Tina Turner passed away today and this was the first song that came to mind if her name is ever put in the dictionary the definition should just say WOW.
If I am correct she was a business name in her own right and she parted ways with Ike and gave him 💵 💰 for good measure. I remember when that album with Private 💃 Dancer. She was a megastar
Hurricane Ida is definitely a sister of a black widow spider as my thoughts and prayers for those who lost lives and homes in several states due to Ida.
It’s a shame the relationship and group started to erode, sometime after the release of this song, which was a venture to step up with the growing funk rock genre that they subtly started. T.T. is at her best and the queen of gut-rock soul on this one. I only heard this song twice when it was out and hadn’t heard it again until finding it here. I have never forgotten the song. Whether behind the mic or on stage, she is the unquestioned Lioness and queen of gutbucket, gritty soul, rock, and funk and set the template for everyone from Janis Joplin, Chaka Khan, Joyce Kennedy, and even Beyonce. Thanks for posting!
@@TheCosmicFunker Yep ... what I'm saying is "my favorite of all Tina Turner related songs" ... you're right, he had something to do with that funk there. Proof is the comparison to her later solo songs.
@@ear4funk814 'Proof is the comparison to her later solo songs.' Apart from singing, what part did Tina play in creating her solo tracks? Don't you find it strange that she wrote all these amazing songs when she was with Ike, and absolutely nothing after she went solo? I would say it's more likely that rather than Ike having something to do with the funk here, Ike had everything to do with the funk. According to one of the musicians who worked with them, Tina was prevented from entering the studio when the musicians were recording the music. I wouldn't be shocked if she didn't write the Ike & Tina songs attributed to her, and her name was on them as a tax dodge. Much like James Brown did when he claimed his daughters wrote songs in the late 70's when they were little children.
Ida-Mae was the names they had back in the 40's-70's. around 1980 or so, names like Keisha, Shaquavia, and Duflicka started popping up. lol but this song still means the same thing today about some of these "womenz." lol i love it.
you showing your age if you remember this one here..but this jam here still get us old gees a jump start to get up and dance..remember the old WDAS fm used to play this all the time
Am I the only one that reads deep into lyrics? Check this out, " Beware of Sexy Ida. She looks so sweet and kind. Her looks can be deceiving because her love is like strychnine." Strychnine is rat poison! What this says to me is that although she might be fine, she could possibly kill your ass! Lol. I'll pass!

Saw her in 1973 or 74 . Her best track for me with Nutbush 2nd . Killer Bass line that doesn't give up . This Funk is up there with the best RIP
It's good that there are artists keeping men from temptation and lust.
Hopefully someone can keep women away from predators 🤷♀️
