"Dispersion" is probably a better word for describing the variation of projectile impact points than "accuracy". A sub-MOA group high & right of the bullseye had minimal "dispersion", but isn't "accurate". I can see why a firearm manufacturer might use terms like dispersion, spread, or MOA to describe the performance of their firearms instead of accuracy.

A lot of it is interchangeable. What are you most concerned about breaking? Usually first parts to go are extractors, gas rings, barrels etc. The entire bcg can be swapped to a milsepc bcg without issue. The buffer and stick assembly is the proprietary part but you could still remove all that and install a standard milsepc buffer and tube. AR15 parts are "artificially inexpensive because of volume"? Isn't supply (ie volume) and demand, like, the cornerstone of capitalism? Would I be mad if someone gave me one of these? Absolutely not, seems cool. But I see no reason to buy one for myself.
He's actually right that ARs in the US are cheaper than they would normally be simply due to a massive amount of competition from so many manufacturers. "Artificial" may not be the best word, but there's a reason that modern military weapons all cost roughly $2,000 and a premium AR costs roughly $2,000 _BUT_ a cheap AR can be had. A cheap AUG or Bren doesnt exist. Now, the HB itself is higher than it should be because we see those premium ARs $1,000 cheaper than a HB.

because of supply and demand the price goes up and down. I haven't looked in a while, but I've seen it between 2500 and 3500 depending on the economy, their production cycle, whether there was a promotion, or they sold it in a package with other desirable items. (i just looked it up, it's 2999$ on their website... at my local dealer linked from the silencer shop it's 2899, but that's with them paying for the tax stamp from the government, so you're getting an additional 200$ value there... so 2699$ without that, at Baur precision's website, they're selling the SD version for 3399$ with the silencer, so that's an additional 1000$ value, since the cans, on sale are about 800$, plus the stamp, $200). Let's compare that to the Rattler, the Honeybadger's direct competition (slightly less smoothness, more weight, but a little tougher), and the going price on most sources I can find is: 2699$, but that's without the sbr tax paid, so essentially the same price as the honeybadger... to the dime.

The real reason the honey badger is better than the ar-15 is because it looks like an ar-15 but it lacks all of the aftermarket support that the ar-15 has, which is why it's so popular. Also, with it being all proprietary, Q is the only company offering support for the rifle. It's like when a war movie says "inspired by real world events" but then tries to play it off like it actually happened even though the script was 99% fictitious. But I'm not going to lie, this does look like an interesting platform and I might actually buy one; preferably used.
Exactly. Since they make all the parts on the gun, they can guarantee reliability. The only problem with that is there are AR-15 manufacturers like Daniel Defense that do the same thing but are also compatible with aftermarket AR-15 parts, making this a very niche gun indeed.
"An AR-15 is artificially inexpensive because of volume" is an incredible quote. That's literally the whole point of the industrial revolution and there's nothing artificial about it. It's how humans have evolved for millennia. We went from foraging to farming, hunting to husbandry. All in the name of procuring more at a lower cost to us all. There's nothing wrong with bespoke or custom things for people with enough disposable income to purchase them, but don't shit on what, arguably, is humankind's most incredible achievement - a higher standard of living.
I can absolutely guarantee you can build a better, less proprietary, less expensive weapon that fills the same niche as this thing. Its overpriced, overly difficult to source replacement parts for, and the mismatched finishes are ugly. That last one is just me though. The only real positives are the familiar manual of arms and the weight.
I built 2 Dirt Squirrels and a 1,000 rounds of 300 Backout and 10 30rd magazines for less than the Honey Badger and I love Dual weilding them. He took an AR platform and changed it just enough to make it "proprietary" and only he can sell you parts. I'm still trying to figure out how you can't build the same thing with lightweight parts.
Basically the military wanted something better than a short barreled AR 15 in 300 Blackout, so they contracted this outfit to supply them with a new gun. Improving on the AR15 is very difficult, so they focused on making incremental improvements in weight (and maybe accuracy?). In order to justify the military contract it had to be proprietary parts and not just “another AR15.” The military got what it wanted, a significantly more expensive gun with maybe marginal improvements. If you’re a civilian who can’t afford it, well “it sucks to be poor.” And while that’s kind of a snotty attitude, the people who are going to be inclined to buy this are people who are buying snotty gratification, who have about as much smart sense as the government when it procured contracts.
Best part is the Military didn't even go for it, he's just hoping ignorant people with too much money hear SOCOM and think it's somehow better, but isn't

@@s.simm93 I love the little thing. Now, money is not really an issue, so I'd at least be tempted to spend the big bucks. The only issue I have with the Honey Badger is the recoil. That thing is not soft and gentle like an AR should be, it bounces around like a three hundred dollar blowback.

*"Proprietary" is always a word that worries me.* When it breaks it's expensive and hard to find a replacement. I have my own 300 BLK "honey badger" and I think mine is the best too! 😂😂😂
I was all in, but after Ian's video from forgotten weapons not long ago, he basically said its not really viable to use it with supers as the recoil and back pressure is too much, also that you would need a second optic zeroed for the supers vs the subs. The whole concept to me seeemed cool that you could instantly swap between supers and subs, but it seems like thats not practical or that useful? Also that you couldnt mount stuff on the rail further out if the integrated suppressor model had the extended handguard, and it got real hot to hold out there. Also I think you would need different buffer weights or gas system setups to swap IIRC, so it doesnt seem like a quick swap at all. So yes, cool, unique, and specialized. But is it the go to for any random person needing a .300 blackout short suppressed gun? Probably not.
There's no way to properly cycle supers and subs in the same gun without an adjustable block. Best example of where else this happens is autoloading shotguns, most that are pleasant with buckshot but wont reliably cycle bird shot. As for 2 optics, that issue has been solved a long time ago. Any BDC reticle can be doped out to make hits with both, you just need to put the groups on paper. Youd have the same issue with every other calibers, just most other calibers dont have that high of bullet weight and velocity differences. Overall the complaints are well known and already solved or settled.
@@ALovelyBunchOfDragonballz I've assembled four .300blks and they all ran supers and subs fine with non-adjustable gas blocks. If adding a can subs cycle a bit more reliably too due to the added back pressure. Yes the gun may be gassy without an adjustable gas block but it will function reliably and have one less fail point. That being said an adjustable gas block is probably a great addition to fine tune the recoil. To the original comment, if you shoot your specific supers and subs enough you'll learn the ballistic differences. Typically subs aren't very effective past 100m due to them having about the same terminal ballistics as a pistol round which wildly vary based on bullet tech.. In my experience it is best to zero for your supers, which you'd more than likely use for longer shots, and learn the offset of your subs. Also with subs being less effective at longer ranges, your holds under 100m may not be dissimilar enough between supers and subs to matter if you're primarily shooting the subs in close. Currently I own a 10" 300blk that is my "camp gun" I can use it with subs for hunting without the neighbors getting crappy and I can run supers if a bear rolls in and gets feisty or if I want to take some longer (relative to the cartage), more ethical shots hunting. Its also super handy jumping in and out of vehicles and would be great for CQB/quiet close engagements. Obviously a good fighting 5.56 gun should come first but .300blk is a viable platform. All of this is just from my experience with 300blk so mileage may vary.
@@s.simm93 I said properly for a reason. If the gun cycles supers properly then it'll lazily cycle subs if at all, and ifnit cycles subs properly it'll be overgassed with supers, there just no way around that problem. A 300BLK gun should be more than capable of cycling both, but not both _properly_ without some form of gas tuning. Even if the tuning is as simple as "subs with a can and supers with a bare muzzle", some tuning is required.
@@ALovelyBunchOfDragonballz I guess we can be autists about it haha. I've always been in the boat that an over gassed gun is better than under gassed so I've never really gotten bent out of shape about my 300blk guns being too gassy because even when they are 100% reliable the extra gas really isn't that bad. I get that some people nerd out about that stuff though. I just like the KISS mentality, which I get from just running a fixed gas black and sending it. Like I mentioned mileage may vary and I respect and understand your opinion too!
@@s.simm93 I thought the same thing until I finally put supers through mine. The gas in the face is awful and my guns tearing up cases. I intended to mostly shoot cheap supers for practice and reload empty cases into subs, but my extractor mangling the rims and I have ejector marks. Subs eject lazily at ~4oclock and look great, but until I get the gas sorted out it'll keep tearing up supers. Cycles them well enough I suppose, really throws them out with some authority.

Just sold the HB SD to a customer and did some testing. It’s very well made but the chamber tolerance is way too tight. After 100rds it WILL fail….once that chamber gets any fouling it will fail to go into battery fully and the new rd will get stuck in the chamber and will take significant force on the charging handle to retract. They need to ream out the chamber a thousands or so to increase reliability.

A sub-MOA group high & right of the bullseye had minimal "dispersion", but isn't "accurate". I can see why a firearm manufacturer might use terms like dispersion, spread, or MOA to describe the performance of their firearms instead of accuracy.

In the end, it’s a Semi-custom. I can build a bad ass home brew for half. Especially right now. I get it that R&D costs money. It does. There is no doubt about it. My safes would say maybe not, so whatever. They sell enough that my sale won’t be missed. So neither of us really care. Thanks for the infomercial James.

You're exactly right. When he started with this 'artifically expensive' thing I laughed. What the hell!?!

I can't take a company named Q seriously.
Kevin is so unlikable
I brought my Q Honey Badger SBR home last week and despite what most here are saying, this gun is everything told here, and more. Granted, Ive only put about 1200 rounds thru it so far, but it hasn’t had a single hiccup yet, all with my hand loads (which I trust more than factory ammo). My only regret is not buying one sooner.
Q has a certain level of arrogance about them.
I'll happily give my money to CGS.
Yeah they are snobs. Act like they are gods
It comes off as arrogance, it's just brutal honesty that doesn't care about your feelings...lol
Matches the average AR owner.
Does cgs have a honey badger ?
Kevin and Q show supreme confidence coupled with success and prosperity, backed by long term and repeated high-level accomplishments un-tempered by false modesty. This turns a lot of people against Q. Many people cannot stand to be around a man who does not put on a show of being humble.
As someone who can afford a honey badger, this is a great video convincing me that it is 100% not worth the money.
Did this guy seriously just say that AR15s are artificially inexpensive because so many people make parts????? Like, ok? Is the floor made out of floor too?
This guy has pretty much single handedly guaranteed that I will never buy a Q product
Badass gun, very knowledgable founder
Every time I give Kevin a chance to not be terrible he is, time and time again jesus
I get quite a bit of "Navy SEALS designed boutique watch"vibe, while the actual guys on the teams wear G-Sshocks....
For 99% of people they're going to be better off just building a 300BLK AR.
Its people like you who think you're being sensible that give up easy money. 99% of people are the least profitable to cater too. Aka Walmart. But the 1%? That's literally free money. Louis Vuitton, hermes, print money.
I still think 300 and 8.6 are brain rot dumb tard calibers. Why man what is the point what us the point
Dude saying “proprietary” like it’s a good thing.
So you're saying all the ones they have produced have failed?
Lol i shot 200 rounds one day if you ride the bolt that happens but really thats with any supressed AR lol if you just let it send home its all good nothing a lil lube wont fix 🤘🏽
@@ReynaR713 🙄 we weren’t “riding” the bolt. This is happening during cycling. We have tested many ARs with cans that go way longer without stopages compared to this gun.
@@aquilaarsenal wtf never had that happened during cycling fingers crossed 🤞 lol dam well shit idk guess i had a good batch 😂
I have no use for an AR that can’t make it through at least 210 rds (standard combat load out) without cleaning or lubing the gun during that timeframe. And yes we cleaned the chamber out and sprayed some clp and it ran again but that’s not enough reliably for me for that cost. But hey if you like the HB by all means use it.
Take a shot every time he says dispersion.
Way too early to get that sh!t faced.
_"It's got a good SPREAD!"_ 🤣
@@DTreatz I read that in Bill Burrs Voice LOL
Flip flopas in a factory woof
This guy would try to sell you a shit shake, and tell you it tastes like chocolate.
Meanwhile, warfare has long since shifted to cheap drones with grenades. “Check out this really expensive musket”
How to insult people who can buy your products into NOT buying your products. I have money to buy this, I'm a Marine Corps veteran. But I would never buy it. Insulting the gun community and essentially calling them peasants doesn't make me want to give Innovative Q LLC my money ever... There are better companies, with better customer service, with less arrogance.
The more this guy talks the less I ever want to buy any of his companies products.
"I used to be broke too. Then I started selling 300blk pistols for 3,000 bucks that only cost us 700 to build"
Imagining ANYTHING Q makes is a superior product 😂
April first came a little early for TFB.
The type of guy that smells his own farts and think it smells like lilacs. I just watched Forgotten weapons' interview with Mike from Gideon Optics, what a contrast.
since some AR's are 1/2 moa, the claim that this thing is 100x more accurate is obviously a lie. It cant even be twice as accurate and nobody is more accurate in the field than a good AR is. Does this thing have night sights? .22lr conversion unit? Different riflling twists.? Different barrel lengths and diameters? Does it have a chromed chamber? Can it be had as a stripped lower? can it be had as an 80% finished part? If the answer to any of those questions is "no". then it is NOT better than AR. In fact, it's not NEARLY as good.
Not simping, but what AR's do you know that are 1/2" moa with a 9" barrel?
@@AndrewDasilvaPLT this thing aint that accurate, either, believe it.
@@AndrewDasilvaPLT this thing aint that accurate, either, believe it. Nobody is, in the field, with anything and you dont need to be, either. Also, 223 aint got enough power and range for even 1 MOA to make any difference vs 2 MOA, much less for 1/2 MOA to make any difference. You dont need to dot his eye at 300m, just hit his 6" head. That's 2 MOA.
This is called hyperbole not a lie. 100X more accurate is an affectionate use of hyperbole by the weapons creator.
@@lordhuck2689 what you mean is "bs to try to sell a ridiculously overpriced, specialized gun."
Cuz Kevin said so
So Q is like an iPhone in the cell phone market?
Uhhhh yes. They do genuinely offer some good products, but overall its far too much hype and smugness.
It’s hard to compare Q to an iPhone. The ecosystem of the iPhone and the honeybadger’s proprietary parts are where the similarities start and end. iPhone has the price of a Ferrari and the marketshare of a Honda civic. I know several women who won’t even consider dating a man who doesn’t own an iPhone. Crazy, imo.
Did he actually say ar15 are artificially cheaper because of volume? 😂
Didn’t realize I’m watching the extended cut of Catalinaville
I got a DD. MK18 Upper on top of a DPMS Lower, and a Tac-Con trigger, runs perfectly and I love it!
Nothing is more arrogant than the way he speaks of the MP5. With the right ammo, they are incredibly accurate.
I'd argue with any ammo, unfortunately they can have spent brass get stuck inside the lower receiver rendering them useless in a critical situation. This is why I will not use any MP5 or clone for any serious purpose, and why I sold mine.
Mp5s are not modern they just look tacticool. Theyre antuquated their engineering gets in the way kinda junk too very expensive
Proprietary means you’re stuck with 1 option. Mil-spec means never ending options. Seems like they’re trying to fix something that was never broken. Intentionally making “proprietary” parts with only mark up being the justification and not a necessity.
