I’m glad you mentioned how to clean your home after someone has been sick because it’s incredibly important. Cleaning and disposing of anything used on surfaces after you’ve been sick has to be treated like hazardous waste material. And activated charcoal is very effective to reverse poisoning or severe stomach flu symptoms especially if you can’t get medicine. If I feel a cold or other sinus issues coming on I try to take Zicam to shorten it.
Hi! A few tips to you and your community :) Regarding norovirus and ways to prevent it if you've been exposed: the study was actually done on grape seed extract intake and it was conclusive (pill or liquid form). Grape juice is not helpful in that way so could be placebo effect in your case. Activated charcoal is a great way to prevent symptoms from developping if you've been exposed; it is often used in hospital settings to help clear the body of toxins after alcohol poisoning. Additionally, alcohol-based hand sanitizer does not kill the norovirus; hypochlorous acid-based sanitizers do. Hand washing for 30 seconds is the most effective way to kill the norovirus. Hope that helps other people who deal with emetophobia!
Yes, grape seed extract is great to always have on hand (we have) 👍 and hypochlorous spray we always use. Briotech brand. For home and they have a skin spray. Love!!
I love that you referenced the humors! As a history buff, I loved to hear how herbalism takes a balance approach as opposed to the things they used to do back in the day to “balance the humors.” 😬😳
Magnesium supplements should be taken with food because on an empty stomach it may cause diarrhea. Thoroughly cleaning after sickness is great! I'm a firm believer in hand washing as well. My sisters laugh at me because I will wash my hands before and after using a public restroom buy hey, I never get sick😊
@@lisabeishline578 yes. For sure! I usually take them shortly after dinner before bedtime.. I find that these are easy on my stomach, but that hasn’t been the case for all magnesium supplements I’ve tried.
These are great tips. I also neti pot. I felt a cold coming on, lots of sneezing and swollen glands. I swear this knocked it out. Plus I did shots of pineapple juice and turmeric.
Here are some of my BEST tips for preventing and managing seasonal sickness in our home. Hope this helps. xo 1. Boost Immunity- Focus on boosting your immune system this time of the year with proper sleep, hydration, exercise, whole foods, and supplements. The supplements that are a MUST for me are vitamin D, probiotics, and magnesium every single day. I LOVE Gem bites because they have everything in one single whole food bite. Once I started taking probiotics, vitamin D and Magnesium regularly, I get sick so much less. 2. Fire Cider- Fire cider is a spicy, tangy herbal tonic often used in herbalism and folk remedies to boost the immune system and ward off colds and flu. It's traditionally made by infusing herbs and spices in apple cider vinegar, resulting in a potent concoction that has antioxidant and antimicrobial properties. Common Recipe- Ingredient: - 1 Teaspoon grated fresh horseradish root - 1 Teaspoon cup ginger root, grated - 1/2 medium onion, chopped - 2 cloves of garlic, crushed or chopped - 1 jalapeño pepper, chopped (adjust number based on heat preference) - Zest and juice of 1 lemon - Raw apple cider vinegar - Honey to taste Optional Add-ins: 1-2 sprigs of fresh rosemary or thyme 1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper Any additional herbs or spices, like turmeric or black pepper, as desired Instructions- 1. Prepare Ingredients- Place all chopped and grated ingredients in a quart-sized glass jar. Ensure the jar is clean and dry. 2. Add Vinegar- Pour apple cider vinegar into the jar until all ingredients are submerged. An easy trick is to place a piece of wax paper over the jar before screwing on the lid to prevent the vinegar from touching the metal. 3. Infuse- Store the jar in a cool, dark place for 3-4 weeks. Shake the jar daily to help the infusion process. 4. Strain and Sweeten- After infusing, strain the mixture through a fine mesh sieve or cheesecloth, pressing down on the solids to extract as much liquid as possible. Add honey to taste, mixing until dissolved. 5. Bottle and Store- Transfer the strained fire cider into clean bottles. Store in the refrigerator or a cool, dark place. Ho to Use- Daily Tonic- Take 1-2 tablespoons a day for immune support. Culinary Uses- Add to salad dressings, marinades, or sauces for an extra kick. Health Boost- Mix with warm water or tea, or enjoy straight by the spoonful. Fire cider is a flexible tonic that can be adjusted based on personal taste and ingredient availability, making it a popular staple in many natural remedy collections. Honey and garlic are both known for their immune-boosting properties. Here's how you can make a simple honey garlic remedy to support your immune health: Ingredients: 1 cup raw honey 10 cloves of fresh garlic Instructions: 1. Prepare Garlic- Peel the garlic cloves. You can either leave them whole or chop them into smaller pieces to release more of their beneficial compounds. 2. Combine Honey and Garlic- Place the garlic cloves (whole or chopped) into a clean jar. Pour the raw honey over the garlic cloves, ensuring they're fully covered. 3. Seal and Store- Seal the jar and let it sit at room temperature. It's generally good to let it infuse for a few days before you start using it. Make sure to stir or shake the jar occasionally. Over time, the honey will thin out as the garlic releases its juices. 4. Daily Consumption- You can consume a spoonful of this honey garlic mixture daily as a natural immune booster. Benefits- Garlic- Contains compounds like allicin, which are known for their antimicrobial and immune-boosting properties. Honey- Raw honey is rich in antioxidants and has antibacterial properties, potentially boosting the immune system. TIPS- - Make sure to use raw honey for the best benefits, as pasteurized honey may lose some of its natural goodness. - It’s always a good idea to consult with a healthcare provider before starting any home remedies, especially if you have any medical conditions or are on medication. This combination is often used as a traditional remedy, believed to help ward off colds and other respiratory illnesses. Stay healthy and enjoy! 🍯🧄 3. Hot Tea- Enjoy some herbal teas like Throat Coat, Immune Boosting & Stress reducing Lemon Balm & Ashwagandha etc. Stay hydrated with plenty of liquids and warm herbal teas. 4. Stomach Bug Remedies- Bonine, Dramamine, Sea Sick Bands Etc for Nausea. Concord Grape Juice & Activated Charcoal for prevention. 5. Maintain proper personal and home hygiene to keep the virus from spreading. Use a 10 (water) to 1 (bleach) ratio of Clorox Bleach & water in a water bottle to spray surfaces.
