    James J. Reeves Esquire, interesting...prior to this I watched a video of Administrative Results breaking down a $500.00 PSA AR. The contrasts are stark. The final results are similar. Rounds on target and reliability. Pretty sure that if the operator is not a government entity, most buyers of this platform will hang it and brag.

    AR15 parts are "artificially inexpensive because of volume"? Isn't supply (ie volume) and demand, like, the cornerstone of capitalism? He's actually right that ARs in the US are cheaper than they would normally be simply due to a massive amount of competition from so many manufacturers. "Artificial" may not be the best word, but there's a reason that modern military weapons all cost roughly $2,000 and a premium AR costs roughly $2,000 _BUT_ a cheap AR can be had. A cheap AUG or Bren doesnt exist.
      Now, the HB itself is higher than it should be because we see those premium ARs $1,000 cheaper than a HB.

      because of supply and demand the price goes up and down. I haven't looked in a while, but I've seen it between 2500 and 3500 depending on the economy, their production cycle, whether there was a promotion, or they sold it in a package with other desirable items.
      (i just looked it up, it's 2999$ on their website... at my local dealer linked from the silencer shop it's 2899, but that's with them paying for the tax stamp from the government, so you're getting an additional 200$ value there... so 2699$ without that, at Baur precision's website, they're selling the SD version for 3399$ with the silencer, so that's an additional 1000$ value, since the cans, on sale are about 800$, plus the stamp, $200).
      Let's compare that to the Rattler, the Honeybadger's direct competition (slightly less smoothness, more weight, but a little tougher), and the going price on most sources I can find is: 2699$, but that's without the sbr tax paid, so essentially the same price as the honeybadger... to the dime.

    It's like when a war movie says "inspired by real world events" but then tries to play it off like it actually happened even though the script was 99% fictitious.

    Basically the military wanted something better than a short barreled AR 15 in 300 Blackout, so they contracted this outfit to supply them with a new gun. Improving on the AR15 is very difficult, so they focused on making incremental improvements in weight (and maybe accuracy?). In order to justify the military contract it had to be proprietary parts and not just “another AR15.” The military got what it wanted, a significantly more expensive gun with maybe marginal improvements. If you’re a civilian who can’t afford it, well “it sucks to be poor.” And while that’s kind of a snotty attitude, the people who are going to be inclined to buy this are people who are buying snotty gratification, who have about as much smart sense as the government when it procured contracts.

    I was all in, but after Ian's video from forgotten weapons not long ago, he basically said its not really viable to use it with supers as the recoil and back pressure is too much, also that you would need a second optic zeroed for the supers vs the subs. The whole concept to me seeemed cool that you could instantly swap between supers and subs, but it seems like thats not practical or that useful? Also that you couldnt mount stuff on the rail further out if the integrated suppressor model had the extended handguard, and it got real hot to hold out there. Also I think you would need different buffer weights or gas system setups to swap IIRC, so it doesnt seem like a quick swap at all. So yes, cool, unique, and specialized. But is it the go to for any random person needing a .300 blackout short suppressed gun? Probably not.

    • @ALovelyBunchOfDragonballz
      @ALovelyBunchOfDragonballz 10 месяцев назад +4

      There's no way to properly cycle supers and subs in the same gun without an adjustable block. Best example of where else this happens is autoloading shotguns, most that are pleasant with buckshot but wont reliably cycle bird shot.
      As for 2 optics, that issue has been solved a long time ago. Any BDC reticle can be doped out to make hits with both, you just need to put the groups on paper. Youd have the same issue with every other calibers, just most other calibers dont have that high of bullet weight and velocity differences.
      Overall the complaints are well known and already solved or settled.

    • @s.simm93
      @s.simm93 10 месяцев назад

      @@ALovelyBunchOfDragonballz I've assembled four .300blks and they all ran supers and subs fine with non-adjustable gas blocks. If adding a can subs cycle a bit more reliably too due to the added back pressure. Yes the gun may be gassy without an adjustable gas block but it will function reliably and have one less fail point. That being said an adjustable gas block is probably a great addition to fine tune the recoil.
      To the original comment, if you shoot your specific supers and subs enough you'll learn the ballistic differences. Typically subs aren't very effective past 100m due to them having about the same terminal ballistics as a pistol round which wildly vary based on bullet tech.. In my experience it is best to zero for your supers, which you'd more than likely use for longer shots, and learn the offset of your subs. Also with subs being less effective at longer ranges, your holds under 100m may not be dissimilar enough between supers and subs to matter if you're primarily shooting the subs in close.
      Currently I own a 10" 300blk that is my "camp gun" I can use it with subs for hunting without the neighbors getting crappy and I can run supers if a bear rolls in and gets feisty or if I want to take some longer (relative to the cartage), more ethical shots hunting. Its also super handy jumping in and out of vehicles and would be great for CQB/quiet close engagements. Obviously a good fighting 5.56 gun should come first but .300blk is a viable platform.
      All of this is just from my experience with 300blk so mileage may vary.

    • @ALovelyBunchOfDragonballz
      @ALovelyBunchOfDragonballz 10 месяцев назад

      @@s.simm93 I said properly for a reason. If the gun cycles supers properly then it'll lazily cycle subs if at all, and ifnit cycles subs properly it'll be overgassed with supers, there just no way around that problem. A 300BLK gun should be more than capable of cycling both, but not both _properly_ without some form of gas tuning. Even if the tuning is as simple as "subs with a can and supers with a bare muzzle", some tuning is required.

I've always been in the boat that an over gassed gun is better than under gassed so I've never really gotten bent out of shape about my 300blk guns being too gassy because even when they are 100% reliable the extra gas really isn't that bad. I get that some people nerd out about that stuff though. I just like the KISS mentality, which I get from just running a fixed gas black and sending it. Like I mentioned mileage may vary and I respect and understand your opinion too!

I intended to mostly shoot cheap supers for practice and reload empty cases into subs, but my extractor mangling the rims and I have ejector marks. Subs eject lazily at ~4oclock and look great, but until I get the gas sorted out it'll keep tearing up supers. Cycles them well enough I suppose, really throws them out with some authority.
