it just helps you not to damage your knees when digging short balls/tips!

I taught myself to dive with like 4 videos all saying different things and I implemented all of them and now i can dive perfectly almost consistently

Diving isn’t painless when you’re learning, you’re still throwing your body from a standing position to full flat in literally a second. It’s about distributing the impact so you don’t injure yourself

i'm putting it into practice rn and somehow my knee always gets in the way...
maybe its because i'm used to the impact always landing on my knees
like, before my hip can land, my knee gets in the way
    i'll keep practicing!

Open up your hip a bit more and kick off harder forward so that your legs are fully behind you

Does it matter whether you land on your forearms as some coaches tell you to, or to use your hands like shown in the video to slow down the momentum?

If you catch yourself when you dive you will break your wrists or hurt yourself. and don't land on your elbows.

you're less so meant to catch your weight, but more so guide it, redirect it a bit
