- One of the most famous drivable par fours on the PGA TOUR, the 10th hole at The Riviera Country Club always provides interesting strategy with its unique green complex and tricky bunkers. At The Genesis Invitational 2023, the hole showed its teeth, proving once again that golf is hard, even for the best players in the world.

Tiger Woods will be make his first official start since The 150th Open last summer at St. Andrews and first non-major TOUR start since the ZOZO CHAMPIONSHIP in October 2020. The 82-time winner on the PGA TOUR will be joined by all of the top 30 players in the FedExCup standings, as well as 23 of the top 25 players in the world. These include No. 1 Scottie Scheffler who returned to the top of the Official World Golf Ranking after winning by two shots at last week’s WM Phoenix Open and Rory McIlroy, who finished T10 at last year’s event. Local favorite and 2021 winner Max Homa is in action once again, as is two-time winner of the event Adam Scott. Viktor Hovland will head to Riviera full of confidence, having finished inside the top 5 his last two outings. Similarly, John Ram will be hoping to continue his exceptional run of form that has seen him win twice already on the PGA TOUR in 2023 at the Sentry Tournament of Champions and The American Express.

Greenskeeper is probably enjoying this clip, watching with bag of popcorn.
I'm a Superintendent of a Private Course and I hate seeing this. The best golfers in the world and this is one of the few hi tier courses to use sand like this, its dirt cheap sand and shouldn't be used on the course. A bunker is meant to penalize a player but if you have skill you can still make a par. This sand takes the ability away to really spin the ball which isn't the point of a bunker. That's my opinion. The green is difficult but fair and some unlucky shots, but that's why so many people hate Poa, the grain of the turf with poa can really make the ball run away and on a small green that can be costly
8 minutes and 30 seconds of very relatable golf shots
Except for the "It got stuck in that Palm Tree" :)
cause thats the majority of golf. most people don't realize that watching the LEAD CARDS their entire life lmao.
😂
Lol. True
Finally, golf that I can relate to.
One of the best designed holes. Makes you greedy off the tee which inadvertently makes you think it’s a birdie hole. Sand is everywhere on a thin green so go for par or bogie and gtf outta there
Nah. It is definitely a birdie hole. It is played as the easiest hole other than par 5s.
@@user-yk1id2fm5q you’re right. From watching this video it seems like a nasty hole, which it can be, but data shows that it’s very scorable hole. Thank you for making me do a little research and learn something! Cheers
All the play from the bunkers has built up the collars of the green too much in certain areas.
The whole length of this video and every shot would be me still trying to finish that one hole.
PGA tour 2K23 is so realistic you would be Amazed. Rivera is my favourite of many courses.
Agreed! I like, know the course just from the game.
4:33 "It did."
🤣
I was watching the vid and a few minutes in was thinking none of the guys messing up the hole were veterans of playing Riviera. They compounded their mistakes due to lack of experience. Then Tiger’s clip comes along lol.
And Homa...
Thanks for posting. I've been waiting for it
Amazing footage, to see these world class players struggle like that. That is one tough hole.
This is how every hole should be for them!! I hate when they shoot freaking 25 under… Gets boring
The problem is that a PGA Pro thinks he should Birdie the hole every time just because of the length of it. A PGA Pro should really just play it for Par and forget about the birdie. If he makes a birdie, that's a bonus on this hole.
The data shows that going for the green is the right choice. Contrary to what people think, for a 80yds shot, the pros average distance from the hole is around 15 feet. Given how narrow and fast and sloping the green is, they most likely would miss the green.
These are the golfers who hit 900 balls on daily basis and stay in the chipping/putting area for two hours day in & day out. I feel like a hero making a bogey :D
This is 8 minutes and 30 seconds of my entire round at a 9 hole course
that hole is brutal
That's an evil hole.
Probably depends on where the hole is located on the green - if it's up in front, it's likely pretty easy for pros. If it's in the back, where it's crowned and surrounded by those bunkers, it can be brutal.
Healing ❤❤
4:50 "good shot" 🤣🤣
brutal pin placement
Not sure what to think about this hole. Seems like something that can absolutely break a solid round for no good reason. It is fun to watch though.
A lot of these were from bad positioning off the tee. If they take their medicine and go for a par most wouldn't happen. Instead they are chasing the pin on their second shot. I think it is a good risk vs reward hole.
we always see the part of golf n forget the hard part of the game to get a very good round of 18th hole of ⛳ ⛳ ⛳
I’ve got all these shots on lock
Always good to see Tour Players struggle ... thats a tough hole
it just does not check up. I love watching these
Brutal green
Best sand players in the world and they can't get it to stop? Ordinary players couldn't finish the hole.
I would take that golf club and hit the ground from anger many maaaany times. I got anxious just from watching this lol.
Oh no…
Wow..
Oh no…
Wow..
Oh no..
Etc,etc🤣🤣
I don't understand the concept of trimming a green down to it's concrete. Conditions like these are just annoying to watch _and_ play.
Let’s just get this straight, you ain’t playing this course well enough to be commenting regardless of the conditions of the green
You’d be surprised to hear that despite this video, the scoring average for the hole this week was under par, and it was the 15th easiest throughout the week
@@M21655 Ooo, good thing I said "watch and play." And if you're ever in San Diego, by all means, we have a spot open for Crossings today at 3.
@@Fried_Bananas You should just have said watch. If you're ever at Augusta, I know youre probably cleaning the toilets
Respectfully disagree
Y’all do this for a living!?
-The Sandtraps
oh, maybe I could play on the tour after all!
brutal
pga should a roasting commentator in the booth
Welcome to my world
Just a "tiny little wafer" of a hole. Turns many into Mr. Creosote (Monty Python's The Meaning of Life).
“I couldn’t possibly…”
Nice video
So they are human after all
I've played there
What did you make on 10?
@@DavisGuy drove the green far left side. Then 4 putted 😂😂
Who ever designed that hole should be charged with a war crime!
It's a cursed hole to say the least.
Needs a thicker fringe, even shots that aren't bad get punished
I would take bogey all day long and be happy.
there should be a rule against making a green this difficult, lol!
Serious question: how do members play this hole?
I'd say they pick up after the 3rd bunker shot and call it a bogey
Maybe slow down the greens by a factor of 10 and add a lot more sand to shallow out the bunkers?
What's with the music
This green really doesn’t like balls sitting on it
I think it's a little bit too much. It takes too much fun off plus time. Everyone had to wait to be done, and the next group had to do the same.. Golf should be more fun than this.
I’m not the best golfer but I bet I’m far more experienced than these guys playing out of the bushes .
or the woods
Why pro greens make ball roll like trending ice?
Why they made dude look so stereotypical in the thumbnail 😂😂😂
When will these guys learn that these bunkers don’t spin?
4 iron, lob wedge.
Basically land in one of those bunkers and you guarantee double.
You do know that it's a par 4 and most players in the video are just taking their second shot?
@stevec8352 OH, no I did not know that. That changes things quite a bit. Let's drop that double down to a single bogey then.
👍🏼
Golf would be a lot easier if the ball didn't roll as much.
This is my short game on every hole
PAINFUL
The easiest thing to do is hole out your approach on this one.
Too hard to watch…
I think the hole is kind of unfair. I don't like greens that are impossible to hold.
That's one disturbing, anxiety causing, hole.
Impossible green.
stupid hole design, the best golfers in the world are having problems with it. Bad pin placement leads to luck being a major factor of scoring well on it.
if this is what the pros do on the hole this is just a stupid design
and needlessly penal
This has got to be one of the worst golf holes in existence…
Oof golf is hard
This is too painful to watch
Lol...I'd just take an 8 and skip it.🤢🤣
This is why I quit playing this stupid game. If seasoned pros look like fools, than an old amateur like me would be less embarrassed if he lost his shorts in a parade.
I don't like this course at all. It's such a little gimmicky POS.
golf is lard. (nah jk)
🤣🤣 Amateur golf at the Apollo.
Omg what a horror show.
average round for me
Thumbnail looks like a guy doing an impression of an Asian.
RUclips ch funky crazy golf🌟
if i were them id just hit the ball better tbh
why dont they just play better?
That whole is just dumb. Shouldn’t be allowed.
Ohhhh, GOLF!
Why does ANYONE play? 🤔🤔
