Very cool. Love these old Honda's. I have a 98 foreman 400fw with a blade & a winch. Beats the crap out of shoveling. It's totally stock with the original engine. Pretty good considering I live @ 7000ft so in the winter it works for a living 👍👍
Love all the comments about bad/no lighting 😂haha. Seriously people if your brain can't figure out what he was doing or even have a general idea of what was done/he was doing you have no business doing it lol😂 The plow was attached to the mount, he secured it, he attached a circle clip to the chain then to the manual lift lever bracket and that's it lol everything else you can SEE! Haters always have to be hating lol, this was a very good simple video but of course everyone has something to say and complain about. If this was 15-20 years ago no one would have anything to say but thanx man great video. Everyone now a days has no common sense or just expects everyone else to tell them/show them/ do for them instead of figuring it out/ doing it themselves.
Very nice machine I knew a guy who had two of these very great reliable ATVS I use to ride both of them all the time love your videos keep them coming GOD BLESS.
I had been using 1985 Honda Fourtrax 250 with a 48" Cycle Country manual lift plow since 2002. It did quite well, despite being 2WD. This year I upgraded to a 1996 Fourtrax 300 4x4 with Koplin High Rise tubes, my 48" CC blade, & a 2,500 lb. Warn winch. I have chains on the rear tires, & I add a bag or two of wood pellets on the rear rack when plowing. I am very happy with my new set up. In some ways, the manual lift was faster & easier to manipulate. If I need to push snow piles back, I will appreciate the extra control of the winch & the flexibility of the high-rise tubes. I really like these older Honda machines. My current set up attaches the same under the machine, but the winch hook just clips on. I wouldn't knock the manual lift, however. The blade needs to slide on its shoes to do a good job of clearing the snow.
Yea buddy, your gonna really like that set-up. You've moved into serious snow plowing now. You will crap when you see how much deep( and I mean a foot at least) of snow you can easily move. You'd like a winch lift though --I have an acreage 'cause we dairy farmed and kept our acreage so I need a lot of atv powered machines with no farm machinery now. I have (4) Kawasaki Bayou 300 4x4's . I have machinery and tools on every one. Damn cheap tractors to run instead of full size International regular tractors that's for sure!!! Have fun --good video !!
I had a old 3004trax, thing was a beast, 5 speed automatic clutch system, put 27” tires and a snorkel on it, it did good, sucked a shit load of water it many times and still ram like new. I remember once I left it outside for about 4 days I’m the sun and when I went to take the gas cap off it shot off 20 feet in and air! The tank built a ton of pressure sitting In the sun haha
So many people really used these machines. Probably be a good collector market for them in the near future. Last of the best before everything became huge and electronic.
I also have a 96 300 4 trax with exactly same setup i working it extremely hard by farming, hunting, ice fishing and snoplowing, and working the garden and still runs strong
We had a good amount of snow hit the Ozark mountains last winter. Was stuck at the house for a week and a half. Got my first taste of working a snow shovel ( 10"+ of snow is very rare here ). And I tell you what. I am sold on a snow plow for the 300 Four Trax lol
mines an '88. makes quick work of the snow but its so damn manual. the whole left side of my back was sore for two days after just an hour plowing snow and my left knee hurt that night from shifting gears. im definitely installing a winch by next winter and possibly trying out a different shifter peddle. i wouldnt call this atv perfect for plowing snow but it gets the job done. im definitely taking it with me to WY when i move there from WA. its too useful to let it go. ideally id prefer something bigger like 800cc with auto transmission and push button plow controls.
In it's day it was one of the biggest atvs you could get. One of things that make this quad great is that it is all manual. No fancy electronics that came on the next models. I have a similar problem with my knee when using an old ford tractor. Constantly pressing the clutch unlike modern tractors that can sit in gear.. Some of these big quads make it so easy to ride that it takes the fun out of it. No skill required.
Been plowing with my 07 420 for15 years.i leave the plow on for little jobs around the acreage. You get creative when you have it available. I also pull a wagon and use the $49 winch from harbor freight with a snatch block a lot. Super handy during garden season.
Never push snow with my atv but ride all winter lol . Wonder if had chains would help in heavy snow help keep from veer off as i seen on odd vid . The ol quad done good great video .
Chains might help. Whenever I get deeper snow I plan on plowing multiple times just so the pile isn't able to push me off to the side. Plowing on the very edges first helps. Then I have somewhere to put the snow from the middle of the driveway. Love riding in the snow.
I had a question about the diy skate bowl and thought it would be better to post here because you are more likely to see it. I am planning on building one soon and was wondering if there were any seams between the wooden pieces, and if so how did you deal with them
Building a bowl out of wood is extremely difficult. I made sure to keep all my seams to less than 1/8" I wanted a smooth ride and not have wheels catch. Definitely made it difficult to cut precise curves on both edges. Good luck building one. Send me pictures! Here's a link to the wooden skateboard bowl video ruclips.net/video/pJzPqK7elmQ/видео.html
Hi, how well does a little 300 4x4 do for plowing snow? I've been told by people you need at least a 600 to plow any snow over a couple inches, and I feel like that's not necessarily true. Looking at your video it looks like it does really well! Currently looking at a Bayou 300 4x4.
It works great. However you have to be ready for the snow. If you stay on top and plow every so many inches it is very easy. If you have a foot of light snow no problem. Wet heavy snow is another story and it won't push is. Reality I run out of traction before running out of power. A bigger quad won't help that very much. And it's fun... we had a blast on my buddy's bayou 220 as kids and would ride it with 7 people on it. Should work great for you.
Seth, if your looking at a Kawasaki Bayou 300 4X4 your looking at the best 4 wheeler ever made !!!!!!! You should read my other you-tube posts. I have (5) 300 4x4's . Ranging from a '94 to the last year they made one in 2004. My snow-bike is a 300 with a .30 over bored motor with balanced speed pro piston, off-road racing cam, Kolpin performance exhaust, re-jetted carberator, a 4" lift kit with bigger Mud Claw tires, chains in rear, and Dennis Kirk canvas cab with LED light bars front and rear. My plow is a 60" Moose plow with a 3500 lb. Warn front winch. She plows like a mother!!!!! My 2004 is a sprayer bike with a 20 gallon sprayer with a 48" rear boom. It also pulls my 52" atv mower made by Northern Tool that mows part of acreage. Other bikes do other chores. Now that I quit farming and sold machinery---these are my tractors. These 5-speed 4x4's are the BEST!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Jim
Nice job plowing, but with all those vehicles and trailers you have there, you could've lined them up in your driveway from your mailbox going to your house, then you just have to do your parking area, haha just joking, thanks for sharing 🤣
I only need to plow my driveway. The Jeeps stay parked all winter to keep the road salt off them. I have a plow for my old ford truck but it is a lot just to keep running. The Honda just fire it up and go.
I prefer to keep everything as light as possible. Much less wear and tear on every part. Engine has to work a lot harder "tough on main bearings" to get the extra weight moving. Adds a lot of pressure to axles and u joints. And it is harder to turn. I learned that from old tractors being all weighted down for traction. It will push better with weight though.
I need to get a plow it would make life a lot easier and I can help my elderly neighbor out clearing her driveway.
@@JakeRoy98 It's worth it. Comes in very handy. I was able to do several driveways in the neighborhood.

They sure don't make them like this anymore. Just the right size machine for almost everything.

Have you tried tire chains? They make a world of a difference, and are well worth the investment.
love it. my wife thinks its hard work. i look forward to snow. so much fun.
Perfect it gets you out of the house to have a little fun and you can look like a hero getting the driveway cleared.
Great ATV plowing👍
Greetings from Finland 😊
Hello and hopefully you are getting the snow this year! Very little here this year.

That works perfectly for plowing. I have to get one.

These machines are little beasts!

'88. sure is impressive how efficient it is.
@@_AndromedaGalaxy_ super quick and perfect for those annoying 2-4 inch storms. And fun at the same time.

I just picked up a quadzuki king quad 400 four-wheel drive and I just put a snow plow on it but I have no snow now up in Roy Washington
That's only because you are ready for it! It won't snow now. Enjoy

Thanks for the ride along. Your video really helped in my decision in purchasing a plow. Loved your video.
Glad to help. Definitely makes dealing with the snow fun. Good luck with your choice.
Putting a warn front mount plow on my Honda rancher 420 this year. Can’t wait to try it out!

i got a 93 but having trouble getting the back bracket hooked on for the plow.. i got a v plow for it
@@Victor-xb6ok This one uses u bolts on the frame to attach a mounting plate.
If ya start in the middle you can work both ways back and fourth! Not rocket science! But the most important way is to have fun 👍
Was out 2 days ago snowplowing with my atv, and wonder if I need to go out today too.
Nice long driveway you have there.
I was wondering the same thing. I think the long driveway makes it even more fun to have the atv for plowing. Nice and quick. Rather satisfying.
How cool I have an ATV just like urs I’m so getting one lol
They work very well!
plowing is by far faster than blowing. id seriously recommend a winch for the plow. my back was so sore from the lifting lever.
@@_AndromedaGalaxy_ I had one with a winch. Loved it. Very precise plow adjustment. And a little easier to lift.
Wow, 1999 Honda, a real work horse!
I have1998 Honda FourTrax 450 still going strong

On that model honda fourtrax it's all time 4x4

You need to get some sort of lighting for when you do work. half of the video of attaching your plow is total darkness............

I have a 96 300 4 trax If you mind me asking where did find your manual lift i do have a winch but the solid likes to act up all the time
I got lucky and it came on the machine when I bought it. I did like how precise using a winch was.
With a winch you can adjust blade better on gravel
Having one is real nice for the precision adjustment it gives you. Not bad manually picking up the blade at least.
Interesting but can't see what your doing. Good looking wheeler though.
Can you back drag a little bit with it?
You can a little but not much or you lose traction. Plow does like to float when backing up.
Nice job plowing, but with all those vehicles and trailers you have there, you could've lined them up in your driveway from your mailbox going to your house, then you just have to do your parking area, haha just joking, thanks for sharing 🤣
Hahaha That would probably keep the ice from building up!
how did you bolt the plow frame to the quad frame ???
Yes
Damn. Get some wheels or skids
I need to cut as far as the blade will otherwise the ice buildup on the driveway becomes too much.
You should have a plow for that old jeep that was parked there
I only need to plow my driveway. The Jeeps stay parked all winter to keep the road salt off them. I have a plow for my old ford truck but it is a lot just to keep running. The Honda just fire it up and go.
