    Love your videos with both of you. I’ve learned so much about Kona and have watched every single one, some of them I’ve watched several times. Thank you. I just started my RUclips vlog in Pahoa last year. I love both sides of the island. Keep making those videos. 😁

    Great update, I am glad to see new businesses opening up, especially quality restaurants.
    In the past week, it was announced that the Outrigger Kona Resort & Spa will be host to the first Duke's location on the Big Island.
    A beautiful 15,000 sq ft oceanfront location, opening up in late 2025.

    About Kona parking ... really disgusting how it's all paid parking now ... the city does not care if local businesses aren't supported ... more and more local businesses going out of business ... or moving to some other community where parking is free.

      It wouldn't be so bad if there was a really reliable shuttle. I don't mind paying for parking while I travel. It's just part of the experience. We usually stay where we can cook our own meals. So we usually go for dinner where there is plenty of parking anyways. Thanks for the vid. Will be back in November.

      I just got home from Kona. I agree the parking situation is ridiculous. $15 an hr ! We paid for 3 hrs, found out we could get 1 1/2 hrs validated by a local business but we already paid.. Hawaii is already expensive to visit.. we have to pay to shop and spend more money

  • @Samonthego7
    @Samonthego7 Месяц назад +1

    Watching your video now and laughing about the parking part! Your description of all the different places and policies shows exactly why I don’t use downtown parking very often anymore. I used to like to just go down that way and wander around. But now it’s such a process, trying to figure out the best way to do that, and having to stop at a particular place to get validation, maybe for only a couple of hours and then I have to do it again… it’s taken all the fun out of it. So I only go downtown if I have a specific need to be there. I get why they’re having to do parking this way, but I find that I just don’t bother with it anymore.

    You need to do a uber, Lyft and Holoho episode. The parking in Kona is going to close the town. We went to dinner and got validation. A big dude still put a ticket on our car with a $120 fine. We negotiated it to $20 cash and he left (with the ticket) we live in palasaides but will not go back until the county council figures this out.

    • @365Hawaii
      @365Hawaii  Месяц назад

      Sadly, the County council does not see it as their purview to intervene since they view it as a private property issue. Not sure how this is going to go down, but someone should do something before we have a ghost town.

    Park by the Dolphin Spit bar and walk. Then look for the place that has the 'street corn unicorn '.

    I’ve been visiting the big island since 1999 and my first thought was, “there’s a Macy’s in Kona?” I had no idea. Where is it?
    Since our timeshare is up in Waikoloa, I always enjoy taking a day to walk around Alii drive, stopping in shops and restaurants along the way. Definitely not something I can do in 2 hours. Looks like I’m going to have to look into the trolley next time I visit.

      TELL ME @Loubert1000!! Eric's camera went out of focus when he was filming the drink and it didnt correct when it came to my face! Then instead of just not using the footage, he decided to try and fix it..like a crazy plastic surgeon, lol! I would have just cut it out, but did not want to lose telling folks about Temple Bar.

    I don't know who all these people are that need more than 90 minutes at a restaurant, but ParkLinq is super easy assuming you have a Hawaii Drivers License. I park easy and free anytime I'm downtown for a meal!

    • @jonathanmietzner8003
      @jonathanmietzner8003 Месяц назад +3

      Depending on the wait to be seated it can easily take 90 minutes. Also, when we’ve visited Coconut Grove over the years we go to the other stores in the complex and also get some gelato. Maybe if they lower the hourly rates they might actually fill up the lot.

    Businesses and people are just not wanted at all...let's get real. The slow attrition of businesses and the resultant reduction of tourists and people in general are the end goals. Look at the big picture folks.
