The grand daddy of my Xtensions Jr cab. Those Jr cabs were the PERFECT size. RIP Recroom Masters. They had the best options for me.
Really like all the arcade builds and UI. Your video explanations are great. I got far in my launchbox rocket launcher set up, but I got lost and never pick it back up. Then I see this and I'm drooling again Lol.
When your stick needs replaced, look into IL industries. They made the sticks for Happ before Happ merged with Suzo. They cheaped out a bit afterward. IL is the original, better built design and are drop-in replacements.
They even have a 4-8 way switchable version where you just lift up on the stick and twist to change modes.
I really want one of these, but a full height model.
I kind of hope they do a full size cab in this style. I really like the minimal design, stripes and cut down control panel.
I'm a GameEx front end guy but always like to see how other people's cabinets look. Very nice. :)
Hey man. Good video and hope you and your family stay safe with that hurricane coming.
Coin slot, absolutely you have to do it sir!! 😁👍
i concur!
Commenting before I even watch the video. I already know this is awesome! Been on the fence about getting one myself.
I got one and love it. I did put mine on top of an Ikea Tingby table which is the perfect dimensions to hold the cab and bring it to standard height.
That Unified theme looks awesome, I'm going to try it out this weekend.
Thanks for sharing!
Best videos by far. Clear and informative. Thanks bud
Nice set-up, full size cabinets take up a lot of room and are heavy Thanks for the video.
Another video to make me jealous! :) I appreciate the demo of bigbox - may have to consider that for modding my arcade1up. Mame has always been such a pain to get going.
I love this arcade cab you set it up so nice 😍. Thanks for the launch box recommendation will check it out
Mine is on its way. Cant wait!
Not bad I just might end getting one by the end of the year. A dream to come true.
I used an iPac4 on my very first build, thank god for the Mapping Software, as Up was Down Left was Right, all Backwards, used the Software instead or re-wiring, Nowadays i wire straight to the Pi's GPIO's or a Zero Delay Encoder
Looks fantastic. Great job!
Thanks for posting this. I was looking at tinyarcademachines for a while but really don't want to pay over $1000 for a limited amount of games (I live in the States, and with shipping it would be an insane amount of money). Something like this is perfect. Easy to ship, doesn't take up a lot of room and I can build a mini ITX that is fully featured with every game I could want very easily. I really think I'm going to do this. I'll be reviewing your other videos to get everything set-up just right and I can just sit down and play without any hassle.
I have to agree bloody roar is my favorite fighting game!
Absolutely epic sir
Yep know what I'm getting myself for Christmas
Coin Slot seems to be a pain in the ass, because yeah, it gives you satisfaction, but, is unpractical with a homebrew arcade machine, it just gets old pretty fast. That was my experience, greetings and awesome Job!
i think this is they front end i want to use on my new arcade pc based build, hyperspin & technoparrot just look like a nightmare to set up but this looks just as good & easier to setup.
You should try to add that lightgun Wii mote setup , and maybe some regular controllers ( unnecessary I know, but it would be nice to see how versatile this setup can be )
Damn the xtension stick is huge
I wish we could get 1 of these for 1UpOnCancer, this would look great in our office!
That thing is a beast.
Just want to say because of you and your videos I have jumped into PC and I just received my PC from eBay yesterday cannot wait to start doing all these wonderful women leaders once again just wanna say thank you very much
Yes.. do the coin mechanism!! You should definitely do a rpi3 arcade build. Most of us will use the rpi instead of pc...
Another great ETA video! I wish they would sell this on the Australian Amazon site
Coin-Mech will look funny with-out a Big Door, or the "Look of a Door" bit of tape, bit of paint, you got a Fake Door, don't let Wylee-Coyotee chase the Rod Runner through it
Would love if you could do a more in-depth video on bigbox options menu and settings😊 there not all self explanatory and often I have to reboot bigbox to even see what I changed if I even notice it🤷♂️😊
Are you going to do a video on how to setup Rocket Launcher with Big Box?
LaunchBox now has Start-Up and Shutdown themes, also The Bezel Project will add Bezel's
A New LaunchBox Tut would be nice
Own a rec room cab. It's awesome. Wish they would bring back dual stick cab and design a cab for for the X arcade solo as I have a couple of those.
Cutting a hole or rectangular shape isn't too hard but I don't think you need it on that cabinet since it is too small for one and it would look a little funny. Nice cab thought.
Thanks for the video. Odd that RUclips is only now, recommending this one to me. LOL
Nice Video as usual. Do the Coin option you will be glad that you did :)
Nice video. Didn't realize you were a rocket launcher use. 😀I wouldn't do the coin slot. I would put the effort into a light up Marquee.
Damn this is sick
Yes add The Coin Mech, i used the one where you put the Coin inteded to be used in the side of it, and now it Only Accepts that Coin
Do you have "As seen on TV" Renovator Tool, it's a oscillating cutting tool for holes , close up cut's and corner's, with a few shaped cutting blades
PS: Keep the Coin Button active, or another Button, so You do Not Pay hehehe
Great videos! Always been a retro gamer but haven't had nearly 4k to buy an arcade. Now with arcade 1up I've probably watched a 100 videos on home arcade builds, mods, and emulators. Anyway, have you seen a riser for this recroom 3/4 cabinet? Looks a little too low like arcade 1 ups
Looks pretty darn good enjoy your toy :)
Wow awesome
I would of built a Cabinet around your Tank Stick, good quality unit
I have been manually adding bezels to the mame games I play while I patiently wait for a version of the bezel project to work with launchbox. The bezels I use look nice, but very time consuming to set up per game. I know of rocket launcher, but that's about it. I would love to see a video just about bezels. Best places to get them, programs you can use, etc.... also a functioning coin slot sounds badass lol.
I figured out rocket launcher over the weekend, it's not as hard as it seems, and almost streamlines things a bit
Now that you switched to a PC you definitely need to add the coin mech........and some AimTrak light guns. lol
Succccccccchhhhhh a shame they dont offer different button layours on this. I'd kill for this with a vewlix layout control panel. Such a shame...
This is cool... I would love to build my own from scratch but I just don't have the tools and this is definitely an alternative! Will a full size pc fit in the cabitnet?
Hey ETA, that's awesome. Will you do a video on how to with Launch Box and Rocket launcher step by step?
ETA, that is an amazing build. Where do you house all of your cabs? Do a game room video, I know you're not leaving that in the corner.
Working on it now. I have a few more shelves and toys to add then I’ll be doing a few videos
What's the boot process on these. You have to start the software every time you boot the machine or is it set to automatically boot into the UI. I really hate the OS not being hidden in all these setups. It kills the immersion. I want my 5 year old to hit a switch and have the machine ready to go
Edit: 4:18 you answered my question 😏
ETA Prime,
Thanks for doing another video on the Alpha-cade! Your first video helped me take the plunge and I ordered one. I can't wait until it gets here!
A few quick questions if you have the time. You mentioned you "flashed" the IPAC to make Windows detect the Alpha-cade's control panel as two controllers. I've never heard of doing this and wondered if you went this step to thwart limitations of hitting too many keys on a keyboard at the same time? I think that's a thing. How does one flash Alpha-cade's IPAC, and since I'll be using a Raspberry Pi, can Pi recognize the difference like Windows can?
Thanks again for the coverage and have a great day!
vgv
I have yet to test it with the Pi but it’s actually pretty simple to set up. Download win ipac and the game pad driver from this link www.ultimarc.com/download.html . Follow the on screen instructions. I can make a tutorial this week if it helps.
My Alphacade arrived last week, I too ordered because of your great videos! I have the same question as Videogame Vegas and I've been unable to find any guides online how to program the IPAC to act as two controllers, infact one guide said it couldn't be done! I would really appreciate a quick video on this. I've found that the standard MAME setup will not work with nullDC for dreamcast, so I'd like to try the twin controller method instead.
i like it !
Definitly do the coin system. I'm curious to see on what systems it could work on
Have you thought about making a video on how to reflash the firmware in the Ipac 2? Or is there a link to a tutorial that someone has already made?
I second this.
I third this!
I forth this
Fifth
Great vid! Will this work with the Odroid XU4?
Hi Eta Prime, can you also please make a small video of your favourite themes for the Big Box, I would really appreciate that, thank you :-)
You should try running some mugen games. It would be perfect for this cabinet.
Yes to Coin Mech, just any basic one, since its not LED Blinky then No need for light up Coin Mech
Also back in the day, i had a Hidden Sliding Drawer just under the Joysticks that held the P/S 2 Keyboard and Mouse, yes old old iPac4, with Suzo-Happ buttons, joysticks, spinner and t/ball
Rocket Launcher - Launchbox Tutorial please, as i thought rocket-launcher was a extra old way, but if we need it for Bezels, then again Please a Tut
I just picked up one of these cabinets. Can you explain a little more in detail how you set up the control pad in Launchbox or BigBox. Did you just plug it in and it was automatically detected and configured or did you have to use controller automation?
or if you have a link to a great video for help with adding Bezels to Mame or bigbox it would be great. And love your Tutorials bro
Did you ever get it figured out?
Is there a video on how you flashed the Alpha Cade IPac controller to show up as two controllers or have a link to a tutorial? I am trying to get the controller setup with Bigbox and it isn't quite right out of the box. Thanks for the great videos!
ETA PRIME, could you please show a video of how you set up LaunchBox to boot up automatically when the pc starts up!
Hello etaprime Nice video can you teach us how to configure the controls? I have a bartop with a raspberry pi3b + and I would like to upgrade to a win 10 PC like you , do you have any guide to configure windows and the arcade controllers to work. Please help me out to make the leap😅 like you
Can you have a tutorial showing how you set launch box with Alpha Cade
Wow actually isn't to bad priced.
Could you possibly do a video showing how to setup rocket launcher with launchbox? Would be nice to have a load up and shut down screen
Yes I will. Been planning on it for while now just need to make time.
@@ETAPRIME sounds great and thanks for all the help
RIP ETA
Could you test the Nvidia Shield TV and see if works with the Alphacade controls? I already have the Insignia 19” TV and the Shield TV. Might get the Alphacade.
Don't Do the one up cabinets they are stuck they way they are and you cannot change anything unless you completely scrap the screen, and other cablings.
Is there any chance you might do a video on Launchbox music? I'm trying to get per platform tunes playing at the select screen, but individual video sound at the individual platform level and I'm having no luck!
Could have taped up the plug holes and painted the power strip black... it's inside the machine though, who's going to see it?
Do it give it coin op :D it is the only thing it is missing tbh
Oooooo it would be nice to see a hole on the side so you could feed an extra arcade stick for 3 or 4 player games.
Hi ETA Prime. Would you mind sharing your button mapping on that controller board? Thanks!
I currently use a monitor for my arcade because lots of info online say tvs have too much lag. Is this still true? Or have tvs gotten good enough to not worry about it?
I'm gonna make a cabinet for a big screen tv so I can play from the couch
Any chance we can do a Bezel Video ? I have grab some of the from the Launch box Forum but cant figure out the correct way to get it to work. I am sure it must be user error lol
On this arcade if you have the control set up can you still use an Xbox controller on top can you have multiple controller set up as player one
Can we get a link to that firmware update for the controller.
Also, do you find it easier to setup using the controller as 2 game pads vs a keyboard? I've got player two setup with some shortcuts in launch box using it as a keyboard, but would gladly take easier setup.
Did you get this done? I need to do it too.
You never made an update video for the hack for the turbo Graphics 16 mini and it's been over a year
How did you flash the ipac 2 to 2 controllers? Does this way give you 6 buttons per person plus coin/start etc? Thx
Do your knees bump into the control panel or go underneath? The arcade 1up has an angle to the front panel so your knees don't bump into it. How about this machine?
@ETA Prime Can u directly launch into BigBox upon windows startup ? Otherwise seeing windows booting up in a cab is a horrible vision ...
hold on how did you switch the controller plug from Pie to pc?
Why didn't you use Mame No Nag to avoid those warnings when you start a rom?
I actually totally forgot to do it real quick before the video. I don’t mind but it makes it easier for anyone else to play without having to do another step.
hey ETA PRIME
..are the cave games part of the mame split romset ??
What joysticks does this have?I have Competitions in my MAME cab, going through an old JPac, and pulling off SF2 moves is difficult, bordering on impossible.
Do you have a tutorial for how to flash the i-pac.firmware on the controller to use as two separate controllers? I bought this alpha-cade and should receive in several weeks. I know that keyboard setup is painful but I don't want to brick the controller if I do something wrong. Thanks! ☺
Doesn't matter, I figured it out for myself.
Thomas Veith can you share how you did this?
Best (not biggest) Rom Set for Mame ?, i am so out of date for Mame stuff, or like always any roms set with the right mame ver, once audited ?
I wish I could install big box in my Shield...
Can you do a video on how to get Maine running on launch box I been knida struggling with Maine and ps1 just now I'm just running retropie on an Ubuntu witch works fine but PS2 through retropie bit of pain last time I tried internet connection cut out n rather than trying to figure that would be easier just to run it all off same boot rather than dual booting plus this way can put some pc games on it
So a Pi 3 isn't able to handle playstation and dreamcast emulation?
Can you configure two players with launchbox and a tutorial to show us
Eric Ostroff Has anyone figured how to do it? I am struggling running Steam fighting games on an IPAC2
My PC will wake with the keyboard but not with the control panel. Think I need to update the iPac firmware?
Hi ETA! I lost sound on my usb flash drive running recalbox. Any solution?
can I ask what rocket launcher adds if you already have launchbox?
Can more than 1 version of Mame be added in this front end??
I just purchased big box last night and i have it running on my arcade cabinet. When i start a game it plays games on my second pc monitor even when i have the correct monitor(my arcade monitor) checked to play games. Any suggestions? Any information is greatful. Thanks
Launchbox and bigbox both launch on cab only when i start up games it wont launch on cab screen. My cab screen is 32inch. Could that be the problem?
The only issue i have with those bezels is that it takes away some screen space of the actual game.
Yeah the CRT borders cover up some of the screen. I’m looking for a better set but I would like for them to be unified also
How do you map the buttons to newer games like dragonball fighterz? Middle top button (alt) does not register
