2024 Kent International Festival - Daichi - Dekoboko Taiko

Daichi (大地 or "Earth") - Original by Yuichi Kimura (2005)
The piece is written as a requiem for the 1995 Hanshin Earthquake in 2005. Kimura-sensei believes in the power of taiko to give courage to the hearts of people in order to help them rise up from disaster and tragedy. Dekoboko Taiko performed this piece in April 2019 with Yuichi Kimura and Daichi no Kai and was reunited in January 2020 for the Kobe International Taiko Music Festival 2020. After 4.5 years, we were reunited with Yuichi Kimura and Daichi no Kai for a guest performance at the Taiko Kai at the University of Washington Spring Concert the week prior to this performance.
