2024 Seattle Japanese Garden Tanabata Star Festival - DO-YA!! - Dekoboko Taiko

DO-YA!! - Original by Shogo Yoshii and Yawatahama Miyabi-gumi
"DO-YA!!" is the "kakegoe" or shout of encouragement from the port town of Yawatahama in Ehime Prefecture. The many rhythms of the song are based on agricultural and fish products of the area such as "jakoten," "mikan," and "kamaboko." Dekoboko Taiko was granted permission to play this piece after Maggie played with Yawathama Miyabi-gumi for two years when she lived in Japan.
