The aircraft on the carrier alone could likely maintain air superiority over Japan, China and Russia as the pilots have combat experience and the aircraft have been proven in combat and modified based off those results, the aircraft maintained by the US Navy are more advanced than the stock versions of the aircraft. The US Navy has the second largest air force in the world. The US Marines and Army also have very large air forces as well. Japan has recently majorly increased it's military spending budget and has more modern equipment and training than China.

Would like to see Japan get back into being a naval military power. The Aegis class surface ships are a good start. However, even better (IMO) would be the establishment of a submarine based nuclear navy... in a manner similar to what Australia is now doing. Japan certainly possesses the nuclear and maritime know-how to manage such an endeavor. Not only that, but nuclear armed submarines make for a great way to defend itself against bigger (and smaller) aggressor nations that already possess nuclear weapons.
