The success of the Jackson 5 cartoon led to another cartoon series that starred their biggest rivals The Osmonds. That one began in 1972 and only lasted for 17 episodes but I still liked it better because of the songs. Unlike the Jacksons, the Osmonds used their own voices in the series which helped its popularity. Another cartoon series that I loved back then which remained popular throughout the 1970s was the Archies: Archie, Jughead, Reggie, Betty, and Veronica. Their show began in 1968, and exploded in popularity after introducing their biggest hit "Sugar Sugar". The show also introduced new characters that had their own spinoff series that were also successful: "The Groovie Goolies" and "Sabrina: The Teenage Witch".

I don't think Banana Splits and Fat Albert were really forgotten and being on the list. And Fat Albert was actually made for 13 seasons, not 8 from 1972 to 1985.
Fun fact: three Fat Albert episodes starred a duck wearing a scarf and a hat. He was named Cluck. For some reason, even with the long run of the show, Cluck only appeared in three episodes, and the gang continued on as if he never existed.

They had Heckle & Jeckle,Mighty Mouse,Deputy Dog,Bugs Bunny & Roadrunner,Rocky & Bullwinkle,Underdog,Tennessee Tuxedo,Hoppity Hooper,Secret Squirrel,Atom Ant, & Beany & Cecil !!! While I fondly remember enjoying all those you mentioned, primarily The Jackson 5, Scooby Doo, Fat Albert, you sadly forgot a few other must see cartoons. Wacky Racers, Bullwinkle and Rocky, and George of the Jungle (with Tom Slick along with Super Chicken and his side kick "You knew the job was dangerous when you took it" Fred.) Extra points to anyone who can name the pet mice Michael Jackson kept in his pocket (hint- one was named Ray).
Josie and the Pussycats almost never aired. Some CBS affiliates in the Deep South objected to the character Valerie and wanted her removed but Hanna-Barbera insisted that Valerie stayed, that or the show would not be aired.
Josie and the Pussycats wasn't the first to challenge Southern racism. Hogan's Heroes and Star Trek both featured black actors in major roles whom the networks refused to remove. It's pathetic that this kind of attitude dragged on even into the 1970s. (Valerie is the best Pussycat btw)
It is Sad but the South really hasn't changed but is Stressing a return to the good Ole days. Which is why most are so-called Right to Work States 😢😢😢!
Growing up in the 70’s I watched many of these shows. There are a few shows that came out before I was born and watched as reruns. Kids nowadays don’t these show and what fun they are.
I was born in '68 and remember watching a lot of these. Even the real Batman and Robin, The Lone Ranger, Arc 2, and others I can't think of or remember. I miss being a kid!
I was born in 1971. 7 am on Saturday was what I lived for. And remember the Walt Disney show and Little House on the Prairie. 😢❤I miss the 70’s and I miss my mom, daddy, sisters, and brother. I also miss my husband. I’m 53 now, but if I could swap places and go back, I would. 😢
Most of these were on every saturday at my house, except the banana splits and speedbuggy. The only time I ever remember speed buggy was whenever he teamed up with scooby doo. My absolute favorite line from any cartoon ever was an episode of the Superfriends where the Legion of Doom took over the Superfriends headquarters. They started trashing the place, Bizarro is sitting in a chair and says "I interface with computer" and smashes his face into the computer screen. Damn funny!
One of my favorite thing about Saturday morning cartoons was School House Rock. Man i loved those and learned the Preamble to the Constitution ...good timea 😂
I used to watch some of these every Saturday morning when I was a kid and they never get old. Hong Kong Phooey, Josie and the Pussycats, Scooby Doo. I loved them all. Still do.
I loved the Fat Albert Show. It did give us a better way of looking at the world, right along with programs like Sesame Street and the Electric Company.
I can't believe you didn't even mention Jabberjaw. How can you overlook a walking, , talking, air breathing Great White Shark that plays the drums and sounds like Curly Howard? Honestly.
Cheri Moor was the stage name for Cheryl Ladd. A few years later, the late Aaron Spelling hired her to replace the late Farrah Fawcett, who left Charlie's Angels to star in movies 🎥.
The Jackson 5 would be later followed by The Osmonds, also from Rankin-Bass. There was also The Brady Kids which was created by Filmation, the studio who did Fat Albert at the same time.
You missed one of my favorites: the Laff-a-lympics. That combined all these and more to spoof Olympic games in cartoon form. Good times. Oh, you also missed Dudley Do-Right. Another classic. I remember being a kid and wondering how the Banana Splits could go into a store to buy stuff and as soon as the door closed, it would open again and they'd be coming out. Ah, the ignorance of jump cuts. lol When I was a kid in the 70s, I saw Josie and the Pussycats as an off-brand Scooby Doo, and wasn't interested.
What about Rocky and Bullwinkle, and Jonny Quest, Atom Ant, Richie Rich, Flintstones, Jetsons? I loved those days. I'm glad I grew up then. Thanks for the memories.

@@tb7771 No that was Hannah/Barbara
I want to find the version over superfrineds with the wonder twins.
I loved most of them! I was particularly fond of Space Ghost and the Herculoids… One that you didn’t mention was the Adventures of Gulliver….
“Danger Island” was the first major vehicle for Jan Michael-Vincent before he starred in “Air Wolf” later on in the 80s.
But it wasn't a toon it was a live action show of a turkey. I couldn't stand that brainless Leslie (ronnie troup)
@@tsitracommunications2884 Ronne Troup was beautiful! I loved her on "My Three Sons". The episodes where Polly dated Chip are my favorites.
Naw, Danger Island was great! True, kinda dumb and campy, but who cares?! Uh Oh, Chongo!!
@@hurdygurdyguy1 if I had my way I'd give that bratty Leslie a spank that would bust her butt balloons for her getting in trouble
@johndunkelburg9495
Too Bad there Wasn't an Airwolf cartoon series , might have been Too Violent.
😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅
Boy. . . Hearing the theme music to "Banana Splits", along with seeing the live action clip of them driving buggies across a field, sure took me back!
Man! Saturday morning, cereal and pajamas went together!
Fun fact: three Fat Albert episodes starred a duck wearing a scarf and a hat. He was named Cluck. For some reason, even with the long run of the show, Cluck only appeared in three episodes, and the gang continued on as if he never existed.
I never knew about the duck.I am a 70''s kid. I really liked Speed Buggy back in the day. Rocky and Bullwinkle as well.
@@cocoaorange1
Barely anyone remembers Cluck as he only appeared in three episodes.
Well, that's cartoon scripting for you... not known for consistency 🤣
Must've "moved to a farm upstate!" 😂
Maybe Fat Albert got really hungry one day and... well, you know.
@@tomkerruish2982
He's too nice for that. Besides, it's a kid's show.
There are some obscure cartoons out there from the 70s but the ones you mention are not forgotten.
wow man childhood memories going down memory Lane no RUclips no Netflix or no social media and no damn smartphone damn how sweet life was back in the 70S man i want to go back to the 70S damn 😆😛🤪🤣
💯💯💯💯
So so much Sweeter!!!!!😅😅❤😅❤❤!
Dude! I haven't heard thr Sublime cover of Hong Kong Fuey in forever, thank you!🤘🤘🤘
I've never heard sublimes version of that... Eva, but instantly recognised it was sublime.... Thank you for the conformation
@@Dlweta57 in the mid 90s 93-94 there was a Saturday morning cartoons go punk CD, it's off that.
Yes indeed I miss this cartoons, some of them are my all time favorite Saturday morning cartoons
I remember when I was real young in the 60's they had cartoons early Saturday mornings. They had Heckle & Jeckle,Mighty Mouse,Deputy Dog,Bugs Bunny & Roadrunner,Rocky & Bullwinkle,Underdog,Tennessee Tuxedo,Hoppity Hooper,Secret Squirrel,Atom Ant, & Beany & Cecil !!! Does anybody remember those cartoons???
Yes! Lol my niece & nephew were chatterboxes so I always called them Heckle & Jeckle! 😂
I Do Too....😊.
Hopefully these will be on the upcoming MeTV Toons channel.
One cartoon I remember watching was the Drak Pak
Back when I didn’t sleep in on Saturdays. Got up as early as I could so I wouldn’t miss any of my favorite cartoons or other children’s programming.
Remember them all even though I was 9 by 1970, I was born in 1961. I watch prince planet, Kimba the white lion and speed racer in the mid to late 60s.
Speed Racer 1967. One of my favorites along with Johnny Quest
Same
While I fondly remember enjoying all those you mentioned, primarily The Jackson 5, Scooby Doo, Fat Albert, you sadly forgot a few other must see cartoons.
I had forgotten the title of Wacky Racers. Favorite tag line from those was "..., watch out for that tree."
@@mikechappell4156 That line was from the George of the Jungle cartoon. It made it into the movie with Brendan Fraser as well.
Yeah I miss those days. Waking up and having my bowl of cereal while watching Saturday morning cartoons
These were really awesome cartoons that taught us lessons and were fun loving. If they were brought back as old as I am I'm going to enjoy them.
@@ordinaryk maybe the first animated series.
Aw wow didn't know that be we all seen up here in the north
@@ordinaryk agreed, she had the brains as well as the beauty. Helped Alan and Alexander out of jams as did Sebastian.
I was born in 1968 too
I am a year older.
NOW I know I am Old. I remember everyone of these series! I'm Glad that I Actually watched them as a child and still remember Saturday Morning!
Adam West was the greatest Batman on TV, in comic books and the movies.
Love watching underdog as well
I was born in 1971. 7 am on Saturday was what I lived for. And remember the Walt Disney show and Little House on the Prairie. 😢❤I miss the 70’s and I miss my mom, daddy, sisters, and brother. I also miss my husband. I’m 53 now, but if I could swap places and go back, I would. 😢
The 70s 80s cartoons were the best hands down!
20s thru 90s had magnificent cartoons
Most of these were on every saturday at my house, except the banana splits and speedbuggy. The only time I ever remember speed buggy was whenever he teamed up with scooby doo.
My absolute favorite line from any cartoon ever was an episode of the Superfriends where the Legion of Doom took over the Superfriends headquarters. They started trashing the place, Bizarro is sitting in a chair and says "I interface with computer" and smashes his face into the computer screen. Damn funny!
Challenge of the Super Friends was my favorite! 😆
Popeye the sailorman, Young Samson, Abbott and Castello, those were also good shows
One of my favorite thing about Saturday morning cartoons was School House Rock. Man i loved those and learned the Preamble to the Constitution ...good timea 😂
Even I love Godzilla 1978 cartoon including Yogi's Space Race.
I defiantly watched the banana splits, in 1968 I was 7.
Hong Kong Phooey Scatman Crothers. Oh yes, wonderful memories. A forever favorite.
I used to watch some of these every Saturday morning when I was a kid and they never get old.
Hong Kong Phooey, Josie and the Pussycats, Scooby Doo. I loved them all. Still do.
I loved Hong Kong Phooey as a kid. I bought the series several years ago, I still love it as an adult.
Half of these were forgotten but the other half were way to good to forget. You should have talked about Speed Racer, that's a great one.
I loved the Fat Albert Show. It did give us a better way of looking at the world, right along with programs like Sesame Street and the Electric Company.
I wouldn't say any of these are forgotten, I remember each one.
I remember them all
I can't believe you didn't even mention Jabberjaw. How can you overlook a walking, , talking, air breathing Great White Shark that plays the drums and sounds like Curly Howard? Honestly.
Nuk nuk nuk!?!?!?!😂😂..
Scooby Doo has multiple come backs popular up to ?
A pup named Scooby Doo
Scooby Doo zombie Island ect
I liked most of these, but I especially liked Hong Kong Phooey growing up.
As a child in the 70's I remember all these classic cartoons and I miss most of them ☺
Jonny Quest was a trend setting show with great storylines and badass jazz music.
A lot of these cartoons are greatly missed.
this video is a keeper! my childhood all over again!
God made Saturday mornings for kids. It was probably the only time of the week I was happy as a kid.
I loved both Hanna Barbera, Filmation, and Raskin Bass cartoons from the 70s...they were the best ever!!!
I'm 68 and yes please bring them back
You missed one of my favorites: the Laff-a-lympics.
Ah, the ignorance of jump cuts. lol
When I was a kid in the 70s, I saw Josie and the Pussycats as an off-brand Scooby Doo, and wasn't interested.
Mine, too! With the Scooby-Doobies, the Yogi-Yahooies, and the Really-Rottens! I'm surprised there was no mention of the Star Trek cartoon.
What about Rocky and Bullwinkle, and Jonny Quest, Atom Ant, Richie Rich, Flintstones, Jetsons? I loved those days. I'm glad I grew up then. Thanks for the memories.
