The ending makes sense, if you are able to put more pieces together. 1. Everyone needs to watch 2-3 times. Make sure you Count how many Individual The Thing’s are around at one time. 2. The Thing likely has assimilated other alien species. I.e. Flying saucer at the beginning. That means it has more intelligence than humans. 3. A lot of young people don’t realize that before 1985 (the beginning of the AIDS/HIV pandemic), people didn’t think of blood being dangerous. Referring to the blood sample scene.
28:33 I've seen this movie many many times since the year it released and it wasn't until just a couple years ago I realized this scene here when the thing reveals its largest mass is kind of the pay-off of near the beginning when Macready lost to Chess Wizard computer and decided to deprive the machine of its victory by destroying it. Now when I see this scene, I imagine the thing saying "Check mate, check mate, check mate." And Macready "wins" by the same basic method. Technically though, the chances that there is no more of the thing left are practically zero. It could have become smaller organisms it's acquired in the past, hiding around the camp as a bunch of separate creatures or even buried little bits of itself here and there. Or then, there are the bits of it here and there such as when Macready blew the boss creature up or earlier in the movie with the stick of dynamite. There was the bit of it that escaped through the dog kennel roof. There's still a whole bunch of possibilities of thing remnants at the Norwegian camp and the ufo crash site. There could yet be other creatures in the ufo itself or that went a different direction out of it over a hundred thousand years ago. Maybe there were other dog things that ran away from the Norwegian camp. And like they said, just a single cell of this thing on this planet is a threat to all life, because it could take everything over. They mentioned there will eventually be rescue parties coming to investigate after a while and can you imagine them not collecting samples once they realize there is a possible extraterrestrial organism to be studied? There is so much sequel potential and I've never understood why we never got sequels. I've had some pretty good nightmares based on this creature that would be great as sequels. Settings in my dreams have included deep underground research base, on a space battleship carrying the thing samples that gets attacked by an enemy warship, moon base, asteroid mining facility... The thing that my nightmares had in common was that thing samples were collected at the American and Norwegian camps and the ufo site and they were treated carefully to get them to a secure facility, but bad things happened later.
That guy's head peeling off his body while he was on that table was a part that stuck with me. It looked weird as it slid onto the floor and became kind of like an alien spider. I'm surprised, there aren't many movies scarier than The Thing.... I can only think of a couple. The 1974 The Exorcist being one of them. Then again times have changed. 19:22 the only reason it had to tap into Bennings like that is because so little of the cells were alive. The thing is really a multicellular organism that can change each and every cell to make a replication, of anything it has ever absorbed. So if it eats enough things, it can split. Like we saw in the dog kennel after it ate the dogs. But it only got a small piece to run away up into the roof. If it would’ve finished eating the dogs maybe it could’ve changed into three dogs and been even more sneaky. We saw it split when Norris thing was exposed and the head split off to try and preserve a piece of itself. If it has enough mass it can split up, it’s main goal is to replicate more and more to make it easier to spread. It’s unknown if the things are working together truly tho, or they are sorta independent with the same goal
Out of all the reactions to this movie I've seen I think Jenna would be the most likely to survive. Good instincts! The Thing ripped up MacReadys clothes to frame him since he was in the leadership position. The lights were on in MacReadys shack from one of the things going up there to get some of his clothes. Either Palmer or Blair did it. If you look at the shadow on the wall when the dog was creeping around the base it is Palmer that the dog walked in on. Blair got changed in the shack. It was after he tied the noose but before he could hang himself.

A lot of theories is that Mac was the Thing the whole time. When he gave Childs the bottle at the end, there was a small grin on Mac's face. Did he infect him there?🤔😂

All carpenter movies should be watched! Specially Assault on precinct 13, escape from New York, escape from LA, Starman, Big Trouble in little CHINA, they Live, The Fog, Eyes of Laura Mars, Prince of Darkness, and others. Carpenter resented Spielberg for ET AND it took all the money and awards. But Carpenter had the last laugh! Because this movie is much better! Carpenter made his own alien love story with Starman! Carpenter also is the master of the minimalist creepy theme music! Kurt did 4 movies with carpenter! He even did an early TV Elvis movie, for John! This is one of the 3 most important sci-fi movies ever made. Plus Alien and Bladerunner, which are all related, by actors, and some other technicalities. Also the brilliance here is, when the thing busts out, it comes out of u anywhere, any size, shape, etc. The dog trainer should have won an Oscar and the special effects guy should have won an Oscar! He was a twenty one year old college student!😮😮😮. Pro tip, carpenter is still thinking about a sequel! But there's still a massive tie in here with Alien, predator Bladerunner this , and a movie with Kurt Russell called, Soldier! They are related by the beings called Engineers, for Aliens, Terminator, predator, Bladerunner this, and a movie with Kurt Russell movie called, Soldier. Common companies, technology, Replicants, synthetic humans, beings that Engineers created, and even writers and producers! And this is why, prosthetic, robotics, special/ effects, practical effects, are way better than CGI! The three main corporations... Cyberdyne (Terminator) Weyland Corp (alien) and Tyrell Corp (Bladerunner) all did cross work for each other, and also shared some employees!😮 Kurt better have kept the hat! Also the total brilliance here is, once u have been infected, even from just a scratch, u have no idea when u are being taken over, u don't become the thing, until it's cornered found out or threatened! Then it's cells take over ur cells! One of the absolute must watch Carpenter films u must watch! Along with Starman, escape from New York, escape from LA, Big Trouble in little CHINA, assault on precinct 13. Go with those, and his Halloween stuff, Eyes of Laura Mars, They Live, The Fog, Christine, In the mouth of madness, prince of darkness, memoirs of an invisible man, vampires! There are critics who say this is Carpenter's version of Communism Socialism, etc , and how it takes over countries, much as a film in the 50s by the same name, i think...the special effects guy here went on to do some great movies! This movie has literally been discussed for 40 years, one of them has to be the thing...who is it? Lots of theories have been discussed. When it happened.... before or same time as Palmer, and something about a vision effect, in an infected person's eyes. But carpenter is adamant, that no one knows who the thing is, and there are no giveaways!!!
They both freeze to death...who's the Thing? There is a solid answer. It's 'mental'...not blood-spraying/knife slicing...which if you quiet down and internalize is much more terrifying. Watch it again.......... One of the greatest 'horror' films made.
I think Childs was definitely the thing. If you pay close attention you would see when rj talks you can see his breath due to how cold it is but when child’s talk you cannot see his. Child’s also asked rj did you kill it instead of did we kill it. So my theory is child’s was the killer.
Yes! I love when people do reactions to this movie. The Norwegian guy in the beginning said: "Get the hell out of here, that's not a dog, it's some kind of thing! It's imitating a dog, it isn't real! Get away, you idiots!" I went to see this movie when it came out and everyone else and all of my friends went to see E.T. The theater was only half-full and the people there were having the time of their lives watching this masterpiece. Carpenter has done it again with the perfect mix of horror, suspense and top tier paranoia. I don't know how MacReady didn't get infected when that blood jumped out of the petri dish. I thought that everyone in the room got infected when Norris' stomach opened up and his intestines and veins were splashing the green blood everywhere The characters did not trust anything or anyone else because they could not tell who was human or an alien. They didn't even know if they were infected or not. I love the how Carpenter tried to misdirect us by making us think that Clark was infected because he spent time with the dog. Blaire immediately understood the magnitude of the situation when he did his analysis of the organism. He did not want anyone that's infected getting back to civilization. The computer analysis estimated that it would take a little over three years to infect the whole world population. That's scary as hell. I was so happy that I went to see this movie. I told all my friends about it and we all went to see it the next weekend and they loved it. The practical effects are amazing. This movie holds up to any horror movie today. Carpenter is a genius at suspense and horror. In his first Halloween movie, the children that were watching TV were watching the original "The Thing from Another World" movie.

Cyberdyne (Terminator) Weyland Corp (alien) and Tyrell Corp (Bladerunner) all did cross work for each other, and also shared some employees!😮
Kurt better have kept the hat!
Another excellent reaction, can't wait till your next one.
22:29 😮
An excellent scary movie made in 2020 is "The Wolf of Snow Hollow". I enjoyed your reaction to The Thing, very good commentary.
You gotta watch The Thing (2011) it’s a prequel and it explains what happened to the Norwegian camp.
They both freeze to death...who's the Thing?
There is a solid answer.
It's 'mental'...not blood-spraying/knife slicing...which if you quiet down and internalize is much more terrifying.
Watch it again..........
One of the greatest 'horror' films made.
There is NO solid answer.
I always have nightmares, but I also had to see it as a child at 6 years old. And my mother said! NO!!!! maby i was 11!!
You Two Should React To Zach Snyder's "Dawn Of The Dead" "Se7en" "The Brood" "Nightbreed" "People Under The Stairs"....
I think Childs was definitely the thing. If you pay close attention you would see when rj talks you can see his breath due to how cold it is but when child’s talk you cannot see his. Child’s also asked rj did you kill it instead of did we kill it. So my theory is child’s was the killer.
@@brazyfilmo3121 but when Bennings is the Thing, you can clearly see his breath.
May I suggest (2014)Creep,(2014),Last Shift, (2005)The Descent
The Descent is already on the channel (before Jenna joined unfortunately)
Watch 'The Woman in Black' (2012) from Hammer horror, staring Daniel Radcliffe (Harry Potter). Pure, creepy ghost story and WELL worth the watch.
A great psychological thriller.
Love this movie.
Well try Pumpkinhead, and jippers crippers. Enjoyed your reactions

Hello Guys, silent hill movie 2006

Reaction to Cadillac Records starring beyonce
If you like this you should check out "In the Mouth of Madness", one of John Carpenter's best next to this one.
Why do they hate each other so much?
Because they can’t trust each other.
Yes! I love when people do reactions to this movie.
The Norwegian guy in the beginning said: "Get the hell out of here, that's not a dog, it's some kind of thing! It's imitating a dog, it isn't real! Get away, you idiots!"
I went to see this movie when it came out and everyone else and all of my friends went to see E.T. The theater was only half-full and the people there were having the time of their lives watching this masterpiece. Carpenter has done it again with the perfect mix of horror, suspense and top tier paranoia. I don't know how MacReady didn't get infected when that blood jumped out of the petri dish. I thought that everyone in the room got infected when Norris' stomach opened up and his intestines and veins were splashing the green blood everywhere
The characters did not trust anything or anyone else because they could not tell who was human or an alien.
Y’all are just to young U must watch this at night by yourself
Practical effects
Please please watch 187 w/ Samuel L Jackson came out in 1997. It’s a must watch

Didn't like the ending? Sounds like Gen Z needing to be spoonfed.....
@@spoonunit03 I’m not gen z 😂 but thanks. I didn’t say I didn’t like it, I said “I don’t know if I’m a fan” of the ending. Great movie.
@@HabitualCinema OMG. Sorry for miss-gendering you lol. I liked the ending. It was one last surprise.
The Thing is not a chick flick.
What? 😂
