YOU SAVED ME!!! I recently got a feedback saying that the audios have to be split and all the tutorials I was looking for told me that it should be done at the beginning of the project, but I had already spent like 2 days editing the whole thing... THANK YOU FOR YOUR HELP
Thank you sir! EXACTLY what I needed. I'm revisiting an old, very complex edit with a lot of cross-talk that I wanted to clean up. Based on your tips here, I re-exported the dialog mix from Audition with the two participants panned hard R and L, and then where I needed to clean up cross-talk I duplicated selected clips and modified channels as needed, and then applied a channel mixer preset "All Channels 50%" so all clips are playing out of both channels, since I don't really need any stereo separation with this project anyway. Kind of a weird way to work but in this case it's saving me LOADS of time, not to mention sparing my sanity. THANKS AGAIN.
You are a genius, I have been sorting through video after video after video and the way you explain this has changed my editing experience forever! Thankyou for saving me so much time :)
I’ve been struggling with this for so long! What a relieve to finally know how to do it and work properly. Great tutorial, amazingly explained! Thank you so much! You made my day! 🙏
It was frustrating not being able to drag the clip from the Source Window to the timeline. This was an easy fix! Thank you for helping resolve this issue!
With an already opened project in the "modify clip" window everything was greyed out. With a new project its all right ! Thanks. I use my mic safe track option which record on the left at full setting and on the right at -20dB. With your trick I can now separate the channel :)
Doing great Paul! Just trying to stay sharp as work ramps back up and balancing creative fulfillment with client work! BTW, Loved your suburban research/mystery story, truly eerie! How are you staying sharp and creatively fulfilled during these crazy times? Cheers!
Thank you for the video. Unfortunately, this didn’t work for me. I had already done so much editing, so I decided to just export the audio that I needed converted and then bring it back in and convert it before throwing it in the timeline. That worked.
Thank you for this video, it's absolutely ABSURD that Adobe makes us do this... on Final Cut it's a one-click setting that takes 3 seconds to complete for every clip in your timeline.
Thanks for this thorough explanation. But I do have a question: what is fill right with left and fill left with right? Do these effects do the same thing as what you are explaining here?
Thanks! Those effects can be used to route 1 channel in a stereo clip to both speakers (they won't work with mono clips). I don't use them as much because they don't update in the waveform display.
I got a question: How can I break out a 5.1 clip into separate component channels, so I have editable access in the timeline? It's a great way to separate dialogue from SFX and music...
Hey Bill, just select the clip and go to Modify > Audio Channels and choose the Mono preset - this will automatically split your media into 6 linked clips with 1 channel each.
I have a cabling question. Is there a cable (or just a splitter) that can split combined stereo (with mic) 3.5mm port into left channel mono, right channel mono, and microphone mono?
Every time I create a Multi Cam Sequence it pans the audio to the left and when I Ctr G it, it doesn't even have a left/right option. I tried everything to get it to mono but it will not work with me. have you seen this before?
It's possible that the clip is not the problem, but the sequence settings. Does your sequence Mix track (the lowest track) have a number in the track header?
I'm having an issue with stereo audio only coming out of one channel. In fact, the right channel indicator is not even showing on my layout. After modifying the audio it shows stereo and 2 tracks. I've tried using the audio effects fill right with left to no effect. Help!!!

Glad to hear it was helpful Suji!
Finally someone that solves problems! Thanks for including the changing to mono when in timeline, there is no other video that teaches this trick.

As soon as this video started and the audio was warm as a hot bath I knew to like and subcribe.
Thank you sir!

Welcome aboard Julian!
I'm using the new dji mic if I use one only it goes to left ear is there a way to make it go to both or just use mono in first place lol

@@ThePremierePro That was it? I must have tried things like this, but missed it by a step or two.
damn, "preset" are gray when I try to modify "Audio Channel", how can I make it clickable?
Founf it. It only works with clips in the BIN, not in the Sequence.
I have a cabling question. Is there a cable (or just a splitter) that can split combined stereo (with mic) 3.5mm port into left channel mono, right channel mono, and microphone mono?

No worries Ray. When you load your audio in the Source monitor, how many channels can you see? What is to the left of each channel - an L/R or a 1?
