I just noticed that the whole gang looks deathly pale and corpse like, but “Velma” looks normal. I like that story telling there, like something is keeping her young and vibrant but everyone else looks like they’re getting the life sucked out of them.
I don't think their life force is getting drained, I think that's symptomatic of their emotional response to what's going on. Whatever's controlling her, by contrast, isn't upset, scared or worried at all.
I mean the lore does say Velma sucks out the souls of living things. Maybe the rest of them are slowly being drained by it, kinda like a chain smoking type of thing
I'm pretty sure it's because they are scared, they can't sleep, they think she'll do something to them. And probably she already doing something to them...
You see, THIS is the kinda spin the series needed, the way you portray the characters and little quirks or nicknames, it leaves its own story interpretation to be held, its a billion times better than what was regurgitated by Mindy.
We need a Scooby-Doo series set in a grim-dark/horror setting, preferably with the gang's work being hampered and covered up by glow in the dark federal agents.
Check out “Velma meets original Velma” I saw a 20 second clip of it and thought it was actual plot of season 2 and almost started to watch the damn thing 🤣😂
Not really...well in a way yeah...minus the unnecessary race swapping of the characters...since Mindy and other people like her are just deluded and have zero creative bones in their body...hence why they resort to genderswap, raceswap and even another swap which i will not mention...
"THAT'S NOT ME" over and over and over again... this hit me in the throat. imagine the sheer desperation of being possessed and the only thing you can do is write in a book while whatever possessed you is sleeping... filling the ENTIRE book top to bottom, front to back with the only thing you need people to know
There was a little boy, years ago, whose personality changed completely. His mother took him to several doctors, and they all diagnosed him with different mental disorders, and medications as I recall. Nothing changed. Then one day, he walked up to his mother and handed her a sheet of paper, with one word written on it: “HELP” Turns out, he had streptococcus, which triggered an autoimmune response that was attacking his brain. Thankfully, they were able to save him and he returned to normal, but it likely would have killed him before long.
@@vincentproud6589 I don't remember the one I saw on TV, since it was around fifteen years ago, but there was one more recent named Parker. UPDATE: After poking around, it might have been David. There's a video uploaded in 2022 that shows him grown up, and given the time distance, I think that might be him.
Love the part where Daphne explains she’s seen what mental illness is and that Velma is different. The way she says it is so foreboding. Props to the VA
@@Pastelpurplecryptidnever seen much of that series (due to the shows being random but the same on my tv) so I don't know any info about the characters. But Daphne knowing what the symptoms look like because of her mother is a good detail.
@@twist_ending7545 not just her mother, she also said that her dad was left alone in the house for 1 week and they found him crawling around naked or something? 💀 It's a miracle she turned out as stable as she did lmao
EXACTLY WHAT I WAS THINKING, the first thing I noticed though was the eyes, bright, gleeful, energized, she’s not the real Velma, though it has her skin
Also she doesn’t move almost at all. All of the others, even if they aren’t moving as much as Shaggy was, they still had small moves to accompany their speech, but she was almost completely still besides handing the journal over and the slight eye movement she makes when saying “completely fine!” It’s got a large amount of uncanny value in it and it’s fascinating to see it done in such extremely subtle ways.
Things i noticed 1. Velma is the only one that starts looking at the camera. 2. Velma starts crying when they open the journal. Possibly meaning she wants help and is hoping that they could help. 3. The tears could be about how her friends care for her 4. She states she is vegan after the comment about the dog. Possibly meaning she ate the dog. 5. She doesn't blink 6. Everyone looks tierd while she looks awake and fine. To the point where she looks creepy
Also that the tears are yellow, this can mean A) her head is filled with that yellow liquid, possibly the thing that’s controlling her, B) she’s crying blood, but her blood has zero iron on it, which means that the body is dead and being controlled like a puppet
I never expected the phrase “Oh, definitely not, I’m vegan!” to be so scary given the context. I hope these characters make some more appearances in other videos of yours, as this was thrilling!
If I was the therapist with her being my client and her friend who owned the dog saying it was weird she offered to watch him and my neighbor had cameras and I did and He should have been there When I got back but he was not and then her Saying she is vegan response to Oh did you have a dog a while ago would Draw a HUGE Line for Like HOLY SHIT how is that therapist that stupid
Well on this channel this is canon, thank our lord and savior Neytirix for this gift to the mortal realm Jokes aside I haven't watched any of Velma, the reviews other YTers have done have been more then enough for me so I can and will pretend this is canon because I like Ney's story writing way more then most shows ^^'
@@strangeactuallylegume he said his place had cameras, along with his neighbors, and since he also mentioned that they didn't leave once meant he checked the cameras and saw nothing happening. yet Scooby wasn't there when he arrived, so it's pretty bone chilling terrifying
I mean... am I the only one getting the obvious hint that she ate him? Or devoured/harvested in some other way. Mostly because either Scooby is somehow hidden in the house and Shaggy cannot find him - but the fervent "He's not there" from Shaggy seems to imply he really isn't there - otherwise him being hidden would be sort of a letdown "No actually he is there." "Oh" So if he's not there theres really only a couple way he could have gone, namely down the drains or inside well.... you know. Which is perhaps again hinted at when Velma is asked about her "having a Dog"... And he first instinctive response is she's vegan. Now obviously - making fun of the "vegans will always tell you theyre vegans" stereotype is likely. But more likely, especially with how taken aback the psychiatrist is - is that Velma's first thought was genuinely of having... eaten Scooby. Her tears after this moment could also perhaps be "for Scooby", assuming as we see after - that "this" is not the real Velma. And that the real Velma had to watch whatever has overtaken her... eat her friend's dog... Tears, would be appropriate I feel. Then again - could just be that she was crying over what a pathetic mess was made out of the show :p God knows thats also a tragedy worth spilling tears over xP
Now THIS is horror. No jumpscares, emotions that feel real, characters that feel alive, it makes you sit on the edge of your seat and a plot that feels mysterious
seriously. this is the kind of horror that needs to become the norm. genuine, real feeling fear. I like Five Nights at Freddy's and things like that, but it just isnt the same as genuine horror like this
honestly, yeah! if this was the kinda horror that was common, id be able to say that i like horror! but unfortunitly, a lotta "horror" stuff isnt actual horror, just "ooh jumpscare, big loud thing go stomp stomp! oh you have access to a gun and ammo and could easily kill it? no. just no. no reason just screw you."
@@oblozs10 people don’t like them because jumpscares require set up to be good. Like they need a whole buildup but most modern horror doesn’t give jumpscares enough tension for it to be good, thats why it seems really cheap nowadays.

The bald guy...? Are you referring to... Doctor Lecter? He's a man of taste, I'm pretty certain that he would have a hard time, uhm, swallowing your description.
I love how, in a weird and creepy way, Scooby is still the main protagonist without even existing anymore. He's the reason why everyone got together to talk about Velma, and he's on a drawing with all of them. It's a really creative way to take him out, without actually taking him out.
@@cottoncandyswirl8289 yeah, if they had put some effort, the original series could have done something cool But you know... Unfortunately hbo seems to only want fast money over making a good series 😭
honestly the best thing to come out of the velma show is how many people have taken to redesigning the characters in much better ways, and making the story what it was originally supposed to be. The people of youtube gotta rise up and make a webseries about this to give them justice.
A big detail thats easy to miss is that Velma isn't exactly "gone" as the other gang members claim. Whatever is inside her is controlling her body to an extent but it seems like she's still alive and concious. She started crying when the interviewer said her friends are worried about her, and she wrote on the diary "Thats not me" repeatedly so others would notice, which also confirms the *thing* inside her cannot see.

Was not expecting to go there with Daphne accidentally mentioning her Mom's mental illnesses- and wow this concept is cool, Velma being possessed like this makes for such an interesting story.
One is a critic to the state of decade old franchises while also being a story of a eldritch creature wanting to have a happy life with mortals he loves but one of this mortals just refuses to forget and let the mistery unresolved yet the beast can help himself but to still love her despite she’s the cause of everything Meanwhile the other is a history about a gang of kids being ruined by a thing possessing one of them and killing the dog, and a mistery of what are they gonna do next Is he going to recover form he’s pet loss? What is her connection with the paranormal? Are they gonna save her? One is a critic and a history of a impossible wish and the other is a unresolved history of a tragedy
Two things : 1) Its great how you implemented fact that "new Velma" is just impostor pretending to be her, and explained why theres no Scooby anymore. 2) Face animations are fantastic. So slight changes cause faces to show such diverse emotions.
It's quite a bit worse than that I think. It's not an impostor but a being that took her over. She is still alive in there but trapped behind the monster.
Not gonna lie, your versions of them look better than the original. Like, Velma for example, her design reminds me of a sweet little girl that won't harm a fly. Actually adorable.
Yes. The lines are smoother somehow. She has those big eyes like what other versions of Velma imply with her glasses. The glasses here are like a mask to hide behind. And I love that in her character design. Large eyes are associated with innocence and curiosity. There are also eyes wide in fear like they can’t believe what they’re seeing. Like, this Velma knows her situation and she’s so afraid and desperate. She’s so cute and looks just so sweet. Like, it’s tragic that this little lady has been possessed. And the body horror of eating your friends dog with no control over your own body. Gosh.
Seeing Velma crying with a smile , acting odd and that all she wrote was "That's not me" over and over make me thinks this might be a nod to the horror movie 'GET OUT' .
I don’t know either of those, but I think it most likely is a reference to the famous scene from “The Shining”. You know, the “All work and no play makes Jack a full boy”.
you literally created a more compelling story in under 3 minutes than the entirety of "Velma." If they wanted to elevate scooby-doo to an adult audience, what you did there would have been a MUCH better way to do it. Kudos
saying "it's better than Velma" doesn't mean anything. if the bar is wedged between the floor tiles, even a coin could roll over it. i am being a pedant, but otherwise yeah this shit is good!
@@9Jaker9 Never said it was cannon. The creators said they wanted to "elevate Scooby Doo to an adult audience." and in order to do that, they got rid of scooby, among other terrible decisions.
I like that, when velma says "completely fine" her eyes move's a bit, indicating that,in somewhere, velma is still here, giving us signs of the lies of the creature.
I love how they all managed to have the iconic "SB" symbol of Scooby's collar along with their own "created version" of Scooby, Shaggy has the ghost of a dog, Daphne has bones that resemble the ones of a dog, Fred has literaly a flesh dog with the Scooby colar, and Velma (most likely) ate a dog
Honestly the creepiest part of this that gives it a good horror factor is that all of Velma's friends are distressed. Each looking like and sounding like they are the breaking point or completely given up. Yet all of their distress is because of Velma, then when we finally see her, she seems the most stable till you hear the off handed "no I'm vegan" then the notebook. It would be a good story to explore, where no one believes them because Velma's false persona points to her being the normal one and them being the crazy ones, combine that with the fact no one is going to believe supernatural events.
ohhhhhh!! and then they transform themselves to try and capture her all the while Velma sheds her human form bit by bit. Hence the drawings at the end.
At first I was thinking that given they labeled a bunch of disorders on her people would not be viewing her as normal. but thinking on it that could be part of the trick. As it slowly learns to act more human it would pretend it is the result of the drugs. and this would further make people disbelieve her as it could be seen as them interfering with her recovery.
I love the way you portrayed Fred. Hes not a jerk like in the Tv show. He deeply cares for Velma and even says he is in her friend group. I think thats amazing. Good work love the art and animation. I think i have watched multiple times in about two days. Keep up the good work. Love your videos.
Each of them having a aspect of scooby honestly fits. *Shaggy* the one who always bumps Heads with the supernatural first, the closest to him, has his spirit *Daphne* the one who completes the group, who is always there to find the keys to solving the mystery, has his skeleton *Fred* the one who always makes the plan, the one who carried them to victory, has his muscles *Velma* the one who always figures out the truth, the one who always makes sense of the mysterious, -has his skin-
Holy crap, I love the interpretation!! But also @@3triplezero0 is right, Scooby's complete set of organs (including skin) is what makes her look so much like a biological mutilation.
I like that the metaphor for velma being a skinwalker not only ties her to an aspect of the missing mystery scooby and like the other commenter she holds people together, but its also of course because velma IS AN IMPOSTER SHES SUS THATS NOT MY VELMA HASHKHSOFJAHGFUERTAG NOTMYVELLLMMAMAAA A * twittergasm *
I wish they leaned into that instead of a shown by a terf with lots of ableism that romanticizes straight up sexual assault (kissing someone who is in a state that's closely to unconscious is sa by definition, especially because even before the state she didn't give her consent (btw even if she did if the person is now not able to that doesn't matter)) and try being "haha white people" while the director hates herself for not being white
As someone that has fallen into insanity over a scarily similar situation. He played it perfectly to the point where I had to smoke a fat blunt to calm down. Sounded exactly like me with my therapist ngl. Kodoos to the actor who showed how truely angering to insanity it is to just not know the truth even though deep down you already know it.
This... is actually pretty interesting. And not just because comparatively ANYTHING is 10000x more interesting than Velma, I mean this is legit a really good concept and I'd watch this as a show. Also love the subtle hints that Velma is trapped in her own body and she's trying to warn everyone that she's possessed. From writing "that's not me" in her journal to crying. Cool ass concept.
I feel like the bright side of this situation is that Velma knows that she’s possessed. And even so, she can still take enough control of her body to write that message and put it in the envelope and give it to the investigator.
The Mandela effect is probably what I think is going on. Probably something morphed her body or mind into something else or made her into an alternate. This theory sounded better in my head Edit: I’m not surprised everyone is crucifying me in the replies so I will apologize for my lack of knowledge of the Mandela catalog and I hope this won’t start a war.
The real Velma trying to communicate through the journal and get out of whatever the hell she’s in, is so sad. I love this so much, it’s like she’s trapped in her own body and can only cry. Gosh, it’s so perfect. The art style, the colors, the lip syncing, the frames, how we see it, the art at the end. GOSH. This is literally perfect.
It's like being paralyzed while in agony and your screams of pain don't come out,and instead is someone else saying that you are fine and all you can do is cry and wait for someone to understand. Also I'm your 500th like 👍
One of my worst recurring nightmares is this exact scenario. Something in the house makes my body go outside and mutilate itself in grotesque ways, including repeatedly jumping from heights until my teeth crack. Then it marches me back inside and my family is there, and I desperately want to tell them what's happening and to please help, but it forces me to only give a closed-lip smile. Something becomes my pilot, and I can talk about anything except that.
It reminds me of one of the plagues of the God of Pestilence Nurgle: A kind of Zombie infection that transforms your body into a living being independent of you, both your soul and your body are corrupted by chaos and worst of all, you continue Helplessly aware of everything your body is doing, even trying to cry on the inside or trying to scream for help results in a maniacal smile or psycho laugh coming out of your mouth
@@randomasshumanbeing2078 thanks, I've been thinking of writing a story involving this type of stuff for a long time but I'm scared that no one will like it so ur words brightened my day a little : )
If you did a web show of this. Just interviews of her progress or any sort I feel like it would be a bigger hit then the train wreck that is Velma. I love your designs for the interviewed and the magazine covers so much better.
i'd definetly watch a show like this, a darker scooby doo that. instead of fake ghost stuff they are facing real paranormal horrors to keep the world safe from the shadows.,
I like the detail in the opening section that Velma is coloured more saturated than the others. Shaggy, Daphne and Fred have these dim and greyish colours like their surroundings blending them in, but Velma is coloured much more harshly and stands out much more than the others, this differentiates her from the others, implying something is wrong. There's so much more in this video and the illustrations that come with it, i'm honestly amazed by the work put into these videos. ⦿◽︎⦿
I wouldn't say deep or philosophical are the words I'd use necessarily, since there aren't really any bigger themes here. The story is just exactly what it looks like it is.
I love how each member of the gang has a part of Scoob but also have his name tag, Daphne with the bones, Fred with the flesh, Shaggy with the soul, and Velma with *anything that was left*
@@Whatswrongwithmybrain Exactly! It would have better if they just made a series that made the "mysteries" of the original series being all in her head, and she was just insane in an insane asylum it would have been better.
@@electrobob992 To be fair if velma was'nt as bad as it was everyone would have hated that with how it trivialises the entire series. But as it is now yeah it would be better.
Voice acting was far from being the worst part of the show tho. People dunk on the animation too but tbf it's OK. The thing is since the writing is so bad some people assumed it was purposefully bad and the intentions were pathetic at best, disgusting at worst... Well every other aspects of the show were defiled. Imagine being a baker who produce every day traditional french bread only to realize with horror people revile the bread because it is sold inside dirty public toilets... I pity the animators, and except for a few the voice actors as well.
And just like that, an actually dark, mature, and scary version of the Velma show was born - I'd love to see this in a fully fledged story as all of the crew eventually become monsters but try to keep close to their humanity - each time velma getting further away
The way she tears up indicates two things: 1) Velma is still in there trying to fight off the monster from invading her mind and taking over her body, once she heard that the others deeply cared for her, she was heartbroken and moved into tears 2)Shaggy mentions that she’s allergic to dogs, when velma responded to the interviewer about a dog she had, she responds in a way which implies she ate the dog by thinking the interviewer meant if she ate a dog, And when she’s tearing up and says its her allergies, It could very likely be that she’s still eating scooby’s corpse
@@annieandelsieofarendelle3294 i mean she says "oh no im vegan" in response to the therapist talking about shaggys dog, then right after she starts crying and says its her allergies... which shaggy said she was allergic to dogs
@@grahamrange7092 no. Because at the end of the day, mystery incorporated is still a kid's show. That garbage they tried to pass off as a reboot was very clearly geared toward an adult audience. This masterpiece is a perfect example of what it should have been.
The thing I absolutely LOVE about these drawings is the fact that all of them have elements of Scooby that attributes to their powers Shaggy has the spirit of scooby, along with the tag that he wears Daphne has a dog(?) skull with scooby's collar tag Fred has the corpse of Scooby with no skin And Velma has it all. I also love the detail that the teeth in Velma's photo seems to be her sweater, it's such a small but neat detail.
not to mention, scoobys dog tag is in her abdominal cavity (stomach)- which is probably a design choice but, pairing that with the "no, I'm Vegan!" line adds more to it- at least for me.
It goes deeper too, the part of Scooby each of them has relates to the role they play on the team as well! Daphne has Scooby's skeleton, the carcass that holds everything else together. She is the team's support and the one who funds their adventures. Without her, everything falls apart. Fred has Scooby's muscles, the motor that drives the body forward. He is the de-facto leader and main "doer" of the team. Without him, the team couldn't function properly. Shaggy has Scooby's spirit, because he is the emotional core of the team. He is the one who keeps things fun and lighthearted. Without him, the team could technically still function, but it would be hollow and soulless. Fittingly he is also the one with the greatest emotional bond to Scooby.
Its almost like the implication is that whatever possessed Velma devoured scooby and divided him to three pieces. His soul, his bones, his flesh.... Maybe the thing in her isn't malevolent exactly but it is still something... horrifying.,
They could genuinely make a great adult horror story using Scooby-Doo characters. Not every villian in the Scooby-Doo universe is just some clown in a mask. Actual ghosts and demons canonically exist in the verse and the Mystery gang has even encountered them. The show could literally start with this premise that Velma encountered a spirit/demon who was too tough to defeat and just straight up possessed her.
I think the one good thing to come out of 'Velma' are the amazing art pieces like this completely reconceptualizing it into something horrific and amazing.
This was brilliantly done, the idea that as friends they liked to solve mysteries and go into haunted houses for fun until one day a place turned out to be REAL and none of them know except velma... amazing all the hints from velma that something is off. The "No, I'm vegan." while crying was truly haunting.
That's the kind of mature spin-off fans were hoping for. A similar feel to the regular Scooby-doo formula but with a dark twist. Not... what we _actually_ got.
I also love how fred, daphne, and shaggy have parts of scooby with them (flesh, bones and soul). It is quite vague but very interesting, like what happened to scooby, what did velma/or the entity with velma do, what exactly the titles are for and so much more. So much more potential on a youtube art video than what we got on a show out there
..I would definitely watch this series.. creepy, unsettling, absolutely loveable characters despite the changes that truly respect the source material while taking a new fresh spin to it- and you did it all with so very little dialogue, the writing is phenominal! You deserve to create a show with scooby doo ! Thank you for bringing this masterpiece to life, this will always be canon to my heart over whatever mindy puked up
The idea that it starts off like any other Scooby-doo series; the "gang" goes around solving mysteries. Unmasking bad guys and just generally hanging out while solving crimes. Then the twist happens; one day it isn't a man in a mask. It isn't just a mystery. It's a myth, a legend, a _curse_ and Velma unfortunately gets dragged into it. So there's that creepy undertone of just how much of Velma is still in control and how much is the "monster" that's taken over. Thus the rest of the gang has to try and figure out this _new_ type of mystery all the while Velma gets worse and worse... and the body counting starts going up. This is how you take an old series and give it a mature feel to it.
Yeah i actually noticed that but was unsure if i was just reaching or not. Velma, when out of focus giving the notebook over, has her eyes drift down to it before snapping back just before she comes back into focus. I think that was an instance of the actual Velma breaking through somewhat as the notebook is her desperately crying out for help
This would make a very interesting premise. When the gang went to the Crystal Cove, Velma went missing. She would be found the next day. Unknowingly to the rest of the gang, some entity from the cave has possessed Velma. Possibly causing her to go on a murder spree with Scooby being the first victim. She would later on kill other residents of the town. Fred, Shaggy and Daphne have to find a way to save Velma before things get worse.
I absolutely adore how much uncanny valley went into this version of Velma. The way that out of all the others, she’s the most brightly colored, she doesn’t move at all besides handing the book over and the small eye movement during “Completely fine!” All of it giving the idea that “this does seem to be a human, but something is slightly wrong.” The way that all the others give in depth answers and sometimes even speak without being asked anything, letting themselves vent in what seems to be a therapy session. But she doesn’t say anything. She’s asked a question, gives an answer that doesn’t line up and if anything makes her even more terrifying, and then stays silent with no more explanation. Amazing job on this, I would kill for a Scooby show like this!
I didn't even notice the eye movement! That is a very blink-and-you'll-miss-it kind of detail. Also, it kind of lends credence to the implication that the REAL Velma is still in there, aware and desperate for the therapist to just NOTICE that "IT'S NOT ME". Creepy!
I love how the gang (besides Velma) is using an aspect of Scooby Doo. Shaggy was his heart and soul so it makes sense (to me at least) that he would keep Scooby-Doos soul. Fred is a mastermind with traps so using the flesh of a dead animal would be perfect (and I hope shaggy doesn't mind since he has his soul). Daphne being a ( I want to say) necromancer and using Scoobys bones is fitting since she is supposed to be both caring and fierce. Like a rose. Beautiful but dangerous to touch. And Velma well she is the monster.
This is such a cool take on this version of the gang. If the crap that turned out to be the show was like this, I would have watched it. It could even make sense, a progression of the scooby gang becoming supernatural to investigate even more supernatural things could be aged up a bit. The art looks great, I think Norville was my favourite this time around, the lighting effects are sick.
I'm so bothered the show wasn't like this. Velma feels like a show with Scooby Doo slapped on for marketing. This feels like an adult Scooby Doo. All of them are so likeable here and so much interest and mystery spawns from 2 minutes. I hope this becomes a series 😍😍😍
4:39 In the drawings the Scooby-do parts such as soul, bones, etc show the relationship between each of the characters. The closest, Shaggy has the soul, Daphne has the bones (2nd closest), Fred has the flesh (the 3rd closest), and Velma has the skin (the farthest from Scoob)
A few things that I liked about this video: 1. There were no jump scares at all. 2. The improvement in animation and in how the body and lips are animated. and 3. The character designs at the end are just incredible and terrific! That is it from me and have a great day, Neytirix!
I have so much intrigue in this single sprinkle of story compared to the dumpster fire they tried to give us lol. This is why I always get so excited for your videos.
The end bit of the journal stating "that's not me" over and over made me feel like it was building up as a sort of action horror reboot on the Scooby-Doo monster apocalypse comic where the gang have to find a way to bring Velma back using the crystals that caused her current state while also avoiding the thing that's supposedly their friend.
The most heartbreaking moment was when Velma started crying. Something that controls her says she's fine but inside she may screaming,,I didn't want to hurt my friends. I didn't want to hurt Scooby " True nightmare for her
As soon as Shaggy said his dog was gone but that it couldn't have just ran away because of the cameras I knew where this was going... doesn't make it any less terrifying
I can't get over how Scooby is portrayed in each of the designs, I need more of this because these characters have gone through something traumatic and I NEED to know how it ends
The fact that *Velma* Said “Im Vegan!” Makes me think if she ate Scooby. Because Norville mentions that they didn’t leave the house but couldn’t be found anywhere.
How is it that in just 2 minutes you managed to tell a much more compelling adult ScoobyDoo story than the producers of Velma could ever even dream of. now want to at least read about what ever the hell is going on here. not to mention how much i would love to see it as a full series. but as always i love your Dark Art takes on things.
I want your story to be expanded so badly holy crap, I'm hooked in like a fish seeing a worm on a suspicious hook, like a discord mod chasing a hamburger, like a child sprinting away from their parents to go to the toys section, like the speed sneako tells his discord to formulate responces for him. I'm just trying to say I would go watch it with immense speed and clicking precision to watch it.

I just noticed that the whole gang looks deathly pale and corpse like, but “Velma” looks normal. I like that story telling there, like something is keeping her young and vibrant but everyone else looks like they’re getting the life sucked out of them.
Damn I wouldve never noticed it lmao
I don't think their life force is getting drained, I think that's symptomatic of their emotional response to what's going on. Whatever's controlling her, by contrast, isn't upset, scared or worried at all.
I mean the lore does say Velma sucks out the souls of living things. Maybe the rest of them are slowly being drained by it, kinda like a chain smoking type of thing
It’s also hella exhausting trying to cage the beast inside of Velma…
I'm pretty sure it's because they are scared, they can't sleep, they think she'll do something to them.
And probably she already doing something to them...
You see, THIS is the kinda spin the series needed, the way you portray the characters and little quirks or nicknames, it leaves its own story interpretation to be held, its a billion times better than what was regurgitated by Mindy.
Agreed. I WISH we got this

There was a little boy, years ago, whose personality changed completely. His mother took him to several doctors, and they all diagnosed him with different mental disorders, and medications as I recall. Nothing changed. Then one day, he walked up to his mother and handed her a sheet of paper, with one word written on it:
“HELP”
Turns out, he had streptococcus, which triggered an autoimmune response that was attacking his brain. Thankfully, they were able to save him and he returned to normal, but it likely would have killed him before long.

EXACTLY WHAT I WAS THINKING, the first thing I noticed though was the eyes, bright, gleeful, energized, she’s not the real Velma, though it has her skin
@@megeelee I think whatever has Velma is sharing a body with her. She's still there and conscious but it has more control but can't see
Also she doesn’t move almost at all.
Her eyes also look very wide and fearful even though she's smiling. The other characters had more realistic expressions so it sticks out.
Things i noticed
1. Velma is the only one that starts looking at the camera.
2. Velma starts crying when they open the journal. Possibly meaning she wants help and is hoping that they could help.
3. The tears could be about how her friends care for her
4. She states she is vegan after the comment about the dog. Possibly meaning she ate the dog.

SAMEEEEEEE
I mean... am I the only one getting the obvious hint that she ate him? Or devoured/harvested in some other way.
Mostly because either Scooby is somehow hidden in the house and Shaggy cannot find him - but the fervent "He's not there" from Shaggy seems to imply he really isn't there - otherwise him being hidden would be sort of a letdown "No actually he is there." "Oh"
So if he's not there theres really only a couple way he could have gone, namely down the drains or inside well....

@dReliq that's the premise of this whole story

@@enzo4164Yea, and she keeps that unsettling smile the whole time too.
At first I was thinking that given they labeled a bunch of disorders on her people would not be viewing her as normal. but thinking on it that could be part of the trick. a child could fix that show in 2mins lol ney just smashed the universe into species and built a better space time continuum
@@electrobob992 To be fair if velma was'nt as bad as it was everyone would have hated that with how it trivialises the entire series. But as it is now yeah it would be better.
I believe this is called "speedrunning"
Better voice acting than ANYTHING in the entire show. Seriously, high quality.
Better everything than anything in the entire show. Can we just make this the show?
Voice acting was far from being the worst part of the show tho. People dunk on the animation too but tbf it's OK.
The thing is since the writing is so bad some people assumed it was purposefully bad and the intentions were pathetic at best, disgusting at worst... Well every other aspects of the show were defiled.
Imagine being a baker who produce every day traditional french bread only to realize with horror people revile the bread because it is sold inside dirty public toilets...
I pity the animators, and except for a few the voice actors as well.
Bro the fact the real Velma is still conscious is a really cool fact, Velma crying and the writing saying it’s not her trying to message people
And just like that, an actually dark, mature, and scary version of the Velma show was born - I'd love to see this in a fully fledged story as all of the crew eventually become monsters but try to keep close to their humanity - each time velma getting further away
Oh my, that sound so cool and seem like something i want to look up to!
If it's like the video then they'd most likely have to fight or trap the one inhabiting Velma.
Yes
Woah
The way she tears up indicates two things:
1) Velma is still in there trying to fight off the monster from invading her mind and taking over her body, once she heard that the others deeply cared for her, she was heartbroken and moved into tears
2)Shaggy mentions that she’s allergic to dogs, when velma responded to the interviewer about a dog she had, she responds in a way which implies she ate the dog by thinking the interviewer meant if she ate a dog, And when she’s tearing up and says its her allergies, It could very likely be that she’s still eating scooby’s corpse
Or that the true Velma is crying over what her body was forced to do.
@@annieandelsieofarendelle3294 i mean she says "oh no im vegan" in response to the therapist talking about shaggys dog, then right after she starts crying and says its her allergies... which shaggy said she was allergic to dogs
Scooby snacks…oh no…
its both i think.
Oh I thought it was because they weren’t blinking
"One of them mentioned a dog you had a few weekends ago."
"Oh no, definitely not. I'm vegan!"
This is what dark comedy should've been
THIS is how the new Scooby-Doo should have been. Darker, more twisted. SERIOUS. Like there's actual weight to the stakes at hand.
Like mystery incorporated?
@@grahamrange7092 no. Because at the end of the day, mystery incorporated is still a kid's show. That garbage they tried to pass off as a reboot was very clearly geared toward an adult audience. This masterpiece is a perfect example of what it should have been.
The thing I absolutely LOVE about these drawings is the fact that all of them have elements of Scooby that attributes to their powers
Shaggy has the spirit of scooby, along with the tag that he wears
Daphne has a dog(?) skull with scooby's collar tag
Fred has the corpse of Scooby with no skin
And Velma has it all.
I also love the detail that the teeth in Velma's photo seems to be her sweater, it's such a small but neat detail.
Daphne has all bones Scooby
not to mention, scoobys dog tag is in her abdominal cavity (stomach)- which is probably a design choice but, pairing that with the "no, I'm Vegan!" line adds more to it- at least for me.
Maybe the thing in her isn't malevolent exactly but it is still something... horrifying.,
The whole idea of Velma not being normal was really nicely interpreted with her staring into the camera unlike the others who would look around.
the only time she looks away is when she says “I’m completely fine”, and people generally look away from others eyes when they’re lying
You can also see her eyes is in uneven in the end

They could genuinely make a great adult horror story using Scooby-Doo characters. Not every villian in the Scooby-Doo universe is just some clown in a mask. Actual ghosts and demons canonically exist in the verse and the Mystery gang has even encountered them.
The show could literally start with this premise that Velma encountered a spirit/demon who was too tough to defeat and just straight up possessed her.
I think the one good thing to come out of 'Velma' are the amazing art pieces like this completely reconceptualizing it into something horrific and amazing.
Have you seen the Velma meets original Velma vid? Its so good.
@@madrex512 Yes, I absolutely loved it.
i like how turning velma into an anxiety inducing existential horror short has been a trend lately
Well, people are trying to make it more uplifting than Kaling's version. That's a normal and sane reaction.
Literally anything else > one spewing their ideology with fund
So much more potential on a youtube art video than what we got on a show out there
@@en9719 I thought that maybe Velma may have eaten Scooby-Doo just because of the I'm vegan comment
2:55, The silhouetted horror fantasy versions of these characters look awesome, along with the glitching obscuring the entity possessing Velma.
..I would definitely watch this series.. creepy, unsettling, absolutely loveable characters despite the changes that truly respect the source material while taking a new fresh spin to it- and you did it all with so very little dialogue, the writing is phenominal!
@@andrewowens4421 SHUT UP AND TAKE MY MONEY 💵
I love it so much
I mean shaggy is still a completely different person but Welp 😂
I love that "Velma" has her gaze fixed to the front at all times but two:
When she hands the notebook, and when she says she is ok
Amazing job on this, I would kill for a Scooby show like this!
the music building up as well. God, it's so good
I didn't even notice the eye movement! That is a very blink-and-you'll-miss-it kind of detail. Also, it kind of lends credence to the implication that the REAL Velma is still in there, aware and desperate for the therapist to just NOTICE that "IT'S NOT ME". Creepy!
@@lordchronus1179 speaking of blinking she doesn’t blink. Once. At all. I’m terrified holy shit.
This 5 minute video managed to be far more interesting and unique than Velma could ever hope to achieve.
this is ten million times better than the actual show so far
10 million times better*
I wonder if its legal to do a parody show
I love how the gang (besides Velma) is using an aspect of Scooby Doo.
