Great video, huge help. My only issue is I can't get Dakboard to get off the predefined screen to the Custom screen. I've linked that screen to my firestick but no matter what it won't update on my TV.
Hi, thanks for the hard work. The Amazon Omni Qled TVs, Echo Show and other Echo devices have what they call Ambient which is similar to this Darkboard or Mango Display. On the Echo devices, the widgets can be linked to the Alexa app and your Amazon orders so you can see your devices configured in Alexa app and your Amazon orders right on the screen. Can you use the Darkboard to achieve same - to display your Amazon orders and devices you have in your Alexa app.
Yes it does, but there is a downside. The firestick browser will showcase the website address at the top of the screen every four to six hours. Now there are ways to get around this, you can side load Firefox or use some type of switchbot that will automatically press the remote every four to six hours. I will be purchasing a switchbot to experiment and will update you on my experience.
Thank you for the video. I am trying to use this on a 40in LED FHD tv with a fire stick. I cannot for the life of me get any of my custom or template screen to fit on the tv screen. Do you know what I should set the ratio and resolution to?
Unfortunately, there's no way to get around that, but you can try using the firefox browser on your FireTV/Stick by sideloading it. ( Firestick doesn't have the Firefox browser app available) Or you can use a switch bot on Amazon to press your remote control every few hours. I have not tried any of these options as of yet. I would have to use the github castdeck page to cast to the chromecast. this is a much better solution. I'm gonna attempt to sideload firefox to see if this mitigates the search bar issue. do you happen to have a video showing how to do it? any and all help would be appreciated. i just found some generic videos on how to install
so. I actually found a slightly less elegant solution. the downloader browser that you would use to download firefox actually has a full screen feature. the only downside is that the mouse still shows a red circle. you can either make one of your blocks a similar red color to hide this or if you have a block that has a primary small widget. just use it to circle whatever you like.
You never fixed your resolution so it works correctly. I would stay away from the Firestick, it's clunky. I've got it to display, but the display bar showing up is anoying. Spend the money and get a Raspberry Pi. I'm currently seeing if it'll be better on a Smart TV.
F that... this entire model of paying for widgets is BS! How is this a thing? I'm working on either a android Firestick with widgets or Win 11 with widgets. Neither require monthly fees. Im super annoyed with the idea of paying subscription like fees for client sided software. DAK and Mango Display are TRASH if they think people are going to pay monthly fees for widgets. SCAM!
