  • Today we do a walking tour of downtown Los Angeles from Figueroa street and 5th around the central downtown LA area. We check out Staples Center where the Lakers play and the central market area. Downtown is unique, when you are in the financial district of Bunker Hill you feel like you are in a modern city but once you go down the hill you enter towards skid row and things do change in downtown LA.

Thanks for the awesome tour of downtown LA! It's incredible how the vibe shifts from the bustling financial district to the more raw energy of Skid Row. But hey, there's one gem missing from this tour - Quantum Clinic! As an LA local, I highly recommend it for a unique floating spa therapy experience that'll totally calm your mind and body. It's like a hidden oasis in the heart of the city. You and your audience are sure to love it.

I am currently visiting L.A. from Chicago, and I was shocked that it was $100 to get an Uber from LAX to our hotel. Anyway, we took public trans which was a shocker for me because I don't take it in Chicago. But then we got to the area where our hotel was and was told that it's not the downtown area thought the hotel claims to be. Anyway, I was shocked that L.A. downtown isn't as lively as Chicago with different activities and restaurants.

Los Angeles to me never seemed like a good place to walk around as a major city, although the clip at the market early in this video seemed like a pretty neat place. But when you try and compare Los Angeles to Chicago or New York, forget it, those two cities blow L.A. away for sights to see, having great architecture, and a good energetic vibe. I suppose everybody is at the beach!

Critics always forget that New York and Chicago have had more time and history to have developed into the architectural and vertical cities they are today. L.A. is immense and very young in comparison. Los Angeles is currently gentrifying and transitioning into completely new phase of its development. In 5 years, its skyline will have completely been transformed. It wasn't long ago that the city was even largely populated. After 5 p.m. and on the weekends, its core shut down and deserted by everyone that worked there. Now, it's hard to keep up with all loft conversions and sleek new condos going up. Right now, I see New York and Chicago as stunted. They can't grow and expand like Los Angeles will be able to because of its intrinsic land mass. Luckily, because DTLA was neglected for so long most of its legacy architecture remains intact. Combined with its latest architectural development Los Angeles is on track to become a truly beautiful city. L.A. has some serious social issues. Skid row is one of many. Developers have plans to reclaim and gentrify that neighborhood. There is no way they are going to tolerate all the homeless with all the new condos towers they will erect there. Los Angeles will be absolutely forced to deal with it in one form or another.

I live close to NYC and it offers the same homeless and addicts polluting the streets. It is a shame. How could these mayors be content with this? How many police did you see patrolling the streets? This is just another reason why we will not be going there. If we just veer off by one or 2 blocks, we will find ourselves in one of the most dangerous parts of LA and the US? Family outing? In downtown You missed out on some good areas. I recommend the Disney concert hall, US Bank tower, Little Tokyo, the Downtown Library, City Hall, Chinatown, Olvera St / Union station.
But the best parts of LA arent in the Downtown area. Pasadena / San Marino, Americana / Glendale, Beverly Hills, Getty, Echo Park, Wilshire Blvd, Coliseum/Natural History Museum, Long Beach / San Pedro / Pt. Vicente, Burbank / Universal City, are all very worth the visit.

LA sucks. It’s overrated simply because of the high population. That’s on a result of the 1960’s which had home developers selling dirty cheap homes across LA’s vast land. In terms of giving you that urban experience, it’s worse than most midsized towns you can find anywhere in the US, except it’s a lot dumpier. I’d say even Pittsburgh or Minneapolis offer a better urban experience than LA. It’s about as exciting a place as visiting a Walmart.
