Schumi was not only crying because of that. Senna died in front of him while racing at imola.
    Edit:
Let me clarify something for everyone as it doesn't seem to be so. I didn't state in the above comment that this interview happened right after the race as it was held in 2000 (Senna died in 94). Schumi reacted like this due to breaking another record of Senna whom he's quite fond of, if you do a bit of research into his early career. I didn't mean to confuse or offend anybody with the above comment and sorry if it wasn't straight forward for everyone. I merely tried to show some sympathy.

I think Imola 2003 was also very emotional. Schumacher's mother have passed away just a few hours before the race, and both Schumachers had a tough race but they managed to race well, Michael won the grand prix, and Ralf finished 4th. Michael then did take part in the podium ceremony (obviously in a solid way, he nearly cried), but then in the press conference after the race, in the name of him Jean Todt gave the interviews.

There’s an awful lot of recency bias for a video whose title includes “of all time”
It’s also worth mentioning that the big part of why Schumacher was so emotional was because he was racing Senna when Senna died. Mika was on the podium with him for that race as well. Also, moments after that clip ends, Ralf did put his arm around his brother.

the closest i have ever been to any car sport is a norwegian game called "flåklypa grand prix" it was a realy popular game back in the day in norway featuring a lot of characters from the norwegian kid movie that had the same name (it hold the top spot for most watched movie of all time for like 40+ years in norway showing how popular it was here) and its a movie adults can realy easly enjoy to.

There are much more emotional moments.
Lauda returning 41 days, after beeing burned alive and getting 4th place.
Michaels (would be) pole from Monaco 2012
All the live aired accidents.... just saying, there are so many more, could be a 10 part series.

Senna winning in interlagos was emotional, but to me, what was above that, was the race he gave up, to help another driver who had an accident. putting himself at risk to do what he could for another.

For me forever will be Charles 1st win be at Monza 2019 … As Charles said in Spa… this one is for Anthoine … Unbelievable how much Charles had to cope with in 5 years 2014 Jules crash coma for months then his passing still probably racing during that time then 2017 losing his dad but then 3 days later he wins the f2 feature race and then winning his 1st win a day after Anthoine passed away he has such a mental strength its unbelievable and even under pressure he can perform winning Monza twice and finally winning Monaco… hopefully next year he gets that Championship not just for Ferrari or us Tifosi but for everything he had to go through in his still young life

Losing drivers is never easy ...it took the fun out of racing for me by 2004 ...losing all my heros Senna then Dale then the awful NOT knowing how Michael Shumacher is actually doing to this day .
I Dont want to see anyone die or hurt anymore .
But i will say Hamilton has a huge problem ahead at Ferrari.
When shumacher went there he also brought half if not ALL of his old benetton team ..they basically just changed uniform then worked on the car for 3 years before the 2000 dominant era started ...i know cause i was THAT FAN .
Hamilton has who else going to Ferrari with him ????
    Yeah .

no one really knows how the 2026 regulations will develop, its literally more or less a coinflip. Up until now Hamilton made the best choices he couldve done in his career, so maybe he saw something that was worth his time.

I will forever blame the FIA for Hubert's death. It was an inevatible result of F1's runoff instead of gravel obsession. Just like the dutch driver last year. Also i can't stand how they say Leclerc's motivation was the reason he won. We all know it was an illegal engine after all. Without the engine cheat we wouldn't say: He won cause the death of his friend motivated him. Nice way of covering cheating. Very respectfull towards Hubert aswell.

Because nobody should be shown a deadly crash unwittingly. If you really want to see it (I've seen it, it's not pretty, don't want to see it again) you can find it - but I would recommend you don't.

  • @herstoryanimated

Does anyone else remember a crash (I can't seem to find any evidence of it having happened, and I swear I didn’t dream it) probably between absolute earliest 2000 and latest 2014, on or near a straight with high walls (pretty sure Monaco). I remember around six cars being involved (though I think most were minor with only a couple with more damage), there was an absolute tonne of smoke- obscuring the cars that had crash and someone came through at speed (I guess they missed the flags as I'm sure a couple of cars had slowed for it and picked their way through carefully) and hit one of the cars, possible getting air time. I swear Mark Webber was one of the drivers involved, and possibly Eddie Irvine (though definitely at the end of his career, possibly even only as a substitute driver). Possibly Alonso as well. No drivers were seriously injured (as far as I remember no one had more than pretty minor injuries). I remember the commentator saying how terrible the place was to try to get the people and cars out of due to the walls.
I can only seem to find similar crashes, that parts of this match but not completely. I'm certain I'm not mashing up multiple race crashes, as I wasn't really watching F1 at the time, and it was a one-off race I happened to catch after not watching for at least a year (I grew up with it every Sunday, as my family are F1 fans), and I didn't really watch any after either (I'd reached an age I could choose to do other things instead).
I only started to question it happening because I saw some crash compilations more recently and it wasn't there, then I remembered it and had a look to see what went down again, because I remembered it being pretty wild to watch (but also that no one was particularly badly hurt).
Any suggestions? Or am I more insane than I realised?
