This is still just a short and we should be mindful of the fact that it simply can't capture the entire context of the situation.
A counterpoint might be that this might incentivise logistics to move over to railways and waterways for certain selected segments. The current split is way too unbalanced and supply chains are notoriously allergic to change.
Neither of these 2 might be true. Or both may be partially true but asking with a 100 other factors.
IMO, it's necessarily important for us to not form unmallaeable opinions on the back of shorts/reels of all things, even if it is from a source we respect and trust (like LLA) but especially from a source we respect and trust (like LLA, because we are far less likely to challenge their conclusion and take it at face value).
IMO, this short should be limited to a conversation starter. It by no means can be an explanation, let alone a comprehensive one. I understand the economic reasons behind such content but I'm sure that even team LLA would agree with me on the principle.

@@sanjayjoshi2828 old roads are not in good shape. Government don't re-carpet them. Luckily I'm from Gujarat and state highways are free here. But still it's an issue because truckers don't use old routes much. Prices gonna increase.

रोड तो बने लेकिन बस हाईवे। बाकी सारी सड़क टूटी पड़ी हैं। उसके बदले टोल टैक्स का ढेर लेते हैं। 100 किलोमीटर में 3 टोल आ जाते हैं। इसके अलावा वाहन लेते हुए road tax भी देते हैं। पेट्रोल डीजल पर टैक्स बहुत ज्यादा देते हैं। जनता को इस तरह लुटा है कि अब अंग्रेज अच्छे लगने लगे हैं

Some Days before, My teacher taught about Waterways which will be one of the greater savers. India is rich in rivers and they are not utilized well. there are many ways this cost can be cut down less petrol, and maintenance costs. The government should think about it.
While what you have mentioned is true, it won't affect prices at macro level. For eg, say a truck is carrying goods worth 10L or whatever amount, it pays a toll of total 2000 (considering 10 tolls) across a given route. Post increment, toll would become 2100 which is very low if you compare it to the monetary value of goods being carried. The proportional value matters.

Just to clarify,
Toll rates are revised every year from 1st April by around 05%.
This year, because of the Model code of conduct guidelines, the rates were not revised from 1st April instead rates were revised after the last polling date I.e. 01.06.2024.
NHAI offices on 02.06.2024 informed about increase in toll rates in local newspapers and thereafter from 03.06.2024 onward rates were increased as per newspaper publication on earlier date.

Great video with a touch of humor. This loot of tolls have to stop. Roads are responsibility of the government. We are already paying taxes daily on literally everything including petrol. Roads should be built using that money.

Price change or hike by NHAI is an annual event which usually occurs on 1st april every year but this year due to elections it was delayed for a month and waited till results.

Toll tax have some different objectives, presently most of NHAI project build on PPP, BOP model......

Toll cost is only 15-20% of overall transportation cost, so overall transportation cost goes up by 1%. Transportation cost itself is only 20-30% of goods cost. So, the overall effect of toll is < 0.5%

Yes it's true my father is deriver and he have to pay toll tax + police (kharcha) these experiences company doesn't pay. And if my father increase the price of delivery goods then they don't give him work😢
Assume that my father delivered goods from Delhi to Agra then he get 4000 to 4500 plus he have to pay toll for one side assume 250 and for another side 250 plus have to pay police man 100 or 200 rupees plus 1700 to 2000 vehicle.
Total amount is 500 + 200 + 2000 = 2700
And we also have vehicle lone on it so nothing we can save 😞

Toll taxes compared to the total transportation cost, is Merely about 10%. Considering transportation cost be the 10% of the Final cost of the goods, 5% increase in toll means 0.05% increase in the cost to the Goods. That 0.05% increase is generally borne by the Company, Distributor and Retailers themselves.
Increase in Prices of Vegetables by more than 50%-100% is of much concern.
Perfect way of teaching the economics to everyones
Better highways mean faster average speed, higher fuel economy, faster lead times, lower stress/maintenance and thus lower costs. All these benefits can easily cover this 5% hike.
Secondly railway’s carries the bulk of the goods transportation.

Har saal 5% badta hai, so that the institution that funds the project gets their ROI adjusted w inflation. Also, end consumer par itna farak nai padta, 5% of total cost nai badi. 5% of transportation cost bhi nai badi. 5% on TOLL cost badi which is usually only a small subset of transportation cost, and even smaller subset of total cost.
Most goods ke end cost mei negligible hoti hai. Btw negative cost bhi ho sakti hai, wherein the money saved on fuel and time due to highways is saved.

First thing is that toll is collected on highways and the highways are constructed to go fast and secure and also where the highways are less in km compared to other routes
So the point is when you go through bad roads orther roads compared to highways you spend more time and more fuel compared to highways if they are saving something on highways why can't they even pay?
But if quality of roads are good and travel time reduces then it will bring the optimisation in supply chain. Which helps new business to grow better and competition helps in reducing cost as it abolishes monopoly and brings in fair price.

It is 5% means, before it is 100+5%= 105, now it will be 100+(5*5%)%= 105.25.
Means just befor ₹5 now ₹5.25. just .25 paisa extra on ₹100.
