Man, it was so good to see Reese De’What again! It was like meeting an old friend from college. Man, both Kenan and Kate were absolutely hilarious in this sketch! This may be the best early Christmas gift ever! 😂😂
God I will miss kenan
I never would have guessed Reese De'What would be on the show, but then again I am a bad guesser.
Well said. Feel the same way
@@dww0902😂😂😂
It's pronounced What?!
I really hope SNL continues to find different ways to have Chloe show off her amazing voice. She's so talented.
How about we first try and be funny again and then maybe we care about her voice.
people singing AT me makes me super uncomfortable, I absolutely can't stand musicals. IMO there's way too much of that vibe on SNL for the last few years and would love to see them incorporate a little more absurdist/surreal comedy instead of the tik tok / disney approach.
idk, I kind of wish they'd stop trotting out her voice.
Tudy
@@ChrisMusson-kv8ph they’ve been getting funnier recently imo
Chloe nailed Judy Garland’s speaking voice!
She looks so beautiful in the dress. And man she really does solid me on Judy Garland’s voice.
She’s one of the best cast additions in YEARS
Kristen Wiig did too back when she was a cast member (and also played Judy Garland as a pill-popping trainwreck, as seen on the Vincent Price holiday special sketches, which most people playing Judy Garland have never done. It's always "Wizard of Oz" Judy and maybe some singing roles after that). But hey, Chloe Troast's impression does get points for being scarily on-point.
I just love that Kate played Judy in a SNL Cinema Classic edition of Wizard of Oz and her character in this sketch says’Wizard of Oz was mid!’ 😂😂😂😂😂
Her face on “Wizard of oz was MID” KILLED ME
3:19
“Good evening! And welcome to Cinema Classics.”
“I am Reece De’WHAT!”
Still never gets old 😂
I love how, after the Timothy Chalamet episode, Chloe Troast’s vocals get a chance to shine every episode or so. She’s a talent and I’m glad she got on SNL
The classic he will be in is DUNE!
I love how much they’re allowing Chloe to sing! It’s wonderful!
because we demand it! 🎉
I'd rather she say something funny
I mean it's SNL not AGT
Every time she sings she rattles the rafters and wows the crowd. She makes me gasp with awe.
That is a remarkable instrument she has, and they need to let her turn it loose. Maybe have her star in the next Mulaney-style musical sketch.
@@FerdinandCesarano I still can’t get over her Cass Elliott!!!
@@ml6820 - Right! She was brilliant. What a find she is.
Reese De’What’s intro has the same structure every time yet it always cracks me up
3:54 _"Tootie, no! There's a guy in there!"_
_"Not any more, there isn't!"_
Chloe looks exactly like Mary Astor. Brilliant makeup artists and costumers.
Seriously! Born at the wrong time! She would’ve killed it in Hollywoods Golden Era!
She is supposed to look like Judy Garland, but she looks more like Mary Astor.
I loved Meet Me in St. Louis as as kid.... I'm loving all these old references! Kate's humor always has a touch of dark emotion 😂😂
Rare name. Are u related to anyone in Indiana?
Bless Kate McKinnon I haven't laughed so hard at a skit in a long time. She deserves more than she gets! Her facial expressions kill me, lol. My favorite one of the night!
You can’t be serious
Most of these fan comments are bots, or work for the show.
No. Not funny.
This was the worst sketch of the week
Love how Reese De'What tells us and gives us insights into his best marriage fails 🤣🤣🤣
I love Reese De'WHAT! The Casablanca Cinema Classic is still one of my fave sketches.
Kenan saying he is Reese De'WHAT gets me every time
I feel like Chloe really looks like she could have been in a movie in the 40s or 50s. She just has the kind of face that was popular back then for actresses. I also love when they do the transatlantic accent. Its so funny how people talked like that back then.
Chloe is so damn funny. 3:20 - her change in facial expression after kate says Wizard of Oz was mid, is pure gold 😂
I've never seen MMISL, but Kate McKinnnon's facial expressions are so good, I could tell by the first couple of twitches that she was impersonating Margaret O'Brien!
Love me some Reese De'What commentary
Shout out to the production team! The dress, the placement/design of the snow men, the behind-the scenes story - perfection compared to what is in the film! 👏
Just in case you're wondering what the true story was... Director Vincent Minnelli claimed that he told little Margaret O'Brien (Tootie) that her dog was going to be killed. O'Brien, years later, said that he made up the story - what would really make her cry is when her mother would say if she couldn't cry, they would have to use the false tears instead (which O'Brien hated since it was unpleasant).
If you haven't seen "Meet Me in St. Louis," it is a real treat. Garland and O'Brien are wonderful in it!
I also heard a version of the story where Margaret O'Brien supposedly said they threatened to replace her with another child actress if she couldn't cry, and that her sense of competition pushed her to cry real tears.
@@jaimelubin6497 That's actually pulled from Margaret's recollection. It wasn't that she cried because of the competition; she was just mentioning that she & another actress were very well known as the criers on the lot (when it came to their onscreen performances). The fake tears that they would have to drop in her eye - those were what she was most upset about.
That's a horrible thing to do to a kid (or anyone)!
She hated the tears because they were pleasant?!
@@EricaMeeee The false tears they would apply to actresses and actors back in the day weren't the most comfortable thing in the world, Margaret said.
@TammyTuckey You mean unpleasant, not pleasant.
This is not why I'm here im a bad guesser 😂😂 he always kills his skits
Love she sings “White Christmas.” “When Garland sang “Have yourself a merry little Christmas.” (Which was written for Judy)
When Judy Garland sings that song I turn into a puddle. I also turn into a puddle during her performance of Dorothy's last monologue in The Wizard of Oz. Too sentimental I guess.
I get the joke, but child actors and actresses really were treated terribly on movie sets. Judy Garland was allegedly forced to smoke cigarettes on the set of The Wizard of Oz to keep her weight down. I just want to say that I feel disgusting just typing the phrase "to keep her weight down."
And she was forced to get an abortion. I'm pro-choice, but emphasis on "choice."
Man, that sounded cruel. This makes me feel glad now we’re in a society that is starting to focus more on reforming and cracking down on child labor laws to prevent others from going through the same experiences Judy Garland faced.
And they really did threaten to kill Jakie Cooper's dog to get him to cry.
“F you!” *whacks James* 😂
Chloe troast looked especially lovely in that dress!
There it is. Someone else knows the only reason why anyone would ever watch this sketch a second time.
That cut on the Wizard of Oz! So funny!
Chloe Troast is so amazingly talented! 🙌
I just went & rewatched the original scene … OH MY GOD… 1) they really traumatized that little girl & 2) lord help me, watching it again made this skit even funnier … hahahaha
This movie has to be the most fucked up non-horror/drama movie. Plus the Halloween scene
Wait...what? Did they actually do something similiar to the girl in that movie or...?
@@christofferjenzen78 Oh, sweety, ho watch this movie and then watch the trivia a out it. It is insane
@@christofferjenzen78 yes! The director and the mother told her the dog was dead or dying and the child is literally hysterical. Check out the clip …
@@hadawson72268 Really seems like child abuse, like the opposite of method acting. That is some monstruos directing. And even worse parenting, what the hell... These sketches aren't really a documentary so I thought it was just a goof.
You know, seeing Reese De'What was actually on my Christmas list. Thank you, Santa!
Chloe's singing voice though!
Chloe is very quickly becoming one of my favorite cast members
She is so annoying. Can’t stand her. Especially after the epitome of an annoying character she played last week. With the college president skit. That was complete and total bullshit by snl.
@@crystalbluebutterfly Go watch Little Orphan Cassidy. She's the new MVP
I agree 😊
Reese de'WHAT has to be one of my fave snl characters, utterly hilarious😂 Chloe has such an amazing voice and Kate is spot on, as always ❤
Chloe has an incredible singing voice. She’s so talented!
It’s a turbulent world. We NEED Reese DeWHAT and these SNL Cinema Classics--they’re spot on.
3:24 😂😂😂 “Show it in the movie!” God I miss Kate so much! It’s like she never left!
Kenan is and has been my favorite cast member for a long time
Love Chloe’s voice
The original lyrics for Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas were actually really depressing, so Judy Garland refused to sing them and said they'd make the little girl cry for real.
Chloe looks gorgeous in this skit, love her voice
I like how it’s just a weekly thing to have Chloe sing now
I like how they got Chloe singing like every episode, she's good at it
The thudding sound when she hits the snow😂
"White Christmas" wasn't in that movie. It was "Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas"...
But, Tootie did go out and destroy the snowmen in the movie after the song...
probs because Billie Elish did perform that specific song
@@user-ix1rp9ff3p True...
Chloe Troast is so good!!! i’m really happy that SNL is finally letting the new cast shine and get a chance to show off their talent
Fun fact: the original version started with "Have yourself a merry little Christmas. It will be your last" (last Christmas in St. Louis). It was too sad so they changed it.
because Billie Eilish already performed it as her musical number
I really appreciate how much the snowmen looked like the ones in mt me in St. Louis
Dang I just watched this with Grandma on TCM yesterday
Fun fact that IS what Margaret O'Briens mother did. Judy Garland hated filming this section especially with the original song lyrics...
We need a Kenan Compilation of all his best moments & one of every time he broke character.
Funny, Meet Me in St Louis was on TCM yesterday.
I was waiting for the return of Reese de what and his funny curtain 😂😂😂
Could they not get the rights to use "Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas?"
They already had it, Billie sang this earlier on the show
@@Parallelepiped2That's a dumb reason if true. They got so many other details right, but to change that aspect was just...dumb.
Uh…does no one else notice she’s singing the wrong song?
I’m assuming they couldn’t get the rights to it if it wasn’t in the public domain
Ah, the classic blood spurting Christmas sketch of SNL!
“Wizard of Oz was mid.”🤣
This ended me🤣🤣
Someone needs to save Reese De'What from his loveless marriage.
They did their homework, for the most part, regarding the details - it's amazing how accurately they recreated the snowmen! Except why is "Judy" singing "White Christmas," when, in the real movie, she sings "Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas...?"
I think she actually sang "Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas." Guessing perhaps a music rights issue?
Billie Eilish (the musical guest) sang "Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas" later in the show. Didn't want to repeat the song.
To mock white people and whiteness.
It's a shame the actress didn't even vaguely attempt to imitate Margaret O'Brien. 🤔
giving me flashbacks to lulu diamonds
“I feel like I could cry.”
“Euæh.”
Reese, you’ve been missed, man! Best part of the whole sketch!
The most unbelievable part of this skit in 2023 is that you can build snowmen in St. Louis.
The new girl in the cast - she sings so damn good!! Like too good. She should have a legit music career.
Growing with him on "all that" and seeing him on snl for so long he feels like an old friend
Anyone notice how Tootie runs away from the door and is seen down next lol😂😂
I actually did have a dog named Bruce and I still cry when I think of her.😢
I underestimated Chloe. She is taking the stage really well.
Literally looking for that exact red dress for bridesmaids! Help??
They should have used the correct song Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas ; there is no copyright issue as Billie just sang it earlier. The rest of the skit was pretty funny
I just saw the original in a theatre in STL the day before. The sketch was a hoot!
We love using Reece's line: I do not know, I am not a good guesser."
I have missed Reese De'What!!!! I love him so much.
Reece DeWhat! Bless you! ❤❤❤
Meet Me in St. Louis is a great movie, but it's also batshit insane, especially Halloween section
That Kate is fantastic. They ought to put her in the cast.
😂😂😂
Chloe Troast deserves the most! She’s a gem
Chloe’s singing gives me Jenna Maroney vibes in the best possible way
"Bruce, where are you, Bruce? Try to bark. Give me a clue, Bruce."
Always enjoy when Kenan shows up as Reese De'What- and always a Snarky Joke about his Wife that often is underappreciated
Still am waiting for the day when we actually see Reese's wife and she's either played by current cast member Ego Nwodim or Leslie Jones in a surprise cameo.
The amount of times I say, “I am a bad guesser” in a day since this character first appeared is astounding. 😂
James should have gone full panic for his "there's a guy in there!" delivery. I think it would have put this over the top
lol it’s have yourself a merry lil Xmas not The song she sang
Great Gibson Girl hair on Ms Troast, and wonderful voice as always. They got the song wrong of course...should have been the last line of "Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas" but that would have stepped on Billie Eilish's performance later I suppose.
Quirky Lala with the scrunchies ❤️
DE'WHAT 😂🎉😂
God dammit I need Chloe to make a Christmas album right now her voice is absolutely insane her tone on the word bright brought tears to my eyes
Kate McKinnon at Christmas was a great gift
Watch this movie every christmas, its my mom's favorite
why nobody talking about how james austin johnson looking like a young king charles here
I like how they kept the camera on Kate even after the scenes ended so she had to continue fake crying after pausing twice 😂
I would have loved a cameo by Leslie Jones as the wife at the end of the skit! 😊😅
Well, that skit was stupid BUT in the actual film I always thought the character of the little girl was a total psycho. She was crazy (the character) and her behavior was unbalanced and disturbing. Not at all charming or endearing. They let a little girl walk alone in the street at night on Halloween? Really? Even then? Then she went ballistic and destroyed the snow family. She talked about blood spurting more than once in that role. She needed help and her narcissistic and vain older sisters treated her like the house cat. I still liked the movie but the little girl character needed an intervention.
And they did tell her that her dog died to get her to cry.
I watched Meet Me in St. Louis recently and it's one f***ed up film.
The Halloween scenes are, as you say, very disturbing.
The kids behave like hooligans.
It's being shown on BBC TWO this Thursday (22/12/2023) at 1pm.
Check it out if you haven't seen it recently and are in the UK.
The whole Halloween segment is insane. They just let the neighborhood children run around, tear up yards and furniture, and build a fucking lit pyre in the middle of the street while also harassing random people. And Trudy tries to fuckinf derail a train and falsely accuses a guy of assaulting her and everyone just treats it like the funniest thing in the world

the way most of this is just what happened😂
Mike De What was suppose to say "Worse answer ever!" After his response to his wife but i guess the writers forgot about the previous sketches
WHAT ARE YOU DOING TOOTI, THERE'S A GUY IN THERE!
The way this tracks with Tootie’s character so accurately 😂
What a wonderful voice the new cast member has
"Who cares about St. Louis?"
I live twenty minutes from St. Louis, and that's how I imagine the rest of the country talks about us.
Can confirm. St Louis native who fled after my 18th birthday and only returns to see family. I still root for the Cardinals, of course. I’m not a heathen.
Also from St. Louis and those are my exact sentiments re: the Cardinals and the city 😅🤷🏾♀️
My dog is named Bruce so this was way funnier for me
I love when dogs have people names like that.
'Raise the skirt' dialogue lol 😂😂😂😂
Snl should bring back those musical parody sketches just for Chloe
