  • In this video we are getting started with the Fish shell in Arch Linux. The Fish shell is another popular shell for Linux, which offers lots of customization options with plugins and themes. Here we are installing it, and we're going to configure basic settings. The Fish shell comes already with useful plugins and good customization options out of the box.

      Thanks! Yeah that’s its downside, but the main functionality can be achieved by using it as an interactive shell.

    The number of subscribers is growing inexorably. This means that the video on the channel is relevant and interesting. But I want to see a video about your plans for the future of the channel. What is new to appear or not to appear , what topics will still be covered in the future. Can you give us a look at this "list" 😊

    Cool. So, if I wanted to use it with zsh as the background shell, I could just do exec fish for it to be the interactive.
    Though, I might still keep zsh, I'm getting fond of config files.

    • @eflinux

      I think I’d keep zsh in your case, otherwise you might end up with doubled functionality.

    How is adding exec fish to bashrc different to using chsh?

    • @eflinux
      @eflinux  4 года назад +3

      As per the Arch Wiki, using chsh changes the shell system wide, while exec fish leave Bash as a system shell but gives the possibility to interact with fish.
