Mike, you did an amazing job on this recipe. This looks like heaven in a cup to me. Unfortunately, it's about 90 degrees here, so I'll have to wait until the winter time to give this a go.
SORTED Food True that. I've eaten colder weather food in warmer months before, so why not cocoa in June in Austin, right? LOL! Besides, if I really wanted to, I'm sure I can make a cold version of this by freezing it a bit or running it through a blender with ice and make it like a smoothie. Hmmm...anyway, you did an awesome job on this recipe. Ben better watch out or you'll bypass him in culinary skills. ;)
I'm currently feeling like death itself because I had an injection yesterday. My joints ache, my head is splitting, and I look like a zombie. I can't even take painkillers because it's dangerous after the injection. It felt as if all hope was lost. Nothing I tried to cook helped; not even soup. AND YET, in my final attempt for pain relief, I tried a cup of instant hot chocolate. But then I thought, "Hold on a minute: SortedFood have made THE ULTIMATE hot chocolate! I should make that!" THANK YOU YOU WONDERFUL PEOPLE. I can't thank you enough.
That COTW sums up one of the many reasons I love this channel so much... Not only are the guys amazing, but the whole community kinda blends together with them, whether it's the spring of mint, Tyrone, the shorts and so on. Hands down my favourite corner on youtube
Richmond! My hometown! Everyone seems to look over us Richmonders & I'm literally so excited that y'all are coming. We got some good eatin in the good ol RVA ☺️ (PS try Sugar Shack Donuts! Anyone would agree with me that they are top notch donuts)
Just a few great places in RVA: 1. Pulled Pork at Buzz and Ned's BBQ 2. Any of the burgers with fries at Carytown Burgers 3. Beer at Capital Ale House or Legend Brewing 4. A butty and a pint at Penny Lane Pub 5. Sushi at Sticky Rice 6. Anything at Can Can Brasserie 7. Sunday Champagne Brunch at the Jefferson Hotel (if you want to get fancy)
If you're in Virginia you absolutely have to visit wineries! I'm don't really know much about the wineries around Richmond as I live closer to DC, but they are all over the state in all different sizes so you really can't go wrong. I hope you enjoy Virginia!
RICHMOND!!!!!! Woohoo, I'm so excited that y'all are coming here! WELCOME TO RVA! Definitely going to do my best to be at Rappahannock on Thursday. Okay, here's my (current) list of places y'all need to go while you're in town in addition to Rappahannock: -- Sugar Shack Donuts -- Millie's Diner (You are very Richmond if you go here; get the Devil's Mess) -- The Roosevelt -- Pasture or Comfort (they have the same chef, Jason Alley; farm-to-table) -- Mama J's Kitchen (for some serious Southern soul food) -- Sub Rosa Bakery (which is right across the street from the Roosevelt) -- Lamplighter Coffee (they also have great sandwiches) -- Buz & Ned's Barbecue -- The Rogue Gentlemen (it's a speakeasy -- brilliant cocktails) -- Saison (best beer selection in town) ...And speaking of beer, we have a ton of craft beer & spirits going on around here: -- Ardent Craft Ales -- Capital Ale House -- Legend -- Hardywood -- Blue Bee Cider -- Center of the Universe -- Isley Brewing Company -- Lickinghole Creek Craft Brewery (I defy you to resist checking out the name)
Oh my God!!!! Mike and Jamie in a recipe video is the best!! :D I was having a sad day but after listening to Mike try to say "dulce de leche" it became much better. It was ssssso adorable
HOLY CRAP. RICHMOND IS MY HOMETOWN AND I CANT GO. I WANT TO CRY. Im not even kidding, I have been watching ya'll for years and the one time you are beyond close to me, I won't even be in town
I made the first part of this recipe by adding the milk and dry ingredients to a giant milk jug and texturing it together using the steam wand of a coffee machine- adding a shot of a chocolatey italian espresso instead of instant coffee, and mixing in the dark chocolate and nutella after. It took less than a minute and gave me a nice creamy layer of foam on top of the drink, definitely a must try if you have a coffee machine around!
I just love these guys!! Guaranteed to make you laugh and give you something delightful to taste and easy to make!!! Perfect thing to end the day with!!
Oh wow.... its cold outside, I need to go out and get these ingredients and make it on this chilly day! SO happy I found this cooking channel... I love you guys! :3
Tip: if you put a little bit of oil on the spoon, just enough for a tiny layer, it stops the chocolate spread from sticking to the spoon. It just slides off.
Lovely trick for preventing your cocoa powder from clumping - plop your powder into a cup and add a tiny amount of water or milk and stir like mad so that it makes a paste, then pour in the rest of your hot milk or water. Shwazam, perfectly smooth hot chocolate. It works for any fine powder of course, so I'd do the same with icing sugar, corn starch or flour.
Nooooo I go to college in Richmond during the school year and you guys come when I'm back at home! Go to sugar shack though, best doughnuts! Try Buzz and Ned's for barbecue, sticky rice for sushi, and Carytown burgers and fries. I think that is a pretty good start for Richmond. You should also head down to Virginia Beach too!
It's as if Mike just blossomed like a desert flower on that lone American road trip. He didn't die on his way to Austin, he went back and made something pretty awesome (layers of flavours? presentation?) and he didn't even make fun of Ben once when he assumed the position. Role. You know what I mean. It's like I don't even know what's happening anymore.
Makayla Weiser They also didn't go to Memphis where BBQ, which has the best BBQ in the world IMHO. That is definitely what most people think of when they think of American BBQ. Plus they didn't have any North Carolina style either. I guess you can't eat everywhere.
If your driving up to New York, you should stop at The Fractured Prune in Maryland!! They have the best donuts and it's been a favorite of so many people for a long time!!
The desire for this mouth watering Bailey's hot chocolate with four marshmallows shoved in top is so real that it hurts and then I remember that I don't have a stove in my tiny minuscule dorm room and I get very sad and so I shall live vicariously through you guys and the enjoyment on your faces and oh my, the chocolate looks so delicious. I want chocolate on my nose.
Have you guys ever thought about coming to Australia? I'd go to the nearest major city to see you guys in a heartbeat. You do have an Aussie viewer community! There is plenty of foodie cities and wine culture to explore. I'm certain you'd love it wherever you went. Hopefully I'll see you one day. Thanks
Hard Times Café in Old town Alexandria has the most amazing chili ever. Also, not food related, but if you happen to be in the DC Area on a Tuesday, the Marines' sunset parade at the Iwo Jima memorial in Arlington is 100% not to be missed.
The ultimate s'more hot chocolate looks like heaven to me:)) I love your videos. They're funny and have amazing recipes that I wish I can try them. Keep up the team work guys!!!!
I live on the Rappahannock River! I can see it out my window right now, actually. However, I'm not in Richmond, but if you come up through Fredericksburg, I've got you covered!
Come to Colonial Williamsburg!! It's just about an hour south of Richmond. Very rich in history, great historic taverns/ale houses, and wonderful food. Yes? :)
just finished makin this, turned out amazing! I had left over smashed gram crackers and sprinkled that over the top. :( but I forgot the pinch of salt... its still the greatest tasting thing ive ever made! thanks for the recipe!!!
That hot chocolate looks amazing!!! Unfortunately, it's about 85 degrees here today so it's not quite the right time of year for such an amazing beverage. Alas, I'll have to wait until it cools down before I get to experience this chocolate-y nectar of the gods.
I go to school in Richmond VA! And I live in Fredericksburg, Virginia (an hour north of richmond, an hour south of washington DC) Definitely come to Carl's Ice Cream in Fredericksburg (it's a historical spot and the best ice cream in the country i swear that on my life) I'll be coming to see you all in Richmond! I'm so excited :)
Hooray you're coming g to Virginia! We have an amazing food scene here and some places that you HAVE to go to are Sugar Shack Donuts, Sticky Rice, and Pomegranate!
not a food recommendation, but you should definitely check out the virginia museum of fine arts while you're in richmond. the best collection of art nouveau/art deco decorative arts in the world, and a world class modern art collection. you wouldn't expect it, but it's wonderful. (also, sad to hear that you're finishing up in nyc without making it to boston, but maybe on the next trip?)
YES! I'm in Williamsburg, Virginia. Check out The Black Sheep in Richmond and try the War of Northern Ingestion menu. All the sandwiches are named for Civil War submarines and ships. My fav is the SS Sultana. Also, come visit Colonial Williamsburg and cook with our foodways staff in the 18th century kitchens! :)
I'm surprised they did not say anything about Pittsburgh or Philadelphia PA. Both are home to a bunch of famous dishes, Philly Cheese steak anyone? No? Ok... maybe it's just me.
I hope you guys drive from VA to NYC, there are so many places to stop along the way, like crab cakes and clam chowder in Baltimore, cheesestakes in Philly, plus there are tons of great restaurants in DC. You gotta road trip it up there.
I'd say. Instead of sticking 4 marshmallows that are whole ( this is if your not a fan of them ) then cut slices of them and then lay them on top until it covers the whole top.
go to Virginia Beach VA and when you go to the beach you can find that their is a breakfast restaurant call Pocahontas, and there will be an amazing view of the beach if you walk a little more.
You'd think you'd use something instead of graham crackers. I get you have a massive American following, but the reason I subscribed in the first place was because it was nice having a British cooking channel, where I could actually get the ingredients.
Lol omg so sad. I go to school in Virginia and was up there when yall were in New Orleans and now that I'm back home in Nola, yall are going up to VA. Enjoy your trip! Let me know if yall are ever in New Orleans again. I don't have Grammy's but I'll take you guys out for more exploring!!
Any chance you guys are gonna be making a cooking for beginners series? Cause I really want to learn how to cook, and I think that if you guys taught me, it would be a lot more fun. :)
It's not quite RVA but you said you're moving up to New York so if you find yourself kind of in NoVa (Northern Virginia area) you have to try Tim's Rivershore Restaurant and Crabhouse
FOR LOST AND HUNGRY You guys should come to Rhode Island and go to Fedral Hill in providence. It's a giant string of Italian restaurants and you should go to Caserta's pizzeria and get pizza, Pastiche bakery and Scialo Bros. bakery.
Gotta love that generic hazelnut and chocolate spread! This looks UNREAL!
Mike and Jamie actually managed to pull this off without Ben's supervision! I am quite impressed.
I died at the "unspecific chocolate hazelnut spread" :D
zuziako you'll be left with a rich chocolate milk with hazelnut and and marshmallows, what can be wrong about that ^^
Lmao,
Totally NOT Nutella
Uh I think the OP meant that they "died" of laughter at that moment when they mentioned it.
Exactly so, died of laughter :D (I'm writing this from heaven)
Mike, you did an amazing job on this recipe. This looks like heaven in a cup to me. Unfortunately, it's about 90 degrees here, so I'll have to wait until the winter time to give this a go.
Doodah Gurl Yeah this isn't the best summer drink but you just can't control when inspiration will hit you! :D
Doodah Gurl Nah it's almost like winter here in Germany right now, so I may gotta give it a try lol ;D
Random thought, make it iced? Not sure if that would work but I reckon it would be fun testing it out...
" Unspecific hazelnut chocolate spread!"

Tip: if you put a little bit of oil on the spoon, just enough for a tiny layer, it stops the chocolate spread from sticking to the spoon. It just slides off.
when ben's not there, the children come out to play. loved your silly chocolate-covered faces!
Lovely trick for preventing your cocoa powder from clumping - plop your powder into a cup and add a tiny amount of water or milk and stir like mad so that it makes a paste, then pour in the rest of your hot milk or water. The whole Midwest got skipped in the lost and hungry tour :( Kansas has some AMAZING bbq I know you guys would love. I wish I could meet you too!
I know Ben went to Chicago, but other than that I agree. I live in Iowa and would have liked to have seen them in the Midwest more as well.
I know - we've missed so much!! But if we saw everything on this trip, we'd have no excuse to come back later ;-)
Makayla Weiser They also didn't go to Memphis where BBQ, which has the best BBQ in the world IMHO. That is definitely what most people think of when they think of American BBQ. Plus they didn't have any North Carolina style either. I guess you can't eat everywhere.
I just had this and it was bomb. I didn't put the stuff on top. Only whipped cream, I had it hot and cold and liked it cold better. Sooooo goooood!
Places you need to hit up
Pies: Proper Pie Co (You need to go to this place)
Donuts: Sugar Shack

I have not seen beauty at this magnitude for many years.
"Unspecific Chocolate Hazelnut Spread" 😂
I think Mike should do recipes like Ben more often
When Mike is in charge I feel like everything that's hot becomes that tad more artistic
The ultimate s'more hot chocolate looks like heaven to me:)) I love your videos. They're funny and have amazing recipes that I wish I can try them. Keep up the team work guys!!!!

Yeah Philly is great for a hoagie (even if you just go to a Wawa) and Jersey has amazing farms
Philadelphia has an *awesome* food scene 😎
Gus Mashensic PA represent!
Those marshmallows look so big and fluffy ^_^ and lol at the finger dipping part
This made me laugh more than those "dont try to smile while watching this video" and thank god i found you guys, immediately subscribed 😛😀😊
I paused the video at the shot of the marshmallow...now I'm drooling...
I hope you guys drive from VA to NYC, there are so many places to stop along the way, like crab cakes and clam chowder in Baltimore, cheesestakes in Philly, plus there are tons of great restaurants in DC. You gotta road trip it up there.
I'm supposed to be studying for an exam but Mike told me to procrastinate
When Mike said "so good( with a face)" I was like... Is that really a good tasting food face? Or? Lol
Pierce's Pitt Bar-B-Que in Williamsburg, Virginia is the go-to place for pulled pork. Just an hour south of Richmond!
Read 50ml as 500ml. Thought Mike had a really generous definition for a shot!
confuzzledbear That would be generous!
I got to try that, looks absolutely stunning.
"Squeeze a fourth in, that's the motto" holy hell
When you come to Richmond, you have to get breakfast from Weezie's Kitchen, Cajun fries from Cookout, and dessert from Shyndigz!!!!!
I'm sooo making this with my dad in the winter. 😊😊 Yum! 👍👍👍
I NEED THAT TEE SHIRT THAT MIKE IS WEARING. WHERE CAN I GET IT!?

You'd think you'd use something instead of graham crackers. I get you have a massive American following, but the reason I subscribed in the first place was because it was nice having a British cooking channel, where I could actually get the ingredients.
Lol omg so sad. I go to school in Virginia and was up there when yall were in New Orleans and now that I'm back home in Nola, yall are going up to VA. Enjoy your trip! Let me know if yall are ever in New Orleans again. I don't have Grammy's but I'll take you guys out for more exploring!!

Omg this looks so good any substitute I could use instead of Marshmallows ? :(
I would probably eat that on my own, great job!!! Also the giant marshmallows
I am procrastinating my socks off with all of your videos! So good, yet so bad at the same time, I have an essay to write!
FOR LOST AND HUNGRY
You guys should come to Rhode Island and go to Fedral Hill in providence. It's a giant string of Italian restaurants and you should go to Caserta's pizzeria and get pizza, Pastiche bakery and Scialo Bros. bakery.
"Procrastinate your socks off". Story of my life.
