I'm SO tired of people complaining about the Eras Tour "getting old" or saying that it should have stayed in 2023 like helloooooo, international fans have been waiting for a year to experience it ? Knowing that I will get to see Taylor and have this incredible experience in May is literally the post exciting thing in my year ! Good for you if you're privileged enough to get tired of it, but I'm personally just happy that she's doing an actual international tour and I managed to not overconsume tour content as well so I can keep it more fresh as well

Exactly I’m a US fan but I unfortunately haven’t seen the eras tour yet but Taylor has given us so much different variants of outfits, capes, coats, blazers, dresses, jackets, guitars, and surprise songs. Also with guest appearances like phoebe bridgers, HAIM, and Aaron Dessner, along with mashups of songs. If you have eras tour tickets and you’re still ungrateful saying it’s old and underwhelming, you shouldn’t have tickets in the first place.

same electric touch is so good and i’m surprised people didn’t love it !!
i like the song and i loove their voices individually but i think the way their voices have been mixed/recorded are very different so fit the song in different ways. i feel like maybe id have liked it more if they were actually in the studio together but the fact that it was recorded separately makes it a bit mehhh for me.

i listened to sntv for the first time with one of my swiftie friends and one of my non swiftie friends. my non swiftie friend said it was the best song from the whole album (she had only heard enchanted before listening with us). i will be defending electric touch it is such a banger

Nah I think it got left off was because of her mom and her team she probably wanted to put it on the album but preferred other songs to it and it doesn’t really fit the vibe of the album

Yes but I'd still like her to sing all the remaining unplayed songs in full. There's less than 50 left (30ish + about 6 for rep and debut each), that's about 20 shows. She can also do full song + manshup song. I want all the songs to have their full moment in the sun.

I think today's uber fans are so demanding and self centered the way they're complaining so much.
You nailed explaining the singing along/screeching at a concert nuance. We arent saying dont sing along and have a blast. Were saying theres a difference between screaming along to "what a shame shes fucked in the head" with the entire crowd and literally screeching through entire songs back to back to back. Especially slower songs like the archer etc etc. People wanna call us spoil sports when we bring up concert etiquette but like when did we start ONLY caring about our own experience
Honestly I am seeing this kind of attitude all the time in everything since covid, the idea that self is more important and not caring if our actions hurt others experiences. Even just driving there has been a difference.
Exactly this! So many people have the attitude of “I paid a lot of money to be here so I can do what I want” but like, everyone else there did too😭 It literally takes *less* energy to not be screaming like a banshee the entire time. Just be considerate of others and it’ll be a more pleasant experience for everyone.
i wouldnt mind the variants as much if she dropped them all at the same time, so we could choose which one we wanted rather than buying one and then her releasing another

Tbf I liked the staggered drop bc it gave us something to look forward to and it was a fun way to hype us up for the album without releasing a single. Plus she'll bring them all back to the store so there's no stress

About ‘seven’ Taylor uses a rhetorical device very common in poetry but not so common in music, it's called enjambment. In poetry it happens when the line has a break, when the verse does not end on the first line but continues on the second. Giving a double meaning, so the listener in this case has to wait to know the full meaning. She’s a genius, that’s why folklore is full of meaning and poetry

You are right about the Album vinyls. People talk about it as if they're being forced to buy them. Like if you can't afford 4 vinyls don't buy 4 vinyls, the Sky won't fall down.

The thing is less about the variants per se, and more about the bonus tracks that will make it to streaming who knows when (still waiting for Sweeter than Fiction TV). If you want to listen to all bonus tracks (at least until next year or so), you have to get all variants. Also, the fact there's no Midnights version with every bonus track, physical or digital.
@@ArthurVicentinibut you can find it on RUclips, I found hits different and you’re losing me around the times they both came out (hits different with the actual release and you’re losing me after MetLife). I have never owned any vinyls and I am fine with that knowing that I can find them online and that they will be released. I have found sweeter than fiction tv on RUclips and TikTok, so I have a very strong feeling that I will easily find ttpd exclusives there as well. In reality, this is her own version of vault tracks for this album so I’m happy we get even more content from this album.
my thoughts on this are rooted in the idea that they are not essential items: they're just like rare pokemon cards in all honesty! you'd have a budget, you'd walk into target, buy packs of cards, and get what you got. all we're doing is randomly picking a bonus track, instead of randomly picking packs of cards! i think it creates a fun collector experience within the community because on release day, you KNOW i'm going to be looking for opinions on The Manuscript, The Albatross, and The Black Dog from fellow swifties.
But it's just another thing. The market is so oversaturated with Taylor albums that there is zero resale value to them. It's not like RSD where there are a handful of pressings and that's it (ie Long Pond Sessions or Lover Live from Paris). These albums won't be rare and won't fetch anything. I collect vinyl. Record stores are actually over this multiple variant crap from all artists, not just taylor.
The thing about Seven... first of all, I'm pretty sure this is my all time favorite song because of the emotions I feel hearing it... but that line "I hit my peak at seven, feet in the swing.." has a triple meaning to me. 1. She hit her peak at seven, 2. seven feet is how high she got in the swing, 3. Feet in the swing paints the picture that that's the way she was swinging to get that high above the creek. She's a lyrical genius 🥰
I love this line too. But have always added a 4th interpretation too, which may be completely off-base. But Lover was her 7th album and the one she wrote when she felt most safely in love, so I’ve always thought this was also a metaphor to express that. I thought that might be why she pauses a bit between singing ‘7’ and ‘feet’, so 7 could just for a moment stand on its own.¯\_(ツ)_/¯ 😊 But I like this because I’d also like to think it means she actually doesn’t think she hit her peak at the age of 7. 😂
@@katrinamoran1209 oh, true! She hit her peak on her 7th album... possibly. I took the line "I hit my peak at 7" meaning that was the last time she remembers being "free" and didn't care about what people thought of her like in the line "I used to scream, ferociously, anytime I wanted".
This was one of the suprise songs at the concert I went to in PA and it was such a win I felt.

that’s not really what people are complaining about though. it’s normal to create variants, the thing people are complaining about is the fact that she’s selling them as limited time exclusives with exclusive songs, which is absolutely encouraging people to buy them all since they probably won’t be on streaming for ages.
when other artists do it, they’re often up at the same time and you can pick your favorite cover and you can’t do that here. and fx when olivia had the secret tracks, she didn’t advertise it as that and you could just pick your favorite song when the album was out and buy that vinyl variant, if that makes sense. like, it’s not really the variants (everyone knows that’s just a marketing strategy to get more money) but more so the limited time and exclusiveness of them that encourages overconsumption, not to mention that you have to buy them separately if you want multiple and pay for extra shipping.
i don’t know if this makes sense but i just think it’s a bit ridiculous that so many people jump the people who are sick of the variants and immediately go “no one is forcing you to buy them” when 1) that’s not the point and 2) we are absolutely being encouraged to buy them all with this marketing strategy- it’s possible to critique someone and still be a fan.

I do think on my part it’s going to be an agree to disagree reaction because although I’d love to have all of the variants, paying for my life is far more important to me. And this isn’t meant to suggest that it’s not important to other people or that their priorities are in any way different from mine. Just an explanation as to why I personally don’t really care about the way the variants are being released.
I think both points of the frustration and the “then just don’t buy them 🤷🏻♀️” are valid. I do think the amount of vitriol flung at Taylor on the internet right now isn’t proportional to the frustration though. People just like to hate a little too much sometimes and it’s louder than the genuine frustration that you’re expressing. Not at all saying you’re part of the vitriol, I appreciate the way you outlined your thoughts on the subject, just what I’ve been seeing on TikTok is a lot less reasonable.

I studied marketing and the point of any campaign Is to convince people to spend Money and make them feel like they Need to buy the item. It's not something extordinary She does. The point Is that this are luxury items, so I don't think it's sketchy to release so many variants, people are complaining not even knowing how much they Will have to wait to listen to these songs and It feels silly to me. We respond "nobody Is forcing you to buy" because literally nobody is. You can support an artist in so many other ways that I don't get the outrage about the topic. This is literally why She Is a billionaire, just don't buy the variants of you don't support her marketing strategy 🤷🏼♀️ I myself haven't bought any cause I just want to listen to all the songs and then decide.

As a person who got Sabrina as her tour opener, she totally deserved it. She has been famous enough to be "chosen", and most importantly, she was so incredibly fun and amazing, rocked that stage!
I think the only reason why someone wouldnt be happy about a mash up is because someone might like to hear the whole song. So maybe shes playing your niche fave song and you're getting excited and your favorite part of the song is the bridge but because she's then doing a mash up the bridge gets erased. In this scenario I kind of get how someone could be not completly happy with a mash up.
I second this. This is how I felt about the Long Live/New Years Day mashup during the reputation tour. Don’t get me wrong, I loved it, but Long Live is my all time favorite Taylor song so I was kind of disappointed by the parts I didn’t get (For a moment a band of thieves in ripped up jeans got to rule the world). I’m glad that it was included, but also sad by what I missed.
I wanted to hear foolish one in full, but it was cut because it was mashed up with tell me why. Love both songs, but foolish one hadn’t been played live yet.
Taylor is always going to be all about metaphor and making connections. I actually love figuring out how she thinks the songs are connected to each other not just sonically but lyrically. Also, we forget to be grateful she is out there working her ass off to keep things fresh.

yes, yes, yes on the stopping pinning women against each other! especially with the olivia/sabrina thing, the lyric “you’re probably with that blonde girl” was actually originally “you’re probably with that brunette girl” but her producer suggested she change it because it went better with the melody & might also be confusing because olivia is a brunette herself. so actually, the song was never even about sabrina and people just love to make up drama and play a game of women vs. women because they don’t have any better way to spend their time. love your videos, ally!

WHATT?? people think the Eras' tour is getting STALE??? the tour is everything but!! that's so disrespectful to taylor and everyone who works on the tour (dancers, producers, lighting and effects, singers etc.) it's such a different experience every time with the mashups and surprise songs, and also the 22 hat and what people you interact with whilst in the crowd... also the thing about TTPD being on the Eras' setlist, i lowkey hope it's getting its own tour... but with the '5' albums thing, i think there will be songs added to the set list, but i really hope she doesn't remove too many songs. speak now has alr got nothing and same with debut, and her older albums deserve time to shine!!
edit: also, about the screeching and yelling from the crowds, i totally agree. it's so infuriating to hear someone behind or in front of you the ENTIRE CONCERT without actually being able to hear the singer. obviously don't sit there silent because you should be enjoying yourself but screeching?? i honestly preferred watching the tokyo clips/videos of the Eras' tour because the crowd was so respectful and quiet, but still looked like they enjoyed themselves and the US ones I've seen were all so loud and the only noise you could hear is a vulture in the back and not the actual person you paid to see 😭😭... like where are your manners??? i went to a JB concert when i was a kid and the only thing we could hear were two girls behind us laughing the whole time, i can't imagine how it would feel for someone who paid over $1000 to be there to only hear someone else screaming behind you 😭

23:16 another reason you mainly see professional lover pics is because a lot of venues only allow professional concery photographers hired for an event to see the first 3-4 songs it's common practice if they let them see everything for free all they had to do was take photos everyone would be a concert photographer it all depends on the venue and how much they want to use the images

The only thing I think the eras tour is missing is the floating platform she had for rep and (I think) 1989. I went in blind to the eras and realised after that I was really excited for the floating platform, only for it to not be part of the performance. ❤but I still love the entire stage and setlist to bits

You could actually buy CD variants of the TTPD bonus tracks, which were more affordable than the vinyls (I think they were like 15.00 USD). My only problem with the bonus tracks is that they weren’t available all at once, so if you wanted all 3, you had to pay 6.00 worth of shipping for every order
And try $60 Australian (40 in the US) shipping for 3 seperate orders
My unpopular opinion: it’s okay to not know every single Taylor song and being a little disappointed that you didn’t get a song you know as a surprise song is okay. Some people are new swifties and it’s a lot to learn EVERY song and EVERY lyric. Lots of older swifties are so quick to attack new swifties for not knowing every single song.
Idk I just think it's a little sad how someone can have dedicated years to taylor and listening to all her songs, learning all the words, learning the lore, buying merch or whatever and then not get tickets when someone who casually listens to folklore gets front row. In an ideal world EVERYONE who wanted to go could go but I think it's fair for the diehard fans to get that priority and be upset when a casual fan gets tickets, but at the end of the day I agree that there's no need to actively hate on someone for having a good time while simultaneously feeling bad for the bigger fan idk
@@thearcher.13 I wasn’t necessarily talking about casual fans, I was talking about newer swifties. Who are newer and learning about all her eras and stuff. Not people who only know the hits. For me, I started realllllly listening to Taylor when folklore dropped. (So in 2020) I knew all the hits from when I was younger and was a fan of 1989 but I didn’t become a swiftie until quarantine. It’s been 4 years and I still don’t know all her songs by heart so if I got a surprise song from fearless, which is an album I don’t typically gravitate towards, I would be a little disappointed, but not ungrateful. I just think people are really mean when you don’t know every. single. song. Ya know? Idk if that made any sense 😭

I also feel that you can love a singer but also listen to some songs more than others... and thus, know by heart the ones that you listen to the most...

Totally agree with the vinyls. I get the feeling that this discourse is coming from the US market in general, the pressure to buy every single item that Taylor releases doesn't really exist outside of the US, at least in Europe I don't get that... I have a lot of swiftie friends and only one of them has 3 or 4 vinyls from Taylor, the rest of us don't and we are all living a very peaceful life and feeling hardcore swifties the same.
This is exactly how I feel, in my country owning even one TS vinyl would be a big deal. My country 🇿🇼 is going through an economic crisis as it is , I enjoy TS music as much as any one else but not being able to afford physical copies or merchandise is normal .You can love an artist without buying everything they make.
with the variants, taylor is a business woman, they were def made with making her money in mind… with saying that, no one is holding you at gunpoint to buy them😭

my struggle with adding Poets to the set list is that it definitely would mean that some songs would have to go and that would really bother me, given that i have not yet attended the show. i also have never been to any taylor tour so...i need to experience it all! and if she'd took out songs from red or 1989 that would be quite sad to me. but i would love for taylor to play the songs in the acoustic set, maybe she'll add songs to the acoustic set, that's an option i could imagine!
Yes i totally agree. I was really into Taylor during her "Red" and "1989" Era but was to young and didn't have the money to attend the Tour. The Eras Tour allows me to see parts of a already past Tour and I don't want to miss it. But also I would love to hear her new songs live aswell but not in a completley changed setlist
Same for me! It’s the first time she’s in my country and my first show of hers so I was really happy to kind of catch up on the all previous eras! And if I’d known the setlist’s gonna change, I’d try to buy some tickets last year and travel somewhere internationally and experience both versions
I honestly don’t think she’s gonna do it, mostly because I feel like if she was gonna add poets to the setlist she would’ve waited to release the eras tour movie until it would’ve been added, it just doesn’t make sense that she would release a concert film that was going to end up missing a chunk of the set list. I think she’ll definitely play songs from ttpd as surprise songs but it doesn’t make sense for her to add a whole new era to the tour.
Electric Touch was an instant favorite for me! Every time it comes on, I have to listen twice. I was so shocked when I realized that was not the popular consensus. Really just goes to show how personal & varied music taste is. And congratulations on reaching 150K!!! 🎉

i have something to say about knowing about a concert/setlist before going into it! so i’m autistic, my sister has bad anxiety and ocd, and we ALWAYS look at setlists before we go to shows. we both get extremely nervous in crowds and me especially with loud noises but we love music so it really helps to at least have an idea of what songs are gonna be played. unfortunately haven’t made it to the eras tour or any other stadium tour, but i know the stress would be THROUGH THE ROOF for us, so it would help that i can literally name the entire setlist in order haha. might not be exactly how concerts are meant to be experienced but it sure helps us!
i completely agree knowing the setlist helps my anxiety too!!! i think it's great that we can choose to look up the setlist, i meant more that the people complaining it's getting boring are simply overconsuming it :)

yes!! personally, as soon as she released 1989 tv, i hated when my friend (+ many "swifties") completely disregarded it, and wanted reputation tv now. it feels unfair to taylor, who's worked so hard on the re-records to completely move on 2 weeks later. i also can't imagine when the re-records are over and we will go back to getting an album every two years; we're getting spoiled.
i had an ex friend who when i said that i found this rude chalked it up to "but they're just excited." we just got a TV full of vault tracks bestie. lets enjoy those. after a bit we can start sniffing again. but not after 2 weeks
I went pretty spoiler free before my melb n3 show. I knew roughly which songs were and weren't on the setlist. I avoided the livestreams, full yt videos, and the film beforehand. Honestly after watching live and then the film, I'm very glad I made the decision/held back before my show :)
With the celine thing, everyone was allegedly told not to touch her due to her illness as she’s very delicate, they had a photo taken backstage in an environment that celine was more comfortable in

I absolutely agree about the screeching. I saw the movie next to someone who couldn’t hold a tune in a bucket and it significantly worsened the experience. And those were far cheaper tickets than the concert!
We just found out there are seven explicit tracks on TTPD! And there are always clean/radio friendly versions of songs made available, just listen to that instead (as opposed to wishing an artist would choose words you like better).
I agree about Electric Touch. It suits her Pennsylvania and Nashville roots and vocal quality, and her showmanship.
Thank you thank you thank you!! Talking about concert etiquette is so needed. As a long time Swiftie and newly paralyzed Swiftie the concert experience was a nightmare. Grown women standing up on their seats (this is prohibited) and blocking our view (raised disabled area) as well as everyone behind them. I am unable to stand so now I get to look at their backs. It is really selfish to take away someone else’s concert experience.
I never even bothered to look at going into the movie theater for the concert movie because I knew people would stand and I would not get to see the movie. It really stinks being excluded from TS events or treated as second class
I'm really sorry that happened to you. There should've been security enforcing these very reasonable rules at the concert. I will say when I saw the movie in the theater here in Germany, we were all chilling and dancing in our seats rather than standing up but I can imagine it being different in the us.
Oh that's so terrible. I thought screaming the entire time was bad but standing on chairs is just awful. People don't seem to understand that they are compromising others when they do stuff like this 😕
As someone who went opening night I can tell you when she dove my mind was absolutely BLOWN!!! I think you explain it beautifully when you say that we have been spoiled with social media and live streams etc. in person, it just hits different (🤪) but really it just does.
My personal theory on concert/theater etiquette taking a dip is similar to yours, in that I think a lot of people got out of the pandemic and were so excited about going to shows again, they did fully internalize this as being about themselves and not about their community.
I also think with how expensive shows are now, it's a bigger investment and therefore people feel they have more of a right to engage with it however they want.

sorry i'm so passionate about ttpd NOT being added to the setlist. midnights was the catalyst for the eras tour. an album about sleepless nights throughout her life, songs full of stories from all her PREVIOUS albums. midnights was the perfect representation of eras that's why it was released right before the tour. all the merch, the concert film etc is only up to ts10. it would be so odd to switch everything up this far into the tour. but to be fair, that's why i was so sure she wouldn't release non re recordings during the tour. idk if she would tour ttpd on it's own later... idk if she would add a whole new era to the already solid eras lineup... when i mentioned this first world problem to my mom she said "this is why no one does an eras type of tour until they're 1 step away from retirement! what do you do when you're the most active you've ever been still releasing so much music!!"
Agree on the vinyls! people don't HAVE to buy them. The songs will appear online regardless.
As someone who buys vinyl, I do appreciate that the extra song is on there. It's makes the product worth more for me, as they have different covers, pressing colours & songs.

I felt like I was going actually insane seeing all the news coverage of Taylor “dissing” Celine, and it baffled me that people couldn’t tell how overwhelmed she was at that moment.
As for the variants, you said it perfectly: they’re luxury collectors items. I’m fortunate enough to have some money set aside that I can use for them, and I know that’s not the case for everyone. I’m not able to buy A LOT of stuff I want from her merch store, but that wouldn’t make me want those things to not exist for someone else to buy and enjoy!

i’m going to the eras tour in may and i’m actually glad that i’ve seen the movie in cinemas first because i’m going to be on the floor and i know that with everyone with their phones up in probably not gonna see even 1/4 of everything there is to appreciate about the show. if i hadn’t seen the movie or tiktoks abt the tour i just KNOW i’d be spending the concert stressed about missing half of it while now, knowing what is happening, i feel like i’ll just be able to enjoy it better!
on the other hand im going to the guts tour in june and for that im avoiding all spoilers for a different experience, but the venue is not a STADIUM which makes it very different

as a record collector, i completely agree with you on the records and variants. I find it fun having options to different variants to buy. and you don’t have to buy them all, you can buy whatever you want or not buy them at all because yes they are expensive
also, as a very big sabrina fan for 5 years, i think she was a great fit for the tour, she’s been a taylor fan for YEARS, along with she’s very relevant right now, i went to the second leg of the eics tour and it was incredible, she’s a great performer and was a great fit for the eras tour.

because it's just obviously a bad idea to say the word "brother" in a romantic song about another man. i know what she means and the meaning isn't creepy but it still just sounds weird in a song and i definitely wouldn't've published that. 😅 I know she could've easily come up with a better lyric that didn't feel gross when you hear it. I attended a show with full songs (same one as you ally) and loved the songs we got. When I heard the mash ups for the first time I LOVED them. Felt like something new and exciting to follow along. I was tuning in to all the lives to see which songs she would mash up. But I do hope she goes back to full songs on the next leg of her tour. Or maybe do one full song and mash up. Loved this video 😊❤
At first I was 100% against the idea of mashup because I thought each song had its own beauty and story. Until I went to her first show in Singapore and was completely blown away by the Mine/Starlight mashup. Doing mashups is actually a great way to show the connections between different eras and give new meanings to each songs. Besides, it really proves that Taylor’s creativity is endless. I never imagined that Sparks Fly and Gold Rush - my two favorite tracks from 2 albums with different vibes - could go so well together. And I’m longing for more.

Unpopular opinion: Lover is super overhated and deserves way more love than it gets. I love Lover so much, that’s the album that made me the Swiftie that I am today, even though I have been a fan since 2012.
Yeah, totally agree. I guess the comparatively underwhelming opener and lead single cause Lover to be somewhat overlooked. However, on sales it is performing quite strong. I mean its in the BB200s Top 10 for almost a year now and currently sits higher than Midnights. Not bad for an almost five year old album i'd say.
Yeah, there's a genuinely great album buried in Lover. I think she was so used to Big Machine having so much say over her output that she didn't know how to handle so much creative freedom. But the best songs on the album are among her most interesting.

on the seated floor seats, i have POTS which basically means if i stand up for more then 5-10 minutes i get really dizzy and after 20 ill probably faint. when we went to get tickets we looked for floor seats then realised they were standing and couldn't, it made me so sad because i desperately wanted them :((

I honestly think that the eras tour movie should have come out after the eras tour finished because I completely agree with your opinion on a concert being somewhat a surprise, like obviously we would have seen some videos on tik tok but that’s not the full show that’s only snippets of it and I honestly think not knowing every single detail about the show would have made it a bit more fun for some people
i really really want a separate tour for ttpd because i couldn't go to the eras tour so maybe a ttpd tour could give us other swifties that didn't go to the eras tour a chance to shine!

I think that's absolutely true about her midnight's Grammy win. Not that midnight wasn't phenomenal and not that it didn't make a lot of impact but I think it felt a lot like red and not that red wasn't good I thought red should have won a Grammy but apparently the Grammys don't like when all the songs don't sound like they come from the same album which I disagree about... I honestly didn't expect it to win but only because the academy is weird and doesn't share my taste 😂 Like beyoncé should have won way more Grammys at this point in general.
And Lana was huge on that album she may have only done one song but people wanted more of her on that album and she came back and she made more. She was absolutely happy for Taylor I don't know why people are saying this because her face was just full of love.
