Hi Dr Greg im an Ortho Assistant and a couple weeks ago I used buttons on a patient with a Halterman, I placed the buttons on the occlusal biting surface of the patients first molars (U6s) to help with those molars coming down they were impacted because the patients had Stainless Steel Crowns that were not letting those molars come down all the way and I used a Powerchain from the button to the halterman hooks to start pulling on the molars, it was really interesting first time I’ve ever done that!! Sending good vibes from Washington State!!!
I’ve got two of those lingual buttons. Works great to help move teeth with a power chain!! For those who want to know, I have them on my top arch and they don’t hurt or rub on my tongue at all.
I actually find my button to be very irritating. It was great motivation to wear my rubber bands 24/7. I hate the way it feels uncovered.
For me it rubs on my tongue it’s kinda annoying but I know imma get used to it( I just got them today). But when I eat something I think it’s food stuck but it’s the just the buttons in my mouth lol

4 buttons were placed in the palatal (canine and 1st premolar) and lingual (canine and 1st premolar) surfaces of my teeth and they are used to fix my bite as a hook for my elastics 😌 so for the right side, they are attached to my maxillary buccal canine and first premolar then stretched down to my lingual buccal and first premolar. Then the same thing on the left side!
Loving this channel, I am an incoming 2nd year dental student by the way! Orthodontics is one of the branches that interests me the most!
can u do a part 2 of molar bands in more detail, especially for the ones for lip bumpers or headgears

Yes I know. I was meant to have 12 months meaning I got them on my birthday and I was hoping to have them off for my next but because of quarantine it got pushed back 😔

@@DrGregAsatrian yes you should do a deep dive on clear aligners as i am on tray 13 of 25.
A cross bite is also common I think. I have a button on the lingual side and the rubber band runs from inside to outside. It’s amazing how it fixed it. That was my primary concern.

I've been waiting for a button video since you answered my question on the first live! Now that my button is now being used, is there a reason why or difference between buttons? The one you show most often is round. Mine looks like a handle bar. I'm sure it does the same thing, I'm thinking maybe different manufacturers just make them differently.. Like your videos and all your positivity! Would definitely come to see you if I was in LA. A question... I have space between my molars with the wisdom tooth slightly impacted in the bone. Can buttons or what else be used to move molars forward to close the gaps and free some space after the wisdom tooth so it can be cleaned all around more easily please?

i had had two buttons on the tongue and cheek side of the bottom left premolar to rotate it with power chains and now there's been a bracket on there since it's in its ideal position for a bracket. I remember that tooth hurting a little more when a bracket was finally placed on. I'm guessing my other teeth were a little further ahead in the journey and the premolar was playing catchup and hurt noticeably more than the other teeth when it finally had a bracket in place.
The 2nd example is exactly what I have going on. I’m getting buttons on my next visit

My actual question is I watched your video about brushing after eating, is it safe to use a fluoride mouthwash after dining? Because I have lots of egg and it smells bad... I hope you acknowledge my comment

U can eat b4 the extractions , u can use mouth washes with braces , but u still have to brush at least 3 times everyday , especially the gingival part while braces are on , I recommend brushing it separately

I had a tooth like in the second example and while it was brought forward, after I had my braces removed I went back to tell my ortho that it wasn’t completely brought all the way forward. She told me that the root of tooth couldn’t be brought forward. They only used a bracket and not a button. Do you think it can still be moved? She also told me that I would have to go to a cosmetologist t

Can you pull a tooth forward when having a Invisalign?
Would buttons be used to help close front teeth gap evenly? My gap is almost closed but I think my midline is off. One tooth seems straight and the other seems to be at an angle.
I have buttons on two bottom teeth. I have some sort of bite( forgot which one) and I use them with rubber bands on my left. My teeth are like slanted so that’s why I have those to pull my teeth to a straighter position.

Second scenario is called a slingshot, I have that going on, but I don’t have any buttons, just a bracket
I have 3 buttons on my upper teeth on the tongue side. They are for elastics that stretch to the lower arch on the outside. They definitely work - within a week or too the tooth started to feel slightly wobbly. Now 2 are in the right position and only 1 left to go. They are a bit sore when they rub against my tongue - not the end of the world though.
How did you survive the inside button? I’ve been in aligners for 19 months and just told I’m an unusual case and teeth not moving as they should so another 12 months!!! Never had a problem with wearing aligners, elastics, buttons but this button on the inside feels like my tongue is being stripped - I can’t eat! Talking and drinking is even uncomfortable. I’m so fed up!
@@korinamurphy1502 yeah they are horrible. I had them for 6 months ish - the last one was only removed on Wednesday. They aren’t as bad when the elastic is on but otherwise the orthodontic wax is the only thing that helped to be honest :/

Can you do a rotation of a upper premolar tooth
I had my back bracket come off but the orthodontists office said it’s fine to leave it until my appointment next month. Is that normal? I have power chains right now so the bracket keeps sliding around on the wire.

Hello! I Was just wondering if there is possibilty that braced could be put on wrong šo they make Teeth to turn or spin. Just wondering if it is crowding problem or just misplacement of the brace. Hey I have a question, I get my braces on tuesday and I have had my spacers for 3 weeks now is this okay? Everyone says its for a couple of days or a week but ive had them for 3! and also will I be getting my molar bands and braces on this appointment? They already took xrays and stuff last time so I just need them on!
I recently got my braces put on (3 days ago) and I had 12 spacers. Top 6 for a week + 5 days and bottom 6 spacers for just one week. It hurt a lot for me when the molar bands were placed in as it did before in the previous week when they tried, but the bands wouldn't fit that time. Maybe having the spacers for a longer time will make it less painful and more easier to fit the bands on the teeth? Idk but you've had the spacers in for a grip though lol

@@msheartface5288 may i ask what that is? also maybe wax would work but it may be harder to get it to stick bc your mouth is more wet back there.
@@kirstennlaylaa yes wax is better to stick to bracket or button but the iglu (I spelt it wrong before) relieves sores and cankers caused by the braces. It’s great 👍🏻

@@patreecemcintosh8036 oh my you poor thing hope it’s a little better now. Try also buying bonjela gel 15g in a blue tube and not expensive like iglu. Those two products tho with ortho wax are a must on our braces journey x

Don’t be! It doesn’t hurt until 3 hours after the 1st appointment. After that the adjustments don’t hurt or only hurt a tiny bit. 😁

I got attachments on my teeth for my invisalign. I don't drink coffee, no wine, no soda, no tomatoes, or anything else that would stain my teeth. I brush my teeth very good after eating meals and the attachments still seem to be turning yellow :(
