This was seriously one of the most unexpected deaths I’ve seen in a movie in a while. Truly a devastating yet beautiful movie
Really? For me it was the opposite. I got really nervous and felt something was up when it started to linger on shots of her cycling in traffic.
I threw the book down in disgust and the air turned blue. A great literary move with the desired effect for the reader.
Don't watch City of Angels
Lesson learned: don't ride a bike when you are feeling love and happy with your dreamed partner. Another older movie, city of angels, when finally the couple got together, the same thing happened, the lady was riding a bike. If the girls were driving a F350, they might be still alive.
Agreed, I immediately thought of that movie too, it always helps to actually look where you're going before riding into heavy traffic.
Or driving a Chevy Suburban maybe?
To be a smart and attentive rider is enough 🤦🏻 she just did stupid thing
@@trinaq Absolutely right
She should have riding gear
This and 'Bridge to Terabithia' honestly had to be some of the most shocking changes in a film. Both hit like a brick.
maybe they hit like a truck?
Remember Me with Robert Pattinson. Include this in the list. That movie I can’t remember the whole story but the ending made my jaw drop.
Think some other films I would list close to this would be: Boy In The Striped Pajamas, Tuck Everlasting, Never Let Me Go, Atonement
@@lea9977but in Tuck, it was sorta obvious because so much time had passed
Bridge to terabithia can make me cry anytime
I wasn't expecting Emma's death when I first read the book, and I was a mess afterwards. At least Dexter and Emma were able to have a sweet moment together before her tragic death.
Crazy how Anne Hathaway let a truck hit her for this movie. Such dedication
Brad Pitt in Meet Joe Black demonstrated more dedication
I’m laughing so hard
I remember watching this movie when I was like 12 years old and the end just shocked me to my core. I don't remember anything else from the movie but this. And since that day, I hate movies with a bad ending
I saw this movie once when I was 12 and have never been able to watch it again because of the crippling devastation this scene put me through
I remember freaking out when I saw this scene for the first time
I was so shocked when she was hit. It's so unexpected and heart breaking.
Me too! I vividly remember renting this on redbox and i was in SHOCK
I just saw the Netflix series version of One Day with Ambika Mod and Leo Woodall. Binge watched all night and every night I keep re-running the first and second-to-last episodes. It’s just so relatable. I think so many of us have had an Emma or a Dexter in our checkered past…
Agree 1000%
The netflix version was excellent, I'd say much better than the movie! EXCEPT for 2 things: Ian's actor did a good job but he looked way too goofy, and Emma's death here is so much more realistic.
Movie version: speeding hauler absolutely mangles a cyclist not wearing a helmet on an A road
Netflix version: a van going about 20mph (speed limit in those London residential streets) lightly taps Ambika *who is also wearing a helmet*
Like is she just made out of glass or something??
@@jenniferkeates absolutely. It takes until the next episode to confirm she died versus in the movie you know she isn't getting back up.
I’m in proses of binging new remake. I’m in minority, but I don’t see the connection. I’m at about ep 5. I saw between Sturgess and Hathaway.
@@ellenritt7667I definitely see the connection. they have awesome chemistry, it looked pretty natural and I never feel that way when I watch these things
I just finished watching series and cried like a baby at the end :(
I thought I was the only one.
I have to go back here, cause i dont remember it happening from the movie.. i just cant accept it..
SAME!
Is it good? Genuinely curious.
Saya penasaran ingin menontonnya tapi saya takut kacau setelah menonton karna mengetahui akhir ceritanya😂😂
Having read the book I knew it was coming, and it still made me flinch so hard watching it happen.
I wanted to watch this film when it 1st came out I was 28 years old I got to watch it just after my ex cheated on me 8 years later It really touches you deep down a soul when you're broken-hearted Lovely film Sad Ending
Ent ...its sad
i just googled the film as i forgotten what it was called as i watched it in 2016 after i split with my ex lol
ahh bee abimm.. yasatan yasattigini yasasin diyelim. ne eksik ne fazla..
I know it’s coming, and yet I flinch…..
This had city of angels vibes. Girls in love and bicycles don't mix
Watched this when I was six, traumatised forever.
Check both sides before crossing the street people
She should have stopped when that tunnel ended.. ☹️
That's the logical thing to do because it's a blind spot
Perhaps she didn’t becUse she was so in love with and happy thinking of dex and her last minutes were of a full, happy heart ❤❤❤
This ending hit me like a truck😢
There was a woman in my town who was killed in a very similar fashion. Except it was at night, she was illuminated by reflectors and a bicycle light. The truck hit her, dragged her and her bike for a couple of blocks. There is a bicycle memorializing her in the neighborhood.
Oh How horrible
I am as sad as I was in Meet Joe Black, The Vow and If only accident scene as well. Like this movie they felt something beautiful before the tragic accident.
Good example why look both ways no matter you ride or walk
Yes, and no matter if it’s a one-way
Beatifull movie 😍
Bane was behind the wheel!
Simple lesson, stop……look left, look right.😢
This movie’s ending + atonement + the 9.11 movie with Rob Pattinson had similar shocking endings 😢
I like this version. Devastating. Haven’t finished new remake.
that stuntwoman is amazing ! 😦
Now I chek the end before watching a love movie to make sure I sont cry my Life at the end. Can not Bear it😭😭
I do the same thing before watching anything but if it's a good movie/ series, it still affects me the same in the end.
Anne is so incredibly beautiful.
How?😂
I quite agree
the hearts ironically fluttering in as the camera zooms out on her dead body, wtf 😭
Not the thing to watch if you have PTSD from being hit by a vehicle in real life.
Truck-kun strikes again
if you slow down on the camera pan to her, you can see her eyes move briefly
You can also hear her trying to speak or call for help
Moral of the story, never be happy and absolutely DON'T ride a bike 😉 at the same time
I just watched the series and dude why didn't anyone help Emma? At least in the movie people were running up, but not in the series. Lol small detail but it made me so mad 😅
Then I cried and didn't recover for hours
I said the same thing
Maybe because it was raining and the streets weren't so crowded. But yes it was heartbreaking.
@@RealTalkWithSSG the driver could have gotten out the car to check on Emma.
Was it worth watching? Were the acting on par?
@@seiji-kun9488 I would definitely watch! The acting is so good... Just be ready to cry
Look both ways before crossing a street.
This scene still haunts me.
anne’s hair is so pretty
She looks like a 60 year old
@@westaussie965 ur really miserable 😭
bruh was NOT looking where she was going
Oh I'm so shocked 😢
"Has anyone seen my shoes? I kicked them off in a fit of joy"
This death scene shocked me to my core! I honestly thought it was going to be a happy ending 😢
It looked more convincing in the series
The i feel like the fixed camera makes it obvious something may happen
I WAS planning on watching the movie. It seems there’s no point now.
I yelled "what the f***" in the theater when i saw this scene.
Even the legally required helmet, would've have saved her there!
It’s not a legal requirement in the uk to wear a helmet.
@@lianie4606 Semantics - it's highly recommended and the word "should" is used multiple times when recommending it legally... and look what happens when you don't! lol
I watched this at the cinema and i shat myself at this part. Genuine jump scare
What the f was she thinking?
Truck Kun....is that you
Ohhh ...she lv him...
I want to watch this movie but can't find anywhere..
As a bicycle rider, one should stop at corners, be aware of incoming vehicles, before crossing. That was a stupid way to die especially at an era like that.
I was going to say the same too
Wear a helmet, kids.
One question. Why didn’t she stop before crossing the road? I mean, isn’t that what you’re supposed to do?
this is hard to watch. my moms last moments must have been similar.. i can’t imagine it..
So the first isekai happened in England?
I hate sad ending
😢😢
Wait, so the Netflix version is a remake of this, or of a book? Can't help notice the same names....and death 🥲
They are both based on the novel “One day” by David Nicholls
I saw people that got hit by trucks, they don't stay in one pieces and there guts are all over the place
Yeah, they tried to make it look like her body was contorted, but the truck would have flung her body so forcefully that it would have actually been very gruesome. I don’t think we even need a shot of her lying on the ground; the speed and size of the truck was enough of an indicator to the audience that her outcome was not good.
Regardless of how good these American actresses are, they never speak a perfect British accent.
Let alone a leeds accent like how it is in the book
I know haha as a mancunian who lives in Leeds- 7.5 years i found Ambika and Anne's leeds accident terrible. Ambika switched from middles to Southern to mancunian throughout but I do adore both of these actresses and both were perfect as Emma in this film despite the terrible accent 😅
Rene Zellwegger does tho!
Much prefer the casting of the tv series than the film. Always felt it was off and didn’t match the book. Leo’s Dex is so much warmer! And Anne Hathaway is too polished for Emma.
My final crush died... I am so truly dismayed to her. :(
Nice
Anyone else bothered that he walked away without rinsing? 🤷🏻♀️
It's actually recommended not to rinse after brushing and just spit out the excess instead. The remaining toothpaste in your mouth will continue to keep things clean.
I've always been told not to rinse. You're just washing the toothpaste off when you rinse. You should also use mouthwash before brushing and not after.
Hahahahaha😂😂😂😂😂
Is anyone ever wearing a helmet in scenes like this? (Okay, it won’t save you from massive internal injuries, but it does help in other accidents.)
Helmet saved my friends little brother. Though his colon fell out his butt and he had to wear a colonoscopy bag for a year. The bus/truck is actually accurate cause the driver is too high and you're in their blind spot. I thought not having designated bike trails is just a Balkan ratchet ways of living, but I see now it's actually quite widespread. Cycling among vehicles, always dangerous. I didn't touch my bike in years cause of it.
I paused it at 2:38. Emma is alive 😍
i love this movie but don't want to watch it again
Whoops...
Not realistic though. If someone gets hit like that, they’re going to be in pieces.
Why would a cyclist not stop at a main road junction?
HAHA that was hilarious this made me laugh!
The way she's lying there looks way to staged. Like you end up perfectly on your back after a hit like that.
No helmet either. 😢
Wouldn't have changed anything. Internal injuries for sure.
i honestly dk who to blame Emma or the truck driver? anyone pls help me
The author.
Both. The driver was speeding and she didn't stop to look if any cars were coming
Well, not the truck driver. What was he supposed to do? She came out of an alley without even slowing down or looking.
@@justahumanwithamask4089 Mate, how do you know he was speeding? She came out of an alley (that's pedestrian only) without stopping or looking. Even if he was going really slow, he would not have been able to stop. This is 100% on her.
Wear a helmet
That truck scene is just thr most horrible movie ender ever.
I'm so confused. This isn't Emma in Netflix 😭
I was so confused too but they made it a movie in 2011😭🥲
🙁 If the truck driver had stopped the truck. Emma would still be alive.
If she had stopped to look both ways, she would have been alive. The truck could never have stopped.
Btavo dexter you mader her waist her best fertile years 😢
Cool
2:40 is what you came for.... aaaaahahahahahahahahha
This movie is way better than the netflix remake ❤
that was kinda her fault tho
How is this a “romcom”?!?? Jesus Christ!
This is a Rom Com?!??
ikr! it's a tragic romance ugh
this was one of the funniest scenes in the movie (the only)
You are sick and ridiculous for thinking that. How sad and empty you are.
Stupid ending. 😢 Writer could have made it into a good ending. I don't think the world needs a painful ending from a story like this.
Cycling like Biden
Wear helmets girls.
LOL, that doesn't do much when you're hit full on by a truck. These were internal injuries, not a head injury. A helmet is not a force field.
@@plumdutchess but you should still wear a helmet
Destroyed movie 😮
What did the stupid driver do?
The "stupid" driver was just driving. She was stupid for not stopping and looking. A 6 year old knows better.
@@plumdutchessThe driver probably didn't stop at the stop sign.
Why do I find her annoying? Am I the only one?
the death is much more shocking in this version i think
Check both sides before crossing the street people
