The moon and Melancholia shining in unison together like two beautiful celestial sisters, gracing the same night sky A really beautiful and emotional scene and film
beautiful scene but at the same time very frightening and creepy. If you ever saw that for real it would scare the shit out me...I'll be honest. You know somethings not right. THe Moon is staying put but you know the other blue planet is not. It's moving and your not sure if you are going to be in it's path.
Literally the opening scene of the movie is of melancholia crashing into the earth, so no shit you "just knew". You didn't spot some hidden message or something, it's literally the whole point of that being the opening scene, because Lars Von Trier didn't want people spending the whole film wondering whether or not the planet would crash into earth, he wanted everyone to know it was a sure thing, so that you can focus on what the film is _actually_ about (depression)
Since the moon affects the earth from its distance, I wonder if Melancholia ( if this was real ) from this distance would be able to affect the earth as well?
Not to be rude but dude this is a whole f**king planet 25x bigger than the moon so, of course it would affect the Earth ( yeah it has a mass way bigger that the moon) but in a very very very negative way and I mean in a all life wiped out on Earth way.
@@gus4446 a planet of that size at the same distance of the moon would be DEVASTATING on our planet, it would magnify the tides along with the Moon and it cause global earthquakes which would then set off volcanic eruptions
The thing that amazed me about this film is that there wasn't that much panic at the wedding, humans would have know that a planet of that size would collide with earth years or even decades beforehand.
+ChiefRepublic Thank You. But do you remember this scene: cdn2.spiegel.de/images/image-216019-galleryV9-sfnn.jpg The planet here is on the left, the moon might be in the middle...but what is that thing on the right?

I love how the camera is hand-held during this scene.
A hauntingly beautiful scene!
It was after this
When the second planet came into view, I just knew they were screwed. I've seen Melancholia so much that I mime the lines with the characters.

It has to be affecting the earth. This was a planet way way bigger than the moon.
@@nassarhill3521 Tbf everyone would die wayyyy before Melancholia actually collided with earth. Earth would be ripped apart.
@@realbabyeater It depends how fast the planet is going,

Luna and Hades.
She goes to the shore of the river Styx and entices Hades to cross it.
This film is a hidden message of Planet X AKA Nibiru AKA Nemesis the brown dwarf star constellation.
williamwallace1307 what?
williamwallace1307 its a brown shit
frank serum I know you meant star but to be a 1st rate idiot, you need to do a little better.
Think that would scare the shit out of you or what? Scary fucking movie!

So uh our moon does melencholia take that after it destroys earth
Which one is the moon and which one the deadly planet? What is the meaning of this scene? Anyone knows?
+Jan W. The moon is on the left. The planet is the blue one on the right.

+Jan W. they each represent the celestial bodies ahead of them. Dark to light. It's the sun.
Ja W. The blue one is the planet... they're going to the right side... to death
8bitbacon they aren’t the sun though. They both represent which is which. The moon is the left. Nibiru on the right.
Oof
At the very least, there would be daily mega tsunamis. Silly film.
There are other perspectives to life than a scientific one.
Да, поистине, ужасающая картина
