  • Blind Blake was one of the most phenomenal fingerstyle guitarists who ever lived. His 1920's and 30's recordings were a major influence on the piedmont bluesmen who came after him. Here I'm doing his famous West Coast Blues on an old Lyon and Healy parlor guitar.

Thats what makes a palour guitar awesome , got myself also one, about 60 yrs old or something and I was amazed how much low end it produced while the guitar isnt even that big. But it sounds lovely in the highs and lows. I really want to learn these kind of songs too 😁

Sapele Steve Well I’m not completely blind, but I am legally blind and it’s really not that hard, for me at least. I’m not a very good guitar player, but I am pretty good at harmonica, although that’s pretty much the easiest instrument I can think of for a blind person to play. If you or anyone else have any questions I’d be happy to answer them.

Alright, you're the first person I've seen mention something about a "parlor guitar". Not long ago, about a year ago, I found a guitar in the attic of where I work, and as it turns out, it's considered a parlor guitar as well. It's a '60s model Norma guitar, and it needs some TLC. The action is terrible, the nut is entirely too large, the frets look like the flat side of a metal file, the tuners are either too hard or too easy to turn, and for the most part, it's just a piece of crap. But man, it sounds GREAT. When it actually wants to stay in tune, it sounds like the kind of noise a man makes after losing his job, finding out his wife is cheating on him with his brother, his kid has to go to summer school, his hernia is acting up, and he just found out he's getting audited by the IRS. In short, this thing sounds like depression incarnate. The only thing that's actually "wrong" with the guitar, is that the string saddle is very skinny and cheaply made; a piece of it broke off right under the 1st string. It doesn't cause the string to slip, but I can't hit that string with any gusto for fear of it jumping the track and popping.
I want to give this guitar more than just lemon oil and a new set of strings; what do you suggest I do that will make this guitar shine and retain it's tone? Please help.

  • @AdamMGrubb1979
