As an ex liquor rep (14+ years) I can say there was a time when there was a decent chance of finding a high end Weller, a Stagg, or even a Pappy in a store. These were never in a stores main set, usually behind the counter or in the back for regular customers. There was nowhere near the demand that we see today and it was actually common to get a three bottle case of Pappy 10, sell 2 to the regulars and have one left in case someone asked. The rare bourbons are hit or miss and back then most bourbon drinkers were happy with a brand that was always available. Then someone wrote an article about rare small batch bourbons and the next thing you know here come the speculators. Remember, the suggested retail for any of the 5 BTAC bottles is $99.95 but that will vary because of state taxes. Right now Handy is the only one that is under a grand on the secondary market, the other 4 are easily north of a grand. As long as there are buyers that are willing to pay crazy money these prices will stay where they are. I know that is hardly fair to lifelong bourbon drinkers that aren’t burdened with too much money, which is most of us, but hopefully this won’t last forever.

I think the top 3 would be WLW, Jack Daniels Coy hill, and GTS 2022 lol
You two are so entertaining and this channel is so good. I always enjoy a new video and love the Pour Guesses series. But there can be no better tasting note, on this channel or any whiskey channel, in the near or distant future, that can ever compare or compete with "something yellow". If I had been unfortunate enough to have a mouthful of whiskey when those words of wisdom were spoken, I would have spit it all over my laptop screen!
I think it is also the single dumbest note to ever make a video on this channel
I had the option of this years GTS, ER17 and Handy. I'm very happy with my choice of GTS.
Bar pours. I love them for bottles I haven't tried, or bottles I have but haven't decided to open yet. BUT, the good ones, just make me want the bottle. Bar pours never blow me away like being able to sip an amazing bottle any time I want.
The 2022 GTS is so damn good, very close to the 2012 which up to this point was my favorite of the Stagg's I've tried. I really enjoyed the 2020 as well, but the 2022 reminds me more of the older releases. If this was the results of taking a year off from releasing GTS it was well worth the wait!

Just had this and WLW for the first time side by side a few days ago. Super interesting you got wheater vibes on the 2022 GTS because I did too. It was nearly impossible to say which I liked more. It took me nearly 2 hours to finish them because I just wanted to savor the experience.
Might get a bottle of George G Stag at some point, looks and sounds nice, great video as always guys, take care

The one an only time I tried George T Stagg was a 2012 bottle I tried in 2013. I did not care for it all that much. Not much flavor, just a massive burn. But, It didn't keep me from trying Stagg Jr when it was first released, which I loved immediately and continue to do so. After seeing you guys fawn over GTS, for a couple of years, as well as other folks, I am really interested in trying it again.
Had this for my birthday this year. I paid 100 for the pour but they did give a little over 2oz because it was my birthday.
It is the best one in several years for sure. Not sure if its better than those in the 05-09 range. It is fantastic.
I was lucky enough to get a bottle of George T Stagg about a decade ago. Best bourbon I’ve ever had. Still have the bottle with a wee bit of gold at the bottom. I still enjoy to sniff it once in a while.

We got a bottle of it at 32 at our bar and we pour 2 ounces. I was lucky enough to have worked the shifts that the bottle was around for lol
The spot by my house has George T for $70/2 oz pour and it was life changing
Fortunate up here in CA there’s a chain of restaurants that have 2oz BTAC pours for $30.

Darn - a bar near me has all of the 2022 BTAC and i was torn between this and the WLW, so I was excited to get some guidance at the end (if you like this, go WLW, if you like that, go GTS). Guess I'll have to flip a coin but at least I know both will be worth it!
honestly I don't think either is a wrong choice, they're some of the best whiskey I think released in 2022 that we had an opportunity to purchase.

Luckily I had this at the Louisville airport, first pour out of the bottle. First time having it and it was extremely impressive.

I paid $25 for a 1 1/2 ounce pour at a dive bar in Phoenix. The 2022 GTS. I thought he had made a mistake and he said no. It's in the system that way. Well three orders later I was a happy man. Then proceeded to come back a couple more times. I think I drank half of the bottle. Went back a couple weeks ago and it was gone. Sad but amazing experience since I've never even had any BTAC pour before.

Dang, I ponied up $60 for a shot in Nashville. I was really happy until the last sip...then sadness and darkness set in. I knew it would be a long time before I did anything so stupid and wonderful like that again.
While I try to accept the fact that I'll never even see a GTS bottle (I live in Canada), I keep wondering why you guy have 7 million Blue Run bottles on the set but have reviewed so few!

Do y’all do anything to preserve top tier bottles like this? Like using gas to get rid of oxygen? I’m just curious cus this would be a bottle I would want to last for a long time but I want sure how much oxygen would change it.
No, we held onto a 2019 stagg which was only 118 proof for a really long time and didn't notice any flavor degradation.
I just got this bottle today for $375. I hope it will be worth it.
The 2022 release is the best whiskey I have ever tasted.
I paid 40 for an oz and I don't regret it and instead I got a second one. This is a awesome pour. It was at a casino so I took my 100 in slot winnings to pay for this pour.

You are way off on your pricing though. I just saw this for $150 for a 2oz. Pour in Cleveland. I thankfully was given a glass by a very generous bourbon enthusiast.
That price is insane. Thats more than id pay for the whole bottle.
we have had people say they know places with pours from anywhere from $25 to 150, price is very variable

Not sure I wanna get a pour of this, I recently had a pour of Weller FP and just smelled it for like 15 minutes it seemed so good... Plus Dan saying "this is the most beautiful thing I've ever put in my mouth" is something you don't forget (and not in a good way), kinda like seeing Shawn with no shirt on...
Love my bottle, not sure how someone couldn’t love it. Came in second for me after Eagle Rare 17 for me in this years release. But definitely better than WLW this year! This years Handy though is 🔥

Good thing there are lots of whiskeys out there for the people who don’t love it. Leave this one for me. It’s easily one of the best whiskeys I have had.

That's an interesting take form the swirling thing, been to several distilleries now and a lot of master distillers swirl theirs. Would love to bend his ear on that one honestly

Yea sometimes it's just like that, I wouldn't be too upset at that price depending on the situation I got to have it in. We paid about 75 a pour for eagle rare 17 a few years back on my bachelor party. Was a little dive bar but with friends it was amazing

My daughter and I tried a pour of the latest CYPB last night and all I have is sweet, no finish. Nose was nice but sweet and Oak were the standouts! Not impressed! Not worth the price!

I’ve stopped chasing GTS, it fell off a cliff in terms of quality around 2015. Maybe its come back, IDK. The bourbon junkies sure make it sound like it, but whatever… its just whiskey. “Stop it, get some help!”

I don't get the excessive fawning over it. It has some good flavors but it drinks hot and lacks balance

GTS 2019 is still undoubtedly the BEST whiskey I’ve ever had. I’ve yet to experience anything melt through my palate more eloquently.
Forever grateful to my local whiskey bar selling me a 2oz pour for $30 as a congratulations for my college graduation.
