I worked on the NCL America cruise ship for 3 years and always loved our weekly tender into Kona. As a San Diego native, this was the closest place to home I could find in the islands. Glad to see that it still looks the same as it did when I left nearly 15 years ago!
My absolute favorite thing to do on the island is to walk along Alii Drive, visiting the shops and restaurants. Thank you for taking us along on your walk. October can’t come soon enough for me.
I always enjoy watching all of your videos. We’ve been to the island 3x’s. Hopefully next time we will see you both out & about. I feel so bad for the one dog that is always in the same spot with his owner 😢
Thanks for the video. We were there in Kailua Kona around the same time the video was filmed. We actually flew out on the 3rd of July. Anyway, we enjoyed our time there immensely.
Whe I was growing up in Kona the only hotel was Kona Inn and the original King Kam hotel which was about half the size of the current hotel There were no traffic lights only a 4 way stop sign No apartment buildings No condos Old airport park was the airport No traffic anywhere It was wonderful It’s a massive tourist trap now
But that’s my first morning of vacation thing. . . . . I wake up in the morning, walk to the coffee shop, then sit on the sea wall and enjoy my iced coffee with an amazing view. 😢
These familiar places are soothing my souls right now.

Oh no, the coffee shop at the Kona Inn closed? She said the paid parking was killing them (back in January) 😢

Sorry they were only there for the 4 of July, But we do have Friday night food trucks in front of Target.
