  • How to make a Bougainvillea bonsai 2017:
    In this video I have shown that how to make a Bougainvillea bonsai tree from cuttings. Bougainvillea roots quite easily.My next video on that topic will be How to make a Bougainvillea bonsai with purning and wiring.You can check Nigel Saunders "Bougainvillea bonsai,May 2015.The variety of of my Bougainvillea is Pink Pixie. Bougainvillea bonsai is Amazing tree.
    In this video there is Instructions for bonsai on how to create,care,trim, design, grow, fertilize, collected,buy, show, display bonsai trees.In this video I work to restyle it using new structure and branch selection.
    You can check en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bouga...
    Bougainvillea (/ˌbuːɡᵻnˈvɪliə/ or /ˌboʊɡᵻnˈvɪliə/) is a genus of thorny ornamental vines, bushes, and trees with flower-like spring leaves near its flowers. Different authors accept between four and 18 species in the genus. They are native plants of, South America from Brazil west to Ecuador and south to southern Argentina (Chubut Province). Bougainvillea are also known as buganvilla(Spain), bugambilia (Mexico, Guatemala, Cuba, Philippines), bouganvilla (India), pokok bunga kertas (Indonesia), bougenville (Pakistan), Napoleón (Honduras), jahanamiya (Arab World), veranera (Colombia, Nicaragua, El Salvador, Costa Rica and Panama), trinitaria (Colombia, Panama, Puerto Rico, Dominican Republic & Venezuela), Santa Rita (Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Paraguay and Uruguay) or papelillo (northern Peru).
    The vine species grow fromm 1 to 12 m (3 to 40 ft.) tall, scrambling over other plants with their spiky thorns. The thorns are tipped with a black, waxy substance. They are evergreen where rainfall occurs all year, or deciduousif there is a dry season. The leaves are alternate, simple ovate-acuminate, 4-13 cm long and 2-6 cm broad. The actual flower of the plant is small and generally white, but each cluster of three flowers is surrounded by three or six bracts with the bright colours associated with the plant, including pink, magenta, purple, red, orange, white, or yellow. Bougainvillea glabra is sometimes referred to as "paper flower" because the bracts are thin and papery. The fruit is a narrow five-lobed achene.
    History
    The first European to describe these plants was Philibert Commerçon, a botanist accompanying French Navy admiral and explorer Louis Antoine de Bougainville during his voyage of circumnavigation of the Earth, and first published for him by Antoine Laurent de Jussieu in 1789. It is possible that the first European to observe these plants was Jeanne Baré, Commerçon's lover and assistant who was an expert in botany. Because she was not allowed on ship as a woman, she disguised herself as a man in order to make the journey.
    Bougainvillea glabra in Kerala
    Twenty years after Commerçon's discovery, it was first published as 'Buginvillæa' in Genera Plantarum by A.L. de Jussieu in 1789.The genus was subsequently spelled in several ways until it was finally corrected to "Bougainvillea" in the Index Kewensis in the 1930s. Originally, B. spectabilis and B. glabra were hardly differentiated until the mid-1980s when botanists recognized them to be totally distinct species. In the early 19th century, these two species were the first to be introduced into Europe, and soon, nurseries in France and England did a thriving trade providing specimens to Australia and other faraway countries. Meanwhile, Kew Gardens distributed plants it had propagated to British colonies throughout the world. Soon thereafter, an important event in the history of bougainvillea took place with the discovery of a crimson specimen in Cartagena, Colombia, by Mrs. R.V. Butt. Originally thought to be a distinct species, it was named B. buttiana in her honour. However, it was later discovered to be a natural hybrid of a variety of B. glabra and possibly B. peruviana - a "local pink bougainvillea" from Peru. Natural hybrids were soon found to be common occurrences all over the world. For instance, around the 1930s, when the three species were grown together, many hybrid crosses were created almost spontaneously in East Africa, India, the Canary Islands, Australia, North America, and the Philippines.
    Various species of Bougainvillea are the official flowers of Guam (where it is known as the Puti Tai Nobiu);[8] Lienchiang and Pingtung Counties in Taiwan; Ipoh, Malaysia;[9] the cities of Tagbilaran, Philippines; Camarillo, California; Laguna Niguel, California; San Clemente, California; the cities of Shenzhen, Huizhou, Zhuhai, and Jiangmen in Guangdong Province, China; and Naha, Okinawa.
    Native to South America, bougainvillea carry several names in the different regions where they are present. Apart from Rioplatense Spanish santa-rita .

    Bonsai will be a Japanese term for"planting in a tray". Penjing in Chinese means "scenery in a tray'. They both involve dwarfed plants.

    If you want a radial root pattern try a narrow but tall pot and place a round piece of plastic underneath the plant. That way the plant can’t grow any roots straight down, instead the roots have to grow to the sides and only then they can grow straight down, but they’ll be easy to cut.

    • @BonsaiTricksAndaLotMore_ayan
      @BonsaiTricksAndaLotMore_ayan  6 лет назад

      No don't water them daily. Water only when the upper surface feels dry. Keep in semi shade. Partial morning sunshine is good. But keep in mind that somtime Bougainville needs upto 4-5 months to root. So be patient. Thanks

    Namaste 🙏 Lol I don’t understand this concept about letting them be thirsty: I have 2 bougainvilliers in 2 small 40cm X 18cm pots in VIETNAM 🇻🇳 east exposure balcony : I usually had to water them every 2 days else they show signs of déshydratation, which did not improve the blossoming either. I gave them to my dad, they’re now in full sun, but dad is not at home and I forgot to water them for a week: one of the 2 has half of his new leaves dried out. So now I consider putting them in a big container so that they can survive 1 or 2 weeks without water.

    Your videos are good and inspiring. I have two questions:
    1) Is it a normal Bougainvillea twig used to make the Bonsai version?
    2) Can we make Bonsai from any normal plant or is it a separate breed / variety all together?

    • @BonsaiTricksAndaLotMore_ayan
      @BonsaiTricksAndaLotMore_ayan  6 лет назад +1

      Yes it is common bougainvillea twig.
      Yes, any normal plant can be turned into bonsai. There are no special plant for bonsai. Bonsai needs spacial pruning techniques and soil.

    • @kvsreeram2417
      @kvsreeram2417 6 лет назад +2

      Thanks. I shall try with other plants as I need to keep plants only in pots.
      Many pots that you are shoing in y our videos are wide with less depth. Will that work for all plants - like Hibiscus? Normal pots (cement/clay) will generally gave more depth.12-14 inch with 10-12 inch height. Please suggest.
      Also you are planting almost superficially with plant only 3-4 inches in the soil. will that support or shall we have to replant once in a while with pruning roots.
      Thanks.

    • @BonsaiTricksAndaLotMore_ayan
      @BonsaiTricksAndaLotMore_ayan  6 лет назад +4

      If you use wider pots with less depth then your plants will be matured quickly, give flower earlier. And there will be less chance of root rot.
      But there are some disadvantages too. You will have to water more frequently.
      You have to use some stone for support until it's roots get established.
      Yes you can apply same technique for hibiscus too.

    I have seen that at least 3 ficus panda have dried in my home garden. Moreover, I have tried at least 300 cuttings. Most have failed. Most didn't leaf and these leafed dies soon after. I am not bothered about what has happened. Painful is that the one that recently I started conversation to bonsai has also started drying up.
    Someone told me that pH may be a problem. I purchased pH paper and found that, though, pH is on the basis side but it is under 8. That is water.
    My hibiscus is also not going well. Every now and then it gives me sign of drying up. Let me know the solution

    • @BonsaiTricksAndaLotMore_ayan
      @BonsaiTricksAndaLotMore_ayan  6 лет назад +1

      It can depend upon many things,like
      1: Weather condition
      2:Soil
      3: Water drainage
      4: Under watering
      5:Over watering
      6: Excessive amount of Fertilizer
      Let me know which one do you think?

      +Avinaba Mukherjee , I have tried many times to germinate maple seeds. But I have failed may be because of quality of seeds or our climate.

    Thanks ❗️I learned today a possible reason why some of my bougainvillea plants simply wouldn't bloom. And to think that I have been doing just the opposite thinking that could make them bloom❗️(sigh)

    I hve two of these... From nursery... Will try the same....😊 hey.. Wen should v do wiring for a bonsai? Is it really necessary...?

    • @BonsaiTricksAndaLotMore_ayan
      @BonsaiTricksAndaLotMore_ayan  7 лет назад +1

      There are mainly two ways to make branch structure.1 - Cut and grow technique and 2- Wiring technique.Both have its merits and demerits.I will soon upload a video on wiring.So stay tuned.Wiring gives curvy and complecated branch structure suitable for hardwood tree bonsai.As Bougainvillea is not a hardwood tree is is shut or Vine so wiring isn't necessary for Bougainvillea.Because branches are not permanent in Bougainvillea they continuous to dry up.Use hedge pruning techniques for Bougainvillea.

    Hey Oyon, my orange boug cutting starting giving out long rambling branches. Looks kinda ugly now as its in a pot. I already pruned it once. Even few flower buds have appeared. Should I prune it again?

    • @BonsaiTricksAndaLotMore_ayan
      @BonsaiTricksAndaLotMore_ayan  6 лет назад +1

      Frequent pruning can harm yours plant's health.Please let it grow for one growing season then hard pruning plant when it is thriving.

    What the best season to rooting
    boungainvilla cuttings if I living in hot areas ?
    And thanks for nice video :)

    • @BonsaiTricksAndaLotMore_ayan
      @BonsaiTricksAndaLotMore_ayan  7 лет назад +1

      +orchid smile bougainvillea can be rooted easily. Best time is during rainy season. But it could be rooted any time of year except hot Summer. Bougainville needs very long time to root so be patient.I have one bougainvillea that needed 2-3 months to root.Remember one think use a well draining bonsai soil and do no fertilize till 2 and new growth.
