- Hello Everyone,
This is Part 2 of my Brembo BBK installation, where my wife aka Cameragirl, and I install calipers, rotors, brake lines, brake pads and bleed brakes. This is a full tutorial on how to DIY your own brakes even if you are just doing a brake pad service. I enjoy working on cars and also enjoy putting out content for you guys to view. If you have any questions please let me know in the comments and I will answer back asap. Thanks guys, please like and subscribe to support my channel and keep the videos coming. Big turbo upgrade in the works to achieve 600+ WHP still to come.

Can't believe there's finally a video for a m performance brake kit for the f30. No joke no videos existed before yours.
I know lol, I searched for information before I bought and only found a video where he started but never had a video to finish lol. Thanks for watching and very happy to help! 🙏
Man, I was just about to say the same thing!!!! Damn, thanks a lot man, I needed a video like this to decide myself
Awesome build! I was looking at upgrading to the BBK. Perfect DIY video
Thanks bro, glad you liked it will continue the content.
Fantastic job! I had same performance brake kit installed on my F31. It spent me about a day to install all four calipers and rotors. Your work is super clean!
Thank you, I appreciate it. 🙏
Watching this video, I exchanged the rotor and putt! Thank you! from Japan!
Thanks, watched this twice before I did i the 340/330 upgrade (from 312/300) on the F31. Despite having done a bazillion break jobs always good to get a virtual first hand view to make the job easier.
Thank you, glad it helped you out!
Thanks so much for this video. I have been waiting for a BMW big brake install video.
Thank you for the support and glad you liked the video!
The Wifes a keeper when she stops you from wrecking your day lol 👍. I got the same red kit put on my 440. I had the regular grey MSport P337A brakes and really felt the upgrade. On my alpine white 440 they really pop too.
btw Thic F30 sent me here and subscribed 🤟
Lol thank you for watching! And thank you too Thic!!
Great video man! I wish you a million subscribers. Congrats from russia 🇷🇺 lol even here I found your channel very informative cuz I have a g20 the same color as yours but it has pretty much the same iron inside and your channel will help me out with the new brakes and some other stuff THANX
Mr. Smirnoff, great to hear my friend, glad to have you here. Welcome and nice to meet you!
Liked for the camera girl save!
Nice videos! I ceramic coated mine the other day and will be installing them hopefully this coming week. I went with orange calipers (BSM paint).
Awesome let me know how it goes!
Very nice, getting mine this week
Nice! Your gonna love em
Great video thank you for being so informative
Thank you!
Nice work bro. Brakes look beautiful.
Thank you!
Hi bro, very good job, many thanks.
Hey man, thank you! Appreciate your support
Great video I just would wanna add, that if you take a broomstick or something like that to press the brake pedal while working on the brakes, the lines actually won't constantly leak while you're changing the calipers. And you don't necessarily need a bleeding system, just some help. Get someone to pump the brake pedal and have an eye on the reservoir. Also you should suck all the old brake fluid from the reservoir, fill it with new fluid and try to not only bleed the fluid til the air is out, but until the complete brake line will be filled with new fluid. That way you get the old fluid out that has collected water over time and isn't as heat resistant. No use in stainless braided lines and big brakes, of your fluid can't handle the temperature. But those are just some additions, you did a very nice job and it's a very informative video!
Oh and from guy who also has a mineral grey 335ix, I have to say those red brakes look phenomenal on your car! I kind of don't want to switch to red brakes because I had red ones on my previous car and I find it a bit standard but seeing this really makes me wonder if I'm just being stupid to not do this. Thing is: my rims are black chrome and I have purple lug nuts so I kind of wanted to do something crazy and get green calipers haha.
Thank you! Green calipers sounds cool lol
Good job man😎👍
Thanks bro
I had no idea this upgrade was so easy! Now I just need to save for the kit...
Yes sir!
Really great video. I'm planning on attempting this on my F31 in a couple weeks. Can you share out all the tools that you needed for the job? My buddy is going to help and has most of the stuff but I know I'll need to get some things.
Hey man thanks for watching, you mainly need a basic tool set like a craftsman for example... the only special tool is a power bleeder that is linked in part 2 of the M Performance video. Hope this helps!
Just an FYI, to remove the coating on the rotors I find it best to use CRC Brakleen® Brake Parts Cleaner rather then drive around and braking. Great job on video.
Thank you for the tip and I absolutely agree with the Barkleen I use it as well. In this case this coating was more of a paint than an oil so I wasn’t sure if it would work but was probably worth a try. Thank you again for the comment, very good info.
@@BOO5Tchannel After watching your video I'm thinking of buying the kit you did as it looks great and I'm sure the performance is much better than what comes stock for the 335i M Sport.
G Rexer27 love it, do it. On ebay they sell the blue pair for front for $1000, you can get 2 front rotors, and 4 new calipers any color yellow, orange, red or blue for $1700...
Nice video man, you got a keeper there that will spend time with you in the garage! What’s the brake fluid pump you got?
Thank you, she is! The power bleeder I use is by Motive on Amazon, here is the link Motive Products, European Power Brake Bleeder, 0100, Hand Pump Pressure Tank with Adapter www.amazon.com/dp/B0002KM5L0/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_c1rXEbFBMPFMS
Just an FYI, for the front brakes, you're supposed to bleed the outside first and then the inside. You got the order mixed up. Other than that, good job man.
Thank you for the info, I did end up doing outside then inside on the second bleed off camera to make sure. I could not find the information on that portion so I did it both ways. Thank you!
You should have gotten two piece discs too, the ones with Ali bells...
The red calipers are actually the same as the red ones as long as you are on same dia discs. The disc size is cast into the caliper.
Cool
Lol you look like a fun guy 👍🏻
Thanks 😊
Wow thank you very much for the video ! I'm thinking about this upgrade on my M140I, I guess it is the same process, but how is this upgrade without the remap ? Thanks again ! Best wishes
Hello and thanks, I did get a guy to code it in for $100 via remote coding.
@@BOO5Tchannel Thanks for your answer, I'm checking this out !
Just a quick one
Just seen that your disc dimple and groves face toward the cailpers on one side and different the other side ????? Is that right as wouldn't they be working different ways
But love your vids keep them coming
Yes lol they sent 2 of the same but worked and didn’t want to go through that whole process
Great video! Do the rears have to be coded since the rotors are larger?
I did not have to code anything and works great. Thank you for watching!
cool video, shouldn't the new brake system be coded to the car so that the car and the cruise control were told that a bigger brake kit has been added?💪🏼💪🏼
Works with or without because the brakes are exact same size only thing bigger is the rotors, however I did code them and noticed no change lol
Hey Man,
Great video. Did you leave the rear breaking plate and not replace it? i have a 335i gt xidrive and they are doing my brakes today but will not be swapping out with the new braking plate because they said new bearings would be needed which is 1k more. Not sure if this effects anything. Best.
Hey, not sure what they mean, if your talking about the dust shield bearing has nothing to do with it...
hey man, great video! However, I was under the impression that more than the backplate of the brake pad needed lubricant (i.e. pins and caliper abutment). Can you help clear up the confusion??
Yes you can lube all parts that have movement on them really, I generally do lube the pins as well
@@BOO5Tchannel Thanks! Hope you keep the content coming
Great video! I just had mine installed. Does the filling in the drills disappear over time?
Not sure exactly what you mean?
@@BOO5Tchannel I mean when the discs are new the drillings and slots are not open. Not fully pierced. Does that happen after a certain brake in period?
@@eg000ja that’s how these are they are not drilled they are dimples, will not change
Can you please tell anything about performance of the new brakes? Is there any positive difference between the old and new kit? Thank you in advance
To be honest, it’s same as M Sport just bigger rotors. Thank you for the support my Russian brother!
Hey 👋 question I have a bmw 428i 2016 and I just brought the m performance calipers but I wanna change the rotors as well but I don’t know what rotors I need for my car and for the m performance calipers.Right now I have the regular calipers. I hope you can help me 🙏
Hello, the links to the rotors and everything I used is on the video description. I have 2 videos part 1 and 2 you will find them there. Thanks for watching!
Only thing I think you missed here is properly cleaning the hub faces before installing the new discs - or rotors as you call them. If not properly cleaned you are almost guaranteed to get disc run out and/or juddering.
Thanks for the tip, I actually cleaned them with brakeclean before even making the video but never recorded it. Thanks!
@@BOO5Tchannel
It's always a good idea to use a wire brush to thoroughly remove any traces of rust from the hub faces - I use a wirebrush attached to a drill - quick and easy
Christo Joubert 👍🏻
Hello, my inquiry regarding the discs, why does not each side have the same direction that is drawn on the discs because I noticed that the direction of drawing on the discs on the left side is opposite to the direction of drawing on the discs on the right side. On the discs on the right side, it indicates that the direction of rotation is with the hands of the clock, so why is the drawing on the discs on the left side not indicating the opposite of the rotation of the hands of the clock until it becomes in line with each other on each side
They sent 2 same side so instead of making a fuss I sent it, sometimes you just gotta go with the flow bro
Just wondering if you also get the ticking noise when driving everyone talks? It gets slightly louder when you start to apply the brakes. Some think it's the dimples, but I'm not so certain about that, but I definitely hear it.
Hello, I do not hear any ticks to be honest. Maybe it’s certain pads? Thanks for watching
@@BOO5Tchannel This is not my car, but I have the same ticking noise while driving. ruclips.net/video/92p1x2I682w/видео.html and ruclips.net/video/E-6GJxDwRRA/видео.html
Oscar Castillo weird I do not think mine does but now you have me wondering...
@@BOO5Tchannel It's most audible when there's a wall to reflect the sound back to you, but it comes from either side, maybe even all four corners. Not audible under 25mph. I think also a louder than stock exhaust might drown it out.
Thank you for sharing
Absolutely thank you!
I had a question doesn’t the front brake disc have to be perforated I’m looking to change my brake disc and brake pads but I’m wondering why my front brake disc are perforated and rear are not I have a video on my channel
Not sure but you can try Bimmerpost they have a lot of talk on brakes for each type of car.
Can I upgrade standard brakes to M sport calipers on a basic F30 328i xdrive with 17 inch stock bmw rims?
I believe so but check the forums and groups to double check I’ve not delt with 328 before
What size are your rotors? I heard a 370mm can't clear a 17" wheel (my winter setup) but a 345mm can?
I am not sure if this but my 19” wheels cleared the 370mm I can’t imagine the 17” would even clear the caliper
I was expecting to see 6 pistons and 4 pistons🤣
Also, it looks like the old back plate is actually 2cm bigger🤷🏻♂️!
Are those zimmermann rotors?
Hello, no the rotors are from bmw oem m performance
Hey man got the same setup done to my f36 but ive got an issue with it and i’ts an ticking sound
Nothing to worry about it’s the dimples that make that noise
Hello, I had a question are these discs really not directional? In the sense that the disc that is installed on the right side can fit on the left side and vice versa, and how that will happen, there will be something wrong because one side will be opposite to the other in shape, and this is a fatal mistake
They are directional they just sent me 2 of the same side but by no means fatal they are still operational
Could you update the break kit list you used?
updated, the price was raised so that is probably why listing is gone
What size rims will fit these offset and diameter and width???
Minimum is 18” the rest I would not know past what I had which are the m3 wheels or the vmr et37 et45
I may have missed it, but why didn’t you swap out the rear dust shields? I am having issues with the ones that were included in the kit and can’t figure why the hub opening is a half inch smaller.
Kept oem rears I believe
@@BOO5Tchannel Crazy thing is, the shields suplied in the kit dont fit the hub without making modification. The OEMs had an inside opening diameter of 4.5" and the kit supplied shileds have a 4" opening. All parts numbers have been verified the correct ones for my '14 335i. I would reuse the originals but they were so corroded and brittle they borke into pieces. I have scoured the internet and youtube and have not found 1 person that addresses the rear shields.
@@matthewshearer4340 just buy oem from ecs
Did you just rip the sensor out of the inside of the brake piece I’m changing mine and not sure how to get it out lol should I just rip since it’s going in a new place
No it comes off if you pry with screwdriver
@@BOO5Tchannel thanks bro I just finished front brakes so smooth just waiting on back rotors . It’s sucks the package only comes with front
Nice video but the new rotors is the same to the olds , the difference is the color
You mean calipers? Yes I know I explained that in video
Thanks, I have an inquiry about the new brake discs used with the red caliper for the front. Was it possible to use the same( blue) calipe on the new brake disc? Is the new front brake disc dimensions 370 x 30mm?
Hello, yes red and blue are same calipers, only difference is color

Bead blasting and then powder coating your old calipers would’ve been way cheaper, $2000 just to change colors is a bit steep. Your old blue calipers are the same, just blue...
Hey, thanks for the comment. So I priced blasting and coating and it would of been around 500-700, if you add in the rotor set I would of been around $1200. My front calipers where not in great condition so I did well after selling my calipers for $750 on ebay. Thank you for watching the video I appreciate the support.
Chris Ciuc your video was definitely well done and very nicely put together. But I believe you got quoted a little too high on the blast and powder coat. I’ve had some parts powder coated by a local company and his rates are very good and has access to a plethora of colors, would allow you to get very unique.
I ended up calling quite a few in my area, most wanted 250 a pair and up so 500+. Definitely looked into it but overall went with new. So 500 minimum for coating, about 500-750 for good rotors and I was at 1250. Paid about 2k for new and got 750 back in my calipers and selling rotors soon. So overall not too bad, I do agree with you however, could of went with any color and been quite happy that route too. Thank you for your comment I appreciate you.
