Being 6'10 tall I couldn't fathom spending money on the 3/4 machines. Appreciate this video, I think this will be the build I go with in a couple years from now. Too expensive right now
I wouldn't. I bought A1UP for the price and I've never been happy with them, even after modding them six ways from Sunday. Even if you're broke. Save, be patient, and buy a full size.
Fantastic video... ETA Prime... for someone who has only played emulators and Arcade 1Ups, I find this video very informative... One day in the near future, I’ll start to build one of these bad boys... and I’ll definitely refer to your videos... great work brother...
wow that's freaking sick! love the concept of the mini-monitor marquee that'll display the artwork for each game though. I know there's a light gun out there you can get that kinda does the wiimote thing but it's a real plastic gun like you'd use in time crisis or something (I think it may actually be a gun-con repro) so that might be the way to go for adding light gun support to your cab. awesome video man!
From experience I can honestly say that any full sized cabinet will end up being close to a grand unless you cut it yourself. CNC shops are a good alternative but they charge $60+ an hour and you have to buy the wood at $40+ a 4x8 sheet. Then you have to laminate, paint, or use melamine. Then you have to put the pieces together and they won't be elegant IKEA style cams and perfectly pre-drilled holes. If you aren't a serious woodworker it can easily end up sloppy and any big mistakes can result in buying more wood and going back to the CNC shop. And then there's all the little custom built pieces that cover unsightly gaps, line edges, you know, all the little things that give a professional appearance that will be missing when you just cut wood and put it together. Then all the custom artwork, control panel layout, marquee, controls, coin door, etc. It won't be like one of these or an A1UP where 3rd party arcade graphics shops sell compatible art, if it is a custom cabinet you need custom work, and that gets very pricey. A1Up is still the best option for the broke, but unless you find a full sized cabinet with plans and every part sourced, it is really better to build one of these. I do think it should come with a monitor for the price.
I've been watching all ETA videos for years, love the guy. At 5:06 I feel like I peeked behind the curtain to see the wizard 😂 Never knew what the man looked like 😄
Prefect Video! I have the tankstick and been going back and forth on getting this cabinet with the tankstick cutout or extension controller. This video helped me choose
I put one of these together last month with my kids. We are n00bs are projects like this so it ended up taking 3.5 hours, but it works and we like the final product.
Seriously I've been wanting one of those fully cab units but I didn't have the budget for them... but if I can sit down and still enjoy those arcade cabs experiences, I'll do it! I'm lucky enough that my father have those power tools in his garage and that I only live 1 street over from his place! I already have a capable PC to run Big Box and I only have to get a decent monitor and supplies to get this project started! Great video and keep up the good work!
now this cab is awesome, I thought about building my own. I can do it, I 'm just limited on the amount of tools I can use around here...so if I were to make my own, it woulnd't be as nice as buying a kit. I love these retro arcade vids, keep them coming!
I love that system! The wife will think I'm nuts but I gotta get one, lol. Retro gaming is pretty much all I do in gaming and that setup is perfect for it. Can't wait to see more videos on it.
@@advancedvendingmachine8732 would it work with a cabinet with a tilted screen like the 80s Taito cabinet? I always wonder with the sensors and how they would compensate.
I have this same cab with the emulator edition + controller. I love it. I have a few suggestions. When putting it together, put some protection on the bottom panels that contact the floor. You don't want to damage the cabinet sliding it around. Also, consider that the pressboard material will absorb water easily if you keep it in a basement... maybe raise it up on something? If you use a tv, you may need to keep a remote handy to turn it on. I used a monitor that wakes up with the pc... minor issue. Finally, if you plan on putting graphics on the cabinet, bite the bullet and do it when you buy it. The controller needs to be completely disassembled, so at least do custom graphics on that when you order.
I've been following your channel for awhile now... but this... THIS is what I've wanted. A full size cabinet with a track ball and storage! THE BEZEL PROJECT seems awesome! ~US $1,500? Looks like I'm saving up. I can't wait
You can visit Rec Room Masters website, they have different size cabinets with different prices. I bought the full size cabinet that can handle a 27" monitor and with custom (Star Wars theme) side art, control panel and marquee few years back.
You mentioned there is a firmware update to recognize the controller as separate controllers? Can you please share a link on how to do that? Thanks in advance.
I got extremely lucky 2 weeks ago and found the sit down version of this cabinet for $350 on that offer up app !! I always wanted one and was happy to get one after I herd they went out of business..

Great review, I have the same cab with the same coin slot. I had them do a custom Star Wars wrap on mine and it came out fantastic! I absolutely love mine and it's been through some serious Street Fighter and MK tournaments, and holds up very well. You can't go wrong with this company, highly recommend them.
can you please make a video how to connect the coin door cables to the control panel? (mine is pro, console version). i want putting coin functions as select button in retropie. i saw your other video but thats for arcade1up cabinet and usb encoder and buttons aren't same. please! thanks in advance!
@@kilkwon if I'm not mistaken the coin door cable is via USB, in MAME you go into the key assignment and set the coin door for credit or if you set the game on free play then you set it to start game. Most people use the coin door for credit/coin up.
