With this CheatDevice i can now finally play GTA in peace without rage quitting and i can now finally play GTA 3 and even VC in peace with no wanted level bullshit, no getting busted, having Infinite Armor/Health, and plus no pedestrians treating me like crap or anything because i got SO sick of gangs always shooting me for no reason and i was always tired of the hostile behavior of NPC's in GTA games due to my PTSD, so this does help a lot.

Once you run FMCB, go to your mass drive and run the installer for the newer FMCB. I don't run newest FMCB because I have a modchip and it doesn't work for later versions.
Hmm. Need a more descriptive version of how to do this. You go too fast, and don't explain a few steps. A bit of a more descriptive video would be nice to those of us who aren't that tech savvy. I should also mention I use the SSD method to play my games, so, any tips or advice how to do it with that method would be appreciated. I know this video is two years old, and the last few videos I looked at of other youtubers haven't been of much help since they don't seem to want to respond to my questions or inquiries. I will admit the ps2 scene and how to do X task can be a bit complicated, because it requires some knowledge of how to get started in the first place. I think the first course of action is find out what is your PS2 model number, fat or slim, and if slim, is it a 9k model or lower mode. 9k models cannot use FMCB (free mcboot) which is a homebrew memory card. All fat and slim models under 9k can use FMCB. If you don't have FMCB, look up FreeDVDBoot and see if that can work with your system. If it does, then you can look up a follow up video on how to softmod your memory card to FMCB, and then from there run a program called OPL to play your PS2 games. It's a lot of detail to explain in a comment, but if you can tell me what is your PS2 model number, then I could try to come up with some kind of general video for 2023 that walks through minimum from A to Z.
I can't comment if it does or not, give it a try. For some reason I thought one of the cheat programs is not compatible with PAL, but I'm not entirely sure as I'm mainly a ntsc user.
Is the usb formatted as fat32? I have come to learn over the years certain usb drives are recognized and some just aren't, so not sure if that is the case here or not, sorry
@@ProjectPhoenixMedia They're both fat 32, but I found a workaround. I'm just going to use the small one to enter cheats, click start game, go to boot.boot.elf, back into Elf. Then enter the OPL loader from the memory card0 and then swap usb's with the one for my games so that the cheats I placed are still there.

FMCB should load independent of what home-brew programs are or are not installed. Get your FMCB working first, and then you can choose to copy the cheat device to the memory card, or to usb instead.
Hi, Vers! Love your tutorials on PS2. I watched like 50 of 'em, dusted off my baby, softmodded her, got tons of my fav games and got lots of great times. But I have this problem with double layer DVD's - for example with Yakuza 2, which is like 7,2 GB. When I'm in WinHiip and trying to add Yakuza 2 I get that "not enough space on the HDD error", which of course is not the case. I deleted like 6 games - no results. Maybe I should part the game with that USB app? Forget the name, USB Util or something... Haven't seen any tutorials on that case really, maybe you could do such and help resolve that problem? I suppose if you find a way to get a DVD5 version of that game and install it with WinHiip that may help, or consider usb route with usb util 2.0, or use a SMB tutorial. You know what? I'll try that "HDD Batch" first. I saw that a couple of days ago and the topic is kinda new - dude wrote that batch in 2019. He did a tutorial and says that it works great with everything including DL DVD's and 2 TB HDD's which was the main objective. It's easy, fast and eliminates some known errors from WinHiip or HD Dumper. Worth of checking! Love these homebrew apps, I'm hyped as hell! See you on the next one! 👊
is there any way to set this up so then when i boot into freemcboot it shows up in the same list the opl loader shows up in its a pain having to go into the file browser just to use cheats id rather the elf file load up to the home screen so i can launch it from there
You can setup in FMCB I believe like controller shortcuts so holding a button down on boot up loads a home-brew on demand. If not, then worst case ulaunchelf has this functionality too.

I would think once you use funtuna to boot into ulaunchelf, then navigate to your mc0 or mass and run the cheat device elf file. Make sure the database is there, and then its like my video I would think for rest of the process.
I don't know why it doesn't work. Using latest cheat device and assuming you got enough space to run the app and store the cheats, it should work. I will consider re-visiting this again for 2024

No, I don't have that kind of video. I believe it is the OPL daily build that has the app feature. If that is from ps2-home then I can't visit that site anymore, but I'm sure there are other videos online or google guides that show you how to setup ps2 apps. Once you understand the process, then cheat device should be no different from app shortcut standpoint. If it is making a shortcut from FMCB menu for example, then yes I have a video on that.

Simplest explanation: Do you have a way to boot into ulaunchelf? Then you can use the program to copy the Cheat Device file to the memory card. This assumes you have a mod chip or softmodded ps2 to do this function
@@ProjectPhoenixMedia Yeah, soo I have a FreeMcboot memory card, and of course ulaunchelf, but everytime I try to copy the file to the memcard from mass, only the name "cheatdevice" gets copied, but not all the files. Next thing I know is I'll just try then copy the CheatDevice. Elf file, and that works and paste in the memory card,.... But.... The CheatDataBase does not copy over to the memory card, soo when I load up the CheatDevice, it opens, but no cheats 🤔
Probably the only way to play the PS2 GTA games in peace these days without you wanting to rage quit or getting frustrated to the point of yelling at your TV or even worse breaking things out of anger. Like you don't know how many times the peds and AI in the PS2 GTA games has pissed me off so much such as being not being listened to or getting out of their car to beat you up just because you simply crashed into them (GTA SA), a pedestrian ignores me and still gets in the freaking Taxi all hijacked and scared no matter how many times i enter the damn Pedestrian enters vehicle cheat! 🤬 (GTA LCS & VCS), A cheat not being activated at all to where i don't see a "Cheat activated" message at all and i either throw my controller across the room or yell at my TV saying "ACTITTVATTE!!!!!!!!!" even when type a cheat slowly or i type too fast (All fucking GTA's), a parked car doesn't spawn and i have to drive back to the same place like 20+ times in a row just so a fucking vehicle will spawn (Happened to me frequently in GTA LCS and even in fucking 3!), a pedestrian runs away from me at random for NO fucking reason especially when i just drive up to them to fucking say hi! So yeah the PS2 CheatDevice is probably the only way to make GTA on PS2 treat you better/right by using Never wanted cheats, Infinite health and armor, Cops never arrest you, Gangs never shoot, Peds never get scared and follow me around, etc etc.

Not working with PAL. "The bundled cheat database is for NTSC-region games only..." edit: I got myself "Tekken 5 (USA) /ID SLUS_210.59". Then selected a few cheats, but in the game everything is on standart. Do you have to start the game through the program, or was it enough to activate the cheats?
So in order to add codes, what is this using? I tried adding Gameshark codes for Dragon Ball Z: Budokai Tenkaichi 3 (which wasn't even pre-loadedon the list) and either 1. It freezes the Cheat Device when trying to save or it never loads up the game.
I am trying to get it working on Burnout Revenge which I am playing through SMB on my PS2. Everything goes well until I boot up the game and notice that none of the cheats I enabled actually seem to be enabled. I am not sure what I should do as I do not know what the problem is. I did see that Burnout Revenge had some weird long name within CheatDevice, but I assume the names of the games in CheatDevice won't have to identically match those of my PS2 games I have working through SMB?
I downloaded it and did exactly what the video showed and I opened up cheat device to seeing nothing. I also have another problem with codebreaker too like the Cheats won’t work
I don't know why it doesn't show, I did make a usb follow up tutorial that bypasses black screen if that is what you have. Or try cheat device as alternative.
I haven't used this with that game specifically, not sure if that is a bug or if another work around. In general, I got this program to work with games running off of usb, so I think it should be fine too if a compatible game is running off of internal hdd.
My only problem is i cant add it to my home screen funtuna broweser cuz it has buncha files along side it dont know how to add it there so i wont ulaunch it everytime i want it

Dude there are some major games missing like God of war 2. And many useful cheats. When i tried to add game the entire cheat device games list was cut in half??
I don't know if I'm doing something wrong but when I try to load half-life cheats or any game for that matter or with cheats it just doesn't activate them it just plays the game normally from my USB
I don't know either if the cheats are looking for a specific game type or region? Oh well, at least you can play half life on pc and cheat there, right? Probably looks better and loads quicker too.
Is there a specific place this needs to be on the HDD? I have it with my other apps on it and it launches fine but none of the codes are there for games. If I launch it from my memory card or a USB device it works just fine.
I don't know off hand why it wouldn't work properly off the HDD assuming it has the database just like if running from memory card or usb. Not sure if that is a bug or requires a unique workaround for whatever reason. Maybe psx-place.com might have better idea as to what is going on

@SO10* yes. check if your usb device is GPT or MBR. It must to be MBR. And Drive Format must FAT32. MBR+FAT32 = no issues

@@ProjectPhoenixMedia Yeah, soo I have a FreeMcboot memory card, and of course ulaunchelf, but everytime I try to copy the file to the memcard from mass, only the name "cheatdevice" gets copied, but not all the files. Next thing I know is I'll just try then copy the CheatDevice. Elf file, and that works and paste in the memory card,.... But.... The CheatDataBase does not copy over to the memory card, soo when I load up the CheatDevice, it opens, but no cheats 🤔

Probably the only way to play the PS2 GTA games in peace these days without you wanting to rage quit or getting frustrated to the point of yelling at your TV or even worse breaking things out of anger. Like you don't know how many times the peds and AI in the PS2 GTA games has pissed me off so much such as being not being listened to or getting out of their car to beat you up just because you simply crashed into them (GTA SA), a pedestrian ignores me and still gets in the freaking Taxi all hijacked and scared no matter how many times i enter the damn Pedestrian enters vehicle cheat! 🤬 (GTA LCS & VCS), A cheat not being activated at all to where i don't see a "Cheat activated" message at all and i either throw my controller across the room or yell at my TV saying "ACTITTVATTE!!!!!!!!!" even when type a cheat slowly or i type too fast (All fucking GTA's), a parked car doesn't spawn and i have to drive back to the same place like 20+ times in a row just so a fucking vehicle will spawn (Happened to me frequently in GTA LCS and even in fucking 3!), a pedestrian runs away from me at random for NO fucking reason especially when i just drive up to them to fucking say hi! So yeah the PS2 CheatDevice is probably the only way to make GTA on PS2 treat you better/right by using Never wanted cheats, Infinite health and armor, Cops never arrest you, Gangs never shoot, Peds never get scared and follow me around, etc etc.

I got myself "Tekken 5 (USA) /ID SLUS_210.59". Then selected a few cheats, but in the game everything is on standart.
Do you have to start the game through the program, or was it enough to activate the cheats?
You need to activate the cheats and then start the game second. That is what I did

So in order to add codes, what is this using? I tried adding Gameshark codes for Dragon Ball Z: Budokai Tenkaichi 3 (which wasn't even pre-loadedon the list) and either 1. It freezes the Cheat Device when trying to save or it never loads up the game.
I'm not fiddled around with adding codes, not sure how to do it to be honest. Maybe check the github or ask a question there.
I am trying to get it working on Burnout Revenge which I am playing through SMB on my PS2. Everything goes well until I boot up the game and notice that none of the cheats I enabled actually seem to be enabled. I am not sure what I should do as I do not know what the problem is. I did see that Burnout Revenge had some weird long name within CheatDevice, but I assume the names of the games in CheatDevice won't have to identically match those of my PS2 games I have working through SMB?
I am not a hardcore cheat device user so I can't comment on what is going on here. Do other games work fine as a baseline?

I downloaded it and did exactly what the video showed and I opened up cheat device to seeing nothing. I also have another problem with codebreaker too like the Cheats won’t work
I don't know why it doesn't show, I did make a usb follow up tutorial that bypasses black screen if that is what you have. Or try cheat device as alternative.
When i press mc0:Boot/Boot.Elf ,
It show me my memory card what i do please help
That is what I would expect it to do unless you have some other program renamed as Boot.Elf

On my freemcboot v 1.8 is not working it does not load just frezes but when i leave just licence an elf file it runs normal
Should add the entire package with database and the cheat device elf file. It should work

I haven't used this with that game specifically, not sure if that is a bug or if another work around. In general, I got this program to work with games running off of usb, so I think it should be fine too if a compatible game is running off of internal hdd.
My only problem is i cant add it to my home screen funtuna broweser cuz it has buncha files along side it dont know how to add it there so i wont ulaunch it everytime i want it
Maybe add a shortcut to the cheat device on the ulaunchelf menu page.

Dude there are some major games missing like God of war 2. And many useful cheats. When i tried to add game the entire cheat device games list was cut in half??

I don't know if I'm doing something wrong but when I try to load half-life cheats or any game for that matter or with cheats it just doesn't activate them it just plays the game normally from my USB
I don't know either if the cheats are looking for a specific game type or region? Oh well, at least you can play half life on pc and cheat there, right? Probably looks better and loads quicker too.

Is there a specific place this needs to be on the HDD? I have it with my other apps on it and it launches fine but none of the codes are there for games. If I launch it from my memory card or a USB device it works just fine.
I don't know off hand why it wouldn't work properly off the HDD assuming it has the database just like if running from memory card or usb. Not sure if that is a bug or requires a unique workaround for whatever reason. Maybe psx-place.com might have better idea as to what is going on

If you have ulaunchelf, copy the cheat device files to usb or memory card and run from there.

Was cheat device copied over properly with the database? I am using a newer FMCB and I don't recall no cheats showing.
