    You have my setup. I love to zero in on very small flowers, buds and insects. If you get tired of landscape photography, another portrait of a person, go small, go macro. It's a whole different and amazing world.
    Great shots. Bugs don't post well when you get close, except a praying mantis. Dang thing got into my house. I got it and moved it to a small guava tree. Got some great images of this guy.

      Chris - thank you. I think this set up is compares and is on par with the the Canon R7 all the way around..... and the lenses are a little less expensive - just a little. Each new camera that hits the market pushes the others.... and we get to go out and play with it. For the wedding I have agreed to shoot< will be using two R5s tough. This is what I would consider a wildlife set up 🙏💖🤗

    Look at this mate! You’re shooting Sony! I also tested the a6700 very recently! Very impressive indeed also compared to a z50 or even a z6II….its just miles ahead honestly. But my a6400 can almost keep up completely from a photographers perspective. Video is a different Story though…….i will definitely keep my a6400 for another year at least and wait until next year with the a6700. Keep it up man. Btw….im still shooting all my macros with my Nikon d3300….still impressive this old little beast!

      That is AWESOME. I really had fun with the A6700 - to the point where I almost bought it. LOL. I have to rent that again soon - it was a blast. The Canon R7 has a bit more that it can do and is equally impressive with a few more megapixels. 🙏🤗💖

      Simply an amazing set up!! And thanks for the comment. This whole set up for macro is about $2500 for macro and your flash will work just fine. The 200-600 is only $1800 and the whole thing was so fun to shoot. It is a fantastic all around alternative to the Canon R7 for wildlife...... and I REALY do want all this. Life is short. Tuesday or Thursday I should have the comparison macro video up shooting both the R7 and the A6700, same day, same place. Really impressive tech. See you out there soon? And oh yeah - almost ALL of it was shot with the auto focus. ..... new tech🙏💖🤗

      @@rdphoto2 When I rented this, I did not even think about the hot shoe off to the side. I knew one of my flashes would work, but that placement.... just did not think it LOL. Ah well, it worked just fine. I will have to see what they have if/when I get one!! When I put my mic for video on there, it was the same. It worked though!!! 🙏💖🤗

      I just bought it with the 90mm F2.8 macro.
      My first step into Sony. My first stabilized macro lens. I had to buy it to see if it helps filming insects.
      Also curious about the insect AF, but not expecting miracle.

    wow, some incredible shots... can I ask what you thought of the iso performance of this camera? cheers :)

    • @JonnyPink65
      @JonnyPink65  Год назад

      Thank you!!!! Overall, I was impressed. The higher ISO performance is not a issue - yes noisier than a full frame at high ISO, but the software we have for developing photos - I use Lightroom and have always used masks - makes the high ISO a non issue for the most part. Yes, an image will usually - USUALLY - be cleaner at a lower ISO, but the old rules we used with DSLRs and film no longer apply. For that reason, unless I am shooting an old DSLR for fun (that is an adventure trying to review you photos in the eyepiece 😅🤣), I set my ISO to auto, set the aperture as low as the lens I am use will allow and just watch my shutter speed. I think to many are caught up in the old way we used to think with the old tech we had. This new stuff, even phones, are so advanced and so much fun to shoot. I was going to do another whole video about the Sony A6700 but unfortunately the 200-600 that was sent to me as a rental this time, had optical issues. The adapter I rented and used with my 70-200 are amazing, but no the Sony lens images. Ah well. Some of the images I shot with the A6700 and my Canon R7 have been at ISO-12000+. The software we have at our fingertips cleans it up with no problem, then color to taste. 🙏💖🤗

    what do you think about the a6700 vs the r7 for wildlife and travel. the Sony does have more lens options which is something I am considering. Overall which should I get for a first mirrorless camera?

    • @JonnyPink65
      @JonnyPink65  Год назад

      Wow, that is a tough call. Each has advantages and disadvantages. The R7 has two card slots and ALL the old inexpensive EF glass works flawlessly on the the new R mirrorless bodies so lens selection is really not an issue. I personally like the 1.6 Canon crop and I think the IBIS is actually a little better on the Canon - but is is more expensive. It is also a bigger camera body if that is something that matters to you. Canon also has some fantastic new inexpensive lenses for those that just want to go out and have fun, not spend too much money and that are not too heavy. This new Sony I thin is AMAZING - great color depth in the RAW files which is something I have not been able to say in the past, and of course, the amazing Sony AF. Both the Canon and Sony are about the same as far as that goes. If you are shooting wildlife, then the Sony will be a little less expensive if you get the A6700 and their amazing 200-600mm lens. The Sony is a smaller body if that is something that you are looking for. Both are simply amazing cameras. Once you get into pro level primes, the cost is the same pretty much across the board and all the manufacturers offer the same 600mm F4, but not many are going to drop the cash. For me, a big selling point is the MFD or minimum focus distance. Right now for me, my favorite set up is the Canon 100-500 with a 1.4 tele on it giving me 700mm at F10 and when I put that on the R7, I have 1120mm of reach and I can shot up close - a win win for what I want to shoot. That lens though is expensive. I shoot Canon because all their products just work for what I want. The choice is yours based on what you want to shoot. Any - ANY - camera can take a great photo - it is just a tool. The magic of a photo comes from the person behind the lens and your vision. I know it is not the answer you want but the choice really is yours. Both are great systems, both are fun to shoot, and both produce some great results. 🙏🤗💖
      PS - I personally think the BEST macro lens on the market is the old Canon EF 100mm L 2.8 macro lens. I hated the new RF version, but I really enjoyed the Sony 90mm macro lens. I think the AF that I like to use for macro works well with both, but better with Canon.

    Did you use the insect detection witj AF mode? If so how did it work? I have a 6100 + 90 mm macro and I used to focus manually since I've experienced lens hunting many times.
    I wonder how reliable and fast is the AF of a6700/90 mm combo

    • @JonnyPink65
      @JonnyPink65  Год назад

      I have not used an A6100 in a really long time. The older AF was good, but the new stuff is simply amazing. I use eye AF that I have set for animals using my R7 and it locks on most of the time. If not, I use single point. The Canon is simply amazing at what it does and I would put that above the Sony. I shot the Sony the same way going between eye AF and single point - it worked extremely well. The newer software in the cameras and the processors are so much better than what they were even a couple of years ago. If I were to use an older camera like the A6100, i would use manual focus only and focus peaking. The new bodies, like cars, just have more modern features. 🙏💖🤗

    • @JonnyPink65
      @JonnyPink65  27 дней назад

      I like full frame lenses on crop bodies for that extra perceived reach. I don't use ASP-C lenses. For the this, the Sony 90mm with the Sony 1.5 crop gave me 135mm and it was impressive for sure. I mostly shoot Canon with the 1.6 crop on the R7 so the full frame lenses for wildlife give me just a bit more. 🙏🤗💖

    • @JonnyPink65
      @JonnyPink65  Год назад

      You know what is funny is that on paper, the EVF on the A6700 is worse than on the R7 - and I am not crazy about the EVF on the R7. I don't hate it but it is lacking. That is another thing the I really liked and preferred on the Sony A6700 over the R7 is the EVF. Neither is what I get with the R5 of course but the A6700 I think is actually pretty good on a budget camera.🙏💖🤗
