Headed to Kona soon as a port stop. This is a great video, very informative! I know this was filmed 4 years ago, but that plate from Fish Hopper looks amazing. Do you remember - was that a special they were doing? I don't see anything on their menu with shrimp, fish, and what looks like a crab cake, maybe? 🙂 The Seafood Pasta looks amazing too. Thanks!
Hi! Sorry for delay in response. Sometimes they do have specials from time to time so it's possible that exact thing is not on menu. However they should have something similar. If you go and try, let me know how you like it!
This is good to know! My mom and I will be on Pride of America in August 2023 so fairly soon. I've been pretty bummed out because I originally planned on doing an excursion for every port we visited. But it's just too daggum expensive it's ridiculous 😭💸💸💸! And the cheapest excursion there doesn't look like much fun either 😪. I don't swim either so I might as well just hoof it with my mom around the port area 😊.
Don't worry, the area I showed in the video is plenty to do and fun. You will see the beautiful Hawaii water, beaches and in general, I really like this area. Especially since you don't swim or snorkel, I don't think excursions area necessary.
@@LittleBirdieTravel and i'd assume same thing for Hilo? also, would you know where in Maui will the cruise ships dock? in Lahaina or Kahalui? i guess it wouldn't matter where the cruise ships dock if we're going to use Uber instead of renting a car. Thank you so much for your insights.
@@bibiw8083 Hi. Also try the Lyft app to see which give you a driver first. By the way, how far is the beach you are looking at in Kona? If you are going really far from the ship, I'd recommend scheduling a ride to get back or do a tour because Ubers can be harder to get in the remote areas. It's a big island! However, if you are staying close to downtown Kona and trying to go to let's say Kahalu Beach or Magic Sands, you would be fine since that's still the touristy area.... For Hilo, it's a bit more quiet over there, I'm not sure how many Uber or Lyft drivers there are so I can't say for sure if you can count on that Maui, I'm not certain what side all ships dock.
@@LittleBirdieTravel thanks for the reply. we already booked an excursion in Kona and Hilo. on one of the days we're docked in Maui, we're thinking of just going from the dock (Lahaina) to the area where the turtles are (idk if it's Black Rock or any suggestion?) using a Lyft or Uber. i hope it isn't that far from Lahaina. :)
Thanks it's frustrating to locals , when visitors ask for directions to kona ,,, there is north kona and south koma, with several towns in each,,,, NICE VIDEO AND INTRODUCTION for visitors to the Big Island.
So, so good!!!
We went to Daylight Minds. It is no it called Papa Kona. Enjoyed it. Thank you
Thank you for letting me know. Glad you enjoyed it. 😀

@@LittleBirdieTravel No worries, thank you very much for your reply. We just got home today, but we didn’t end up getting to Fish Hopper. Next time! 😊

The second beach you mentioned is for the Courtyard Kona beach hotel guests, but it's not really enforced.
Luckily Anyone can use it. Out of the dozens of times there, no one has ever asked if staying at the hotel.
Awesomeness....
Hi Audrey, thank you!
Holy donuts is my favorite thing about kona. Pride of America is the best island hopper available.
Holy donuts? Ill have to look into that to try as I havent yet. Next time!
@@LittleBirdieTravel you must try the maple bacon donut it's the best. Aloha🌺
is there a cab that we can take to go to another beach?
There is Uber there, that's what I would use.

@@bibiw8083 you can do that. Just leave yourself a good amount of time to get back to the ship on time!
The port for cruise ships is in Kailua ,, there is no such town on the big island ,, called Kona , Kona is just a area in the county of Hawaii
Its Kailua-Kona.

@@wildman57 My friends on the Big Island refer to it as Kona Town and I always heard people say Kona-even locals. :)
Can you bring alcohol on the ship?
You can but they will hold it until you disembark the ship at the end of the trip. They don't let you take alcohol to your room.
Does the ABC store have a shipping department, I know that may sound a bit weird. But, would like to send back so gifts and not lug them in my bags?
No they dont. There is a post office nearby and you can mail them back home to yourself if you think its worth the time.
a little birdie told me...
