You should brag about it, Liza. It was a great film musical with a wonderful cast. Minelli nailed the antique qualities from the unpaved streets to the furnishings in the home. The Halloween scenes were so authentic-the bonfire, the flour in the face, etc. Kids really did those things back then.
When the. Mother turns to herself overwhelmed with the news that they are staying with her husband coming up to hug her is truly a heart warming movie. This family has the most impressive thing in the world, the very thing that can’t be replaced.- a loving family.
I grew up in St. Louis. My father was a motorman on the very streetcar line in the book and film (the Hodiamont line). The barber shop we went to was about five minutes from the Smith home on Kensington Avenue. This is my favorite film for obvious reasons. But what is amazing is how M-G-M captured St. Louis. An advance team visited the city and did a lot of research, and so the film is both historically correct and understands the city we are meeting in the story.
That's so awesome. Such care. Always thought the city was another character in the movie- so much care is shown to establish the relationship of the Smith's to their beloved town that New York couldnt hold a candle to.
Lovely! I think it's the best cinematic homage to a city ever. Even New York comes second best . In a way St. Louis is the beloved silent character everyone loves. So here's to your beloved city. Have yourself a Merry Little Christmas
My favorite. Love Vincent for making it🌹I came from family of 4 girls and 1boy. I also was in love with a boy around the block. We could see each other's windows through . No one can sing Have yourself a merry little Christmas like Ms. Judy Garland!!
Judy has said that because of Minnelli's careful direction and photographing of her, that this was the first time she liked her appearance on screen. Judy had a complex about her looks, because of the grief MGM gave her as a young teen.
I first saw this movie when I was 4 on a video caset that was bigger then the actual video player and it was really thin. and I am now 32 and this has always been my favorite movie of all times. I used to pretend I was Judy and sing to my whole family. When it shows on tv everyone in my family calls me to put it on.
How can you watch a film on such a tiny little screen, most films are about two hours long, it must take you ages to adjust your eyes. I prefer a 42inch plasma.
I don't know. It actually does hurt my eyes and kinda gives me a headache but I try to watch it on my laptop as much as possible. But if I'm on the go, my iPod's closest. :)

It took one classic to make another legend.

Beautiful film.
Judy is great as was little Margaret O’Brien, but the the Father played by Leon Ames is worth mentioning.
LOVELY VIDEO.

For someone who hates talking about 'Mama' you sure do talk about her a lot
I care. This is a great movie! Who said she hates talking about her Mama?
