Music on the radio might be corporate far more now, but there is sound cloud and many other platforms. In the 80s I had no way of listening to music from africa. I do now. There are FAR more musicians and better music, if you seek it out. Theres also plenty of "grassroots" series and movies out there, but again, if you are only watching the most popular shows like GoT then you wont likely come across them. You wanna know what grassroots is? Kickstarter and similar platforms. There are far more ways to get involved in grassroots orgs to supprt small time filmakers, artists, gamedevs etc then any time in history. (Im speaking from the perspective of someone from the usa btw) yes, things were "simpler" back then in a way, but that doesnt always mean better. Sure we didnt have the government and corporations tracking our every move to the extent we do now (thought still more than people seem to usually think they did) and we have other societal woes now. But there were other societal woes then, like dying from diseases that are easily curable now. Which reminds me of the phrase "make America great again". There were some great things America had decades and centuries ago that we dont have now, but If you are a woman, or you are non white, or you are not straight or you are not christian, then America has never been greater for you than it is now in those areas.
