i'm in my early 30's just getting back into guitar after not playing for about 10 years. In the short time i have been subscribed to your channel, it has already proven to be such a useful resource in getting my chops back up and even learning some new tricks and techniques. you have such a chill & direct approach to teaching while still being detailed and informative. really happy i subscribed
Hey Evgeny, I’m so glad you’re taking the time to watch my stuff and in return work on your playing. Comments like this make me want to keep going, cheers
damn same case like me
@@saverobahael same here as well (although I started to come back to guitar a couple years ago, I did have a very long break). I also initially picked up guitar back in the day to learn Chili Peppers’ songs, so I’m very much new to learning modern metal. Keyan is a huge inspiration with these big chords and bouncy riffs! Glad he’s using Riff Hard and studying John Browne’s work… that’s where I’m focusing my energy these days and seeing incremental improvements and small wins every day. Good luck getting back into it! The journey is so much fun!
oh mate in 43 , kids wife etc , getting back to playing guitar after years , same than you glad i found this channel!
every single modern metal riff i hear in my ears is just derived from Pale Aura. Definitely not a bad thing, but it just comes to show how people like Mark set trends and these them don’t change. Great vid :)
Thanks for watching guys! If you have any questions on anything you see or hear, comment it! Don't forget to vote and help your favourite entry to win a brand new Mayones guitar! Link in the description
Which drop tune u usualy use to use ?...even in your this lesson video which one you have used...?
M8 I’ve been going deep on your tutorials and in just a couple days you got me better then in my last year of time. You really make theory make sense. Thank you and thank you Phrygian mode 🙏
I ran into you on a post regarding baritones. Looked you up and I’m glad I did. There’s a lot of us 40 something-year-old‘s that grew up playing Metallica and Slayer and Black Sabbath that got stuck playing power chords for creating riffs. This was good for me. I already have the skills to implement these ideas. Thanks for helping.
This is such a great helpful video, thanks for this Keyan
Dude you are like teaching everyone everything and this lockdown put everyone inside their home and practice more guitar, will revolutionize the metal community to super talented musicians.
Amazing job as always dude
👊🏻😎
Love your tone man!
Dayum dude you opened up my eyes in a way I didn't know I was into these kind of songs I'm a 80s 90s thrash kind of guy appreciate your playing
Thanks a lot man, from the bottom of my heart, for being that "teacher" every guitarist should have !
Glad you found this informative
One of the coolest videos I have ever viewed on RUclips. Very nice work.
Thanks man, glad you liked it
This is some good advice, I'm gonna try some of this stuff in Em today and get back with my experience!
This was fantastic man, cheers
Thanks!
Thanks bro, very helpful. 🤘
Thank you so much for this! I've been stuck in a rut for quite too long and my riffs are all aging. I've been looking for some content like this and I cant express enough how thankful i am that i came across your video. I cant wait to go home and try and practice this lesson. Again, Thank you so much! God Bless you mr!
thanks dude! I'm glad this video can get you out of the rut. There's nothing worse than being in a creative rut, hope it turned out great!
@@KeyanHoushmandLive It really helped me a lot, I learned to get out of my comfort zone and try new things. I'll keep an eye on your next videos for sure, Much love from Philippines!
That was pretty awesome!
This is very I built the sky esque, love it.
This riff is sick man! 🤟
Excelente , tremendo el riff, muy bueno que compartas esto . es una armonia buenisima gracias . muy bueno el canal
Great content bro!! I see a lot of Mark Holcomb / Periphery reference!! Good stuff!
As a newbie in this genre I've to say......this video inspired me a lot !! Thx mate
excellent video, thanks so much for sharing how make these riffs
No worries
You create the mind of metal ive been narrowing in to. Would love a real breakdown, a how to play!
Dayum this was an amazing lesson.
I really like your content :-D. It doesn't really matter, that you don't understand that much about music theory as long as you hear and feel your stuff :-D. Great input!
great sounds
Thanks for tutorial dude🥂
9:05 - visual example of a dissonant eargasm
Lol
You got my vote
amazing advices, new sub man !
Thanks for subbing dude!
Whoa, an Aussie NOT using a Rode?! Never thought I'd see the day!
Great video man! :-D
Thanks dude!
WOW! That´s impressive!
Thanks!
Appreciate it...thanks 4 sharing...subbed
class video mate, could you make a video on how you choose melodies inbetween chords? like how you decide what notes will work based on what sound you're going for? thanks!
Going to be doing more lessons in time, in the meantime check out Joao's vid on riffing
2:30 when "4" matches his talking pitch perfectly
He talks in "4" the whole video haahahahah
@@adriangraven5433 😂😂😂
this is so usefull thnx a lot..
Thanks!
What the heck chord shapes are you using my guy? These chords are BEAUTIMOUS!!!
Not really my style, but I'm walking away with some fresh ideas. Kudos dude.
man, i've been here all day. this riff is FUCKIN hard 😂
I think we could be related 😂 great stuff man you’re like a much better version of myself
I felt that the empty space was embraced rather than elaborated, which I find disappointing accents to chords and distance can be helpful to break up the hard breaks, my opinion
Cool riff😉👍
Thanks Paul!
sound great
Thanks!
Make more tutorial on how to play modern guitar riffs like this...
The best tunning
good!
thsnk
Oh wow, this whole time I wasn’t even subscribed to your channel. Haha I’ve been watching your videos for months.
Milner-Skudder went from breaking ankles to breaking down riffs
Subbed!
idoll
The tapping at 5:25 sounds like fireflies YOU would not believe your eyes
Nice..I'm trying to compose a metal rythm piece that combines all genres
Well that was fast !
"I will have a hard time explaining it though" - a day before he explained it perfectly, damn
Perfectly might be a bit of an overstatement hahaha, thanks dude!
@@KeyanHoushmandLive As someone with 0 musical theory in the bag, the analogies worked really well to understand what was going on. I especially liked you referring to chords as a "2-chord" or "7-chord" that made a lot of sense while watching your hands move around. What's the tuning though ?
@@MrNiffers Tuning of the competition was in DADGAD
So much wow
Yep
The Happy frets on the guitar 1,3,5,7
Beethoven used the familiarity trick by returning to a theme with some variation through most of his work. Sounds like your in good company. :)
based and riff pilled
That Jackson looks noicceee
this is the best riff ever, u got my vote
Thanks man
Yo nice guitar mate
Thanks dude
Couldnt concentrate bc homebois eyebrows are fucking on fleek
Very cool riff, do you have a guitar pro part of this ?
to work hard and understand the rhythm
Great Job!! Do you have the tabs?
Great stuff man! Is the Tab for this riff on your patreon and web?
Hey dude, i’m trying to write riffs in this kind of style but i’m not really sure about those kind of runs 9:39, do i have to use the arpeggio of the chord(s) or just a pattern from the scale. It would help me a lot if you answered. Thanks for making this video
I have the same question
A mixture of both I would say, and just go for what sounds good to your ears
sounds like a Maj7 arpeggio
do you have a filter on the beginning of the first riff when its just one guitar? I am trying to learn how to do that whoooosh sound where its lofi one guitar and then its a whoooooooosh and everything else comes in
On the guitar it's an EQ that cuts off all the low and high end, the woosh is just a cymbal hit but reversed
Just found your channel and you're killin it! Did you end up winning the competition?
Thanks dude! Unfortunately not, but it’s in good hands with my good friend Joao Medeiros who has his own RUclips channel!
Too bad, your riff is sick!! I'll definitely take a look at Joao's channel
When I click to vote for you in the Qatsi contest, It says the page is not found. Need help.
BTW, You are awesome !!! Keep rockin !!!
Sound great.
Can i know your gear??
I have heaps of videos on the gear I use, check out my Periphery Tone Video
you said back to 4 referring to fret 4, but the chord was also 4 in the key :D
Sick video
Gotta ask tho do you fill your eyebrows in?
Nah bro I'm half Iranian half Italian I don't need to fill anything lol
@@KeyanHoushmandLive Fair play man :')
Anyways, your content and playing is sick asf - keep it up pal :)
I liked very good riff congratulations, which vst drumms do you use?
Thank you! I use GetGood Drums!
wow i didn't think DADGAD could djent
It definitely does!
What tuning do you use? drop C or drop D?
what song was that from the riff you showed at 0;53
Hey Keyan, do you have tabs for this song in your patreon?
How do you record you're guitar?
Hi which tuning do you use for your riffs?
wisj i could come up ewith cool notes and chords, im a powerchord head.
what guitar tuning do you use
How’d you get that tone?
what the tuning of this guitar ?
how do you get that wonderful tone, i'm so blown
most likely an axe fx ii. most guitar players use them nowadays
@@brihilist5236 he doesn't have an axe fx. He uses plug-ins
Where can I find your music?
What's the tuning???
link of the song played at the end of the tutorial?
It's on my channel under Riffhard competition entry!
@@KeyanHoushmandLive Epic track man. I am Inspired. waiting for more
Can you make a video on polyrhythm?
Maybe!
Hey dude, got any tabs or lessons helping with practicing such riffs? i have troubles playing melody and riffs together
Search Joao's Riff making video where he explains his riff. Should answer your question perfectly
@@KeyanHoushmandLive could you point me a bit more directly? either a link or a video name :) thanks in advance
@@alexmgebrishvili5747 ruclips.net/video/Fxs3cK0TOFY/видео.html a bit late haha

I'm a better guitar player BECAUSE of you. Thanks dawg.

This guy looks hella lot like that bishop from vikings
Full song please
I’ve been after an instructional vid on Tapping runs and how to construct them... anyone?

Digital
Where the fucc can i listen to this
