The Vijayanagara Empire was a powerful South Indian empire that was founded in 1336 by Harihara I and his brother Bukka Raya I. The empire grew to become one of the largest and wealthiest empires in India, dominating most of the Deccan Plateau and parts of South India. The Vijayanagara Empire was known for its military prowess, cultural achievements, and architectural marvels. It was a Hindu empire that promoted the development of art, literature, and music, as well as the construction of grand temples and monuments. The empire reached its zenith under the rule of Krishnadevaraya, who expanded its territories, fostered economic growth, and promoted cultural flourishing. However, after his death in 1529, the empire began to decline due to internal conflicts, invasions by neighboring kingdoms, and economic instability. The Vijayanagara Empire finally fell in 1565 after the Battle of Talikota, where it suffered a crushing defeat at the hands of a coalition of Deccan sultanates. The city of Vijayanagara was looted and destroyed, marking the end of one of the most prosperous empires in Indian history....

De' Conti's descriptions of Indian society and culture were influential in Europe and helped spark interest in the region among European explorers and traders. Overall, Nicolo de' Conti's visit to India played a significant role in increasing European knowledge and understanding of the Indian subcontinent and its rich cultural heritage....
