- This talk was given at a local TEDx event, produced independently of the TED Conferences. Prima ballerina Lisa Macuja Elizalde shares lessons learned from three decades of dancing, and concludes her presentation with a performance to remember at TEDxDiliman 2014.
Lisa Macuja-Elizalde is the most celebrated prima ballerina of the Philippines. The numbers speak for themselves: 30 years of dancing the lead roles in over 300 full length ballets, performing in 90 cities around the globe that span five continents.
She is the first and only foreign artist in the prestigious Kirov Ballet in Russia. Also known as "ballerina of the people", Lisa is presently the Artistic Director and principal dancer of BALLET MANILA - the country's youngest and most sought classical dance company.
About TEDx, x = independently organized event In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.* (*Subject to certain rules and regulations)
POV: you're watching this because of module
Hahaha that's true😁
Brought me to tears! This is what ballet is truly like.
"We have to train 6, 8, 12 hours a day, in order to... walk like ducks" XD
What a brilliant speech.
I'd argue there's also nothing like hearing a live concert.
i have never seen a ballet live. what a stunning performance.
wow you truly dance with real feeling , just like Pavlova, yet your own kind of unique
I was inspired by her talk,btw Angel's Last Mission:Love a K drama brought me here❤️
So inspiring! I hope Ballet Philippines could also make a performance in Bukidnon. That would be a dream!
Respectful and so adorable dancer, performing athletically. Thank you very much. I enjoyed every second of this video. A MUST-WATCH, from Ceyreste (La Ciotat) France.♥
Ballerinas age extremely gracefully like..... well....... swans..........
I hope we have more ballerinas here in the Philippines.
Bravo!
Hi! Lovely show here. Thank you so much! Lisa Macuja-Elizalde,
Marquess.... May I say....it is pronounced MARKWISS because here in the UK where I am, the traditional pronunciation here has become Markwiss.
Marchioness is pronounced \MAHR-shuh-nus\ and means “the wife or widow of a marquess” or “a woman who holds the rank of a marquess in her own right.” or..as I say...a Lady from Mars!!!
Thank you, Lisa Macuja-Elizalde from Elizabeth in Yorkshire 🌷🌷🌷x
Great speech!
Fiquei emocionada, linda performance. ❤
Just make sure you guys are not forcing 5th or 4th or any of the position you can really ruin your knees. Everyone has a max. work with what you got. So your turn out might you be more like 150 than 180 and that ok. If any one Ever tell you you force your turn out (from for knees especially) run for the hill i'm serious.
bravissimo!!!!

G10 here namamalimos po ng sagot
she stated that thie first one were not ballerinas but men, now if i see another people commenting about ballet with a man on it and haring on them, I'm gonna slap this fact to their faces 5:14
Pakopyaaaa
hi classmates
HELLO CUSIN 😊😊😊
12:09 uuuummm, is this supposed to happen?
That's how a swan dies.
TheCraftyPandaYT Vids yeah, but this really isn't the best version of dying swan. I suggest looking up svetlana zakharova's dying Swan
In her defense, the floor was very slippery. I wasn't at the taping of this talk but when ballerinas dancing en pointe step up on one leg so gingerly, it's because the floor is slick and they're afraid of slipping and falling. That's very evident to my trained eyes.
I suggest NOT looking up the automaton, Svetlana Zakharova. Look up any Russian ballerina, a current one, or maybe one of a far earlier generation, like Maya Plisetskaya, who made Dying Swan her personal autograph. But NOT Zakharova. Spare us all.
@@oworosie931 So true.
I'm here just for module🙄
idk, but this is better then svetlana zakharova's dying Swan
