Bamboo is far and away the most versatile building material there is. Lighter than wood and several times as strong. Split it really thin and you can make rope and twine that is much stronger than hemp. Heat cured and scraped, it can make a surgically sharp blade. Makes great containers and pipes. And you can also eat it.
The young shoots of bamboo are a potato-like tuber that can be cooked like any starchy vegetable. Those who grow bamboo commercially have to thin their stands regularly and sell the shoots as a by product. The largest species of bamboo can produce a shoot with up to 50 pounds of starchy carbohydrate.
drip irrigation or drop by drop, good idea! however, if it is sunny day water must not drip on the leaves, as this causes phytophthora on the leaves, the structure should be lowered closer to the ground, ie that water drips near the roots
He should try building a yard waste bin, then he can gather the fallen leaves+water+time and he'll have some nutrient rich soil to spread around the plants. Love this guy, always such great ideas!
Friday, august 3, 2018. Who is this person living in the wilderness that seems to be a master of everything that helps to build things from scratch with stone utensils built by himself. He seems to me he is a graduated man from a school of survival from the armed forces or any institution that teaches this type of living. What is his name? He deserves my respect and appreciation for showing us how to survive in the jungles of tropical countries. It is a wonderful video and so are the rest of them. Thanks!!
Excellent system.. but, I would recommend trying a charcoal-chicken s**t compost fertilizer alongside that irrigation system. That clay soil you have is fantastic for using to build structures but not quite so good for agriculture. charcoal chicken s**t compost fertilizer is the kind that they used in the jungles of central America prior to the development of intensive farming and artificial fertilizers. Whatever you do though, I definitely suggest working that ground, cassava does better in well drained soils. edit: someone else suggested mulch, that's a good idea too!
Amazing what one man can do. But two buckets with handles made of the bamboo twine would carry more water and carrying balanced weight is better on your back.
Hey brother man, if you cover your crops soil with mulch (4 inches deep of leaves and dry grass) you will never have to water ever. I teach bush gardening and bush tucker. I can tell by the forest plants around you, that you are in a high rainfall area, probably around 1500mm a year. I can tell by your heavy clay soil that you get a lot of rain and i can assure you, that 4 inches of mulch is easier to gather, than the effort required to construct this (albeit beautifully constructed) irrigation system. I have grown very large gardens with only a stick and seeds and all you need is mulch. Seeds in soil, cover with mulch and leave the rest to nature.
Very nice video however I have an idea on a slight improvement if you're interested. If you added a reservoir or tank to the feed or entry pipe you could fill the little tank to the brim and have it feed the pipes slowly. One daily water rather than intermittent top ups of your feed pipe. Great video however
does he have like a day job or something and then do this as a hobby? or is he just like super into nature and spends his days just hanging out making stuff. he must have some kind of income to get the cameras and stuff but who knows. very interesting love the videos
Yes thats POT people but also the most amazing plant. He can get oil, flour, cordage, medicine list goes on. Most powerful kings in primitive times had biggest hemp fields. Cant shoot a BOW or seal a ship whithout it.
i bet you will make everything beatiful and convenient in due time, like pavement etc. pls continue your good woork. im your fan and very much entertained.i know many things, i wont tell them.
as a plumber, i can see this as an amazing solution! also lets us know how far technology has come but seeing this primitive way to water multiple spots at the same time with about 0 effort makes me proud! also, is there not a way to transport water with heat? like, make a furnace deep into the ground, next to a river or pond. get a decently bent piece of bamboo, heat it up and the water would rise automatically? just a quick tought. might not work.
go into this a bit further, please. How would the water be efficiently condensed at the top? In a hot summer, you may not need heat, but you will need good condensing.
I'm bingewatching your videos the last two days . and every time i think , bamboo is a cheat . its usefull for everything ! also you should call youself the prehistoric engineer ^^
I wish this had subtitles telling us what is going on or, what stone/clay/dirt he was working with. Like the Primitive Technology Channel.

I was just thinking the same thing. It's the primitive equivalent of pvc pipe.
Bamboo shoots with garlic, chili oil, mushrooms and oregano. Salivating just thinking about it.
Well be cause of Haters i Guess
Ahh... whoops umm wrong comment..
Bamboo is such an awesome resource.
Bamboo and these huge palm leaves are the ductape and zipties of primitive survival
Yeah, I wish I had it around my area
In China they use bamboo as their stilts for building buildings
It's almost like having a cheat enabled in the primitive-tech game. Saves all the process of having to make clay or tin piping to achieve the same.
pauljs75 Yeah but they do also have to knock all the inside bits out, bamboo is at least 10x faster 😂
One thing I like about this guy, when he do something he always do it with patient n neat.👍👍👍👍👍

Thank u for this wonderful idea.. Keep it up..
Amazing. Nature gives so much we can utilize. Primitve life wasn't so primitive at all.
يسعد جوك يافنان 👍😍
These videos are fun to watch, I love watching these when I get bored.
I'm exhausted just watching this guy at work!
now that your plants are growing you need more leaves on them as mulch, clean your paths and much your beds heavy it will help keep the plants wet
👏👏👏👏👏👏👏Uoooowwwww !!! Thiago from Brazil !!!
Great video!
Awesome. Now to have a water fountain, water falls, water pond and aeration for a fish pond and having aquaponics, and fisheries.
i thought the same but personally i think he is storing them to eat like a fridge could be wrong
Huge like

You should make a little reservoir, with a little water wheel that when spun, brings water to the top of the sprinkler thing
