- Lucy is insisting on a morning stroll despite cloudy skies. It rains a lot here in Springtime. I have a bad feeling about this.

Thank you everyone for your kindness & patience.
I have successful tortured Lucy back to health. These books of mine never fail me.
Next time I'm sick I'm going to try stuffing an orange up my nose.
Thank you for talking. You don’t always have to talk but it sure good to hear all of you talk.
hahaaha. We have a cook book here where i live - out of old nova scotia kitchens. In the back are home remedies including one that says eating pumpkin seeds cures bed wetting!
@@1820ColBenjaminStephensonHouse hahaah im glad of that! And HEY at least she didnt make you eat rolled up spider webs! That was a cure back then as well lmao
@@1820ColBenjaminStephensonHouse did it actually provide any relief?
Well praise Justine! Her and her books helped Lucy to recover, and in nice time, too.
"They are very good for putting up your nose." ROFL! I must remember this.
so wholesome, just lovely especially in these times, thank you so much and please keep going!
Poor Lucy!
“ i wish that I was sick”...😂. Tincture of opium..no wonder.
Muito lindo estes vídeos 🤩👏
Justine is the American Mrs. Crocombe
This!!!
Yes!
This!
I agree!
Yes THAT IS CORRECT MY DEAR
I am just dying..just dying of laughter.
Poor Lucy! I hope she feels better!
Justine is awesome!
Put a little opium in my cough syrup I'd be happy. Im sure it helped with the cough along with the honey. These days we use citrus to get better from the vitamin c but back then they didn't know better. I learn so much in these videos. Thank you.
I am eating oranges as I watch this 😆
this is such a neat channel!
The rain virus. Lol
This is hilarious! Peels in her nose! LOL. I'll have to try that if I get sick again.
“I wish that I was sick” 😄
I love the way they’re teaching us
You best run too ..auntie pearl take her a cherry pie that's been dropped y'all will have the best tea an pie and conversation
"Starve a fever, feed a cold"
That was fun
😂😍
My great, great grandmother had 12 kids. For Christmas everyone got one orange.
I hope Lucy doesn't have Yellow Fever that sounds horrible...
Interesting 😍
How much Opium is Justine going to give poor Lucy? Even if she’s still coughing, I don’t think she’ll care!
Everyone gets sick sometimes but don't be maudlin. Recovery from most things is attitude.🤔
Did people just have different immune system‘s back then because I live in the 21st-century and I have been outside in the rain for two days straight Hunting when I was a child and I was fine.
You can’t catch the common cold from being in the rain but you can get cold like symptoms from being in cold and wet weather, it’s just a mild inflammation that goes quickly, hence why Lucy was fine in two days.
Make a tea ☕️ with the orange skin snd limão 🍋 and honey drink very hot
Every word this woman says makes me angry idk why (the older one)
Make acted with the orange skin 🍊 with lemon and honey 🍯 drink very hot
14:35 Pretty snicky, Lucy!
I don’t really like the curls around the face too much.
it should be early European/ Irish immigrants, not early Americans.
America became a Country in 1776. This is supposed to be in 1819. Yes they are Americans.
I have an unhealthy obsession with this channel, discovered it recently have binged every video.
Same
Same here!! Smh
It is ridiculously entertaining.
@@stevearnold8467 tell me about it, this channel has me invested in how to make butter and soup as if I'm a scullary maid.
There is nothing unhealthy with intelligent entertainment!
People died from simple colds in those days.
In the 2005 version of Pride and Prejudice the Mother says 'people do not die of a cold,' and I always thought you sure? 😄
Now too.😉
Yeah, but this is before the days of penicillin, no working knowledge of germs, bacteria, infections.
@@Boomboomroomish Anyway
. Sadly, wer'e no that far against covid-19...whith aaalll knowledge we have now....
@@aliciamesa5382 We're still much better off than we would have been with covid in the past. It feels slow but it's actually incredible that in a year we went from zero vaccine or treatments to the public receiving vaccinations! Science is amazing.
I hope the Neighbors sisters nieces nephews recovered from the fever!
Me too 😆
I'm loving Justine's bit of sass! Little Miss uppity pants! 😂💗
Justine is a dead ringer for my younger daughter, in looks and voice. She has six kids, and knows every home remedy there is ... a matter of necessity when your family is that big.
When Lucy said it wouldn’t rain in the beginning of the video, I immediately thought of Sense and Sensibility.
"You always say it's not going to rain...And it ALWAYS DOES!"
Oh, wow, so did I.
I love how she distracted Justice to add milk to her oatmeal...nothing worse than bland food!
Hehe..I noticed that too...quite cunning
@@srinjoychattopadhyay5193 yes felt sad there was no sugar nearby lol
Haha after mixing honey, lemon & "tincture of opium" Justine says "I wish I was sick!"
I laughed at this
I love Justine eating the orange and telling Lucy its bad for her. Haha
How many house maids do you think pulled the same trick over the centuries? 😅
Just like modern times she gets out of bed with perfect hair.
They died of colds because they didnt understand dehydration.
No matter what era, we still wake up and look in the mirror like, "what now" "this is it then," and "I look terrible"..😂😂😂
"There are some rumors running about".. did you catch that? "Oranges are only for those who aren't sick I'm afraid"... oh reallllyyy
Justine is not very smart. Oranges are a good source of vitamin C, which helps fight a Cold! Also, I would NOT stick orange peel up my nose!! ~Janet in Canada
WHO PUT AN ORANGE PEEL UP THEIR NOSE I DID IT WAS AWFUL
This is hilarious, my favorite part is when she sneaks the milk into the oatmeal 😆😆😆 loved it! Funny, entertaining all while being educational and historically accurate
I remember reading once in an Early American magazine in the section about insuring family antiques. People would send in pictures of their heirlooms and ask how much they should insure them for. On lady sent in a picture about an unusual one handled soup tureen which had the pride of place at family gatherings. The magazine wrote back: "You should insure your chamber pot for $500."
I love that Lucy's hair is pinned and curled the entire time. She's miserable, but her hair looks good!
mmm, especially that she gets up with it all ready in the morning...
I cracked up over the modern naval oranges (seedless).
Justine gaslighting Lucy. I love it...
hhahaah poor Lucy! Justine and her books are going to kill her one of these days LMAO.
Dr. Justine. Death by knowledge ☠️. No citrus for you!
I wish I had someone like Justine taking care of me whenever I get sick!
Justine, for G-d's sake, give her an orange!
I love the text boxes!! They look as good as I imagined! Thank you!
Thank you so much for the idea!
Omg this channel is HILARIOUS.
Mc.It really is.Half the time I cant figure out if there are some seriously cross dressers in these videos but still i keep watching them😕
"I wish I wash sick" as she stirs the pleasant medicine..lol...that was right on👍😛
No wonder Lucy was ill, going to bed without her night cap to protect her from the night air!
And I was suprised Justine hadn't used the beef for beef tea for Lucy - or would that have been too many flavours?!
in Greece back in the same era herbs with medicinal properties as well as quinine and opium were the live savers of the time
I'm am in love with this channel. My whole life I've felt a tough I was born in the wrong time. It soothing just to watch the receipt videos... if I could drop everything and live in history I would. I love this channel ❤️ ❤️ ❤️ ❤️ ❤️
Tincture of Opium sounds good to me!😉
Indeed!☺️
Thank goodness it wasn't yellow fever. The prognosis is awful.
This series is hysterical
head cold?
NO VITAMIN C FOR YOU! 🤣
Justine must be a prophet cause they didn't know yellow fever was transmitted to humans from mosquitoes until 1900
I love this type of videos 💕💕💕
“too many flavors at once...” That’s funny.😁
HILARIOUS!!!!! I don't know if Lucy has just the right amount of sweetness or snoot but she is a self-absorbed spoiled brat! Perfect character. I LOVE IT! She is HUNGRY!!!! That means she is just fine.
Laughed out loud watching! Love your videos!!!!!
Did I just catch a glimpse of Ms Stephenson without a her night cap? Is this supposed to make me feel scandalized ... or really excited !?
Lucy can be a bit rude. BUT.....I'm sure they all were like that.
Is Justine a X- Men? She came back with that tea in split of a second!
She read it in a book
This channel is beyond wonderful !
I'm not dying, I just feel like it. Lol I felt this one.
Oh this is soooo cool ..... I love your videos 😻 really ..... But please upload videos with in a days at least.....not after weeks or months it's too late 😔 waiting for your next video 😉
Oh No! It's the plague! Quick, Justine, get out the garlic and make her some chicken soup! That's better than anything for a Chill with a fever! Curse that dratted rain! Poor Lucy! (ROFL!) This a classic reason why you shouldn't go walking in the rain without a coat or an umbrella!!! I love this video! ~Janet in Canada
Good old vitamin C..old as dirt. Try a poultice of peppermint and eucalyptus opens up airways.(Vicks )😉
For the 1830s the way the relationship between the maid and mistress is portrayed is very interesting and probably not representative as the maid seems to be too familiar. However, such a maid must have been a real gem!
Justine was actually more than a maid. She was thrown out of the convent (from her own account) and her mother was friends with Mrs. Stephenson, so Justine was put to work.. she was a bit rebellious..! LOL She was enjoying the ‘orange peels up the nose’ a bit too much, methinks..!! LOL (I was too..!)
Justine’s Mother was related or friends with the Stephensons (Justine may have known them in childhood), Justine was in the Convent for some reason and the Stephensons offered to take her in, in exchange for domestic duties. So she was more of a Protégé than a domestic servant, I’d imagine Lucy and Benjamin wouldn’t be as lax with her if she was just someone they hired (although Benjamin did tell her off for being behind with the laundry).
Is that tubing?? To the chamber pot ?? How did that work out? I assume like when in hospital on catheter? Wow.
Love this channel ❤ more videos please. Thank you beautiful cast.
Watching this I can only be grateful for modern day medical knowledge and medicine.
poor Justine XD
I enjoyed the video so much. Very interesting
Justine swears a lot! 😂
Haha, awesome episode :))) Lucy ISN'T happy with the treatment :))
Lucy is an oinker.. lol
These videos are so relaxing and entertaining!! Thank you all!!
This is DEFINITELY me and my mama. I love this channel, they are perfect comedic actresses.
sassy Justine lolololololol
Ahhh tincture of opium with a nice lemon cough syrup...that'd sooth a cough. My gran used something very similar. Tickled me how she tortured her back to health.
The term "Okay," was not used during this time period. " Very well" or "Yes ma'am" , "Very good," " Very well, " "As you wish" would fit better with the speech of the period.
My new favorite channel! YeeHaw!
You should’ve listened to Justine in the first place 😠
I love these videos!
I hope that you did not get the covid my best friend had a COVID once it. scared me to death I thought I was going to lose her
Oh no…..Lucy has the Corona Virus!!!
