Eric you just saved me about $500. 07 new style silverado grenaded the front diff, jumped up and hit and broke oil cooler cover on the pan which sprayed oil and set my engine harness on fire near the rear O2 sensors. I had my garage change the harness after I swapped the front diff. After they changed the harness i was still getting a P0036 code (O2 heater circuit) on my programmer. I let them do there thing and agreed to let the change both rear O2 sensors. Code persisted. They told me it had to be an ECM issue due to the fire. I found it hard to believe the ECM powered a heater circuit, but trusted them until now. I found a blow 10 amp fuse for O2, replaced it and all is well. My trusted garage will hear about it. I almost bought a PCM after i paid for 2) O2 sensors, when it was just a 10A mini Fuse
Eric, Thank you for your videos. You are my kind of mechanic: you're smart; you know your stuff, and fix what needs fixing, rather than looking for additional work that could be done. If something is beginning to fail, you call the vehicle's owner and give them the option of replacing it on their terms, or on the terms of the failing part, when it finally decides to go. A 'tip o' the hat' and thanks for being good, fair and honest.
Usually the only thing those EBCM units need is a couple solder joints re-flowed on the high-amp motor circuit. There are a few forum write-ups out there. Kind of a PITA to take off and pry open, but you don't need to remove any brake lines! About a 2-hour job. I did one on a Chevy Astro van last year, worked like a charm! P.S. Just snagged a used VERUS like yours off the Snap-On truck today!! Love it!
Hey motoYam82 . I have done that in the past but have pretty much quit doing that. Usually around here by the time they throw the code they are 7 - 10 years old and pretty well corroded. I even get near them and they just crumble. Have been making out pretty well like I mentioned in the vid getting good used southern units. Of course that is always a gamble too. Glad you got a verus NICE. Now you can get a junior tech badge just like me :) hehe
Eric, it's nice when the repair gods smile on you. I enjoy your videos a lot. I cut my teeth as a GM tech in Queensbury, NY and the rust you encounter caused flashbacks! I still dabble in cars and so enjoy picking up on your tips. Keep up the good work and stay warm!
Yeah your right Kevin Rogers. That is where the abs motor on these grounds too! I have seen in the past just like you obviously that, that ground can cause some troubles. Thanks for mentioning that!
I had the ABS relay go bad on my 2005 Avalanche ,pump kept running even with ignition off . I pulled the ABS fuse and never had another problem with brakes . Cost to replace was outrageous and from what i have read a very common failure ,should have been a recall.
Gotta love those faults that can be found with a visual inspection. Wish all of them were like that. :-) It looked like someone may have pierced the wire insolation with a pin or probe and didn’t seal it up afterwards with liquid electrical tape or clear nail polish. So moisture got in and rotted the wire from the inside out.
If you have sensor problems especially with Chevrolet products and can't find the problem check the On Star sensor. No dealer I went to for help found problem. Battery going dead. After 3 batteries, 2 alternators, and 5 car repair businesses the problem found. The last company couldn't find ,but took it to a repair shop was expert in electric problems and found the sensor problem. Spent around 1500 dollars all told for the On Star sensor.
Awesome video , I have a 2000 Silverado with 300,000 miles , I have been chase the code on the right bank for 2 years , but only in cold weather , the light comes on 2 times per winter , Everything checks out good , I don't know ...

Eric do you have customers ever show up with a vehicle that has been under coated to slow down the rust. My 12 year old Silverado and 5 year old F150 look like almost new underneath.
I've seen them come in undercoated but the stuff they put on the roads here is brutal. Plus the salt our backroads year round to keep the dust down. You can't win.

My rides are currently 10+ years old and rust free. I don’t want to have to get a tetanus shot every time I climb underneath my truck (which is often) and was considering getting them under coated. South Main Auto Repair, are you saying its not worth it? How does the under coating effect getting sockets on bolts etc? Thanks...
Oh man tough question, I have been in the rust belt my whole life and have yet to see and magic juice really preserve a car yet. Most of what I see only gets the car a few extra years of life but it still ends up turning into soda cans...I guess long and short of it is I personally feel washing the under body is the best but not really practical with out a heated shop to do it in... I don't really know the answer I guess.

Great video. Was kinda hoping for a little more info about the P0054 code though. My daughter's 09 Buick lacrosse had several codes. After some testing, I found that the downstream O2 sensor was jumping all over from almost no voltage to .9 volts. Front one was modulating as it should. Thought, ok, bad rear O2 sensor. Changed out the downstream sensor and cleared the codes. (Other codes not related to emissions were also repaired and cleared) The next morning she started the car and it went into this P0054 code. It didn't have this one initially. After doing some research, I OHMed the new sensor. Heater circuit checked out fine. Step 2. Checked to see if O2 sensor is getting 12 volts. It is! ANY ideas which way I should look from here? I left her my scan took and she has cleared the P0054. Works fine until the next time she starts the car when it's completely cold. Then P0054 again.
REPLACED BOTH SENSORS BUT I CANT SEEM TO GET THROUGH THE CYCLE TO RESET THE ENGINE LIGHT. I THOUGHT YOU HAD A VIDEO PREVIOUSLY POSTED ON HOW TO GET THROUGH THE ENTIRE CYCLE?

Trick that im sure you know by now on those chevy EBCMs. You can re-solder the points on the control board and it usually fixes the problem. Just did mine in about 30 minutes and saved $550. ABS codes haven't come back.
Thanks, I know I can't believe it. It has been so bust at the shop lately I haven't been able to get any thing out or even get part 5 of the Subaru job published. Had to let my guy go that worked for me, furnace died, tons of appointments lol other than that been pretty normal haha
It's funny I had a guy working with me for a while that's was pretty lazy to say the least and all he really did was follow me around. I wish I had given him a camera. Maybe he could of earned his pay. Lol. I basically have a full service repair shop but we come to you so it's not at a fixed location. I love it but in the freezing cold and snow it's a lot more difficult to work. I do have a small shop I keep large items at but my customers are so used to the convenience that I don't even mention it. Lol
Lol don't even get me started on employees haha, I don't wanna get angry this early in the morning lol. My hat off to you for being mobile. Heck I don't even like going to jump start a car when it -15 out w/ 20 mph winds. Not sure how you do it.
Or maybe better yet a PT cruiser timing belt?? Head gaskets on an a early 90's Windstar!!?? YEAH... -__- No.... I was thinking tool presentation my self. A lot have been asking for it...
I currently have that intermittent abs problem on my '03. the local dealer has that module plus the brake lines from it to the master for $150. but its only the ones that have the braided lines from the master about a foot back from it. I'm lucky that's what I have. but I haven't done it yet, only acts up when its -30c, and goes away after 2 key cycles. have done a couple of these, but not for the module. where I am in Canada with all the salt on the roads and mud in the summer, the whole group of brake lines from just above and behind the left front wheel to back under the door they completely rust out. for that price we have been finding it sometimes cheaper and easier to do that. we worked it out and it was costing more to bend and flare new brake lines, and with a problem with these modules, why not.
He kenman1717 thanks for sharing. Didn't know the dealer made a brake line kit for these. I will def be checking into that. I have done lots and lots of brake lines on these Chevy trucks that's for sure. Sounds like the area you live in is similar to ours. Two seasons, Salt and Mud haha...
I didn't either until a year ago around this time. an avalance was towed in, all the lines from the module to the master where rusted through. when I discovered the braided flex hoses coming off the master is when I called the dealer. they said the kit is the same for the trucks, providing it has those braided flex hose, because some don't. but I'm wondering it that's just the brake lines, surely that module would be the same. o yeah salt and mud. -30c in the winter, +100c in the summer or just non stop rain.
My Toyota requires OEM sensors that talk to the computer. Any after market junk sensors will keep tripping the code due to, I believe, quality assurance and tolerances, which do not meet manufacture specifications.
+jake ounce Explains why my "Duralast" sensors that I buy at AutoZone always come with "made in Japan". It just costs AutoZone too much to sell products that don't work for Toyota's.
Thanks for the video, my daughter has a 2016 Ford Fusion and the money light came on. She went to autozone and they said her o2 sensor was bad. I need to find out if that’s really what’s wrong.
I definitely found your video helpful. I have a question though. What if you changed the O2 sensor already but the truck is still throwing the same code?
I just picked my truck up from my mechanic, because it was stalling out after driving for about 30 minutes. He replaced my o2 sensor. Said it was the cause. My question is did that fix the problem like he said, or is it possible it was really the cat??
Wonders if any of the other ones have poke holes in them . My GMC truck , i never realized before now that it had brakes , but it is not very fast either . lol
I have problem I have a p0420 code and replaced all o2 sensors. My bank 1 sensor 2 is fluctuating more that bank 1 sensor 1. Is this a bad cat or faulty new sensor ?
Just take out the O2 sensors becuase they just plug up from cheap fuel and can not sniff anymore . take carb cleaner and wire brush clean out the holes and there you have it .
Well done video. Clear concise and calm. Thank you. I have a 2005 GMC Yukon XL Denali with codes P0060, P0054, P0053. I am assuming 1 of them might be a problem creating domino's effect. Best solution is to test 0060 first and move on. Would that be correct? Lastly, hoping you might be able to provide insight on traction control issue. Back in 2010 the traction control would kick in on dry pavement every time you start up slowly from a stop position. Supposedly dealer never found code and after leaving it overnight to test drive they could not duplicate. CAPITAL B.S. All these years the 1st thing when driving vehicle is turn off traction control and no issue. After taking it in a couple of times they said C0455 appeared and checked bulletin and found update software, reprogram VSES module (vehicle stability enhanced supply module). They suggested try replacing, this and that, spend some money for no guarantee the problem would be resolved. Do you think it could be the steering wheel position sensor? The ABS light has never turned on. Just recently the ABS has made a noise at the very end of the stop but no issues stopping. I know the ABS and traction work in tandem. Any thoughts? Still like the vehicle but not fair to spend that kind of money and have a daily annoyance. Thanks Michael
How do you test the heater wires from the truck side? What resistance should I be looking for. 2005 dakota 4.7l 220kmils P0141. Scratch that just watched it a few more minutes and Dr. O explained it lol.
My 06 GMC Sierra 5.3 6 scanner codes P0030 P0036 P0050 POO56 P0420 P0300 i tested all of the heated 02 sensor hot and ground power supply wires, all hot wires have 13 volts, and all grounds are good, i did a continuity test on the 02 sensors and all have continuity, SO why do i keep getting these codes? could you please help me with this problem.
It musta been your lucky day. If I was doing that job I would have found a broken wire in the center of the engine harness somewhere. LoL It appears that someone has been poking around with a test light.
I have a 2006 2500 HD 6 l Bank One downstream heater circuit forget somewhere on the internet you have to program them before you put them in? Hopefully not
Thank you for such informative and honest videos! I am looking at a 2013 Chevy 1500 pickuo and it has the following codes: P0036, P0054, P0140, P0141, P069E, P2272, P2635. I know the first 4 codes relate to O2 sensors, but are the last 3 (P069E, P2272, P2635) bad news? I dont jnow much about those???
I just changed my exhaust manifold bolts and gaskets. Do you think my exhaust manifolds is causing me to get P0332 code? Thinking maybe a bolt or 2 backed back out on my exhaust?
hey I have a 04 mustang 3.9L popping up p0054 and also p2270. Just replaced bank 1 sensor 2. also bank 1 sensor 1. I cant figure out the problem. CAn you help!!
Replaced bank 1 sensor 2... Took all proper steps including unhooking battery. Started truck, engine light was gone. Fueled up, restarted truck light came back this time only P0036. Ideas? Like I said I JUST replaced the bank 1 sensor 2 AND bank 1 sensor 1 O2's
How can I just use the scope on the rope without the scan tool with the heater on? Should I start the truck then probe it with the scope? I need to see if there is a solid connection from the bank1 sensor 2. 2005 dakota 4.7L 4x4 slt fault code P0141.
Great video! I have those exact same 3 codes P0036, P0054 and P0141 on my 2010 Chevrolet express 1500 4.3L. What was the part # of that denso O2 sensor you used? My van is pushing 600k and it runs awesome, but the wiring on it is what has the issues and has caused me lots of headaches over it's time i must say. A few weeks ago i went to start it and it cranked, then died within seconds. I was like hmmm what hell could that be? I know now to check the wiring before i even think of changing out the parts. Turned out the power wire to the fuel pump corroded the exact same way the 02 sensor wire you pulled apart in this video. I call it the green decease lol. There should be vaccinations kinda like the flu shot, that protects our vehicles from the darn salt virus :-P
Hey dude I have a 05 frontier acting crazy p0300 p1168 and p1051 checked everything no vac leaks good compression good spark and a tone of brand new sensors how as I was cruising fine running normal it is now struggling bad to even go past 30 mph thaw only thing I could find is o2 sensors wet inside connectors left side up and down stream really weird I have no idea how they got wet on my inside no oil leaks. I believe this is what’s is causing all kinds of havoc do you think it could make it run lean.
Thanks for your video I have the exact codes p0035, p0054, p0141, how much would you pay a mechanic to replace 02 censor on a 2008 Chevy Trailblazer. Thanks in advance for your time and consideration.
Where are you located?? 😆 my nephew has tried fixing everything that the codes are throwing on his Chevy and it's still not fixed. He needs to go to someone like you.
I have 2008 Chevy Colorado lt with o2 not ready without no codes I have replaced upstream sensor driven over 120 miles it will not set do you have a opinion of what’s going on
good video Eric as always this location was super easy but how is about some bad design location do you have the tool for it if it was. I know there is special socket kit to make the job easier by the way the 100th video TOOL BOX TOUR will be awesome thank you for sharing.
Hey j georges . Your right this one did allow us to hop on the gravy train and take a ride. There are 02 sensor sockets and if I get to I can show the use of them in the future. We will have to wait and see what rolls through the bay doors :)
The o2 sensor socket just has a slot in it to allow the wire to stick out while you use it. I bought one long time ago but honestly unless they are really stuck on there a combination wrench as shown works. No doubt there maybe some cars where its a lot tighter and it might best option.
I'm getting a p0135, p0141, and a p0300. Will a bad 02 sensor cause the random misfire? 99 silverado 4.3 v6 no catalytic converters, rough start, strong smell of gas.
Do you have a video where you check the 02 and it's fine. Tested the fuse and that's good and still pulling the p0030 p0053 p0135 I'm having a hell of a time find it out what is causing these codes to get pulled and I've already changed the o2 sensor my fuses are good
can you give me some direction . i not for sure if this is a issue . 02 Chevy Trailblazer LS with the i6 . bank 1 sensor 1 voltage .405 v , sensor 2 voltage .690 v , Short Trim fuel trim's. sensor 1- shows 3.1 % , and sensor 2 shows 99.2% . No check engine light on. seam to run good , get around 15.5 to 18 mpg . just wanting to know if anything to worry about . thank you
If you replace the sensor on the downstream, what else could it be because I replaced mines but i still get a 0036 0141 code. I check live data. Its reading high, around 600-700 milivolts on the old and the new sensor. Plz help
Got a GMC envoy SLT dad got under unplugged a wire close to the shifter plate now truck running rough don't know what this wire goes to but Also look s like a air hose came unplugged also what do I tell the mechanic what parts these are? Please help stuck with no vechical? Sincerely Sherry.
2004 Chevrolet Silverado 2500 6.0 gas code: PO135 O2 heater circuit bank 1, sensor 1 Here's my question: can this issue pull power from my battery when it is not on?
Hey does that P0036 cause a rough idle sometimes? My cadillac (2006 CTS 3.6L v6) keeps idling rough esp during rain and it has one of these codes so can that be the cause?
Searched my codes, then searched for your video. You da best Eric, appreciate all the help you've provided my young ass

So your p0036 was fixed by changing a fuse out of your fuse box?
@@lalozichlids3245 Yup!

How strange. I'm checking one right now and this video is in my recommendation. Thanks Eric for the help.
I just had same exact scenario on my 98 Chevy Cheyenne. Was able to repair the wire and continue to use the sensor. Still working fine.
Have a 2012 Equinox and this just happened on the O2 sensor. Going in Friday for a fix so this really helped buddy! Thanks for the vid. Take care

I was wondering about that extra wire, I'm glad you confirmed the length cuz from this side of the tablet it also looked to be roughly 6.5 miles. 😂

Another good one Eric!
You're getting closer and closer to 1000 patients!!! Yeeeyyy! Way to go Dr O! :)))
Thanks Nick Nicu On our way for sure! Have to come up with something good for the 100th video special!?!? Almost to that point too...
You need a proper surgery for that 100th Dr. O! How about a full engine and transmission swap on a Chevy Van! LOL! Just kidding... Tools presentation?
Hey man sounds like we live in the same place lol :)
lol
My Toyota requires OEM sensors that talk to the computer. Any after market junk sensors will keep tripping the code due to, I believe, quality assurance and tolerances, which do not meet manufacture specifications.
+jake ounce Explains why my "Duralast" sensors that I buy at AutoZone always come with "made in Japan". It just costs AutoZone too much to sell products that don't work for Toyota's.
Nice vid Eric. I was waiting for the 5th part of teh Subaru head gasket..
Oh don't you worry it is in the process. About 75% edited. It's a big one so it takes a while.
I had a bank 1 sensor 1 & sensor 2 code on my 2004 5 cylinder Colorado. Replaced upstream sensor and still throwing both codes after being cleared out
Thanks for the video, my daughter has a 2016 Ford Fusion and the money light came on. She went to autozone and they said her o2 sensor was bad. I need to find out if that’s really what’s wrong.
Thanks for the brake module information because I have a 2007 chevy silverado that have the abs light on. Is it hard to change that module?
I definitely found your video helpful. I have a question though. What if you changed the O2 sensor already but the truck is still throwing the same code?
I strip them out every time. Heated up, penatrating oil, sockets....never fails I strip out the 7/8 nut trying to get it out.
I just picked my truck up from my mechanic, because it was stalling out after driving for about 30 minutes. He replaced my o2 sensor. Said it was the cause. My question is did that fix the problem like he said, or is it possible it was really the cat??
I have the same crap going on with my H02 S P0154 on my GMC Acadia as well as my H02 S Heater Control Circuit P0050? do you have a video on the P0050?
Soldier53flyer did you ever found the problem?
Wonders if any of the other ones have poke holes in them . My GMC truck , i never realized before now that it had brakes , but it is not very fast either . lol
Lol thats awesome wtbm123
I have problem I have a p0420 code and replaced all o2 sensors. My bank 1 sensor 2 is fluctuating more that bank 1 sensor 1. Is this a bad cat or faulty new sensor ?
Bank 2 sensor 2 is stable. And both bank 1 sensor 1 and bank 2 sensor 1 are fluctuating like they should
Hey Eric, I just changed one, and two of the wires were corroded halfway going
Nice video!
Thanks Hendrik Hallo
Just take out the O2 sensors becuase they just plug up from cheap fuel and can not sniff anymore . take carb cleaner and wire brush clean out the holes and there you have it .
Is this for code p0036?
Thank you I have the problem with ebc staying on and just could not find any good info again thank you
Well done video.
Good Diagnostics Great Video!
LoL
It appears that someone has been poking around with a test light.
Yeah that's the only thing I could think of.. someone doing the hokie-pokie up in there. Add a little salt-n-water and presto!
I'm thinking a rodent maybe. they LOVE to chew the insulation on wiring...
Check your under hood fuses!!
I just changed my exhaust manifold bolts and gaskets. Do you think my exhaust manifolds is causing me to get P0332 code? Thinking maybe a bolt or 2 backed back out on my exhaust?
Hey Eric, 2007 Silverado Classic. Replaced the O2 sensor downstream 2 and I'm still gettting P0060 code. what do you think would be the problem.
I love that white stuff!!!
hey I have a 04 mustang 3.9L popping up p0054 and also p2270. Just replaced bank 1 sensor 2. also bank 1 sensor 1. I cant figure out the problem. CAn you help!!
My wires are damaged on the harness side where the sensor plugs in. Do I try to just cut them off and rewire the end?
Great video
Thanks Tom OConnor
Great video. Thanks.
Thanks Joseph Costello
Replaced bank 1 sensor 2... Took all proper steps including unhooking battery. Started truck, engine light was gone. Fueled up, restarted truck light came back this time only P0036. Ideas? Like I said I JUST replaced the bank 1 sensor 2 AND bank 1 sensor 1 O2's
THANKYOU! Would not have known how to remove the connector THANKS !!
I have a 2004 Chevy Tahoe I put a brand new O2 sensor in and it's still throwing a Bank One sensor two code what do you think it possibly could be
Still hunting that issue with the 00 GMC sienna.
VERY informative....THANK YOU...is this certain sensor pretty much in the same location on a Cadillac SRX '05...Thanks again!!!
Dude your the best
Thanks for your video I have the exact codes p0035, p0054, p0141, how much would you pay a mechanic to replace 02 censor on a 2008 Chevy Trailblazer. Thanks in advance for your time and consideration.
Eric I have a 2003 e250 my code is p1131 when I take dog house off and looking at the engine we're is this sensor bank1 sensor 1?
Plz help
thank you good video
Wire was probed and opening was not repaired.Just guessing.Great demo.Thanks.
Did the lights go off on dash?
I can't believe how much rust is under a 07. Damn! Im on the west coast so we don't get that much rust.
I only have the P0036 on my 06 corvette, could it be just the O2 sensor?
would a stuck open purge valve cause an o2 sensor p015b code to trigger?
2004 Chevrolet Silverado 2500 6.0 gas code:
PO135 O2 heater circuit bank 1, sensor 1
Here's my question: can this issue pull power from my battery when it is not on?
Hey does that P0036 cause a rough idle sometimes? My cadillac (2006 CTS 3.6L v6) keeps idling rough esp during rain and it has one of these codes so can that be the cause?
This looks like the Bank 1 S1 sensor before it crosses over to passenger side and goes into the cat convertor(s)??
are all sensors the same on bank1 and bank2?
Man where has that truck been. It’s beat up under there. Lol
Love the dorman calendar 😂
You should use safety glasses a lot of debri in them cars im just saying good vids
