    We went through one of those before. You definitely have to be firm with your “no”. It’s so manipulative & feels exploitative

      It definitely does feel manipulative and exploitative! It literally needs to be a no, goodbye and leave.

    I've been to a timeshare presentation before, but I didn't even know I was going on one. I paid full price for my vacay and then when we checked in they were like "your tour of the property is at XX time" and I thought that would be cool for my RUclips channel so I went. They were like "where's your husband, did you bring a credit card, we can't start the tour until you confirm you have a credit card..." Interesting to hear your experience and with the pressure and the fast talking. I guess there are some good things about a time share but the costs and different rules are just not for me!

    • @KitatheExplorer
      @KitatheExplorer  2 месяца назад

      Oh wow! Now that is interesting that they sprung the presentation on you upon checkin. And I had the same thought that oh this would be cool for the RUclips channel yet I got nothing from it in that standpoint well except to share my experience.

    Yeah, you’re like me. I’m one of those people that I need to sit down crunch the numbers think about it talk to my financial planner, etc. and they work hard to keep you away from doing any of that. I had to straight up tell them; “I am not an impulse buyer!” It took me a good nine months to research and decide what car I wanted to purchase and the timeshare cost just as much as a car. So a timeshare is not a decision I’m going to make in just a couple of hours.

    • @KitatheExplorer
      @KitatheExplorer  2 месяца назад

      And this is something that you should impulse buy on. The timeshare presentations are definitely not for us who plan. Thanks for watching.

    I can appreciate the time share resorts for how amazing stays they can be. But, the rules for timeshares when you buy them. How much of sharks they are when they are trying to re-up you. Hell you could have just bought a new contract your last visit and the next visit they'll try again to get you to go to the presentations and get you to buy even more.

    • @KitatheExplorer
      @KitatheExplorer  2 месяца назад

      Yeah they are definitely sharks when it comes to time share presentations. But I do know people who have time shares and love it. It really depends on the type of traveler you are.

      Unfortunately in the US we have a lot of mass shootings which have been at places like schools, churches, grocery stores, etc. I have fortunately never ran into an incident but it happens too frequently to not be a concern. When I travel solo to other countries, that’s something I don’t have to worry about as much.

    When I take a vacation I just plan it out myself. When I go somewhere I just make a reservation at some hotel or resort, pay for it and have fun. When I leave, that's the end of the transaction. Don't need a timeshare. 😂

    @kitatheexplorer So what do you think we would need to do to avoid going into the video room? I have a scheduled presentation during my stay in 2 weeks!! Do we go with “I feel pressured” with the first sales pitch??

    • @KitatheExplorer
      @KitatheExplorer  3 месяца назад

      I would get up say no firmly and start walking towards the exit calmly yet assertively. If you are going to the same location as I did, it is a walk back to the car but not that much to avoid being there for hours! Good luck and report back how it went for you!

      In my experiences, your stay is only contingent on you sitting through the meeting, not purchasing. I Am an actual owner. I do love it, but it isn't for everyone. You Are buying a home. However, not a home you can easily sell. A home in the sense that it comes with a deed and gets passed down to your children or whoever you want when you pass.
      I feel this was an amazing video. The information is unbiased and honest. I probably Did sign up because of the pressure. But I have enjoyed it now for 6 years and look forward to going multiple times each and every year. Great information. Thank you for your hard work in getting this out. Keep up the good work.

      Thank you for your response from a buyer's perspective! And I do believe there are great benefits with owning but I agree it isn't for everyone. And that is a good point, it is like buying a home but not as easy to sell. That is definitely good to point out. Thanks for watching!

      @KitatheExplorer  Месяц назад +1

      Yes, you can walk out of a timeshare presentation, but it could mean forfeiting any perks or offers associated with attending the presentation. It's essential to understand the terms and conditions before attending. So you will have to ask when you are signing up if you are able to do so.

    Take time to do the math. Always take time to do the math. The salespeople won't like it, but take time to do the math. I'm a CPA and before making any large purchase I take time to do the math. The problems most people have with timeshares are that they don't do the math, they don't have reasonably stable incomes that can support an annual maintenance fee payment for as long as they are physically able to travel, they refuse to read the voluminous material on how to use their purchase, and they don't realize how little the timeshare may be worth when they finally decide to sell it. Timeshares are a wonderful way to travel. The accommodation is, generally, far superior to what is available in a normal hotel, and the special deals are excellent. But you need to do the math.

    • @KitatheExplorer
      @KitatheExplorer  Месяц назад

      AGREED! Which is why this wasn’t for me! I like to sit down and budget my expenses long term to see if what I’m considering fits into my life at that moment. The way this is setup, they weren’t really allowing me to do what needed to be done. I highly recommend people to to do the math and know your numbers.

    *Never ever buy a timeshare* You can rent the same property at a fraction of the price. We have rented 2-3 bedrooms with 2 bathrooms for $100 per night. Many of these places are empty because they are rarely full to capacity.

      not all of them are a waste of time. im a golfer and went to a resort but wasnt going to play because the tee time was 235 bucks which wasnt worth it. they saw i was wearing a hat of a known golf brand so they said if i went to a presentation i would get a free round at said course. 3 hours to play a nice resort course for free sign me up. even threw in rental clubs.

    • @KitatheExplorer
      @KitatheExplorer  2 месяца назад +1

      I would be cautious about this as there is no way to confirm that the listing is legitimate in this case. Plus since timeshares are a form of equity you need to have a title/deed transfer. So I would definitely look into this more and ask the seller questions if interested in buying on eBay.
