To live forever, eat one 12 ounce serving of ice cream at 7:22 p.m. each and every day. Miss one day... all bets are off. No one has yet to debunk this theory.
Almost forgot, it HAS to be plain vanilla... no other flavor will do.

I wish you had pointed out more about WHY life expectancy has increased. Infant mortality has plummeted, hygiene has improved, and many contagious diseases are being vaccinated away. This needs to be said to prevent people from thinking we only lived to about 45, rather than 45 ON AVERAGE.

4:37 I've never really liked "life expectancy at birth" as a statistic when talking about maximum life expectancy. 150 years ago, people frequently lived into their 70s IF they lived past early childhood. Improvement in infant mortality is what that line on that chart really shows. Once you strip out deaths that happened before the age of 5, the difference between now and 100 years ago is only ~5-10 years in most developed countries not ~30 years.

    • @nulian

Immortality would be boring, however, being immortal to the point of natural causes would be pretty fun. If I could still get sick and die, or suffer from bad luck, that leaves life to be exciting and challenging. It would almost be like a video game character. Sure, the story might end, but as long as I never get killed by something, I can keep playing.

We die because of sin by way of disobedience of Adam to God. In the scriptures, genesis 2:17, God gives Adam all that is necessary for life in the garden and he is in perfect relationship with God made in His image and gives him purpose and instruction with one command, to not eat from the tree of good and evil. The moment Adam are from the tree in Gen.3:17 sin entered the world and affected every human being for years to come along with death and disease as you spoke about in this video. The beautiful part about all of this is death is not something that should be feared because Jesus Christ the messiah died once for all of us so that we have the opportunity to restore our relationship with God and live eternally when He returns. I use to fear death and though I don’t welcome it As my own timing I’m open to it whenever that time comes because of the salvation I have in Christ and because my sins have been forgiven I confidently believe that when I die I will live again with Christ in a new immortal incorruptible body

The most possible way for currently technology is by uploading our conciousness and download it in some new formed body (or Machine). although this is not fully tested yet, but this idea is the best so far. Because we Understand Physics more than Bio. But My personal thinking is that, we are not immortal by that way, because it is like "Cut" function on computer, which is copy and paste but delete the first data. Mean we have to die to immortal (sounds like Interstellar's Quote).

So, theoretically, if we were to evolve into a race of humans that lived for hundreds of years, we'd have to live in a relatively safe environment. We'd have to be safe from outside dangers, like predators and viruses, but also safe from each other and conflicts that might escalate to violence or risky behavior. We'd also presumably have to evolve to be sexually fertile at later ages, or at least provide some social benefit to offspring at later ages.
Of course, this is all assuming that this sort of biological evolution could happen in less time than it takes for technological evolution to produce a sort of engineered immortality.

    • @sk8rdman
      @sk8rdman 7 лет назад +1

I have not seen the movie you speak of, but I believe I know of it. My understanding is that movie is about a futuristic society in which humans have developed a means to prolong their lives indefinitely, but that is not what I'm talking about here.
I'm talking about humans evolving biologically through natural selection, as we have for millions of years, into a longer lived race; not immortal, but able to live long natural lives, for hundreds of years. Something akin to Dwarves or Elves in certain fantasy lores.

    • @cassius573

The next step of human evolution will be through genetics engineering, it has already started and there is no stopping it. In time, some scientist will figure out how to prevent telomere shortening, reduce oxidative damage to cells and even effectively cure cancer. Not to mention mimic genes of species that are immune to cancer so it no longer has to be a concern. Regarding the brain, I foresee some kind of technology implant that makes you think faster, better memory, etca, effectively turning us into cyborgs. It may not happen in your lifetime or mine, but it is inevitable. Humans broke the meta

    That's not how averages work.
Life expectancy from birth has gone up because people stopped dying young, not because people started dying old. Life expectancy for a 15-year-old was ~70 years for pretty much all of history. The average was brought down to 40 by child deaths.

I think you guys have "life expectancy at birth" and "lifespan" a tad confused. "Life expectancy at birth" has historically been very low due to infant and child mortality (pre-vaccinations etc). If someone could make it past childhood, they could quite reasonably have a long lifespan, counterbalancing the very low age at death of the individuals who died sadly young, and averaging out at 35 or 40 or whatever. So, no, our genes would have no reason to be optimized for us to live fast and die young (I assume what you mean by our genes "assuming" anything). Socrates lived to be 71, and Plato made it to 80, although life expectancy at birth in Classical Greece was in the 20s. Want farther back? Even Wiki says re the Palaeolithic, "Based on the data from recent hunter-gatherer populations, it is estimated that at 15, life expectancy was an additional 39 years (total 54), with a 0.60 probability of reaching 15."
C'mon, guys... do your homework. You can do better than this. Any argument based on mistakenly applied stats is pointless.

What if we made another fitting organ to make all types of cells including immune cells and telomere proteins when the telomeres on a chromosome got short ? And this new organ addition would even make cells from what's consumable (eating) is it possible this could help humans live longer?

Bit basic on the details but essentially right. There is no evolutionary pressure beyond making sure we reproduce.
And it could be argued that since we are herd animals, operating on a group mind mentality most of the time, that older people would lessen our evolutionary fitness because they are less adapted to a changing reality.

Why no mention of telomeres? That's the main reason why we die. Each cell division loses a little bit of the telomeres at the end of our chromosomes, and when it runs out... goodbye.

I don't mean to be nitpicky, but adult humans *do* actually have stem cells. Also, not all stem cells can transform into any other cell. Many have limited plasticity (for want of a better word). You guys are thinking of *pluripotent* stem cells-- which are much more common during fetal development.
    Great video overall though! ❤

Though culture has indeed out paced genetics in recent times, that is true.

The answer for world's troubles. READ BELOW:
When the Lord Jesus appeared to me and revealed His salvation from Mount Zion, I thought He was the devil. I was not taught in Christian religion that Christ can appear to us but only an angel of light, which is the devil. So I said "I cast you out in the name of Lord Jesus forever." I noticed the Spirit will not go away. The Spirit told me "Get the words of God." I opened it and was led to the Book of Psalms which I never read before. It is said:
    Psalm 77:7
Will the Lord cast off forever? And will He be favorable no more?
I realized He was truly the Lord Jesus speaking to me. I bowed down at His feet who was standing before me. I cried and said: "Lord, I am not worthy." The Lord Jesus told me the devil will not tell you to get the words of God and read it. He flee from it. At that time, I was serving the Lord Jesus through Christian religion and had no discernment between the Spirit of God and the devil. Now I am serving the Lord Jesus through the House of Israel and Mount Zion, He filled me with His words and no wicked religious leaders will dare tempting me to go back into living in rebellion towards God's Law and live in darkness of ignorance. Lord Jesus taught me SATAN CANNOT ATTACK ANYONE UNLESS HE SINS AGAINST GOD'S LAW AND COMMIT INIQUITIES AS PRIDE, GREED, AND ENVY.
    Luke 22:3
Then Satan entered Judas, surnamed Iscariot, who was numbered among the twelve.
    Acts 5:3
But Peter said, “Ananias, why has Satan filled your heart to lie to the Holy Spirit and keep back part of the price of the land for yourself?
    1 Corinthians 7:5
Do not deprive one another except with consent for a time, that you may give yourselves to fasting and prayer; and come together again so that Satan does not tempt you because of your lack of self-control.
Christian leaders do not give their people correct understanding of the salvation of God. All they can say is GOD LOVES YOU, GOD PROTECTS, GOD GIVES YOU PEACE, GOD FAVORS YOU, YOU ARE SPECIAL, YOU ARE BLESSED, YOU ARE COVERED WITH THE FULL ARMOR OF GOD WHICH IS THE RIGHTEOUSNESS OF GOD. Christians leaders have no understanding that the Law of Moses is the righteousness of God. When people obey it in Christ's name, the devil along with his destructive works flee from them.
    Romans 10:5
For Moses writes about the righteousness which is of the law, “The man who does those things shall live by them.”
Because of greed of wanting to be famous and money from writing books, christians leaders hid the whole truth from them. Meanwhile people in religions are sufferings for their sins towards the Law of Moses. They get sicked, commit suicide, raped, killed by accidents, robbed, hit by storms, and all the christian leaders can say to them it is the devil and not punishments from sins or it is a trial like Job. I was christian so I know what they go through.
    Zechariah 11
Thus says the Lord my God, “Feed the flock for slaughter, whose owners slaughter them and feel no guilt; those who sell them say, ‘Blessed be the Lord, for I am rich’; and their shepherds do not pity them. For I will no longer pity the inhabitants of the land,” says the Lord. “
The Lord Jesus is weary with the perversion of gentiles ways. Lord Jesus allows it to go on to fulfill the prophecy in which the gentile will rule the world for a moment. That moment is now ending. He is sending these calamities to take all the authorities and power from the gentiles and give them back to His people Israel and Mount Zion.
    Isaiah 42
I have held My peace a long time, I have been still and restrained Myself. Now I will cry like a woman in labor, I will pant and gasp at once. I will lay waste the mountains and hills, and dry up all their vegetation; I will make the rivers coastlands, and I will dry up the pools. I will bring the blind by a way they did not know; I will lead them in paths they have not known. I will make darkness light before them, and crooked places straight. These things I will do for them, and not forsake them.
    Ezekiel 34:10
Thus says the Lord God: “Behold, I am against the shepherds, and I will require My flock at their hand; I will cause them to cease feeding the sheep, and the shepherds shall feed themselves no more; for I will deliver My flock from their mouths, that they may no longer be food for them.”
    Haggai 2:22
I will overthrow the throne of kingdoms; I will destroy the strength of the Gentile kingdoms. I will overthrow the chariots and those who ride in them; The horses and their riders shall come down, every one by the sword of his brother.
Lord Jesus is sending His message to all religious leaders as a chance to repent from working as soothsayers by declaring all the sins of His people based on the Law and Prophets and Testimony of Lord Jesus so that true peace and life will come and not destruction.
Do you know we people in Mount Zion are God's army, angels, whom He sent in this last day to judge the work of the people based on Law of Moses?
    Psalm 149
Let the high praises of God be in their mouth, and a two-edged sword in their hand, to execute vengeance on the nations, and punishments on the peoples; To bind their kings with chains, and their nobles with fetters of iron; To execute on them the written judgment.
    Isaiah 13
I have commanded My sanctified ones; I have also called My mighty ones for My anger- Those who rejoice in My exaltation. The noise of a multitude in the mountains, like that of many people! A tumultuous noise of the kingdoms of nations gathered together! The Lord of hosts musters the army for battle. They come from a far country, from the end of heaven- The Lord and His weapons of indignation, to destroy the whole land. Wail, for the day of the Lord is at hand! It will come as destruction from the Almighty. Therefore all hands will be limp, every man’s heart will melt, and they will be afraid. Pangs and sorrows will take hold of them; They will be in pain as a woman in childbirth; They will be amazed at one another; Their faces will be like flames.
    Matthew 13
The Son of Man will send out His angels, and they will gather out of His kingdom all things that offend, and those who PRACTICE LAWLESSNESS, and will cast them into the furnace of fire. There will be wailing and gnashing of teeth. Then the righteous will shine forth as the sun in the kingdom of their Father. He who has ears to hear, let him hear!
    1 Corinthians 3
Now if anyone builds on this foundation with gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, straw, each one’s work will become clear; for the Day will declare it, because it will be revealed by fire; and the fire will test each one’s work, of what sort it is. If anyone’s work which he has built on it endures, he will receive a reward. If anyone’s work is burned, he will suffer loss; but he himself will be saved, yet so as through fire.
    The Spirit and the bride,
    Daughter of Zion,
    Mount Zion, Heavenly Jerusalem

Sorry guys, been hanging on to this channel hoping you improve, but you present this as science when you clearly haven't done the research needed to call it that. People didn't "used to live only until 40"--those rates include infant mortality rates and humans haven't gained more than 5-10 years of extended life even with the improvements in baby saving. This means that every conclusion you talked about after that point is just dead wrong--and you do this speculation type stuff all the time, which means most of your videos are just bunk passed off as science. Sorry, guys. I love you in DPC. But may I suggest leaving science to scientists? Thanks and goodbye, Good Stuff.

From 5:38 and on you just don't know what you are talking about, you spout baseless claims which are completely vague so the viewers will nod their heads."Trapped in a world vastly different than the one we evolved in"..so what? What is it that you are assuming?I guess from your tone this is bad but you dont elaborate.I guess you don't want to see how humanity would look through the ages.."hopelessly out of place and time unable to change and ultimately unable to survive"...haHAHahah
Sorry i couldn't help it,why would we feel out of place and time and unable to change? Are you assuming that from our elders behavior? If so you contradict yourself cause in the scenario which we are immortal,we don't age!We are at our prime for ever,so why would we feel that? It's true that we experience time through the changes in our selves and others(aging)BUT we also do it through the changes in our enviroment..so why would a greater scale of the same experience make us feel out of place and time? And even IF at some point we did feel it..do you think we wouldn't do anything about it?This also applies to the other nonsense "unable to change"..Do you really think that for example technology would stop advancing? On the contrary! We would be much more efficient with more collective AND individual knowledge. From bio engineering to A.I and even mechanically enhancing our bodies, the progress would be rapid but even if it was slow..it doesn't matter cause you know...immortality...The fact that you try desperately to say that death is unavoidable is just irritating..you are just promoting the idea that death is a wall that will not and should not be overcome and basing it on taboo ideas and vague claims so that the religious viewers don't smash the dislike button.

i think they were trying to make the point that we would halt or severely slow down evolution if we became immortal so we would still be the same creatures who developed thousands of years ago unable to, genetically, adapt to a new world.

Ok,this makes more sense and it could be the case but since we examine a fictional scenario,i like to think a more positive outcome and take it further..i think that we would become our own masters,as we always try to do,through technology..maybe build new bodies for our minds to live in mechanical or biological or even non physical like in the movie Transendance in which Johny Depp had his mind digitized and uploaded on the internet and by doing that his knowledge and capacities became godlike. I certainly dont believe that "life would get boring" as some say because we havent even explored anything yet..there are literally infinite amount of mysteries of life and the universe that no immortality could hope to unravel all of it..we havent even explored all of the earth, its ridiculous..Anyway i will stop ranting :P

tan fabien Even if that was their point it's a really weak argument. It's like Carbon-Dim says, evolution has no prescience. It's random chance and especially after the industrial age and the scale civilization has grown to most changes will either come too fast for evolution to figure it out or it will have us rely on technology to adapt and adopt the needed capabilities to deal with problems. And technological growth will only increase in speed too... We're on the cusp of genetically altering organisms already, and then there's enhancement through digital and mechanical plug-ins too. How is evolution going to stop climate change, or an asteroid impact?

I think, if we would have the ability to achieve immortality with our biological bodies, we can alter ourselves to new possible conditions.

People not dying would present new and difficult challenges for humankind such as resources depletion, environment changes, super bacteria or viruses epidemia, etc.
If we manage to beat those, individuals would start to live so long they'd forget everything. Mankind would enter a state of mind that focuses on a lifespan of memory, people would enter bizarre loops os doing the same thing over and over after enough years. Uploading our minds to computers can solve that, but also tackles psychological problems with the problem of the mind... who's to say we wouldn't lose our sense of individuality, become some kind of hivemind, or just end up realizing life is an illusion caused by our perception consciousness and we are nothing more than processes happening to help the universe increase its entropy, then fusing ourselves with the universe basic unit of information or something and become pure data. And then there's our own Sun ready to eat us in some billion years, and if we still manage to survive that, the universe would just decay into its most entropic state, back to being one homogenous thing with no part indistinguishable from any other part.
That's what he meant. We can't escape death.

"Our genes evolved thousands of years ago" I had to turn off at this point, too many little details wrong to trust the content of the video. At a minimum is has been tens of thousands of years, anatomically modern humans have been ~200,000 thousand years.

So you're denying that tens of thousands is still "thousands"?
      By the way-
After you typed "minimum", it would have been "it", not "is".
I had to turn off at this point, as it seems to be at the top of your head.

Our genes evolve every day since billions of years. Living forever and we would just be outdated some day ...

Had to dislike... There are too many assumptions in this hypothesis... You almost make it sound like genes have this collective knowledge and central awareness of the current state of humanity... That last bit of doing all of the repairs when you are old, makes no sense. If the body continued to repair itself, there would be no need for massive repairs when you are older. Just saying... Love the channel :)
