I believe the kiln was only meant for the short term so that he could create the oven. In his older videos he has done the same thing. I found this channel 3 years ago and love it completely.
The base of the kiln where the majority of heat stays should be at least 2x as thick to prevent cracking and increase longevity. You could also use ancient cement you make for a sealing and insulation layer on outside. I believe that I have been thoroughly inspired to go source some clay and limestone to build a nice forge and pottery kiln. I love watching your videos. I always watch them first when they appear in my feed.
The base of the oven is so level! Using a simple board to check the level and angle of the stone is so practical, but I would never have thought of it.
I dont think he made it. Most of the these types of channels shows the process of how you would do it with the tools that they made. But after they would use more modern tools to get the project finished in a timely fashion. If they used the tools they have. It would take 3-5 times longer to do anything.
With a chimney just immediately after the door (between the door, and the dome of the oven so that it is understood) the smoke is prevented from returning and not from in the face. In addition, the mouth of the oven is prevented from turning black.

Anyone can do it. Just know what you want to make and use what you have around you. In the game of survival there are no rules, building codes or people to tell you not to get dirty or try a new thing. I went in my backyard and started cutting a tree down. Had no plan, just wanted to see where the mood took me. Next thing I know I made a firepit to burn the wood and expanded my patio to meet it, planed some boards out of the trunk and made a bench to sit on.
Is there a way to build a hut with under ground heating. Have a fire that leads under ground threw bamboo with rocks over the bamboo covered in dirt. Have a chimney that you open to start the fire. Then close it off and use a pump to push the air threw the pipes. Have multiple chimneys on the other side that go up above the hut. If you want heat close 1st chimney and pump air in it should keep going.
Wow. This young man shows, if you want it bad enough, and work smart at it, you can have it. Nice job. Slaking the burnt quick lime to hydrated lime was interesting. Bet your hands took some abuse. Take care.

It doesn't require one, you burn wood then when it's hot you remove the leftover charcoal and clean the dust with a wet rag, you close the door again to regulate the heat and the put whatever you want to cook inside. These ovens don't use flame to cook but residual heat. Hence if you put a chimney it will lose the heat really quick and you would not be able to cook anything.
@@SirHarry A chimney allows you to better control the air flow while the oven is heating. It prevents it from exiting through the same entry point and makes the temperature reach even faster. The oven with the fireplace works the same, as you describe. A register is placed in the chimneys that allows to control the opening and pressure of air that can come out. When you take out the embers, the outlets are closed, the heat is locked in.
The outer walls of the oven are perfectly functional but are you concerned that it might burn a hole through the base as it is sitting ontop of logs covered in a thin layer of dirt? Otherwise excellent video, always look forwards to these!
There was no clay on the base of the oven, but the packed earth base should protect the logs. Dirt is a really good insulator, and wood doesn't spontaneously combust until it hits REALLY high temperatures.
