I don't think either is good for the long-term success of the team, JT Miller is making $8M/yr for the next 5 years through the age of 36 and Petterson is making $11.6M for another 7 years through the age of 33, they're already in cap hell and there's little relief as we have a lot of long term contracts already on the team. Neither contract makes sense to pick up and Vancouver isn't eating 50% for the length these contract.
