Go with a Steve Morris Engine. Make it a collaboration make it a big video. Throw a big block that will make the tires disappear. Take the soft top off and make a removable hard top if it can be done. Love the videos of redoing cars from seeing what they started as to what you guys make them into is crazy.
Love working on the old easy stuff wish they still made them like this easy to work on like your dad said air, fuel and spark was so easy back then lol miss them days
Thumbs up and really appreciate that you read my comment. Anyway, I haven’t changed my mind and would prefer if you keep this classic all original. Now, I’ll keep watching this build as I have been watching you since your first episodes on the TV show
I just finished restoring a 64 convertible, I had a 64 hardtop I restored as well and both had the original drivetrain left in them and they drive like a dream. I think so many people have engine swapped these cars and probably realized it was a big mistake
You can get the sharpie marks off the paint by taking a dry erase marker, scribble over the sharpie and then wipe it off. It should take most of it off real easy.
Oh. I’d buy it in a heartbeat. I went through 3 different motors on my last build. Ended up with LS3 because it was easy. If you can find a Tritan V10. That would be bad ass.
I understand what your dad wants to do but that convertible is so cool they’re rare and I know you and your dad could figure something out with that convertible. I see you guys keep it.
In the late 60's I worked in a Buick and Pontiac garage Seeing that old distributor reminded me of setting point dwell and gap and finally timing. In those days some engines routed some of the exhaust under the carb for faster warm up. Dad was the service manager. A customer came in and claimed one side of his v-8 was running faster than the other side because there was more exhaust on one side. I had to run to the back of the parts dept so the customer could not see laughing. I am not a Ford guy but what about a 7.3 Godzilla?
The early sixties Continental's are magnificent machines but the power top mechanism is as complicated as the 57 - 59 Ford Skyliner!! Miles of vacuum lines as well!!! I hope you get it restored!!! 👍👍🎄
Like #909. Haven't been getting notifications and I loved seeing you and Dad working on this classy beefeater together. Good stuff, bub. I let Shawn know that I'm not at the car wash anymore - it got acquired by a multinational corp. Life goes on, yes? Take care and Merry Christmas to you and yours. Peace.
Keep the vert for the window drops and glass and do a B pillar delete on the hard top of you go that route. Oh and Fords Godzilla engine swap would be top notch.
I think your issues are still in the carb but im on board with selling it and getting a hard top. you guys can definitely turn a profit on that bad boy to!
Hey Brad, it sounds like you have a bad coil. A bad coil will allow the car to start then progressively run worse as the coil get hot. Change the coil and try it again.
Honestly man that’s an iconic car being a 4-door convertible and a rarer color as most were black with a hard top so don’t ruin it and turn it into a hard top! Also it’s never going to be a drag car or something that handles great, it’s a cruiser so just improve on that. All that being said just clean up and restore what’s there. As far as the engine I would stick with a Ford, Coyote 5.0’s are cool, especially turbo’d or with a blower but that swap has been done many times just like the LS (I’ve done several myself of both.) besides that’s a big heavy car which needs torque more than HP but obviously you would want both. I would say do something cool and different like a Ford Powerstroke 6.0, 7.3, or a 6.7 Diesel. Especially since the majority of diesel swaps are always the Cummins (which I guess would at least be cooler than another coyote or LS) Maybe something Close to 1000ft lbs of torque with 5-700hp would be sick! Anything over 500 for HP and torque in that will be more than satisfying. Hell even the new for Godzilla would be cool to see as no one’s doing much with those. I’ve seen a couple N/A Godzilla swaps and twin turbo but nothing with a blowe! Screw blower like whipple would be sick and my first choice for instant power then either a roots or Procharger. I know you guys love your “Twin Turbos” (ya I’ve been following you two since the very beginning) as you guys are just like and remind me of me and my dad working on car’s, boats, motorcycles, ATV’s jet ski’s, snowmobile’s. ALSO keep those wheels as they are sick and compliment that car, they just seem to match and go with the car very well so I would do what you can to make them work, plus you already have them! Work with what you got, improve it and do something cool and DIFFERENT with the engine. I promise that’s what your viewers want to see, something different that hasn’t been seen or done before! And don’t make it obnoxiously loud or out the diesel stack exhaust through the hood. Make it look stock and original with those dope wheels, lowered, nice breaks and either a stout yet somewhat quiet diesel or blown Godzilla so you guys can cruise and actually drive it around instead of making a hot wheels car that can’t be driven and enjoyed as it’s too loud, uncomfortable or untreatable. Oh and Yes I’m talking from experience as I’ve done all those things and made all those mistakes. For example I built and restored a 69 Camaro with my dad which was a fun experience and even though we did an LS7 427 with a blower (which hadn’t been done at that time) it was still just another restored 69 Camaro. We’re doing an 87 Buick Grand National right now which will look stock but with upgraded suspension, brakes and a custom billet copy of the Buick GNX wheels but in an 18in (most likely) maybe a 17. Then under the hood we had a billet 6 cylinder Buick block and heads made so we can jangle a lot more boost with the bigger turbo and fuel system. So it will appear almost stock from the outside but only the true car guys will notice the bigger replica of the original wheels and slightly lowered stance. Under the hood will be the same, appearing original as we can and everything in the same location just with some upgraded modern components. Finally something different at a car show. Either way no matter what you do, have fun and enjoy the time with your Dad as that’s the one thing none of us can ever beat or get more of, TIME!!!
Ya you’re totally right. Guess that’s why they had 2 failed TV shows that only made it 1 season each. Especially when there’s been so many Terrible automotive TV shows that have made it (Bitchin rides, graveyard cars etc.) I like Brad and his dad but unfortunately they have no clue what people want to see! They already ruined the Lincoln anyway! He posted a picture of it with a wide body kit as if we’re back in 2001 and everyone’s trying to make their car a version of the Fast and Furious. Too bad. Just gonna be another Hot wheels car that came to life and nobody wants too see. Maybe Brad should start reading all the comments instead of asking what people want to see and then not listening and doing something stupid instead (maybe his dad has all the creative control and clearly he has No clue what people want to see) which is why they’re RUclips channel is going to end up exactly like “twin turbos and spoiled up” 👎🏻
Bud, id love to hear all that you have accomplished in life!? really. why so negative? People come on here with great attitudes and give awesome ideas then there's people that are either jelious or just board that say bad things about who they follow? I mean, why follow something you don't like in the first place?? If anything try and be considerate and say nothing over saying negative stuff? everything I've done has been the best experience and led into funner opportunities, especially tv shows, racing everything and working to make things happen. Hoping you a well future and a better attitude in life and maybe you'll be happier with yourself. Put your energy into you and the people you love, maybe even start a channel of your own
Take the valve covers off. Sounds like you have a bent rod. Maybe even bad lifter. The timing on those were known for breaking apart because they’re not metal. You’ll know once you pull the oil pan. But to do that you’ll have to life the engine slightly. Best of luck fellas.
Those Lincoln's were notorious for carb & vacuum issues. There is a reason there are people who "Specialize" in Lincoln's because of all those vacuum lines. If you're going to keep it original I'd del out a Lincoln Specialist, if not, Coyote Swap!!!
@@DeBerti..... The hard part is figuring out what doesn't work off vacuum on those damn things! Just one more thing that burned me on Furds a long time ago!
My dad had one. It was terrible for vacuum leaks. It was too many hoses. They were getting old and cracked. Pull that motor out of there. Do you not get rid of that car? I’m telling ya you’ll never find another one the same that’s a diamond in the rough. Put a coyote in it TwinTurbo keep it all under the hood. You don’t have to do a lot to make that car look gorgeous. Do you guys know what you’re doing to that Continental, right it deserves it.
What a beautiful machine! Don't get rid of it. If you're going to do a resto, keep the engine and good luck with that temperamental bitch. If it's gonna be a show car, just put a beast of an engine in it, supercharged, the works. Can't wait to see the end result. Cheers from Oz.👍🇭🇲
I would get a hard top and put a built 7.3 godzilla with a Whipple 6th Gen supercharger... bagged with some black steel wheels slammed on the frame... black on black on black... would be sick in my opinion
There’s not much of a top there to begin with. I’d say keep the car. Make a mold for a fiberglass removable top so it’s both. And then just go crazy from there
Is that an old 430 ci or 462 ci engine? Those are super rare and the engine should be kept in the car. Please don't make it a joke by installing any other engine. Restore it as it should be.
LEAVE THE OUTSIDE ALONE just a new top, clean & paint the engine bay and under carriage. N/A coyote swap, update the drivetrain and suspension including OE style 18” or ? wheels (just not rubber bands for tires). Please just a clean cruiser w/ patina maybe super detail everything but no new body paint! The patina is just so perfect on the car!
Quit screwing around and restomod that thing. And absolutely not with the hardtop. Picture running that thing with the top down. And as much as I'd hate to see another black and red vehicle.... picture that thing with an eggshell black and red pinstripes..... just ask John F. Kennedy.. the convertible will blow your mind.
@DeBerti we all know who's buttering the bread on the Deberti ranch, can't wait to see the convertible lol and as for engine, but a big block ford with a blower , like the one emlia put in her mustang.
IF we change the motor... what do we go with??
Rebuild what you have.
Coyote
632 big block
Have to go with a coyote, and route the turbo inlets to run through your high beams like on a challenger, just an idea😅
I would either rebuild what’s in it or I think a diesel swap would be sick
Your so lucky to have good time like this with your dad. Cherish these times
thank you, i do have a lot of fun with him

Imagine cramming a 7.3 godzilla into this beauty
Knowing you guys that car won't be a bad car for ever. I vote that you fix it up.
Time to adjust those valves or the lifters are done for, also check timing definitely
This is what we were talking about after we filmed this, giving it a full tune up
Sounds like a collapse lifter or stuck valve. Smoking probably valve stem seal.
You can get the sharpie marks off the paint by taking a dry erase marker, scribble over the sharpie and then wipe it off. It should take most of it off real easy.
Make it a removable hard top. Fab a hardtop for the car. Best of both worlds!
The sound and smoke reminds me of Christine’s first visit to Darnell’s wrecking yard lol
You guys should totally rebuild the old girl that's an awesome old car
Oh. I’d buy it in a heartbeat. I went through 3 different motors on my last build. Ended up with LS3 because it was easy. If you can find a Tritan V10. That would be bad ass.

Episode was great. Love watching this kind of stuff
Y’all should keep the car and resort it to be a classic car. Make it a father and son project for the memories
I really like the convertible idea put a godzilla motor in it
I want to keep it convertible but pops is on a different mindset

Heck yea back to the lincon
You guys are fab guys, just custom make a removable hard top? I bet you guys can make a super custom one
Need to run some marvel mystery in the engine. Also check the oil and maybe put some stp oil treatment in there
Can I suggest ya do both, over the top twin turbo coyote hardtop and a sic lowrider/hopper/DUB/restomod 🤔✅👍🆗😎

You may need to check the fuel pump. Where are you? Lines could be clogged from the gas tank.

The biggest Ford crate engine you can find
Steve Morris engine in the Lincoln.
Cool video yall lol take care be safe 🙏
Hardtop 👍
Make that Lincoln into a old school Nascar race car since you live in Nascar Country
First to do is get an electronic distributor and coil. I got rid of points in all my old builds. Grab a 650 Holley
Do a hard top and convertible making them twins. Nobody has ever done that.
I gotta agree with pops, sell it and get a hard top.

Build a hardtop… for the convertible.

Yo brother!!!
Sounds like it's not firing on all cylinders. And, or Timing.
LS swap and a new gas tank. That would fix all your problems.
Just slap a 600 holly on your good to go stock!!
What about a removable hardtop. That would be sick!
Big Engine block bra.come on
If you don't want to stay with original and yet keep the car a Coyote swap would be insane!
You didn’t get it to run and you got it to run so you can discuss what you needed to do to it now let you know what you need to do it do it!!!
I wonder if the ☣️ bio-hazard rim's will fit this car. And if u hotrod the motor go with a 3rd gen coyote 5.0 wipple supercharger
