempest for eg.
That’s not true though, there are a ton of big company groups that could do any concepts, people really just pay attention to there louder songs because they tend to be more popular for example: Nct Dream, Shinee, Winner, Seventeen
All are big3 groups that have done many different concepts including bright concepts very well
@@dibidibidis3367 all the examples you mentioned are 3rd gej bgs. People complain about 4th gen bgs
@@jAyBCD1 well in that case Txt, Wayv are both very versatile with concepts and from big companies, But I do agree 4th Gen boy groups are very lacking when it comes to concepts and it’s typically smaller company’s with versatility in their boy groups.
@@dibidibidis3367 yeah. Even the "noise bgs" have good bsides. Look at stray kids, they make noise tracks, but have amazing bsides

I think their group dynamic is special and that they would never leave the group to to solo but they'll definitely cultivate more personal projects in spare time
Right, the solos just add, they don't subtract.
That come back was very hyped by the fandom but didn't get as viral as the previous three 😐
And now they dropped S Class and I love everything about this piece (though I know the chorus may be annoying). I can totally listen to it without MV. But to be honest I think this song sounds the best with the rest of 5 Stars album. Which, btw, makes my jaw drop. This album is full of different vibes but somehow all parts fit together and make you sink in 😻
I know it's a matter of taste so not everyone will like this come back but I really hope it would at least get respect that it deserves for it's quality.
it's definitely hard to write lyrics in a language that isn't your mother tongue; if you don't speak the second language fluently, and I do love Soyeon's rap in Tomboy.
I showed queencard to my friend who normally doesn't listen to kpop but she loved the song...except for that part. it put her off, but im ok with it. maybe its a stylistic choice. i thought they were trying to get it right but failed. it seems like they like it this way.
as much as i love yoongi as a soloist and all of the members solo projects, there is something magical when all of them come together on stage. for example, jhope solo performance at lolla was incredible, but he shined just as much when performing run bts, the performance was literally one of the best i saw,
I do think that all of the members, especially yoongi and hobi, would do a great job as soloist and are peobably better than a lot of other kpop soloist, but bts performance allow them to shine individually as well, i don't think a group is idk holding them back or whatever, i think performing actually let them shine brighter than when they're solo
For a boy group with a unique concept, I recommend KINGDOM. Their concept is kings throughout the ages. Their debuted was in 2021 with the song called Excalibur, which is inspired by Arthurian legend and their tracks are K-pop with some influences in the instrumentals from the time. And their performances are so elaborate too.
i love kingdom. they're an eg of a group that's committed to their concept which imo is really well thought out too
their latest EP had the b-side Song of the Wind and it genuinely was my most replayed song of that month.
@@nadithyaweerasinghe6741 YES
@@jAyBCD1 for real.
Everything else sounded good, but the chorus ruined it for me, so I just noped out.
absolute yess to your words about BTS, they really just are magic together and it make perfect sense 💜
and I definitely get your point about Kitsch, I'd say the chorus is the hardest part to get used to!
Ditto or OMG by NewJeans will also get a nomination for Song of the Year at the year end awards.
It stick out in a bad way from the rest of the song and absolutely kills the momentum build up from the chorus.
i agree.. they kinda pulled an nmixx. nmixx knows how to put it in the right songs but i don’t think s-class really needed the switch up
@@yangverse my thoughts exactly.
@@askara9234 yup!!
I've already written about my opinion on S-Class before, so I'll just put it here:
"I understand why some people might not like S-Class, but I think people should realize that that is a very subjective opinion and that they shouldn’t call it their “worst song”.
From the wordplay in the choruses of S-Class and Item, to the beautiful imagery in Collision."
I'd also like to say that I don't really personally view this song as a performance song.
Double standards.
To me they're both cringe but the flow with American artists e.g Nikki Minaj have great flow so it sounds better.
Whether or not Yoongi is better off solo or in a group, that's on Yoongi to decide not y'all. 💀

yess exactly the same experience I had! now I'd say I like it, but it did take me a while to 'get used to'
With s class and the whole album, it definitely seems not my style, but i’ve thought that about other skz and then come around.
So excited for their Digital Single in July😍
you're right, now that I think about it, there really is a TXT song for every mood :o
I am too old to be this obsessed with one song :-)
Autotune...dicey subject but I understand why it's used.
Especially TNX, YOUNITE, TEMPEST NINE.i and CRAVITY put out a lot of high quality fun/retro/energetic bops.
i agree sm. i feel like if you know your bgs you'll know they have very varied concepts and music lol
S-Class is soty imo definitely a masterpiece!! Literally cannot stop listening to it ❤️👏🏻
aw I love that omg! I'm still waiting for it to fully grow on my so I can blast it like I do the rest of skz's discography, I really hope it does! ❤️
the grat example of good autotune is park sumin. she is an rnb soloist and producer. the autotune in her songs are fantastic and listenable. if i want to hive you example , listen to her cover of newjeans cookie . the autotune its really heavy in it but its really enjoyable . also i really like autitune of jimins set me free pt2.
yk what my one issue with kitsch is? it's the fact that they have no idea what kitsch is and use it so randomly in the lyrics, that's my one nitpick about the song! besides that, it isn't soty but it's a good song for their discography! it fits well with the album it's part of
I think the original lyrics are 90s bitch but ofc kpop has to deliver kid friendly ass songs so ig the only thing they came up with is kitsch
@@seulgislove yeah that's probably the case, it just bugged me when I read the translated lyrics
that's such a good point omg, they could have done something cool with the lyrics had the word been used correctly!
While I think BTS are great as a group, I get why people want suga to go solo. I feel like when he is on stage by himself ge shines even brighter than he did before. His raps go hard and he has great stage presence so uts understandable.
As a massive hip hop fan I love s class
Yess that's definitely understandable, especially with the 2nd verse!
You are spot-on with your commentaries on these unpopular opinions. Speaking on boy groups, ones I have enjoyed recently are
How Are You by HAWW, Seven Sins by Drippin, Macarena by Blitzers, Jump by P1harmony & New Dayz by Trendz. Love when you do these type of commentaries, Fran. 💖🥰✌️
Also The New Six's (TNX) comeback album with Kick It 4 Now has a really fresh throwback sound.
thank you so much! ooh also I haven't listened to HAWW yet so tysm for mentioning them, I will go check them out now!😀💖
About auto tune in songs: I honestly don’t mind it, but I totally agree that it’s best used within reason.

If you people complain about boy groups doing the same concept again and again, then stan Cravity, they make a different concept every comeback and all of them are bops, it's so simple.
yess I am loving Cravity atm I must admit 💖
@@dearyoongi Well, you have taste.
2:35 the thing is, the solos didnt have to be necessarily attached to the enlistment, it could still take place in their careers without it you know?
i get exactly what you mean with s-class. the chorus isn’t really for lots of people, bc it gets more vocal rather than instrumental. skz even said that they didn’t know how to feel about if s-class should’ve been the title track. as it does fit as one (and i personally really like s-class to just listen to. i love the bridge, and the part where they sing “swerving i’m spinning on serpent road” LIKE OMGGGGG) anyway i feel like for everyone, it look 4-8 listens to really get them hyped. HOWEVER i watched the mv 4 times and that’s what got me to explode about this song. basically my point is i completely agree with the 1st opinion on this song. in order to REALLY enjoy this song as a song is to watch the music video with it. and as i listen to the song by itself, i can’t help but to sing along or kinda imagine the music video. i loved this album so much! i ADORED all the b-sides and the title track and i’m glad nobody it wasn’t just me who was a little “eehhh” about this song on the first listen. but please don’t hate me when i say this but TOPLINE is kinda… well i like it but it’s seriously overrated :’) LIKE C’MON THERE ARE MUCH BETTER SONGS IN THE ALBUM THAN TOPLINE
now for the 4th gen boy groups giving up… yeah i really don’t listen to new boy groups, but the reason i have something to say about this entire opinion is because there’s something many people need to understand, that is hard to realize and i don’t blame you guys for this. there are a lot more concepts girl groups can do that actually _fits them_ rather than boy groups. i mean seeing a bg try the cute concept is sad :’)
the concepts that ggs use don’t really make you think of boy groups. mainly because they already exist and fit some girl groups super well! unique concepts like the horror concept or the ‘relatable chilled out teen’ fit groups like *Dreamcatcher* and *NewJeans* already right? isn’t hard to imagine those concepts as boy groups? i don’t even know what concept lots of bgs have tbh 🤣 except for *Enhypen* bc they’re absolutely crushing the vampire concept.
AUTOTUNE _IS_ GREAT. nobody knows what it is but let’s say you have this certain song, and you know, you’re just listening and maybe dancing a little and all of a sudden you get this STRONG AUTOTUNED PART THAT JUST SLAPS SO HARD YOU PRACTICALLY FLY TO ANDROMEDA. it’s just top quality, pure, EPICNESS
*EVEN JYP MADE IT ICONIC*
I feel autotune is great , when used properly.
Otherwise there are times when it's done in such an obnoxious way , especially in kpop (jimins set me free for example, like I personally hate how he sounds after the first chorus 😭)
@@eem8736 okay okay okay when you put it that way.. definitely. some songs don’t need it but others are fantastic with it 🤣🤣
Damn, what a great comment!
Agree, when you watch the MV for certain songs, it gives you a lot more appreciation for them, and going back to S-Class, for example, the beginning where they’re gently swaying with Hyunjin at the front? Like DAMN, it made me appreciate this part so much more
And yes, Autotune is cool! I treat autotune like it is a normal musical instrument, so it can be used well or not. But its existence IN ITSELF is not bad whatsoever.
@@mnif001 thank you! and i totally agree. hyunjin’s part was so cool 🤣
forget topline being overrated, everyone's hyping up super bowl instead ! (i don't find it too be particularly great, it's funny and all, but slightly annoying)
there are some songs where autotune adds this neat effect, but it's definitely an artistic choice
Yes, I agree. The song feels disjointed. I don't hate the song but I don't love it either.
It really just depends on your taste. I for one think it’s perfect😂
I feel the same! I do really like the prechoruses, but I'm not a fan of where they build to when we get to that chorus 😅
@@binniewinnie244 yeah, a lot of people don't like the changes in songs. But thats what skz does they put the elemets that most ppl hate about their songs and put them all together with all their feelings in it! For example in ITEM they pronounce Item as ai-ttame😂
@@arinontop143 I love it so much💕
I look forward to your uploads 💐💕 I always enjoy your content!
You're so lovely, thank you so much! 💖
While I am more likely to dislike autotune than like it, sometimes I like it. It just has to work well with the song. I could probably stand less of it.
tw for anyone who doesn't want to read this much & values their time 🤣 long post here
Regarding 4G BGs; I like “noise music” (is that a concept lol).
[I kind of go off the topic here, so, read at own risk]
Speaking of 4G, but not just 4G, and speaking of marketing.
I do like a few of their b-sides a little better than S-Class
But as a Suga stan happy to see that even if BTS disbands my man can still make income alone 😂
yess I deffo agree in the sense that as a Suga stan, it's been so lovely to see that he will still get the support he rightfully deserves as a soloist too!
a kpop song i think had too much autotune is ciipher's i like you lol. i feel like that song would be more listenable without the autotune
Oh yes I 100% see what you mean here!
The autotune made the song better in my opinion.
I agree with the 6th opinion
probably an unpopular opinion, but i never thought soyeon's rap in tomboy was cringe, mainly bc the flow of her rap against the muted guitar of the instrumental was always earcandy to me. furthermore, i wonder if this is smth most monolingual speakers deal with: the inability to make sense of english if the s/v/o order isnt followed and/or incorrect articles are used/omitted. i've seen SO many people not just say that soyeon's rap is 'cringe' but that they literally can't understand what she's saying. i don't know if they're just saying that to be mean (bc it's no longer criticism and teetering into xenophobia if that's the case) or if they are genuinely having a difficult time making sense of the verse. i almost wish cube didn't limit her from doing the korean verse she initially had written for tomboy.
i can’t picture any member of bts being better solo than together, the closest is probably jhope and i am not a stan nor have any bias and no offense to any of them bc they are all talented afaik. but they seem to have good chemistry together. perhaps this opinion is more for live shows so fair enough because i wouldn't know about that. i am sure i could be proven wrong over time but thus far that is my opinion.
He will flop.
Those who left their group by thinking superior of themselves flopped very hard.
Editing slays❤
ahh thank you so much!💜
Kitsch kitsch kitsch kitsch kitsch kitsch kitsch
literally what the inside of my head sounds like ahah
2nd one uhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh no, some songs get a pass like if Soyeon writes something thats just a bit off, thats cool.
others no.
Who is the girl from the Thumbnail?
opinion 3, are you saying that thunderous is easy to listen to 😭
Skz is sooo diverse so I don’t get the “4gen are all the same”
OMG i channel that gives opinions without bashing groups or idols ❤❤
Like i disagree with you most of the video but that ok, I respect you opinion
thank you so much!❤️ don't worry that's okay, I love hearing when people have different opinions but can respect each others!
1St one agree
2nd kinda disagree
rest mixed opinions
yayy thank you for sharing your thoughts!
k i am trying to be respectful of the opinions u r reading.
S class sucked the b sides were better
That's a really rude way to word it.
