I agree, So Long London is a better track 5 for me and was a great choice. Maybe it's because of what I've personally experienced with the same guy who hurt me so deeply that I always would think of him when I heard the 5 min version of All Too Well. I don't relate quite as strongly to Loml even though both Loml and All Too Well have some themes in common. Something about So Long London is what really gets to me. And You're Losing Me. They are so great at capturing such a vibe of goodbye.

I hate it when people say she's "unfairly complaining" or "being ungrateful" in ICDIWABH. She just broke up with her boyfriend of SIX YEARS while having to perform love songs about him every night. Of course she's gonna be heartbroken. If she moved on quickly and didn't write that song, people would still attack her for moving on too fast! Let her feel what she's feeling, just because she's a billionaire doesn't mean she can't be upset.

Idk- I think this song is about her heartbreak with losing Matty 🤷🏻♀️ when you add it with all the others (in particular: smallest man who ever lived where shes asking if wrecking her sparkling summer was the goal)
On top of that, I think it's actually really powerful. I don't think she's even complaining. I think she's saying yea I'm badass! I can do it with a broken heart, y'all!!! I feel like it's super relatable as someone who has a basic 9-5, like there are days where I'm struggling with something outside of work, but I still show up and do my best.

The begging for MORE new albums, and the last 2 taylors versions especially right after we just got a new album is disrespectful to Taylor and Tortured Poets. Everyone has been theorizing and begging for a double album and she gave it to us! How in the world can anyone right after be like - ok, next? I'm still fathoming songs, haven't even listening to anything else since it dropped.

That's what I was saying when 1989 TV first dropped. It was the rerecord I was most excited for because, it's my favorite album and it really bummed me out that Rep stans started asking for Rep TV 😢 I am excited for Rep TV too but, can we enjoy what we have for right now? TTPD needs to have its moment. It's only been out for little more than a month.

My unpopular opinion is I hate when people invalidate Taylor’s feelings like when people said certain songs shouldn’t be a track 5 have you ever thought that maybe she thought it deserved that because it was devastating for her. Also the constant complaining about how certain songs should be on the setlist she plays 44 songs she isn’t going to make the show like you want jsut because of you I can name countless reasons why debut isn’t on the setlist. Fans need to stop demanding more for her she has put out like 4 technically 5 albums since 2020 plus the tvs and the movie and possibly the other 2 tvs this year we could get we are spoiled and people always want more like grow up please.

“i’m just mad as hell cause i loved this place for so long” can refer to both the actual place, and joe, the person
the saddest line to me in so long london is “my friends said it isn’t right to be scared every day of a love affair”, it just really makes you wonder what she was going through. was she scared of him leaving, was she scared of taking up space, was she scared of getting into fights? and the fact that she can’t recognize the fact that their relationship isn’t right and is only saying what her friends told her. so so heartbreaking and vulnerable
the way i digested that line was that she was scared she would start to move on/develop feelings for another person when she was still supposed to be faithful to this person you’re still technically in a relationship with. for me it kinda went along with fresh out the slammer if you interpret the slammer as her relationship with joe and her wanting to be with matty after getting out of that experience

In my opinion, the intro and outro “am I allowed to cry” in Guilty AS is Taylor asking if she’s allowed to cry over her current relationship (with Joe) while she’s already wanting someone else (Matty). It’s her being like, “am I allowed to cry over the death of my current relationship even though I want to be out of it and with someone else?”

honestly i took it as joe was suicidal. "every breath feels like the rarest air when you're not sure if he wants to be there". a lot of the songs allude to joe being really depressed, and to add onto that, he played nick in conversations with friends and said he really related to the mental health aspect of nick. nick was in and out of mental hospitals with suicide attempts

Precisely. The second you start gatekeeping pain is the second you invite people to gatekeep *your* pain for whatever reason they can come up with. Money protects people from a LOT, don't get me wrong, but it doesn't protect you from everything (and also causes some unique issues). To say rich people experience NO pain or hardship at ALL is to deny reality.
THANK YOU for encouraging concert ear protection. As someone who has tinnitus (constant permanent - like for the rest of my life - ringing it in my ears 24/7), I am BEGGING anyone attending any concert to please protect your ears. Once the damage is done, it is done. Concert grade ear plugs are not expensive. Living with permanent damage is life changing. Please don’t risk it.

I completely missed Wildest Dreams from two teenage girls SCREAMING it one row back. I was wearing earplugs and my ears were ringing from it. At this point it’s not sining or even belting along it is screaming. I hate tiktok for making this a thing.
I didn't understand the problem until I saw a couple videos with the type of screaming people are complaining about, and yeah that's absolutely a problem. I don't know how people can even *do* that for so long without trashing their voice completely.

Ally I could not agree more about the acronyms!! I never know what they are! I literally know every Taylor swift song but I have to sit and think for a while to figure out the acronyms 😂

Ok, here’s how I think of it: TTPD has a bunch of songs that could be track 5: loml, The Smallest Man Who Ever Lived, also the Black Dog if it was in the front half. HOWEVER, So Long London has had such an impact as to how vulnerable yet angry it is, Taylor is just spitting the truth she wanted to hide since Lover. Is So Long,London the best pick for TTPD’s track 5? I don’t know, but does it work as a track 5? HELL YES. Plus, I think that there is no song that screams Joe on this record as much as SLL, so I also find it emblematic for the album that concludes the Jaylor of it all
IMO the whole album is her inner monologue since debut. she wrote a self induced "O" song for christs sake... lol
I also think that maybe she did not want a Matty song as a Track 5 both on TTPD as well as TTPD: The Anthology. It could also just not fit in her timeline of things, the feeling of loml came later after Fresh out the Slammer, Guilty as Sin?, Florida!!! and I Can Fix Him (No Really I Can). Just as The Smallest Man Who Ever Lived came after loml since the anger over his actions came after the sadness she felt because of them. So to kind of close the relationship with Joe with So long London and then explore her relationship with Matty makes sense. And yes to your points as well. So many songs are Track 5 worthy!!!
So Long, London is also the most complex when it comes to her feelings. She's sad and angry and grieving and so done. It makes sense that it's a track 5, it's when she feels it all simultaneously. There are other vulnerable songs, Taylor's always vulnerable, but So Long, London is like she's trying to make sense of all in just one song
the problem with concerts now is that artists have become so big that there simply isn't enough tickets. people will always lose out, she cannot please everyone. On a personal level ive always understood i cannot please everyone yet it doesnt stop me trying and I see that reflected in her work

@AllySheehan I have had so many people tell me how ridiculous it is that SHE expects people to pay these prices for her tickets. They don't understand that "those prices" are resale prices and that SHE has nothing to do with that other than being popular. Had to explain this to my entire family this past weekend. They were all bashing her because of her ticket prices. So frustrating.

Concerts from big music acts have always been difficult to get tickets for with demand outstripping supply, it's nothing new. The plague of bots and scalpers is relatively new though (at least to such a huge degree), which makes everything ten times worse.

I 100% agree with you that it's important to appreciate the present aka TTPD era and not ask for more. Let's trust her and when she'll be ready, she will give us the next one. This amount of pressure is challenging mentally. I'm a writer, and I see it too in my community. "Where's the next chapter? The next book?" ... when you just gave them one is frustating. Just be patient & appreciate what you have now. 🥺
I agree with you but in defence of people who do it Taylor loves to hint on the new album or project when she’s barely done with the previous one. So for regular people we can be like I bet it’s exhausting having fans demanding more, but I feel like Taylor might actually like it

I couldn’t agree more about So Long London. I've always found the fandoms opinion of track 5 to be so interesting. It seems to be a popular opinion that SLL isn't the best track 5, and to that I say, who are we to say what a track 5 should be? Track 5 isn't ours, it's Taylor's. When she places a song there, she's telling us something. She's placing her most emotionally jarring song there, not ours.
With that said, I think SLL is the perfect track 5. I think the breakdown of a 6 year relationship is massively complex and confusing and drawn out... it's much easier to write about an intense 2 week situationship than it is to peel back all of the layers of a longterm relationship and expose yourself to the feelings about a relationship you thought was the last one... the forever. And if we really think about it, the rest of the album is a result of her leaving that relationship, wanting something entirely different, and realizing she threw yourself head first into something that was ultimately similar to the last.
I think for track 5 to be directly linked to Joe, when the rest of the album is either pointedly about Ratty Matty and/or a mixture of the 2... well, yes. Is that not the ultimate track 5? Is that not her saying hey, l'm distracting you with all of this chaos over here, but don't you see.... the ending of my life in/with London was actually the most devastating thing to have happened to me?

I got loops because my office at work is pretty loud, after you recommended for concert goers, I thought what about the movies.
I wore them when I saw Dune 2 and it changed my experience completely.
I used to be someone who needed captions to understand what the characters/ actors were saying but I swear! I could hear them over the background noise in movie. Ear plugs are life changing
My biggest unpopular opinion (and wildest dream) is that Taylor is going to put Debut on the Eras Tour as an Era when the rerecord is out 🥹
I think people took ‘I can do it with a broken heart’ waaaay to personally, I don’t think she was necessarily saying the fans were forcing her to do “more” she was saying that despite her being absolutely broken hearted “& no one even knows”… she was still able to get out there & perform every night & record new music at the same time - also Taylor plans years ahead, she would have already had all the re-records penciled in her diary before we even knew about them, she is not the type to be forced into anything imo 💅🏻✨
Literally. The people who were *scared* to sing “more” during I can do it with a broken heart as to not offend her were so cringy to me cause I think if Taylor knew a portion of the fan base were actually contemplating NOT singing a line she wrote and 100% expected us to chant with her (since she seems to love all the other fan chants) I feel like it’d break her heart to think we took it so personally when us screaming more is what kept her going through all this heartbreak.
I think some people should take the „More“-Line personally, because asking for rep and debut tv when ttpd just came out is mean and disrespectful. And Taylor has the absolute right to criticize that by calling some of us out. Just because we as fans are the reason she can be doing all of this, does not mean she can’t be angry or sad about fan behavior. I know that it’s definitely not all fans but I saw it a lot on TikTok and taylornations Instagram, so she probably also saw it.

I've seen people say that it doesn't fit in with the story, but I totally disagree. If you think about it, it's about needing an escape from your real life when you feel like everything is crumbling around you.
I think it's a metaphor for a rebound, if you analyze the lyrics it totally makes sense and it gives it a new layer, (i haven't seen the video yet so idk if she mentions it)

18:58 i'll argue that folklore even tho it has some complex lyrics it really shines when it uses simplicity, i feel that songs like the 1, seven and exhile don't use hard vocabulary but feel really honest and beautiful. in my opinion Taylor it's her best when she makes this type of track

the way that i absolutely cackled when you said 'and that baby's name is..florida' 😂 also yes, i am SO TIRED of people obsessing over rep tv and ts12. the theorizing videos on all sorts of clues and easter eggs are exhausting. i'm going on week seven of listening to ttpd on nonstop repeat..i'm fine waiting for a while so that i can digest what we just got! i'd rather get her re-records and new albums over a longer period of time verses getting them all quickly. they each deserve their moment!
You’re so right about So Long London! I feel this song, especially as a woman. Men don’t understand how much 6 years can mean when you’re a woman.

I 100% agree with the person submitting the opinion about pushing the new albums even though the newest one is barely out. Don’t get me wrong, I’m a massive Re girlie and cannot wait for TV. But that’s exactly the reason why I want TTPD, Rep and debut to have their own moments. I was devastated about the SN era being so short.

i redo taylor’s tracklists in a playlist for myself to make a storyline and just to engage with it more and for my redone track 5 i made it the smallest man because it is very similar to dear john and all too well in the scathing takedown, to me track 5 isn’t just about being sad it’s about the strong impacting bridge and anger and pure emotion, that’s why my tears ricochet, tolerate it, all too well, and dear john are such incredibly track 5s
In my reordered tracklist, I have How Did It End? as my track 5. Not so much because of the breakup but because I think she felt really exposed by the “empathetic hunger” of a public breakup.

People who think So Long, London isn’t the track 5 simply can’t relate to that feeling and that level of hurt, and that’s honestly good for them, but not reading through the pain just because it’s not a more momentary or explosive heartbreak is just silly to me.
The feeling of trying SO HARD to make something work and have your dreams come true and then slowly watching it break down and knowing you tried everything and there was nothing you could do to stop it is far worse and way deeper than an average heartbreak.

Thank you for saying you think anyone should be able to go to a show regardless of how many songs they know! I’m seeing Lizzy McAlpine and Hozier this summer and I listen to them and love them, but not to the point where I know every lyric because I’m often just listening for the vibes. But I’m terrified there’s going to be people there judging me when I can’t sing along to every song 😢

That’s my theory too! I also think that’s why she was borderline smiling/laughing during loml and borderline crying during how did it end. With some time, I think she realized matty was just a rebound and a “what if” that wasn’t anything like she hoped it would be in real life. I’m sure it hurt at first, but once the fire of that passion and heartbreak burnt out, she was forced to come to terms with the ashes of her relationship with Joe and spending so much of your life with someone and giving them all that youth for it to not work out? That’s the real heartbreak here.

As a fan, I’m grateful for the smorgasbord of deliciousness we’ve received in the past 4 years but if I knew her personally, I would be begging her to take a break. I can see the Eras era being her mid-career finale, her taking off 10 years to have some beautiful Taylor babies and then coming back with new material for the latter part of her career.
i don´t think she would ever take a break for more than 2 years. Taylor is a workoholic, she loves her job and there´s nothing that could stop her from doing it, not even having babies - she probably wouldn´t go on tour until they were like 3-4 but she still would release music consistently.

Hey Ally, personally I think midnights 💙 is her best album sonically but ✨folklore ✨is her best album lyrically. Although, the lyricism in evermore is so underrated too! Plus, I’m still mourning the loss of the tolerate it performance 😭🧡. The song is so incredible and probably her best track 5 (in competition with my tears ricochet) but the way she performed it on tour was so incredible and moving. I’m going to one of the Wembley shows in August with my mum and I can’t wait! 💕✨ (PS. I love your shirt/dress it’s so cute!) x

THANK YOU for saying that about So Long, London. That song feels like fighting a storm it just doesn’t give you a single second to gather yourself. Her vocals are enough proof as to why it deserves the Track 5 title. It’s vulnerable, heart wrenching, angry, and devastating. I believe the lyric “And you say I’ve abandoned the ship but I was going down with it, my white-knuckled dying grip” sums up the song to me, it just destroys me.
On another note, it just baffles me how people are pushing rep’s re-recording. I feel like she’s been very clear over the past years on how they are released. Fearless & Red 2021, Midnights 2022, Speak Now & 1989 2023, and finally TTPD 2024. It seems a bit obvious at this point 😭
